I had the smokehouse breakfast platter which me personally would never do BBQ for breakfast but man was I wrong. That platter was very tasty everything was perfectly smoked and cooked with perfection. My brother has the chicken and waffle he said he liked it a lot. The people that work at the place seems like a family that brought all their friends on board which made for a great experience. Triangle-shaped parking lot across the railroad tracks makes it a little tricky to get out but I still appreciate that there's parking. The food was much better than what I had expected. The ambience is older school diner, but the food is great! I ordered what was probably the best French toast of my life with strawberries. My partner ordered an omelette, which he enjoyed and said the consistency was really good (not a fan of runny or dry). We were also pleased with the prices, and the immediate seating on a busy weekend morning. We had previously been quoted 1-2hr wait times at other local restaurants. The atmosphere is very much like an old diner and come hungry because the portions are large and cheap. So glad I deviated from my norm (not that their breakfast us not good). The Pot Roast was melt in your mouth great. Baby Carrots were sweet and buttery and of course included their famous Homemade Bread. My waitress was a sweet old lady that reminded me of my Grandmother. Nicolet is a staple to De Pere for all from broke college kids to hungover young adults to families to seniors. The prices are the BEST you will find anywhere for the quality and quantity. It's your typical diner atmosphere with super friendly staff, rotating specials, and a tasty selection of sweet treats. It doesn't have anything fancy but it doesn't need it. Farmers Feed is a must. During the week you can usually ask for any of the ingredients to be taken out but on the weekend it's their normal mix with mushrooms, onions, sausage, bacon and cheese. Breakfast = Nicolet. I will honestly eat at Nicolet for breakfast 4/5 times when I take a 7/8 day trip back to DePere. Its that good. Double Farmers Feed is the best. I've tried to recreate it in my own kitchen but can't. There needs to be a wikileak on this recipe. The thick cut toast is delish with a little slab of butter and their homemade jam (comes with the beloved Farmer's Feed). Staff is always friendly, and even though things can get congested (on weekend mornings around 9:30 for example), they are always doing their best to seat you quickly and get your order back to the kitchen. And you will be pleasantly surprised with how fast that steaming plate of breakfast goodness makes its way to your table. And the prices are very reasonable.
