Heard about this place and came couple time on Wednesdays and it closed. Finally happened to be in the area other than Wednesday, I ordered Vietnamese banh mi and spicy fish cake banh mi. Forgot say, the bread is quite good, better than majority of banh mi store around. For the fish cake, I was hoping the outside fish can be crispy (since it fried) and abit chewier - turned out it's just soft. But it's well seasoned and moist. For the Vietnamese, which is just combo but the meats is heated and wet (northern or middle version), which is unique and not bad at all. They are very generous on the veggies but they forgot or I forgot to ask for chilies. Over all the sandwiches are enjoyable and both cost $14 total. The store, in my opinion, big, spacious and airy - but messy. It needs to tighten things up (lack of water bottles or sodas in the cooler) or clean up the decor stuffs on the shelves (dusty). I received a Cripsy Coconut Durian Croissant and a Mungbean Durian Milk. It's so delish! The croissant is very thick, filled with lots of heavenly durian cream with coconut flakes and extra golden-baked cream on top! This is a must-try for all Durian Lovers! Prior to travel, I was looking up places to eat and the area we had to visit. We had to come to TK Plaza for che, the tea shop and nail supplies. I saw this on the map so wrote down Epic Baguette as a lunch spot if needed. I needed a snack on addition to my boba. This fit the bill. There are about 3 tables, with a few chairs inside. They offer a variety of items, not just banh mi. They also have Mille crepes and a variety of smoothie/juices. Needed to note this since my sister did the ordering, "anticipatory service was lacking. I ordered and told her we would eat later and she still put the Đồ Chua in." I thought service was a sales pitch, she kept offering us different foods and drinks to buy since we were gonna eat later. Meh. There is $15 minimum purchase if paying credit card. We ordered dac biet (combo) and chicken lemongrass. Chicken was lacking lemongrass taste. You could smell it but not taste it. Dac biet was filled with cha lua (vietnamese sausage/pork terrine) and slices of pork. Not what I was expecting in banh mi dac biet but I guess it's close. (Normally it's other pork cold cuts.) I was in a sour mood since I came to the plaza to visit my favorite orchid store, only to find that they were closed. I needed to find someone or something to punish for this atrocity; a sandwich shop seemed like easy picking. I was warmly greeted the moment I walked in. I placed my order and struggled in Vietnamese and luckily the owner spoke perfect English. She was very patient and took her time explaining the menu to me. I felt like she was more concerned with finding something that I'd like then just making a quick sale. So I ordered the meatball sandwich. When it came out, I was like WTF? Why is my sandwich hot? Did they actually take the time to toast my baguette? Yes they did and it made all the difference. The bread has a sourdough-like texture, if you've only been eating Wonder bread your whole life, you'll be shocked at the baguette texture. $6.75 for a sandwich isn't cheap but it isn't expensive in post-Covid times. Firstly, I want say that the banh mi's here are delicious and unique. I saw complaints about how small the banh mi's are compared to other spots. But if you look at the concept of their bakery it's more of French style and it's not meant to be like typical banh mi's spots like Tan Hoang Huong or Banh mi Che Cali. The bread is more sourdough like and it seems like they baked them freshly in store. Please look around and observe before writing reviews. Some banh mi's options has scallions or arugula in it. How can you compare this to typical Vietnamese spots? If anything this place is more gourmet for literally the same price as any other banh mi's spots. The education and technique the owner obtained to create these creations are worth the money spent here. If you want regular Vietnamese banh mi then this is not the spot for you. The flavors that this place has is unlike any other and I'm glad I stumbled upon it a few months ago. I've been coming back every other week and the sandwiches have been on my mind as one of my top spots. I'm not affiliated with this store and I feel that the negative reviews are not accurate. If you look at the bakery it seems like a mom and pop shop and the owner is running it by herself with some family members. It's ok, as long as the food and service are great. Everyone who starts a business takes time to build it up. I believe they are doing great and the food prices are reasonable. They are not charging over the top for nothing. If you like to support big corporations that have the funds to support making their businesses look up to par then please do so... but please don't criticized mom and pop shops over what kind of bag they use to give you the product. Once you step in you step in, that buttery bakery smell hits you and you know you're going to pick up some carbs to take home. I initially wanted the raisin danish but the cashier said it would be a 20 minute wait for fresh ones. Instead she suggested the almond croissant which was fresh out the oven. They're very generous with the almonds on top as well as the almond filling. After I paid and had my croissant she handed me samples of the croffle and Ube mochi bubble waffle. They were so good. To start, the service was terrible. The person taking your order had sunglasses and her hoodie on. Did not feel very inviting and the image in first encounter was nit impressive. I bought the spicy fish sandwich and was horrified to find that it was half the size of what banh mi's are. They were all so delicious. The baguette was crispy, and flavorful. I could rate their baguette's quality with 5*, they were truly French flavor. Ms. Ngoc & Tuong are the owner of Epic Bakery, they make their baguette and pastries with heart, they want to give their customers with the best quality they can since they are picky on choosing the ingredients. How do I know this? Because I had many chances to try their food at Ananda temple. Besides running 2 bakeries themselves, they've also been doing charity in the temple, donating food to the temple and serving food to monks there. Speaks both English and Vietnamese so that helps for people wanted to try a place. Service is good, but it only looks like two people work here (owner and prep). It's a contemporary bakery with white marble floors and counters. A small shelf for breads and crackers/cookies; and a small refrigerator with drinks (water, Nuoc Mat, and soda). Service at the counter is quick but the wait for the food after is pretty slow ad it's only two people working. It was busy on and off as we were waiting. We ordered: 2 Banh Mi Que Spicy Pate 1 Banh Mi Que Spicy Shrimp 1 Banh Mi Thit Cha 2 Ca Phe Sua Da 1 Purple Lover 1 Hojicha Latte 1 Nuoc May Total $51.XX ($$$$ for a Viet Banh Mi spot) First time having Banh Mi Que. Pretty solid - nice thinner baguette that's a lot crispier and flakier. There wasn't a lot of filling in the BMQ especially for the $6-6.60 price tag. The Banh Mi Thit Cha was very good. Fresh veggies and tasty Cha and sauce. The drinks were meh. Weak coffee flavor despite the owner asking if we wanted it stronger. And it tasted like it was made using whole milk and not condensed milk. The Hojicha and Purple Lover were mild on flavor - not as big of a punch as I was hoping. She refilled all our water bottles with ice/water before we headed off to the Disney parks. The Jamon Beurre sandwich is absolutely delicious! Thin slices of ham on French butter was something you would get in France. The baguette is like a thin French style, not thick and doughy, like other Viet sandwich places. The pate baguette is SOOOOO GOOD! We also bought the lemongrass beef baguette with arugula (great combination of ingredients) & a sea salt plum lemonade drink. LOVE IT! Excellent baguettes. Great to stop by for a quick bite or some Vietnamese coffee. Their cafe sue da tends to be quite sweet but when you let the ice melt a bit it has a great strong coffee flavor with a hint of chocolate. Their baguettes are definitely where they shine.
