Service was not very good. Food wasn't good at all. Tried a couple of things and none of the were impressing. The salmon was unseasoned and tasteless. Got the truffle mushroom pizza and it had no truffle taste, just tasted like cheese with mushrooms. The penne had a weird texture to it. The raviolis were terrible, one order came with 3 really big pieces of ravioli and they tasted terrible. The cheese inside the ravioli tasted like nothing and the pasta on the outside was hard. Had a great early dinner here after trip to zoo. I had chicken francese, a lemony butter sautéed dish that just melts in your mouth. Wife had linguine and daughter, 10, had pizza margherita. She ate almost all the pie. She rarely eats her whole meal which tells you how good their pizza is. We had calamari as an appetizer. Also delicious. I liked that portions weren't too big and prices were very reasonable. Service was excellent. Place is clean, well lit and has good background music to boot. Hard to wrong on Arthur Ave. but definitely recommend Enzo's. read more

Fabulous lunch here today with friends! The service was impeccable and the food out of this world! It's a beautiful classy restaurant and much brighter than most of the photos on here make it look. I even tried a few things I've never had before. I'm sad that I forgot to take pictures of the appetizers as they were amazing! We shared a bunch for the table; the polenta appetizer, arancini, calamari - not my thing but the calamari fans amongst us loved them, lightly battered crispy and flavorful, octopus salad (one of the new things I tried and liked - surprised myself but it was really tender and melted in the mouth), stuffed clams too ... the olive bread is to die for! Everyone rated their entree a 9 or 10/10; Raviolis were delicious and sauce perfect, Penne a la vodka, gnocchi light and fluffy, my husband and I had specials - mine was the Lobster Ravioli with shrimp and asparagus - the sauce was perfectly seasoned and not too thick and the asparagus just al dente! My husbands dish was a pork rollatini with pork, prosciutto, and mozzarella and was delicious with a little caramelization; his side of cavatelli was the best he's had, locally freshly made and not thick and stodgy like most. Despite the generous portions we found room for dessert!! Coffees and cappuccinos, tartufo, cannoli, chocolate mousse cake (omgosh - so light and fluffy - the cake was as light as the mousse!), and the kids had the Nutella pizza - warm crisp pizza crust with Nutella and strawberries - easily enough for three! A rainy Saturday afternoon at 4:30pm there's already a wait. The hostess was very attentive and did their best to accommodate everyone that walked in (and a lot of people walked in). The fried calamari Enzo's way is amazing. Bolognese with fusilli was my choice and it was so filling but I definitely managed to finish it with determination. I do not remember the name of the person who assisted our group but he was slightly older and gave absolute great recommendations. Finally made the trip to Arthur Ave in The Bronx... after reading many reviews here on Yelp and Facebook, we decided to go to Enzo's of Arthur Ave. Worst part... waiting for spots to clear in the parking lot in back. That was a good 30 min wait. (Worth it in the end) Thinking we would have to put our name on a waiting list and then kill more time walking around the neighborhood, seeing as the place was packed.... we approached the hostess stand and expected at least another 30-plus minute wait... however, we were immediately escorted in and seated in the back patio area which was very cozy. We started with cocktails (generously poured bourbon, I might say) then moved onto some apps. The fried calamari was tender and delicious... a nice sized portion too. The Fried Meatballs (beef & veal) with the sautéed onions and hot peppers were good... meatballs were a bit dry, but had great flavor. Maybe a tiny bit too much garlic... but who am I to complain about too much garlic? The arugula salad was great... house dressing was light and provided just enough zing to offset the meatballs and calamari. For our main courses we ordered the Chicken Rustico and the special that night, which was the Braciole. Both were cooked nicely. The Chicken had a very nice Balsamic sauce which didn't smother the dish. The Braciole came with a small side of pasta, and the Meat was tender and not overdone... huge portion too ! We would definitely go back to try a few other dishes... the place was hoping and it seemed as if there were many large groups there, enjoying their dinners as well. It's ok... I expected better food. I would give it 3.5 stars, yet 4 feels a bit too much, so I will give it 3 stars that is more than average. The appetizers were yummy: fried calamari, arancini and meatballs. The meatballs were a bit greasy and the calamari not crispy nor mind blowing but good nontheless. The arancinis were really good though! These appetizer plates I think are harder to get wrong. All good so far but then the entrees came. I ordered the Veal a La Enzo (I believe that was the name). It was ok. Not much flavor. If it was tastier in any way I would feel as though eating that fatty plate of veal and sausage was totally worth it. But I'm honestly not even thinking: "when I'm hungover I'll definitely go have that delicious Veal a La Enzo". The entree brought my conception of the restaurant down. The plate of clam pasta my friend ordered was good, but not worth $20 in my opinion (I know it is NYC - outside Manhattan though - but I have tried better pasta here for $20 or a little over $20). So I don't know. I would perhaps return and have some other food there sometime, cause the area is nice and there were plenty of other things on the menu. But to highly recommend it to anyone? We were hungry, ordered the ANTIPASTO, I have never had such fresh & delicious cheeses, & meats. We should have stopped there but we also got a TRUFFLE PIZZA, when I say the best I ever had. I decided to head out to Arthur Avenue on a sunny day to celebrate being free for an entire summer. At some point as I was writing in my journal it dawned on me that I was waiting for more than ten minutes for a menu. Others who sat after me were served. I wanted to see how long this would last, so I finished writing in my journal and called a water server over to catch the manager's attention. This was after an hour wait. I asked the manager why I had gone an hour without so much as a menu, he responded that it must have been a "misunderstanding". Other than that he was quite stoic on the subject. I really wanted to give this guy, a chance to explain himself. He mentioned that the table was "his", which makes me doubt whether he was the manager or not. I had watched others sit down, be served, and tried my hardest to remember that this is not "my" experience. This is what millions go through. Not millions of English teachers like myself, or godfathers like myself, but people with my skin color. This was the first time something like this has happened in a year. And I had been coming here a lot. But I don't know if I can support this place in good conscience. Post-Covid, we return to the "norms" of Pre-Covid. read more

