I came in today to get my bindings mounted on my skis and a guy named Josh was extremely rude and told me that I had to get brand new bindings because they wouldn't fit my skis. I ordered my bindings through a friend who got me a great deal that worked at a different ski shop and my friend asked if he could speak to this guy Josh over the phone. After handing Josh my phone, he proceeded to yell at my friend for helping me get a good deal on skis and bindings and told him that he was "violating policy". Josh cared so much, that he called the Salomon rep who then called my friend and yelled at him for helping me out (are you kidding? who cares!). I then went to Christy sports and they told me I just needed wider breaks and they cut the price in half for going there instead of Boulder Ski Deals. Worst ski shop in Boulder, by far. read more

I've never posted a bad review before but felt compelled to today after possibly the worst customer service I have ever experienced. After having spent nearly 2K early this year at this store I went back to have some adjustments made to a ski boot giving me issues. After signing in at the Alpine area I was met by Mark who proceeded to give me a lecture on how I was not properly warming my boots and stated he should have cards printed for people like me with the instructions he proceeded to give me. I was then introduced to Bart who agreed my boot should be adjusted and would help me because Mark was no longer going to help. We wait for his return and then I notice him leaving the store. I realize at this point (sitting there shoeless and there for 30 minutes that I have been deserted) - mind you that I have been very patient and respectful. Finally I complain to the employee helping another customer and he helps me - I did get his name sadly because he was helpful and apologized. I manage a sales team so know what good and bad service means to clients - in this case it means my business will go elsewhere in Boulder where I normally find exceptional service. Epic staff said they were so busy - I suspect this won't be an issue in the long term with such poor service. read more

Jim was terrific in recommending skis and bindings--we agreed that it would be better for me to get the boots from another retailer because Boulder Ski Deals inventory of ladies' touring boots was limited--and he went the extra mile to locate the skis and bindings at other stores and to arrange them to be delivered to the Boulder store. I've never been snowboarding and had no idea what I was looking for. I got the standard 'can I help you' question and was wary per usual ... But when the employees at Boulder Ski Deals ask this question, put yourself into their hands. They're geniuses when it comes to this stuff. I spent 2 1/2 hours that flew by and ended up fully decked out in everything that was perfect for me. It wasn't all the 'new' stuff. I wanted to thank the gal who helped me get fit for my first set of ski equipment! She did an amazing job fitting me for a boot that actually fit my challenged feet. She could tell I have arch issues and had a support put in. I can't tell you how excited I was to get such a huge discount on a used boot. Looked and felt brand new! I used the skis yesterday for my 3rd time skiing and finished the day, comfortably, on the blues and my feet felt great. And my right knee didn't hurt! I am also vertically challenged and she dug out a correctly sized ski that also had a mad discount, new. Calculated discount 58%. Thank you! I'll be back next season to get her help again! I would NOT recommend the kids season ski rental program. The skis were not tuned and were very dirty. Other places in town tune the skis prior to renting them out. Also they would not immediately adjust the DIN settings. They told me that I had to wait for 3 days to pick up the skis unless I wanted to pay a $35.00 "rush" fee. The adjustment takes about 1 minute and there were no customers waiting. I work at a CO ski area so I adjusted the bindings myself and had a pro check it out. I am going someplace else next season. There are plenty of other places with better service for a similar price. read more

I came in two days before Christmas to get a snowboard, boots, and bindings. We were helped immediately upon entering by Ellen. In the past, picking out gear has been difficult because there are so many different prices and models. Ellen was unbelievably knowledgable about all of the gear for sale. The staff here is great! I once went in prepared to spend $150+ on new snowboard boots because I thought mine were the wrong size. Instead, the guy working in the boots area sized me and said I had actually purchased the right size. He could have easily made a sale and just sold me a bigger boot, but he was honest that I didn't need a bigger size. Instead, he told me to bring my boots in the next day and he'd look at them. Sure enough, I went in the next day and he did a hot mold on the boots and they fit perfectly. I later found out that he wasn't even supposed to be working that day and that he'd come in just to make sure I was taken care of. Now that's the type of service that sets Boulder Ski Deals WAY above the rest! I'll never go anywhere else for my snowboard/winter gear! read more

