I'm sorry to have to give this place a 2 but I tried my best to give it a shot. It looks like a lot of high school kids work here so l give it some slack however after tonight I can't anymore. We had pizza from here once in a while as I enjoy papa gino's and my family likes Dominos. The pizza is always fine no issues but picking it up is always a nightmare. Add 20-40 minutes onto whatever they tell you for a pick up time. It's just chaos in there. So naturally ....they have a hard time doing just pizzas so they would obviously turn into a dominos/ deangelo's now as they didn't already have a hard enough time with pizza. I mean it's only been a month or two since they started doing subs so maybe they'll get better. But both times i've ordered it's been 30 minutes later then the given pick up time. And both orders have been messed up, forgetting cheese one time and forgetting lettuce on one and hot peppers on the other tonight. See my wives sandwich from tonight. Like I said it's all kids working here so I'm not going to trash the place..they're trying and I'll give it a shot in another month or two and see if they got better. I would just recommend anyone ordering to avoid at all cost going there on a friday or weekend as they have a hard time even on a tuesday. It must be atleast an hour or two for orders on the weekend. The last time I knew I wanted I loved Papa Gino's was when I was like, seven, and that probably wasn't my most objective period of food critiquing. That said, this Papa's slaps, and it brings me back to that devious nostalgia. Same zesty, pepper-heavy sauce, great chewy crust with a generous amount of semolina in it, and mozzarella sticks filled with cheese. The management here is awesome and helped resolve a question I had about my order, the drivers are always friendly, and I'm shocked at how satisfying a cheese pizza is, time and time again. Haven't reviewed a place in a while but I ordered a large pepperoni pizza 30 min ago... No one in here but me, saw 3 pizzas for to go orders. My pizza JUST went into the oven. 30 min after I ordered. So, I know pizza, and I certainly know Holden Papa Gino's. We would go there every Sunday when the kids were young. We stopped there tonight on our way home from a hockey game. We ordered two small pizzas, a small fry, a soda, and a water. The bill came to $45, which seemed kinda high, but everything seems to cost more these days. After waiting a long time for our order, I went up to the counter. The young man who took our order was nowhere in sight. I looked over to where the pizzas come out and there were our pizzas, sitting in a box, waiting to be sliced. By this time two girls came in to start their shift and stood in a group chatting with the other employees. There were more employees than there were customers. Finally they guy who waited on us appeared. But rather then slice up my pizzas he stood there chatting it up with the group of employees who were still laughing it up. I yelled out to them asking if anyone was going to get my pizzas ready. Someone replied, "they should be ready." The guy who sliced our pizzas was not in good shape. He had a hard time using the pizza slicer, and both pizzas had a couple of large slices and several tiny slices. Not only that, he couldn't even figure out how to close the boxes! Then he said, "your fries are sitting over here, nice and hot. When I brought the stuff to the table I could tell the fries were cold. We each ate 2 slices, and after fixing the boxes so that they could be closed, we left. My wife commented that all of the employees had consumed too many gummies. I couldn't disagree with her assessment. Needless to say, I will not be going back to this Papa Gino's, it's terrible. Definitely not worth the money! read more

