Service was amazing , staff very friendly. We had breakfast, I had hashbrowns with eggs. Hashbrowns were terrible, soft, mushy no flavor, I did not eat them. My girlfriend got biscuits and gravy. Great little hidden gem in Green Bay. I always love biscuits and gravy and Allouez Cafe does NOT disappoint. The bread is made daily and the gravy is unlike anything I've had before. Waitresses are not friendly, locals/regulars are catered to while they aren't accommodating to people visiting new restaurants. Very small portion sizes. Pancakes are small and not very good, I ordered 'extra potatoes' American Fries for $2.50 up charge and got literally 16 thin silced cheap potato fries. Took a long time to get served, had to ask for coffee refills. Inside is very dated. No potatoes come with a $10+ omelete for some reason. Terrible overall experience, I will NEVER give them my business again. Now I know why other restaurants are packed this one is dead near lunch time/late morning. Do not go here! read more

Tucked away in healthcare strip mall. Hard to find yet busy enough, most likely because they have been there for 33 years! Food was fair priced but I did think that the portions were rather small. My wife and I were meeting three friends for lunch. We got there a few minutes before the others and we decided to go in, get a table and look at the menus while waiting. We asked for a table for 5 and the staff asked if everyone in our party was present. We indicated they were enroute and we were told we couldn't be seated and had to wait. What? I've never seen this. The first experience I had here a couple of years ago was not good. Therefore, we general avoided going here. Yesterday my Father-in-law wanted to go here for breakfast so we sucked it up and went. I am actually really glad we did. This time the food was really good for a diner. I ordered the $5.95 breakfast special that had two eggs, two sausage patties, two pieces of toast. Ordering my eggs over-easy is always hit or miss but they executed them to perfection. The sausage patties were excellent with a little sear on them the way I like. They also had plenty of little jams to pick from. Overall I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the items I ordered. The portions were not overwhelmingly large which I appreciated. The service was also quick. The waitress was sweet and funny. Just remember this is a diner and you will be happy. Stop in if you want a quick breakfast sometime. read more

We were absolutely blown away by their service. We went in on a Sunday after another place in the area was wayyyy too packed with a long wait time. Simply the way we were acknowledged once we came in blew me away. Every single person inside that place emits happy good vibes. The wait staff was fabulous. The food was very good, but with the high level of customer service they provided they could have served me a dry biscuit and I would have been just as ecstatic. I couldn't stop talking about how great the service was all day. There is something magical about that place. Other restaurants in the area----take note! Allouez Cafe knows how to take care of their customers and it is very clear THEY ACTUALLY CARE. Thank you for giving Greg and I a breakfast to remember. We will be back! read more

I prefer non-chain restaurants, and when I come to Green Bay it's a bit harder to find one. We came here on a whim, and although the entrance was lacking, we still made it through the front door. The interior is a bit dated, but quaint and family style. It's also clean and the servers are very friendly. The owner is obviously a Packers fan :) We ordered simple eggs, toast, and bacon, and our plates came out within 5 minutes! Coffee was bottomless :) it's a good place for a low-key meal with reasonable prices, and conversation. read more

Have you ever been to a family function held in a basement rec room? You know, not even one of those walk-out ranches but an actual carpeted full basement with the white drop ceiling and the attempts to hide the duct work? Maybe they've furnished it with furniture that used to be upstairs but got downgraded to the basement about a decade ago. You know exactly what I'm talking about, right? The Allouez Cafe is like eating in that basement rec room. Furniture out of the Seventies, weirdly dark with no windows, and a feeling of dankness. But who cares about the feel of the joint if the food is good, right? Sorry, Allouez Cafe may have won a Golden Fork Award in 2008, but whichever cook brought home that award has long since left this particular kitchen. The menu is "meh" and the worst thing? One of our diners even had to send his English muffin back because it was inedible. My own toast was burned too (but I didn't want to complain after the very good waitress already seemed way too overworked) and it wasn't just our table. Every piece of toast I saw coming out of the kitchen was burned. Not dark... BURNED. On another side note (and one that is completely out of the control of the proprietors): the topic of discussion of the day seemed to be anti-Obama from every quarter. There was so much conservative propaganda happening at the other tables that I started to wonder if there wasn't some kind of Rush Limbaugh Ditto Head convention happening there. Everyone is entitled to their own political opinion, but it was just surprising to me to overhear so many Right Wing discussions happening in one location. The wait staff is top notch, however! The food was good and the price was fair. The atmosphere is older and cute. Made me feel like I would have liked to have breakfast with my grandmother here. Wifi was available which was nice. This is definitely a locals place - the breakfasts come with homemade bread (I had the wheat and the raison) which is incredible. Try the Eggs Benedict! Okay, the good. The food for not being home made was good. Now, for the not good. When we walked in the waitress put the menu on my napkin. Gross. The cook rubbed his head. Over, and over. With gloves on. I asked for water. I received the water in. What I would call a kids glass. And I had to wait for ever for more. One of the guys. That later was checking people out. Used his hands. After rubbing his hands on his clothes. Took a lemon and put it on a cup of soda. No gloves. Again gross. There was too many things going on that made me feel like. Giving more stars. Please close the window that let's people see the cook. Or tell the cook to stay away. And $7.75 for a tuna sandwich. On bread!! Really!! And no I didn't have that. read more