I had some trouble with a service employee getting my new skis and bindings mounted and I was really disappointed. The mishap nearly sent me looking for a new shop to work. However after I left the shop that same day I was contacted by Mario the manager who just wanted to hear me out. We talked, I vented, and when I decided to come back in he personally helped me get everything done right and expedited the work. I truly felt valued as a customer. Mistakes happen, and it's disappointing for sure, but when somebody goes out of their way to make up for that it really makes a difference. If you're trying to outfit your family with gear, this is hands down the best deal we've found in Colorado - and we've done Christy's for several years and REI before that. As far as service goes, we felt it nothing short of spectacular. Elliot and his team took great care of us (our fitters were Charles, Malcolm, Brendan, and Dale) and each took ample time with our kids to determine both the correct boot and ski size. This was not an easy task: my kids are 8, 6, 4 1/2, and almost 3. Strong willed, stubborn, and easily bored. And let's be honest, getting fitted for ski boots isn't fun no matter how old you are. These guys were extremely patient and went out of their way to make sure the kids "had fun" while going through the process of trying on multiple boots. At one point (actually quite a few) my darling son decided it a great idea to rip apart every boot box he could find. Seriously, just kept ripping boxes despite all pleas and threats to stop. The he started grabbing random goggles out of boxes while we're fighting the 2 year old to get her boots on - trust me, this wasn't how you wanted to start a Saturday. I'm only including these details because the guys we worked with handled the situation like pros. Elliot and his team were up to the challenge, and when you have an experience that far exceeds expectations, you want to share these "hacks" with other parents. Strongly recommend. Plus given that I can return these next year for a 50% credit (if we need to), and walked out with 3 sets of new and 1 set of used for 800 bucks, this was the deal of the century. I will add for context, not everyone will have the same experience we did. After 3 years of waiting until Oct/Nov to rent skis (holy epic waste of money) and knowing we needed 4 sets of all new equipment, we decided to be proactive. I also checked in with the store ahead of time to ask when the absolute "best" time to bring the kids in would be. I'm guessing based on past experiences the waiting will get longer - they even said, later in the season it's usually one fitter per family rather than one fitter per kid. That doesn't detract from the simple fact these guys knew what they were doing, were extremely helpful, and went out of their way to make our experience an excellent one (probably a good idea since we have 6 skiers in the family and have basically become a lifetime annuity). For a final note, my service experience was equally fantastic when I went to pick the sticks up. While I was prepared with 4 ski straps and a boot bag, Dan insisted on helping me out and carrying the skis. I only mention it because that doesn't happen often - there was simply not a single thing these guys could have done to improve my experience, except maybe given me an IPA. I hate leaving poor reviews but if any store deserves a one star review its this one. I originally decided to buy my ski boots here because of the satisfaction guarantee and lifetime work on ski boots. The only thing you have a guarantee of is a headache. I came in to get fitted for ski boots and was really clueless as a novice skier so I was really looking forward to getting some good advice. I usually wear a women's size 9 and I have a lot of ankle problems as well. The guy that fitted me had me trying sizes between a 23 and 23.5. Now I know ski boots should be really snug but not that snug. My toes were curled under my foot and I couldn't even buckle them. When I expressed this concern the guy fitting me told me that's what size I was and that if I wanted to try anything bigger he would make a note on my receipt saying that there would be a non satisfaction guarantee and that this store wouldn't touch these boots should any problems arise. So, I was basically bullied into getting a size 23.5. So I gave these boots one day of painful skiing before I brought them back. I calmly explained that I was not comfortable with boots this small and that I was pressured to purchase this size. The next guy who fitted me for boots actually agreed that a 23.5 was actually too small. So now I leave with boot #2 in a size 24.5. They felt fine in the store but when I got on the mountain I felt something poking the top of my foot. After just one run I had a welt on the top of my foot and when I got back to boulder it was already black and blue. The lining on the edge of the tongue was ripped off and my foot was exposed to the hard plastic. They tried filing that down and told me to try it again but the next day I was in even more pain. I came back down and again and told the store about my problem and they insisted on trying to keep filing the tongue down. I told them no, and that brand new boots shouldn't be missing a part of the lining and I'm not wasting any more days attempting to ski in clearly defective boots. So since they were out of stock of another pair of the same boots I tried on a different pair of boots. Then I left with boots #3! They should have fit perfectly, they were my size, no plastic edges cutting into my foot, but because bad things happen in 3's these boots made both of my feet hurt like hell. Of course they felt fine in the store but as soon as I was on the chair lift I realized that this was not going to be good. I barely made it down the mountain and had to have a friend drive my car around because I could not even walk across the parking lot. So I go back into boulder ski deals and I explain to heather that this is pair number 3 and that I'm in a lot of pain. She tells me part of the reason I'm in pain is because I'm buckling my boots incorrectly. She also told me that my ankle surgeon was an idiot for having me in the foot beds I was in (what?!) and that I probably wrecked boots #2 because of the way my foot is shaped. (She didn't see them. Obviously this is my fault....) So heather recommends that I buy a 50 dollar foot bed, and that she files down the top of my boot to give me more room. Oh, and she taught me how to buckle my boot. Then she files down the top of my boot so that it gives my foot more room. After she did that the left one started pinching me in the spot she filed down. Fantastic. Even when I said hey I think you filed it down too much it's pinching me she blamed my socks. How freaking typical. In conclusion, don't go here. I can get passed the long waits to get service. (And I mean long waits... Like block out 2-3 hours if you want help) I can even get passed the way the employees are condescending (they deal with skiers from boulder, Colorado all day... I can't blame them for the developing a defensive attitude.) I get that its retail and I'm sure a lot of customers think they know it all and a lot of them try to take advantage of stores like these. I'm not one of them. I wait patiently every time, I'm polite to the employees and I KNOW they know a hell of a lot more than I ever will so I respect their knowledge and experience. I'm just a novice skier and I want to be able to ski for a day without being in a lot of pain. I wish my favorite part of skiing wasn't the part where I get to take my boots off. I'm so frustrated with Boulder ski deals I will be selling my boots on Craigslist and starting fresh somewhere else. Too bad for them, my family just moved here and needs a dependable ski shop and it definitely won't be them. read more

