Love this place. The staff is always so helpful and friendly. So much so that when they heard my sister lost her wallet and we spent the last hour trying to track it down they gave us each a free cookie for having to deal with all the stress of having to find it. Located in a small strip mall in what appears to be a former bank drive thru, Copper Rock doesn't give off a strong impression from the outside but after this visit, I am super impressed with this lovely coffee shop and it's very clear that others share that same fondness. They offer a large variety of breakfast and lunch options that go far beyond a normal pastry and coffee. Their breakfast sandwiches are generously sized (and tasty!) at very affordable price points. There will likely be a 5-10 minute wait during peak hours as the drive thru line builds up quickly but I say go inside, enjoy the charm and coziness of Copper Rock while you wait and take inventory of their baked goods, packaged treats and eye the menu for your next return because this Appleton gem is worth a return trip. I'm on a work trip and when I arrived the first stop had to be coffee. I love a good local coffee shop, so I chose Copper Rock. I first went to the downtown location, super unique location, with tall brick walls, spaced out seating and an additional room to the side. The barista was really friendly with a good recommendation of their pumpkin spice latte, I also bought a scone to pair. The coffee was excellent! It had just the right amount of flavor without making the latte too sweet. The scone, fantastic as well! It wasn't too dry, the blueberries tasted fresh baked in and the size was a perfect snack. I had such a good experience that I had to go again this morning. This time, a different location but to my surprise this one had the convenience of a drive thru! Again the staff were extremely nice. I ordered the salted caramel mocha, with a few modifications and usually I get scoffed at for being "picky" although I ask before making the changes, but the barista was super patient. A great size and a low price. They asked me to pull up to the curb as I waited for my food, but the wait was only around 2-3 minutes. I also ordered the southwest Turkey sandwich and wow, this place is added on my top breakfast sandwich places list! I tried them for the first time since I work so close. I got a half a chicken wrap and side salad. The side salad was good but the chicken wrap was horrible. It should be called the mayo wrap. Cute coffee shop on the north side of Appleton. I used to live quite nearby, so I'd stop here sometimes on the way into work, or other random times when I just needed a fix. They have a drive thru, which is great, and not always a thing with coffee shops. They have lots of seating inside, too, from tables and chairs to more comfy oversized/overstuffed chairs if that's how you like to enjoy your coffee. The selection is great, they have good coffee options as well as the specialty lattes, etc. (they put together some fun and inventive flavor combinations, or just make your own). They have almond and soy milk too, so that's a bonus. They also have bakery items and some food-to-order, so you can really make this place whatever you're in the mood for. Service has been hit or miss, so that's why I can't give a full five stars. On a recent visit we were helped by like, five different people during our (take-out) visit, and each of them seemed very harried and not quite what was going on. But overall, this is a great place for either a quick stop or a more sit-down experience! read more

The young lady at the drive thru window had no clue what our order was. She almost forgot two items. We ordered two drinks and two breakfast burritos - one chorizo and the other was black bean. The outside was warm but BOTH were still cold on the inside.. We were already on our way out of town and couldn't come back to get a refund. I am a frequent costumer of the Northside Copper rock, but recently, the quality seems to have gone down. The customer service is usually really great, the employees are very helpful and kind. However, whenever I order paninis the bottom is usually burned and the top is never cooked enough. Is this the grill you're using? The drinks are consistently pretty good. Although, the espresso, especially recently, has tasted quite weak even when I order an extra shot. Hopefully these issues are just temporary. I always enjoy my time at Copper Rock, but the quality lately just hasn't been the same. read more

We just built a home about a mile from this location - was looking forward to Copper Rock until we experienced it. Why would the same beverage take twice as long to make as the competition? Third (and last attempt) to be a customer was Sunday. Spend several minutes 'trying' to order at the drive through. The gal on the other end of the microphone could not get my order correct - we finally gave up and left. I thought I'd call and let them know - but no manager was available. I did get lectured that management knew the microphone didn't work well so it wasn't 'their' fault. read more

What a horrible experience. The coffee was mediocre at best, and the four staff behind the counter managed to forget our food order - and they weren't even busy! We waited nearly 25 minutes, approached the counter after we saw the only other table receive their breakfast sandwiches (a family of four), and were told it would be 10 minutes to get our food. At that point, we had to head to our destination and couldn't wait any longer. They were unapologetic, incompetent and, when they issued our refund for the food we never received, they had the audacity to not give us a full refund. Completely and totally disappointed and angry! Visited for lunch today with gal pal - they screw up our order, we told them - it took staff almost 30 min to correct it a they didn't apologize. Food quality is not what it use to be. On a scale of 1 - 10 we give this place a one. The staff was not very friendly and seemed bothered when you try to order. Too many other great places in Appleton to choose from. We will not be back. Attention owner - either get your act together or close your doors. I stop in about once per week, it's one of the top coffee joints in town if you're a pure coffee lover! I always get their light roast coffee of the day (it's always fun and different) with cream. Their coffees are SO flavorful and different, just between light roast, dark or decaf, I really enjoy the freshness. My favorite is the Tanzanian Peaberry...They are better than Starbucks blonde roasts, for sure, and I always end up getting a 50 cent refill before I leave. The chocolate aphrodisiac cake is Thee Best! Staff is warm and friendly, and they'll even let you play the old upright piano at the downtown location if you ask nicely! read more

Once I tried a vanilla latte at Copper Rock, there was no going back to Starbucks. Copper Rock's drinks are richer, more of a roasted flavor, so they have more depth to them. Not the flat, oversweet flavor of a Starbucks latte. Copper Rocks also makes delicious sandwiches, wraps, salads and paninis. And their baristas are the friendliest anywhere. We had a large family group that wanted to visit with each other. When we placed our order it was made very clear to us that they were closing in 10 minutes and they did not want us staying beyond that time. Five minutes after sitting down we were reminded that they closed in 5 minutes. When the 5 minutes were up we were invited to leave. Didn't feel that we were respected as customers. Granted it was labor day, but we would have respected their time by leaving reasonably soon after closing. The food and drinks here were amazing! That's about it though. The rest of my experience was not great. I arrived at 9:00 am. The staff was dull, not excited to help me and were unprofessional in their conversations with me. The floor was filthy and obviously hadn't been cleaned that day. My salad was served on a dirty sticky plate and my panini (although delicious) had a hair on it. I would love to come back but I will probably visit the College Ave location instead and hope for a better experience. read more
