The place: Very open floor plan, plenty of seating for diners. Just about every table has some good light coming at it from the big front windows. A fair amount of outlets available for your device charging needs. The location: 2 hour street parking available out front. Kinda located in a weird spot amongst busy street and Asian grocery stores. The service: Super cheerful and very helpful. Luckily, no one was behind us be abuse we needed some time to think and peruse the lunch menu. The woman who took care of us was very patient and offered us a variety of milks for our drinks. Our sandwiches came out swiftly and HOT. The food/drink: The sandwiches were good! The Florentine grilled cheese was very gooey and kinda slipping out from between the bread, but I'm game for a messy sandwich. The southwest grilled cheese tasted pleasantly like a homemade taco dip. My companion and I both got potato chips and I was a little disappointed that they were Lay's instead of homemade, but a potato chip is a potato chip and I loved the salt. Also came with two Itty bitty pickles! The chai was very good, and my Moose mocha was AWESOME. It came with homemade whipped cream which was made of childhood dreams. The books: A disappointing selection although The Attic is falling victim to comparison to the other bookstore I went to today. Looks like mostly used books, all very reasonable priced (I picked up a fairly new paperback that was marked for $5). LOTS of fiction. Worth browsing, but if you're looking for something specific, I'd recommend a shop with a larger selection. Next time: I'm getting some tea. Tea nerds, this is your new haven. (If ya don't know, now ya know... ) I love tea and profess to know a relative amount about it and this place knocked my socks off. Extensive selection and very knowledgeable staff. Pleasantly surprised and then some! If fancy coffee drinks are your thing, they've got you covered on that tip, too. (I'm a "black like my soul coffee drinker" so you won't often find me with any salted caramel anything, but this place does really thoughtful looking specialty coffee drinks, on the real.) It's a bookstore, too! Do you like books? I do. I like them tangible, still. Call me old school, but I dig holding an actual book as opposed to a reader. Regardless, all times I've ordered my Iced Caramel Macchiato (Starbucks style), it's turned out AMAZING and even better than Starbucks I might say! There is a table in the form of a chessboard, another in the form of a checkerboard (both with pieces to play), a substantial book collection, and ample room to spread out (mostly "normal" tables). There's an extensive tea list, pastries, a recent hot-food menu, and the espresso was outstanding. Their cookies were very decent also (these simple baked goods are often poorly treated at cafes, so they're a good test of attention to bakery detail). TBH this place could be really awesome, but I've been to way nicer coffee shop--this place is a huge let down. The barista was very slow and it wasn't really busy. It was clear she was "checked-out" of work and was lolly-gagging. I ordered a hot tea and it was severely burned. The water was way way too hot for the type of tea that I ordered so the outcome was bitter burnt tea. If you know burnt tea, you know that it's not pleasant to drink. If you're looking for a cute-sy coffee shop with good quality drinks and food, you're better off going to a starbucks cause this place was not great. read more

How can I have never been here before? I always get coffee from The Attic at the Farmer's Market, and it is very good. I did the Cafe Crawl and this was one of the stops, really cool place with a great atmosphere. Great coffee and I really love the tea flights. They also have great food and a large selection of bakery items. If you want to sit and have great food and beverages in a laid back atmosphere, skip Starbucks and come here for sure, better prices, better coffee, tons of books and you are supporting local business. read more

