I came in to see what the Erewhom experience was like but I have to admit, it isn't anything better than a visit to any other upscale "elite" grocery store. the produce and all the other goods are so pleasantly presented but at the same time, it'd be nice to be able to find employees who were so willing to give you more information about them or to tell you more about the speciality items that the store has to offer. I purchased some snacks here and were terribly disappointed. The freshness was terrible. I don't want to go all the way back to the store to return the item but I don't think I'll be back for a while. My fav was the fresh peanut butter but booo for the $2 jar deposit. Bone broth and chicken soup also tasty but booo for the $3 jar deposit. Also waited in line to purchase the Beiber smoothie, $18. You guysssss it's so pretty in here but if you didn't know already this store is on the pricier end of the scale. The ready made food all looked so good but I opted out for the sushi packages. I purchased 4 items and the total came out to be $65. The sushi here isn't that great it was bland and the fish looked fake to me. I don't know how else to explain it, and it definitely looked better than it tasted. Each sushi pack was about $20 and I was super disappointed. I expected Tokyo Central or HMART quality but it still looked and tasted like Vons sushi. To be honest I probably won't buy sushi from here if your looking for a satisfying sushi lunch...only if you're just looking for something to eat. The keto cheese cheesecakes I got were actually pretty good though! I liked the New York style ones better than the strawberry cheesecake and for some reason I think they put a container of frosting in there too. But each pack was also about $20 and came with 3 pieces. The staff is very attentive and they keep the store well stocked, clean and organized. What was a bit of a hassle was how crowded check out was and it was alot to hard to notice if a cashier was calling you over. It's honestly just a grocery store just pricey lol. Simply the best grocery store for real organic items. Yes, they sell some things that are overpriced. The quality of their produce and meats simply cannot be beaten at any other "high end" grocery store. My family and I personally can feel and taste the difference. The prices on things like vegetables, fruits, chicken and beef are honestly normal. If your goal is real, organic food, Erewhon is the go to! If you shop here weekly, the membership makes a lot of sense. $200/yr to save 10% a week. Do the math. Once you go Erewhon, you can't go back lol. Although the restroom toilets were filthy, blood and pee stains on the toilet with paper towels everywhere. And the customer service wasn't the best, looked like the register lady didn't want to be standing there and when we asked for a cup of water they looked at us like we were in the wrong for asking them a simple thing between their casual coworker conversation. I saw that Erewhon recently opened at Pasadena and decided to stop by to see the store because I've been to other locations and I used to get their pressed juices all the time. The day I went there wasn't a lot of people and I realized the overall store is quite small inside. I went to the smoothie/food area because I was curious what it looked like and immediately there was a worker who looked at me and said "are you ready to order???!" and I said "ohh I'm just looking", unsure if a smoothie was what I wanted to get and was simply enticed by their menu selection. Seconds later, the worker asked again but in a passive aggressive tone, "are you going to order, hurry up so I can put it in??". I was shocked and I looked around and realized there was no one around me so I didn't understand what was their hurry for. Immediately hearing that and seeing their upset facial expression turned me off and I didn't want anything anymore. I browsed the store and noticed it was fully stocked and very organized. I'm glad something finally became of the Borders retail space that sat empty for so long. Parking is decent if you know where to park, where it is less crowded (which fortunately I do since I'm from the neighborhood). Store is clean and well stocked. Lots of people working here, but many behind the Tonic Bar, prepared foods bar, and registers seem confused the two times I've been there so far. The miso cod entree I got from the prepared foods section we extremely undercooked (pink, jiggly and meat would not come off the skin), but I already got home so I didn't go back to show them. Not edible without getting sick. Waste of $20. They charge $0.20 per paper bag for online food order pick-ups (no option to decline if you don't want the bag) and they charged me for two bags, even though they only gave me one. I also ordered a half pound and they gave me almost one pound, costing me an extra $9 that I didn't want to spend. I think they do this with online orders to upsell and charge more. Overall, good aesthetics and quality, but extremely overpriced. There are very good local coffee shops, bakeries, smoothie shops, and prepared food places that cost less, same or better quality, and are a lot less boujee (the customers are boujee, not the workers). read more

The only downside was that my smoothie took about 25 minutes but that's to be expected at any other Erewhon when it's super crowded (especially the grove location). The membership plus is not exactly worth the hefty price point. Some drawbacks is that the smoothie of the month is whatever the bar decides and the advertised $0 delivery fee only applies if you spend $150+ on groceries. I just buy the organic produce which is very fresh. Their prepared foods are tasty but it's laughable how much vegan or vegetarian food they have maybe 10% and rest of it is meat. Especially since the store originated in the 70's providing organic produce and No meat! Everything else i get from whole foods market since they are more than 25% cheaper for the same item. Sometimes the staff thinks they are in a club because the music blasting at the highest edgy noisy volume.