This place really surprised us. We walked in expecting to find a hipstery little bakery/cafe and instead found a generic diner from the 60s with what seemed like every senior citizen in town. I know this sounds horrible, but keep reading. My friend and I, both near 29 years old and the only people under 70 in the place, contemplated leaving but ended up staying after engaging in a conversation with the server at the bar. I'm really glad we did. The menu is very plain-Jane, but WOW - the food is DELICIOUS!! It came out in less than 5 minutes and was A-MAZ-ING. It was also HUGE. I can't say enough good things about the food, and you should definitely give this place a chance. I would not hesitate to come back here in a heartbeat. Also, our waitress at the bar was so cool. Our first waitress seemed very disinterested in even existing at that particular moment, but the bar waitress was very friendly, attentive, and gave us some great advice about the area. Nice in and out breakfast spot. The majority of patrons are retirees out socializing. I like their French toast made on homemade bread. No windows which makes it seem more exclusive. Definitely a local spot. I would like it better if the syrup were not in pre-packaged containers. I want my food to be food! It's not like it's all that inexpensive, really. The specials are definitely cheap, but regular breakfast entrees will cost just as much as IHOP. I want to like the Allouez Cafe. I really want to like it; we've been there four or five times - but each time we leave saying "why did we go there?" The food is acceptable, but nothing remarkable. Small portions, but more expensive than its local competition. I had french toast, which was fine - but syrup in packages? My husband's eggs were cold as was the toast and his order of hash browns were like a small spoon full serving. And then there is the help. I think the Allouez has a lot of older, repeat customers and the help seems chatty with them, which is nice - but they need to extend that hospitality to newcomers also. We both ordered coffee - and finally flagged down another waitress for a refill because our waitress was hanging out behind the counter visiting with the other help. Our first waitress did come back later & deliberately filled our coffee cups to the brim! Not sure what that was about; all we did was politely ask another waitress for more coffee? My dad and I enjoyed breakfast here twice while staying nearby at the Hawthorn Suites. Both experiences were perfect! It's a comfortable cafe that feels warm and friendly right when you walk in. The staff are friendly and inviting. Our breakfasts were delicious both mornings especially the French toast. I think it's made with their own homemade bread. Our waitress was friendly and exceptionally efficient. The place is loaded with Packer memorabilia as it should. If I ever make it back to Green Bay, I would certainly dine here again! read more

While staying at a nearby hotel, we decided to check-out this neighborhood delight. We walk into this dungeon-like diner and wait at the door by the "Wait to be seated" sign." There are 4 customers total in the whole place, that's less than the number of employees working. A real gem of a waitress looks at us from across the diner, she gives us that look that expresses what an inconvenience we must be. Five minutes later she comes over and seats us immediately behind the only other customers at a table, so much for any resemblance of privacy. She gives us some spotty silverware and a dirty look then goes for our drinks. We want to leave already, why didn't we leave? Another waitress comes to help us, she is actually pleasant. Things are looking up right? Wrong!! She takes our orders, mine was soup and grilled cheese sandwich (hard to screw that up) and my fiance's was grilled chicken sandwich with bacon, then we wait patiently for our lunch. The soup comes first and it seems edible. Then our food plates arrive: the bread on my grilled cheese is so crooked that their are 8 corners instead of 4 (hard to express without a pic), and I think the little bit of cheese in it was Krap Singles (aren't we in Wisconsin, cheese state)?? My fiances sandwich has nothing on it and everything on the side, ok whatever. The chicken on her sandwich was cooked to a hard leathery finish and the bacon was so far beyond done that it was crumbling into ashes, horrible. She eats a few bites, looks disgusted and gives up, so I give it a try, bad idea. There is a small cup of mayonnaise on the side of the sandwich, after spreading and eating some we realize that the mayo has clear chunks in it. Seriously?!?!?! Thoroughly disgusted, we decide that we would avoid confrontation and just pay up and go. We contemplate how much tip to leave. We decide that the waitress, although friendly, knows what kind of dog filth they are serving so she is just as guilty as her co-workers. No tip. Harsh?? My wife & I arrived for breakfast at 7:30 and the hostess greeted us. 2? Yes. She turned, picked up 2 menus and walked away from us. We followed her. She dropped the menus on a table as she walked by and kept on going past the table without ever saying a word to us. We slid into our seats and noticed she was leaning against a counter reading a paper. Later, when paying for our bill, my wife said she again said nothing, just took her money from her and rang up the bill. If that was the extent of the morning we'd never go back. However, our waitress was as good as the hostess was bad. She was friendly, fast and very attentive to our needs. The food was good at a price just slightly above the average priced cafe breakfast in Green Bay. We will probably go back and try it again but we sure hope the hostess is nowhere to be found. read more

We went to Allouez Café for a quick breakfast this last weekend. We definitely enjoy small town diner food so we thought this café fit the bill. The food was mediocre at best - cheese on the omelet had the consistency of nacho cheese. The reason why I feel they don't deserve more stars is the price. I substituted out the ham from my omelet for sausage - I knew this would come with a price, but I did not expect to be charged separately for adding sausage AND removing the ham. I went into Allouez Cafe today for lunch . And i asked the waitress if the baked icelandic haddock had bones in it she replied no mama . I receieved my food and sure enough there was bones in my haddock. After leaving i got sick. My mother ate the breaded haddock and it took a half hour to get it then if thats not bad enough my mother had to ask for her coleslaw. I want my money back. read more