However, it was $42 and did not come with pasta, vegetable, rice... nothing. Very strange. Small. Not very satisfying to have a piece of fish with no accompaniments. One of our Staff from Siena House Shelter, along with Dominican Sisters ordered the Salmon Dinner. After dinner, only having eating two bites described "that Fish" had soapy taste" Our waiter, was notified, left and never responded ! He seemed then to ignore us . My friend and I were visiting and we all stopped by for lunch. Food was really below standard and the service was borderline rude. Bland sauce and over cooked food really isn't something I'd expect from an establishment on Arthur Ave. And rude servers is never acceptable. I've visited Arthur Ave several times over the years and never had a disappointing experience until now. The food here is not on par with what I've had elsewhere. We won't be visiting again and my friend was quite disappointed. The neighborhood is still a great little stop but I would recommend somewhere else. read more

First visit and I will try it again despite disappointing dinner mainly because the staff is welcoming (but everyone is on Arthur Ave) and also the nice decor and setting. We ordered a special hot antipasto for two - which the server advised had "lots of seafood - many things". This was as opposed to the standard one on the menu. It arrived and had 2 stuffed clams and unless you consider eggplant, zucchini and pepper and olives seafood that's it. And the items were lousy / soggy and ordinary. At $24 unforgivable too. The salad of arugula was excellent. But stingy. I've seen bigger salads on United Airlines - but not as fresh. We didn't order a seafood pasta because we thought we were getting "lots of seafood / many items" so we ordered a pasta with meat sauce and fresh ricotta. It was exceptionally heavy, and leaden with a ton of undistinguished mutz, but the ricotta was nice. The meat - again - undistinguished. Like my Irish sister in law would make on a holiday - very disappointing. Nice wine by glass selection. Didn't check out the bottles tho. The back room which appears new was very nicely done with bare brick walls and white wooden trim. The front room and bar typical of Arthur Ave places - comfortable and welcoming. We'll try again. It's just doesn't get any more Italian authentic then this place. The delicious menu choices will make hard to decide. But you can go wrong. All fresh ingredients. Perfectly seasoned and all dishes taste, smell and look scrumptious. You can even try the pizza - because that's Italian pizza. Crust perfect, high quality melting mozzarella. Fantastic meal with friends after visiting the train show at the botanical garden. Lively spot where you feel right at home. We were a group of 7 and never felt rushed even though they were very busy all night. We shared the octopus appetizer special, the antipasto and the rice balls to start. Most of us had a pasta, 2 had veal and one had the eggplant parm. Only complaint was that the eggplant parm had too much sauce and cheese so it got very mushy. Every year since about 2006 I have gone to Enzo's with a friend after the Orchid Show at the Botanical Gardens. As we are both Italian and grew up on our Grandmothers cooking we always looked forward to our meal at Enzo's. Sorry to say that this year's meal was so disappointing that we will not be back next year. The appetizer of grilled shrimp with some sort of almost Spanish tasting sauce was exceptional as was the bread and tricolor salad, but that was it. My pasta with clam sauce was filled with tiny clams but had absolutely no taste of clams and even with a mountain of parmesan cheese just tasted like garlic and oil. My friend's rigatoni was actually ziti with a tasteless sauce. The service is excellent and the waiter was lovely but since Enzo's passing the food has gone down hill. The pizza looked good however but we wanted a meal. read more
