This place has become our favorite dinner spot every time we go to the NYBG. I would recommend making reservations because it gets crowded and I have seen them turn away walk-ins. Overall thoughts, the specials menu is usually pretty great. The main menu can be a little more hit or miss. They also play a song really loud every time it's someone's birthday which can be a little jarring, don't love that since it's an adult classy restaurant except for that. For appetizers we always get the Burrata con Mais e Gamberi because it's always so fresh, creamy and tangy. Then we usually order off the specials menu. I typically get whatever the artichoke appetizer is, it's consistently delicious. Last time I had pan seared artichokes hearts with fava bean and sausage, amazing! The two times we ordered a fresh tomato starter the tomatoes were a big let down, for example the Caprese salad was just ok, I wouldn't get it again. For entrees I also like to order off the specials menu. The ravioli with figs, prosciutto, ricotta with sage butter sauce and the time before was a mortadella stuffed ravioli were both delicious. We read somewhere to get anything cooked "al cartoccio" style. Sure enough we ordered the Mafalde al cartoccio with veal ragu and melted burrata cheese off the specials menu and it might have been one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had. We've also tried several desserts, such as the cannoli, lava cake and profiteroles. While nothing was innovative they were all delicious and will satisfy your sweet tooth. Did not care for the Neapolitan cheesecake, it was dry and could have used at least some whipped cream on top. read more

went there for lunch today and ordered the appetizer of short ribs for $26. When it came the portion was very small and there was no meat in it! there were two slices of bread, mushrooms and gravy but NO MEAT. Spoke to the waiter who said he would speak to the manager but when the bill came they refused to take it off. So this is what they got for it---no tip and a one star review. Maybe they should have just taken it off the bill because all it was was gravy with mushrooms. No common sense, no business sense and no sense of customer service. I will NEVER go back there again. I will stick with Enzo's! read more

Dining as good as it gets, right behind the market. Apps and pastas and mains are all really good. Go for the in-house dried steak if that's what you're in the mood for. Comes with charred, chopped shoshito peppers. Nice sear on the steak and topped with some finishing salt and aromatic rosemary. The sauce is also heavenly, worth a dab on your steak. Delicious, upscale Italian cuisine. Friendly service from waiters that have been there for a long time and how's knowledgeable about the menu. Lovely table set ups and good ambiance. We had the specials- shrimps, scallops, and eggplant appetizers, a few pasta dishes, special fish w/baby clams, grilled rabbit, and a wonderful selection of wines. Outstanding restaurant experience! Definitely need to book ahead to get a table in this authentic Italian gem of a restaurant. Romantic, authentic, and innovative. Roberto is a genius at creating mouthwatering dishes that leave you wanting more. This is not your typical Italian restaurant, this is an experience. Table side service and a wine cellar that won't disappoint. We enjoyed a tasting menu of a lovely appetizer of smoked mozzarella, homemade prosciutto fig ravioli in a white wine butter, sage sauce, truffle fettuccine, wild boar Ragu with slivered almonds with rigatoni, aged shell, steak, and a beautiful light marinated strawberry cake with cream. I seldom write a review and like to focus on the positive, but Roberto's was such a disappointment I had to warn other potential victims, I mean diners. My husband and I went to Roberto's to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We were anticipating a special night but instead the evening started with bad cocktails--my mule was diluted and my husband's Manhattan was unbalanced and unpleasant. On the server's recommendation, I ordered the special only to be served a heap of salty chicken without a carbohydrate or vegetable. My husband's lamb was slightly better but the risotto was overcooked and mushy. The staff didn't do anything to acknowledge our anniversary even after we mentioned it several times. We are consoled by knowing we have made reservations at another restaurant so we can have an enjoyable anniversary celebration. read more

Unlike other visits, the service this evening was subpar. Although we ordered an appetizer for the table our main courses came first. Taken away when they came back two out of the six were incorrect. Oh BTW, our original waiter was missing in action to our table although in the dining room. There is something really fun about this place. You don't feel like you're in New York City, more like Europe. Everyone is enjoying the food and noise level high. Lots of big tables wand also couples. Service is super friendly. Fish and specials were great. Wine by the glass was good if not great. My husband didn't love his pasta on our most recent visit but he may have just strayed too far from the ragus he favors. And area is hopping into late hours- especially nearby bakery. read more

