This was stop out of town on a weekend getaway on maybe one of the last nice weekends of 2024 and since my town doesn't have this sub chain I was going to get a sub to take home for dinner. For 4 people in the place and more staff than us it seemed very disorganized and super slow to get my order was my thought as I waited what seemed an unusually long time compared to other chain shops. The young man had a glitch while taking my order like the woman in the movie total recall at the mars airport, just left the interaction. I ordered the the flash which is capicola, salami, provolone and ham on white bread with onion, lettuce, tomato, oregano with oil/vinegar. The sandwich was wrapped supper loosely/poorly to my surprise and when I opened it this strange scrap of bread was on top, never seen this before. All in all the fresh French bread had a nice chewy/pull crust with a soft center and very good. Meat vs bread was perfect with fresh topping. Yah in the end I like this franchise but execution of the franchise is sub par, would I go back, probably not that location but another one. read more

Atmosphere: Typical fast food sandwich place. Everything was clean. Service: Easy going, but it took a long time to get our food (about 15 minutes after order was placed). Food: EW. I hate subway, but subway was even better than this. I had a stomach ache about an hour after I ate and it remained until mid next day. The bread was undercooked and it's weird they put that chunk of dough on top of your sandwich. Won't be back and will not recommend, went here because some friends raved about it, definitely will not be taking their advice for a quick bite any time going forward. The people in Erbert And Gerberts were sweet as can be. Super easy ordering process, We were helped by a nice young man. Two sandwich meals which include your choice of soup, Mac and cheese or chips. I ordered the Girf sandwich with broccoli cheddar soup and my mother ordered the Tappy with wild rice soup. Both sandwiches were super yummy, the bread was nice and soft but firm, I have jaw problems so whenever bread is too tough my jaw will pop and it keeps me from eating too many subs sometimes but these ones are AWESOME!! I will say the only 'complaint' I had was the wild rice soup side for one of the sandwiches tasted strangely vinegar/alcohol like but other than that amazing. read more

For a restaurant, I would expect commitment to health and safety to be a to priority. I'm sad to say that this is not the case here. I saw two employees not wearing facemasks while indoors. I called out the Cashier and he said it was in his pocket and didn't really do much anyway, he refused to wear it when I asked. Can't help but wonder what other health standards they disregard. Hopefully that cashier didn't think washing hands doesn't do anything either. At least for the next few months avoid this place, we need the pandemic to end and that means everyone needs to work together. read more

My husband loves that you can get a combo with soup. His favorite is the Wisconsin Beer Cheese soup. My family orders their subs with several modifications. They are always willing to make the adjustments. Sandwiches are available on french or honey wheat sub rolls. From there, they have several meat and fixing combinations. First sub from here and man was it awful! Tasted like salt brine was pasted in the sandwich. After a few bites I searched for the salty source. Not the ham or the roast beef. It was their Mayo and shredded lettuce sauce spread. Had to be prepared wrong. One more bite and I had to toss it. Hours later and I am trying to get that taste out of my mouth. I decided to give it a try. I was the only person in the store, so both the person taking my order and the sandwich maker heard me order. I asked for no mayo. I can't eat the stuff. I also ordered a soup. I paid $10 for a half a sandwich and 1/2c worth of soup. I took my food home, and mayo. And not just a little mayo. Globs of it. Like, squeezed the bread and it oozed out the sides. Figured since I was the only person there you'd get my order right. So I called and complained. That's a rather stupid mistake regarding the circumstances. They asked for my address to send me something for my inconvenience I say OK. Received the "something" in the mail about a week later, and they send me a dollar in "comet cash," their "currency." One. Dollar. I spent $10 on the half sandwich that I couldn't eat because your sandwich maker wasn't paying attention and you reimburse me a dollar? Tisk. Let me explain the rest of my sandwich. I tried to see if it was salvageable by opening it up and wiping it off. Upon inspection, the sandwich consisted of bread, mayo globs, 1 slice of turkey, 1 slice of cheese, thin layer of avo/guac, and lettuce. Even if they got my no mayo correct, there's absolutely no way at all that 1/2 sandwich (4.5 inches) was worth $10. Soup was oily and slimy. Couldn't down it. But with 15 options of bagged soup to keep warm, I wasn't expecting much. Overall, Better quality food and service at any other chain. Go to Potbelly. Go to Quiznos. Go to Jimmy John's. I've loved Erbert & Gerbert's since my college days! However my memories are much fonder than my recent experiences here. The soups are definitely the star of the show. I'm glad I ate in so I could go back to get the avocado left off of my Narmer (Turkey & Avocado sub). My husband also did not even get his middle . Where I draw the line was when they emptied the trash from the front of the building and carried the dripping trash bag through the dining room right passed me. No one came by to mop it up either. Really don't meet my expectations for a $20 soup & sandwich lunch. read more

Ridiculously late. Ordered a bowl of soup and a sub and took more than an hour and a half to get here. This was past 7 so should be no dinner rush or anything. Estimate said only 40 minutes. Called to ask where the order was and had a rude boy named Dylan tell me he couldn't confirm anything because he only made the sandwiches. I was given the recommendation due to "having good gluten free bread". I was initially disappointed that they do not toast bread or offer any hot sandwiches. I ordered my food on the phone for pick up. Upon arriving, the girl working the food line was quickly rude informing me to go to the other side with a snarky attitude. I picked up my items and left, eating in the hotel. The tomato soup was enjoyable, very chunky! The sandwich was not enjoyable. Cheese and "avocado" on bread. There was no resemblance of avocado unless you're looking at the greenish brown paste between the slices of cheese. I took one bite and was done with that waste of money. Not a place I would revisit. E&B is my favorite fast sub shop and this location doesn't disappoint. The staff is very polite, the food was good and the sub was ready before I could finish getting my drink. I was also pleased to be able to get Vitaminwater instead of having to have soda. read more

This is the most amazing place to eat in Appleton, everyone is very polite. The store is extremely clean and excellent food practices can be observed constantly. I'm personally gluten free, when I mentioned that the staff explained their options knowledgeably and simply very easy to understand. I ordered the "Namer" sandwich with gluten free loaded baked potato soup. They have a completely separate area with a kit to prepare certain menu options available gluten free. They washed hands changed gloves. I enjoyed this immensely and would recommend them to everyone gluten free or not! read more