First my children are in the trade up program. They fitted both of them wrong on boot size. We had to go back in to get bigger boots. They only had one in the right size. I had to rent boots and skis for one child, even though they were at fault for fitting them wrong in the first place, they made me pay to rent. After I turned the boots and skis back in they claim they cannot find the boots, and charged me 100. The manager was rude and unhelpful. I will never shop there again. If you are a woman, don't shop here, they will treat you like dirt. read more

Similar to a cliche car lot, the sales person in the ski section didn't ask very many questions or stop talking long enough for me to say very much. He talked fast, and a lot, but he knew his stuff. Naturally he pushed the newer, more expensive models, and wasn't very helpful when it came to narrowing down what would be best for me, but the negative feedback stops there. He was polite and gave me lots of information, and promised that anything I didn't like, for whatever reason, I could bring back and either get a refund or a different pair of skis. The people in the boot section were more attentive, asking questions and making sure I was comfortable, and even went out of their way to make sure the boots matched the skis. The service counter staff were fast, professional and courteous. Best of all, everything was 100% returnable and they even showed me how to adjust my own bindings so I won't have to pay someone on the mountain to do it. read more

I wrote one star for many reasons but let me tell you this isn't the place to buy snow boots. I'll never come here again. I get helped with this one sales guy that has an attitude thinking he knows more and makes me feel dumb I tell him I'm a 9 to a 9 1/2 street shoe. He tried convincing me to drop down to a 7 boot. He says it'll stretch this and that so I give it a shot believing him. came in initialy for boots that were too small and need a bigger. I try a 8burton boot. On the mountain my toes where numb and in pain it ruined my day. I have ridden horses and had to break in boots before but this was just a wrong size. So here I am paying ski lift+boots not to mention a snowboard as well so I spent well over 500 with these people. Now here is where I had an issue. Get the same skinny guy I tell him my issue. He replies with that I am wrong. Ok I say, but they shouldn't be hurting this bad even thought they might get a slight bigger. So I ask for a higher boot. He tell me no!!! What the fuck?!? I am reading these boots for bigger! Give me a bigger boot. But instead wastes my time my money and still is talking down in a condescending tone. I returned the boots got the correct size at Christys tried the size I wanted and I hadn't looked back. I will never waste my money there and that employee should be fired too bad I don't know his name. If I don't get an an apology from the owner or a public reach out I will tell everyone I know how awful the service is! Oh wait I posted it on Facebook. read more

Bought a pair of boys ski pants by Killtec. When my son put them on at home we noticed a rip in the knee. I brought the pants back to exchange them and the manager said they were not covered for damage when they leave his store. I informed him we just purchased them and he was just trying them on. A previous manager of mine had highly recommended that I purchase my next pair of ski boots at Boulder Ski Deals because their staff would spend the necessary time to ensure a great fit. A few weeks back, I went in, and informed one of their staff members that I really needed a solution to my uncomfortable boots. I could sense that he was in a hurry, but didn't realize that their store was closing so soon. I happened to have my boots with me, and after he verified that they were too large for my feet, he went ahead and recommended that I purchase some $45.00 inserts for the boots. While that may have helped with the lack of arch support, it did not help with the fact that the boots were simply too large. I went skiing with the boots and inserts the following weekend and was miserable. There was way too much room in the footbed and the calf area felt like it was held in place by a vice. In the process of making the inserts purchase, they obtained my email for future deals. I received an email from them this week about a President's Day sale so figured I'd stop in to see if they had any boots that were on sale that I could be fitted for. I did some research ahead of time to see which boots ran larger in the calf. This time, it was about 3 hours before closing time. As I walked through the door, there were about 6 or 7 employees talking to one another. I went over to the boots to price out some of the models that I had read about that were highly rated. After about 10 minutes of pricing those boot models, taking the notes against the reviews online on my phone, and witnessing the employees chatting amongst themselves, I promptly left the store and headed over to Christy Sports where I was greeted at the door and informed by the nice lady that the boot area was on the second level of the store. Right as I was picking up the boot that I had priced at Boulder Ski Deals (and was surprised to find was $30 less at Christy Sports), a nice young man greeted me to ask me if he could assist me with getting fitted for the right boot. That is what customer service is all about, and that is why Boulder Ski Deals will not be getting another penny of mine, nor will I recommend them to any of my friends. Their corporate VR ownership really shined through today, and let's just say that it was anything but impressive. read more