Last couple times I went the pizza had no sauce and basically little toppings. Figured I give them one last chance. I ordered meat lovers with EXTRA sauce. 2/3's of the pizza had no toppings. I couldn't see any sauce on it - I peeled back the cheese and basically the crust was a pink colors from the light amount of sauce they put on. I noticed too that most pizzas are slightly undercooked too - you won't find any char marks on those pizza. I brought it back and asked for a refund. No "I'm sorry". Nothing. I remember this location being a lot better when I was younger. Perhaps a life of nostalgia is a life viewed through rose colored glasses? Anyways, It's still your regular Papa Ginos. Still offer all the running specials, and they are never one of those locations that "doesn't participate" in coupon deals. What I do like Heavily staffed on busy nights - Friday/Saturday inHolden and there ain't much else to do around so everyone comes in to grab take out. Its also one of the few delivery places in town so I imagine they can get somewhat backed up., yet they still maintain. Friendly Staff. I've always been on the phone and in person with the most courteous of staff members, old and young, men and women. Good attitude spreads folks.. so thank you for that! They still have a Jukebox. Yes they do! and I believe a claw machine - but don't even get me started on how much of a waste of money those things are. What I don't like I've asked for extra cheese a couple times and I get charged for it but it really doesn't seem like extra cheese... like unless the guy making the pizza has REALLY tiny hands. The heater for pickup food may need to be replaced. I've picked up pizzas a couple times and RIGHT on time to notice that it isn't all that hot, and sadly lukewarm by the time I get home. The fried ravioli are a tad crispy for my liking, but still good. After 20 minutes I took one step forward and asked what was the status of my order. They then took it out of their cabinet that keeps it warm and claimed they had called out my name! We stopped for Papa Burgers Friday and found a few changes. The place looks, good. They have added TV's all over the place and that is where the good changes stop. It also appears to be a new crew and they definitely need help. I ordered a Papa Burger with Fries and the kids at the register looked it up and told me there was no such item. I repeated myself asking for a Classic Papa Burger and Fries and he still could not find it. At this point I checked the menu board and apparently they name has changed. He added it as a burger with special sauce. We paid and sat down for what seemed like forever and when the food arrived it was missing the fries. When we asked about them he checked and apparently the ticket did not say fries so we were not getting any. You would think that after asking for them twice and the mistake being on their end we would be offered even one order. This is the second time in a month we have been and the last time was no better, one pizza was burned and had to be redone and I waited additional 20 minutes past the pickup time to even get the order. Went there for lunch at noon today, wait in line was brief, but getting my order took almost 10 minutes for a slice and a salad! I guess they had to make the salad from scratch, but someone who came in after me got her order done ahead of mine! On top of that, it wasn't even a fresh hot cheese slice, but instead one made earlier and sitting under a heat lamp. And the "fresh made" salad was nothing to write home about, either. Absolutely terrible service. I ordered online and got a 35 minute estimate for pick-up. I got there 35 minutes later and was told it would be "15 minutes or so". I went and got gas, and made a phone call. I came back 20 minutes later. I was told my pizzas were the next to go in the oven. It was not busy. The manager was off in the corner making pizzas like he was a surly teenager having to do chores instead of playing video games. It was a pathetic showing for sure. I got a refund and ordered from Domino's from the Papa Gino's parking lot. This is the second time this has happened. Seeing that I've only been to this restaurant three times, I think I've had enough. If you want to actually eat, you should consider going to a place where the people working are willing to make you food. The Domino's in Holden had my pizzas ready in 10 minutes and were a lot busier. Pizza 17 will tell you if there's a wait, and has much better food. Update: Papa Ginos Holden is now offering a special on certain week days where you can get either cheese or peperroni pizza, or a pasta dish, or another type of entry...it's all you can eat, but you order one item at a time. It's a great deal and I believe although it was orignally only offered at lunch time or afternoon, that it now also includes dinner time. Please check with them for correct days and times. This is a great deal and is a low cost for all you can eat. ============================= OK, a Papa Gino's is a Papa Gino's This one, however is cleaner than most. The staff are always pleasant. proressional and helpful. I like the huge table om tje bacl mext tp the large picture window. Good place for a moderately priced family dinner. The soft drinks are endless refill so just order a kid's size cup for everyone and just keep refilling it. (for the frugal among us) Papa Gino's offers coupons online so if that interests you you can sign up online. You can also order online and pick up. They offer birthday parties for young children in which the birthday child gets to make his/her own pizza. Double check on this as this may be old info. Not sure if they still offern birthday parties. Some Papa Ginos do have a kids night, check with each one. Nice parking lot; you don't have to park on the street One warning: if you go here for dinner it can be very difficult to turn left and go back towards the Library and the light in the intersection between Resevoir St and Rt 122A. Lots of traffic and you may have to wait awhile upon leaving. I suggest you turn right and find somewhere else to safely turn around if you are headed back towards Rutland direction. Plenty of free parking, a nice machine for kids, and sometimes they used to offer coloring for kids, I'm not sure if they still do, or not. Although the food doesn't vary much from chain to chain, this location is outstanding in both service and cleanliness. The staff are especially friendly and bring your food right out to your table, a nice touch that not every Papa's does. My kids love the high level seating in the back, and even they commented on how nice this location was compared to others (they are 7!) We're happy to make this Papa Ginos part of our regular routine. read more

I love papa Gino's!! This past weekend I went there with my family for dinner, and I don't know what was going on with the cashier, but they only rang up half of the order. I had ordered something for my little boy to take to daycare the next day, and specifically asked for it to go, as he would not be eating it at that time. It was not put to go, and my little one thought he could have double the food. He's a toddler ya know they don't know. I had a strange order, I totally understand that my order is not the easiest. It's also not that difficult to understand either. The cashier over charged me for my meal, saying that I had extra food, when I really didn't have extra, I just needed something a little bit different. My brother got all you can eat pizza, and waited 10 minutes before they realized that they had no pizza for him. Was just overall a bad experience. The staff acted totally incompetent. We have always had a great time at Papa Gino's, great time great food, my opinion has slightly changed after this last visit. read more

Food is consistent, but ordering and getting your order is chaotic at best. 10 minute wait (ordered on phone) turned into 40 minute wait.

This papa ginos is very good. It's fast, fresh, and very good tasting. I can't think of one bad thing about it.
