When I order Riesling, I usually prefer it just lightly sweet and aromatic on the tongue. This one was spot on, and I'm so happy with my choice. The dolma (stuffed grape leaves) were refreshing--I happily finished the whole plate. All in all, I'm here for open mic night on a Monday, and the vibes are great. Wow - so many amazing things to say about this authentic Italian restaurant. We originally came to Old Town to go to another restaurant but it was so busy & they were playing such loud music we decided to find another place. We happened upon Epicure here on Google & were intrigued by the photos. Upon walking in it was a calm, cozy & welcoming environment. Our server Feliciano was very attentive and friendly. We started with Arancini and opted for Pasta Carbonara and Shrimp Penne Vodka for our entrees. We asked our waiter to bring us his recommendation of wine pairing for each entree and it was amazing choices. We ended our dinner with their Tiramisu which was just as delicious as everything else. My husband and I went to Epicure on King just before Christmas and were seriously impressed. From the moment we sat down, our waiter Feliciano was top-tier attentive, warm, and made the entire experience feel special. We started with the arancini. It was good and enjoyable, Now the mains? SO good. The lasagna was rich, comforting, and full of flavor. But the real star for me was the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken--hands down one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. Unassuming Italian restaurant in Old Town with great food at a very affordable price I came here for dinner with my fiancé on a Friday night. Although the space is pretty small there were tons of tables available, as there were only 2 other parties in the place. Both the food and drink menus are large, and they are also surprisingly eclectic as well. Did not realize this was the former Michaels! Tiny inside but cozy and very quiet on a Saturday night. Therefore service was super fast. I did not see any live jazz performance but that's ok! Food was good, very solid but not amazing. The dolma appetizer was fresh and tasty. I tried the penne vodka and it was good and not a huge serving size. I only had a bit leftover. I went here for restaurant week with my friend and it did not disappoint. We came in early on a Saturday evening and there was nobody in the restaurant. Even so the waiter treated us so kindly and let us sample wines before ordering a glass. There was a live performer playing the piano which was nice and added to the ambiance. The food was delicious! Really nice experience. Great service from Feliciano (5*) despite also taking care of a large group of 10 near us. Cute decor that retains some of the "home" dining feel. Multi-floor options with a small martini bar on the 2nd and potential live music on the 1st. I enjoyed the Greek Salad. Fresh ingredients and good flavor. I really enjoyed the Lasagna. It was a large portion and great flavors. I tasted the Shrimp Penne Vodka. It had meatballs added. The meatballs were really good. With some room for dessert, I had the Lemoncello Cake. Nice place on King Street in Old Town Alexandria. My wife and I decided to try it after seeing the excellent experiences other reviewers had. Decor was interesting, space was intimate, and food was overall very good. However, the service here was one of the worst experiences I'd ever had. The menu had clear misspellings that are currently still printed on their website as of 2/14/2026. After making an order based on the menu, we were told, "We can't serve it to you that way" -- though the menu indicated otherwise. That's OK, I'll get over it, but the experience only got worse from there: --Called beforehand to ask about gluten-free dishes, and I recall them saying they could accommodate, but then waitress said they could not accommodate many dishes. --Waitress confirmed our order 3x, but ... --We were later given another tables' dishes, though we noted our food sensitivities. --We were also given the wrong bill initially. --It took about 10-15 minutes to get a to-go box and pay our bill. This level of screw up was hard to comprehend, as there were only 1 or 2 other tables served at the same time. I could not figure out why it took so much time to iron out problems with the orders. My impression is that owners did not train properly the waitress, so I don't blame her entirely. Many restaurants will seek to compensate their patrons if they were meaningfully inconvenienced. There was no recognition of the many errors they made. Given our experience, I wouldn't return anyway even if our meal was free. I hope they get the service issues ironed out and get better, but I can't recommend this place -- especially given the food allergy accommodation problems. Given the other reviews for this place, experience may depend on your server, so attend at your own risk. read more

I saw a pic of the lasagna that looked so mouth watering that it compelled me to drive 30 minutes here. unfortunately, The serving I received was but a third the size of the pic I saw. When I asked about the comparison to the pic on Yelp that led me here the server acted like it wasn't even their dish (though the background in the pic is clearly Epicure) The server was unapologetic but since I was starving and drove so far I just accepted it. I asked are they cutting costs or something as to the reason why the dish was markedly reduced in portion and he said yes. I was taken aback by the cavalier response. On top of that, the menu prices and selections are the same. The fact that the sample portion was actually pretty tasty made this even more disappointing .. I had high hopes for this place. The food is fantastic and the vibes are great. It was very empty when a friend and I went last night but once word gets out, I can see it becoming a fantastic meeting spot for dates, hangouts, or families. I was lucky enough to get a tour of the top two floors which weren't open yet but the second floor bar/music and the top floor cigar lounge have me very excited. The warm bread served with olive oil and zatar was a nice touch and paired very nicely with the Iranian pilsner before my meal of the eggplant lasagna which was absolutely incredible. Three for lunch this day, our server Feliciano was very friendly and attentive and went above and beyond with his service. We ordered 2 croque monsieur sandwiches with fries and a chicken parm sub with fries, while the croque monsieur's got raves the chicken parm was merely ok, the fries were plentiful, tasty and crispy. While waiting for our sandwiches we tried the in house baked bread that was good, the dipping oil was ok but a little over seasoned for my taste, overall a good experience and will go back again to try the dinner menu. read more

This place is an underrated gem in Old Town. My boyfriend, our friend, and myself went on a Friday night and had the best service we've had in such a long time - shoutout, Feliciano! We got a bottle of the Sauv B, two entrees (seafood lasanga and filet mignon), and a dessert (the limoncello cake) all for $100 TOTAL because they were running a special that night. Everything was yummy. The server let us know of their upstairs bar which has live music multiple times a week and their multiple happy hours during the week as well. Their website doesn't link to a usable reservations page or advertise their happy hours, though. This place opened up about 7 months ago, so think if they added more information to their website and maybe created an instagram, they'd attract a lot more new, loyal customers. read more