The Attic is another great gem in Green Bay. I've always gone here for meeting people or just going some where to get some work done in a quiet place. It's very open with plenty of chairs and tables. If your like me and you're not a coffee drinker, but you like tea, then this a go-to place as they have some of the best and wide selection of teas. Stopped in because I was looking for a specific book and I have never been here. This coffee shop is spacious and cute. I ordered a latte special "go for the gold". It had hazelnut and honey flavoring. It was served in a giant mug and I sipped it while looking over their vast book collection. I liked the latte I just wish I had the option of almond or soy milk. It was also rather pricy for two drinks. They did not have the book that I was looking for but they had plenty of other options. I really wanted to like this place. I'd been introduced to the Attic through their wonderful Saturday Market cupcakes and from the description, it sounded like just the spot I was looking for. As a grad student, I was seeking out a comfortable spot to do some work while facilitating productivity with a little caffeine. I ordered a soy latte that was not only more expensive than Starbucks, but really wasn't that good. While being served in a real coffee mug is wonderful, what's in it makes a difference too. If I go back, I'll try something with regular milk hoping it's the soy they use and not their coffee that isn't so great. Lots of retiree looking types were hanging around playing board games, cards, and browsing the books. They seemed to get together regularly and enjoy the place. I'll probably give the Attic another try, maybe for their live music, but from what was described as a cozy coffee shop/book store I had hoped for more. read more

The best coffee, cool books, great games, a friendly atmosphere and local coffee shop feel... this place is incredible. I used to live in Green Bay and would go here whenever I could. I loved playing their chess table even though I absolutely suck at chess. They have a great selection of board games for their customers to use while enjoying their brew. The artwork and poetry was all local, and really good. The employees and management are amazing... I remember one time I became very ill while I was at the Attic (I had been in a car accident the night before which had forced me to stand in deep snow in high heels waiting for the police to arrive, and as a result I became very sick with a debilitatingly high fever). One of the employees (I couldn't tell who through my fever) drove me home and gave me some over-the-counter medicine to help me feel better. Now that's customer service! I haven't even one suggestion to make the Attic better or even the smallest complaint. It's just perfect! I don't live in Green Bay anymore, though... I just wish they'd open a location by me! I'm much more into coffee now and probably would never leave :) read more

I usually come here to sip some java while I use the Wi-Fi at times I do not have Internet at home. I like the fact that I can sit in there all day long and even read books while I drink, although I admit I'm usually on the PC when I go there. My favorite is the darkest roast they have, but I also did enjoy some of the flavored coffee I tried. I love the atmosphere, and I have heard some good live music there at times. A friend of mine and I did play checkers on their giant game tables once, and I tried their green tea a few times too. Sometimes, I also order a biscotti for my drink. On one occasion, I tried the hummus plate with the baby carrots and pita bread. However, I do not eat their very often because the food is a bit pricier than I would like it to be. It would be nice also if they didn't charge for regular coffee or tea refills. Still, all in all, it's a nice place to sit and relax or work. Best latte/espresso/coffee in Green Bay AND this place helped me maintain my sanity. So when I lived in Green Bay I came to the Attic rather often. Being a big city person who loved to hang out in independent coffee houses, have intellectual conversations with academically minded people, and read books from the canon of western literature, I must say that moving from London to Green Bay proved to be challenging at times, as most people I encountered only watched football, drank till they couldn't walk, and only read the comics in the Sunday paper. It was a dramatic culture shock for me. Thanks to the employees at the Attic and to the regulars who hang out there, I was able to meet some like-minded people, join a writer's group, and meet friends who were well-read and travelled. Not only does The Attic serve up the best coffee in town, but they also sell some cool, unique books and almost always offer a great collection. I once picked up a beautiful set of old books by Proust at a real bargain! They also have chess and checkers, where regular patrons can challenge one another to a friendly game over a cup of coffee. Also, there are comfy sofas and chairs for those who want to stay a while with a coffee drink and a good book. They have good food too: sandwiches and treats, etc. Their coffee is of good quality and beats Starbucks out by a landslide. The coffee tasted like it was brewed at double strength and had an intense bitterness that was very unpleasant (my husband couldn't take more than a sip of his).The book half of the shop is like what would happen if the local thrift store went out of business and donated their books. We come here after the dog park at Whitney park, as my daughter loves the hot chocolate and playing on their giant chess board. The drinks are always good, especially the daily specials- unique and interesting. My only qualm with the attic has to do with attitude and service- we went there after the dog park, and purchased three different coffee drinks and asked for a cup of water to take outside for our dog, since we had left the house without one (our fault).
