You have 5-6 machines with 2 flavors each, then a selection of toppings and you pay by weight. The flavors at this location were actually pretty good. Better than my last experience at FroZenYo, but not as good as SweetFrog. The Triple Cheesecake is chocolatey, but perhaps a little too sweet. The tart raspberry had the raspberry taste I was looking for, but maybe was not as tart as I would have wanted. The coconut was actually pretty darn good as coconut fro-yo goes. In terms of the frozen yogurt, I have two complaints about this place. 1.) You need to keep the trays and run-offs from the machines clean. Those areas looked like they had not been cleaned for a bit, and when you are doing self serve, there are all sorts of variables in terms of people. 2.) Limited low fat options and no non-fat options. No gluten free options listed for those that need it. Most other places I frequent are very good about denoting gluten free/non-fat. Not to mention, I get frozen yogurt because it is low fat, and not having it there just makes me want ice cream. The toppings selection is really well done. The nut/granola selection is nicely segregated from the fruits, with the candy in the middle. Had some unique items that I had not seen in other places, such as multiple types of boba (at least 4), caramel/peanut butter/raspberry chocolate cups (mini), among others. Limited fruit selection though, I'm used to having some sort of berry (or more), and some sort of citrus. Only really had pineapple and maraschino cherries. I'd like it if the folks behind the counter policed the topping bar more, so that the ladles are facing in the right direction. The ladles are the labels, so not being able to see the label means I'm guessing. But it did hit the spot.

We had a wake up call this Friday night. My wife and son went to grab a booth while things were quiet and many booths were still open. Because I wasn't there they would not seat them. They were thinking she would take up space and not order for a while, knowing in about a 1/2 hour they get tons of customers coming in. She called me and told me what they told her. This was something new they were starting that night. I told her grab a booth and gave her my order and I would be arriving in about ten to fifteen minutes. She was seated and was getting ready to order for her, my son and me and because I wasn't there another waiter came over and told her she had to get up and go sit in the waiting area. The food would have been ordered, not waisting any one's time I was in route and would have arrived in about ten minutes and food would have been still being prepared in the kitchen. My wife was completely embarrassed and felt like she was a bad person and thrown into a corner. I spoke with Jeff when I arrived and he explained to me this is the peak time for customers and they don't want to have to wait for remaining party to get there to take the order. They have run into this issue in the past when people reserve tables, so no one else can use them customers arrive and they don't place their order because they are waiting for the remaining party to arrive. We have never done that to them. My wife sat down, so they were not going to be waiting for the order, since she was placing the order, I would have arrived and no waiting. I explained to Jeff I understand if a table gets taken and a customer sits down and waists time and doesn't order, but she was ordering. He explained to me he didn't know if that was the case or not. We've been patrons for years, we always tipped well and were always grateful for their service. I didn't realize how my wife was treated till after I got home. I would never treat anyone the way she was treated last night. Takes hours, months, or years to get customers and one really bad move to lose them.

The place is cute with a walk up window and tables out front. The young guy that served me ice cream was busy working in the back and I wasn't even sure they were open. After I got his attention, I ended up with a really good Black raspberry ice cream on a sugar cone with chocolate jimmies. I sat at the table and enjoyed every bit of it. The quality and flavor were excellent. After, I decided to go in the store that's attached. It brought back memories of living in MA. It's a typical corner store with everything you could need. (-; It is rare to find such a well-oiled machine in a restaurant that operates with such heart -- you can tell how connected the crew is and that they're having a good time too, which extends to a customer's experience -- with food that is made with such skill and craft, such care and thought and pride. It's so clear that this is Val's passion, and we are most grateful to have learned about her and her place. Val and team, thank you for the unforgettable birthday sendoff you created for me last night. My friends are sending texts of gratitude for such a lovely time; all of it was perfect.
