10/10. I recently was visiting the Ralston Craft Show. I always see their enchiladas here but have never ventured to try. This time I took the chance, and I have no regrets! You cannot beat the price of these enchiladas. They also had tamales, chips, and different salsas. I enjoyed the mango salsa and ended up buying 6 chicken enchiladas for $15! I ordered the chicken enchiladas, they were alright. A bit pricey, but the owner was very nice and even gave me complimentary guacamole. It's a bit of a drive for me, though, and there are other places closer that are just as good, if not better. read more

We did our rounds hitting Iowa's Largest Arts and Crafts Show on a Friday evening at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, and the 13th annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival on a Saturday before all this Covid-19 mess started... There were a lot of food related highlights to that weekend, but one of the standouts was a vendor at the Arts and Crafts show who I don't recall seeing there before. Erick's Enchiladas. The owner was manning his booth and offering samples. A very personable guy who was pitching his enchiladas, flour chips, salsa etc. to the people passing by. His permanent spot is in Omaha but he did this show in Des Moines and said he's planning on being at the November show too. If you happen to be from Iowa and going to the Des Moines Arts and Crafts shows after this mess clears up... You might want to find him there and take home some of his food. The enchiladas are legit and the verde salsa has a nice little burn to it. The green is definitely my favorite. Everything is individually wrapped and frozen to carry home. I want to say I paid $15 for six big enchiladas. The meat inside is precooked and he provides instructions on how to "cook" them at home. It's good stuff. read more

I stopped in for the first time 7/6/24 and bought 6 beef enchiladas , salsa verde. We made 2 last night and had half left for tonight. Huge. . We thawed and cooked per Eric's instructions for 15 mn at 400. I put shredded cheese on top and wouldn't do that again. Not necessary with these. The salsa verde on top was enough. Great value. We left 4 frozen and that's 8 future meals for us. read more

Freakin' love their salsa verde. Bought 15oz of it today at the Aksarben farmer's market for $5. They always have samples of their beef enchilada at the farmer's market and I got one before for $3, slathering on that salsa. Little pricey for an enchilada, but it's yummy. Haven't been to their actual store yet, although I did pass by it once when I was heading to Olsen Bake Shop. Asked about their hours at the store, and Erick said M-F 11AM-5PM, and they have farmer's market on Saturday and Sunday, and are sometimes at the store after the farmer's market (give them a call to check). Google says they're open on Saturday from 11-5 as well and closed Sunday. Probably their regular hours when there's no farmer's market. read more

Years ago I picked up some of their beef enchiladas at a Lincoln food market. I remembered just how good they were, so today I stopped by their location on South 13th Street in Omaha. I purchased not only their beef enchiladas, but also their cheese enchiladas, pork tamales, red mild salsa, green medium salsa, pico de gallo and corn chips. I was not disappointed. As soon as I got home, I tried the chips with the pico de gallo. The corn chips were extremely fresh, and went well with the very tasty pico de gallo (I loved the cilantro in it). Later in the day for dinner, my wife and I each had a beef enchilada and a cheese enchilada. We prepared them two ways, to see which way we liked the best. I put the two beef enchiladas in a glass baking dish, covered mine with the medium green salsa, and my wife's with the mild red salsa, then put some shredded cheddar cheese on top of each. I then covered the glass dish with tin foil, and baked the beef enchiladas in the oven for 24 minutes at 400 degrees. The 2 cheese enchiladas I put on a lined cookie sheet and baked as is in the same 400 degrees oven (these enchiladas had a bit of a crunch to them as a result). I prepared one of the pork tamales by wrapping it in a wet paper towel and microwaving it on high for approximately 3 minutes. Both the enchiladas and the tamale were frozen to start. The enchiladas were outstanding. However, I preferred the cookie sheet preparation, while my wife preferred the baking dish method. My wife loved the red mild salsa, and I loved the medium green salsa (it was a bit on the hot side, which I like). Also, the tamale was fantastic (after I microwaved it, I put green salsa on top)! Walked in to get enchiladas and was surrounded by at least 30 freezers. Started to look at the pricing board to see what I wanted. All of sudden the owner comes out of the back, comes up to where we are looking at prices and pulls another pricing board out from behind the one we were looking at. Those prices were significantly higher than the other pricing board. All together there were 4 different pricing boards. So if he doesn't know you he overcharges you. Who knows how long the enchiladas have been in those freezers. The enchiladas were super bland with no real flavor. I will never be back. Bought a dozen enchiladas and threw 10 away. read more

So I'm from Houston TX. Great Mexican food. Bought some Enchiladas at the Old Farmers Market downtown Omaha. I must say I was skeptical. I even teased the two salespersons that I would let them know how good they tasted. Wow!!! Was I surprised. The Best Chicken Enchiladas I've ever had. The Salsa Verde gets a 10 that the chicken is rolled in. We should have bought a gallon! I'm so obsessed with getting more that I'm going to go to their store and buy some to take back to Texas! The name didn't make us think of great Mexican food. And when you walk in to pick up your order, you see a room full of freezers and a beverage fridge with salsa. But then you taste it - wow. So incredibly good. We had the been and vegetable enchiladas and the chicken and beef enchiladas. Outstanding. Plus, the salsas -- especially the spicy green salsa and the guac -- are killer good. I live in Sioux Falls and Erik's came up and had a booth at the Sportsman's show this last weekend. I sampled an enchilada and it was great even though it had cooled off quite a bit. I bought a bag and when I got home I ate one. Then another... then another... and another. I quickly realized I needed to get more. I went back the next day and got a bunch of each kind and did a taste test with my Chinese parents who typically don't care for south of the border food. My mom ended up going to the Sportsmans show just to pick up a couple more dozen in case it is a while before they make it back up here again! If they don't keep coming up here, I see some road trips down to Omaha soon. Even from frozen, these are the best enchiladas I've ever had. (Their green salsa is also so good I could eat it with a spoon like soup!) read more

They came to Des Moines last weekend and so glad they did. They make the best salsa verde and pico de gallo around and I've had both in CA, CO, NM, you name it. I'm almost out. May have to drive to Omaha for more. I'm not an enchilada or tamale lover, but my sister really lIked them. read more

Making your own enchiladas is messy and hard. And unless you're some kind of enchilada master, you aren't going to come close to making the amazing enchiladas you can get here. I love their chips and salsa so much that my wife gets jealous. Catch them at the Aksarben Farmer's market, but get there early before they run out of chips! read more

Good food. Red salsa is yummy! We tried all four flavors of enchiladas. Buy a bunch so you can freeze them for a quick weeknight meal.

The enchiladas were delicious and a good size. The tamales were kind of small, but still delicious.

I've never been to Erik's store front on 13th Street but every time I'm at the farmers market I can't leave without chips and salsa! I always go for the salsa verde which is consistently delicious. The heat, unfortunately, isn't quite so consistent but still so good! And I could eat those chips all day! read more

I get the pork and chicken enchiladas at the farmer's market regularly. They are large and tasty! I don't know if they have them at the restaurant but the fresh flour tortilla chips and salsa are also fantastic. read more