So I have been eating on Arthur Ave my whole line, and never got to Roberto's. I think because I would normally go on a Friday or Saturday. Tonight I said let's try it. So glad we did! The service was excellent ! 1 server and two Bus Boys. They were all nice, and attentive to us. We started with a drink each. They gave us some bread, olive oil. In the bread basket was delicious focaccia! Then we had the fennel salad (only salad on the menu) which was very good. Not over powering with dressing They split it up for Us. Then my husband ordered the special of the fettuccine with black truffles, and I had the special of the Veal osso bucca with risotto ! Delicious!! Such great choices we made! I must say this was really probably the BEST restaurant in the neighborhood. The other "Italian" restaurants in Little Italy, are just the run of the Mill. Roberto's is old world classy and elegant. Think dark furniture, dark brown wainscoting, big elaborate chandeliers, dramatic arched upper walls, and a waitstaff decked out in long sleeve white shirts and black ties. Roberto's opens at noon, and when we walked in at 2 minutes to twelve we were asked to wait at the bar until noon. Two guys walked in as we were sitting down and they were warmly greeted like long lost family, and whisked to a table as we sat and watched dumbfounded. I guess the regulars are treated different than the tourists. Anyway, that was the one and only time we were disappointed by Roberto's. Once we sat down, the experience was pretty amazing. The complimentary breadbasket included focaccia and Italian bread slices served with olive oil. A very nice starter indeed. I ordered Tubettini con Polipo e Fave ($26) described as "Tiny pasta tubes sauteed with grilled octopus, fava beans, and baby clams". It was freeing fantastic in so many ways!! First of all, 1) there was a lot of octopus in there, really quite a bit. The tentacle segments were perfectly grilled and were soft and tender which is always a relief because sometimes they come out of various kitchens as tough and chewy, 2) the pasta was PERFECT -just a teense al dente, it was such a great component of the dish, 4) the clams were a great addition, super tender and full of flavor, and finally 5) the sauce was delicious- a garlicky herb and tomato coating that was awesome. My wife ordered the Cotoletta di Vitello alla Caprese "Breaded veal cutlet topped with chopped fresh tomato and melted bocconcini, served over mesclun salad". I sampled some of it and it was also amazing. So there you have it - the food is wonderful, but not inexpensive, the portions are petty generous, the service was professional, and the décor is old school elegant. Arthur Ave has been on my 'to do' list for many years. My boyfriend and I finally went and had dinner with his coworker and girlfriend who live nearby for a 5p dinner. The restaurant is beautiful and has the ambiance of what you would expect for an authentic Italian restaurant. The service here was amazing. Very knowledgeable servers and it seemed like there were always 4 people putting stuff down at once. We started with the Scamorza, Polipo alla Griglia, antipasto alla pescatore. Everything was very good, I think the Poplio alla Griglia was my favorite and it was really cooked perfectly. I ordered the Radiatori in Cartoccio for my entree. This pasta was incredible. I've never had Radiatori before and it's definitely something that isn't widely available. I'm guessing their pastas are made in house, or at least at a local business. The sauce was extremely rich, fresh and flavorful. I did feel like there was something off from the balance of the dish as a whole. It said it came with tomatoes and mushrooms and I think I saw 2 mushroom slices. I wish there would have been tomatoes and mushrooms as I was expecting to balance it out. I could only eat a few bites before having to wrap it. I think the prices are extremely reasonable for the quality here. I definitely enjoyed the experience...I just think we have so many high quality restaurants in the NY metro area that it doesn't stand out to me as the best Italian food ever like many other reviewers have mentioned. There are a couple of other places on Arthur Ave that I'd like to try, but I would come back here and recommend it. read more

Came here last week for lunch w my sister. Miguel was our waiter and he was lovely and knowledgeable of the menu. We tried just about everything! We had the barbaietole e burrata, fusilli in cartoccio, and the fish of the day which was a grilled branzino. Everything was delicious, fresh and perfectly cooked. This is definitely a more nuanced take on Salerno specialties. Simple and beautiful cocktails, but the dishes are beyond impressive. It'd been a while since I came to Roberto's and on my last visit I was sorely disappointed. The quality of the food has dropped markedly. It used to be very expensive (for Belmont) but very good. Now I found it "meh" and not all that expensive. But still too expensive for the quality of the food. I can do much better cooking myself. And I'm not from Italy, or even the Balkans! read more

The food was good, as was the service, but I didn't find anything innovative or noteworthy on the menu. This is the fourth Zero Otto Nove restaurant that I have dined in, as well as the original "Roberto's" in little Italy of the Bronx. The meals, while tasty, are the same overcooked (stuck together) pasta in foil, along with a slightly upscale version of "red slop" that you can find in any Italian restaurant. The Osso buco was meh, and the fried calamari was mediocre. Their pizza's are generally good, but they don't serve pizza here in the Tuckahoe restaurant. The impressive wine list and patient wait staff will most likely bring me back here again as it's close to home, but not anytime soon. read more
