On Wednesday evening, prior to an early Sunday departure for a vacation, I visited Natural Nails in Andover seeking a manicure and pedicure. Initially, I encountered an inconvenience when the online reservation system assigned me to an employee who was either on vacation or unavailable upon my arrival. I chose to overlook this. As I settled into my chair for the pedicure, I decided to indulge in a more luxurious treatment--something I rarely do. Just as I was becoming comfortable, another technician approached to commence my manicure simultaneously. This caused a disruption, as I was unable to utilize the chair's features and had to awkwardly hold both arms to the left to accommodate her work. The experience was chaotic and distressing. The use of the dremel tool was particularly painful while grinding the cuticles, rendering the session quite miserable. Later that evening, I completed a survey provided by the owner, Nini, who apologized and offered a discount for a future appointment. By Saturday evening, one of the builder gel nails had already detached, despite being told they would last three to four weeks. I sent a photograph to Nini, who again merely apologized and extended a discount on my next service. Due to time constraints with my flight, I was unable to return for a repair and resorted to painting over that nail myself. By Sunday, another nail had fallen off, and I inquired about a refund. The response was, "No refund, it's the policy." On Tuesday, a third nail detached, clearly indicating that something was amiss in the application process. Nini's policy states that they will only repair issues within five days, with no refunds offered. I can confidently say I will never again patronize this establishment. I know of another individual who visited Natural Nails and was charged $90 for a builder gel set, with prices varying each visit--sometimes increasing with discounts. My initial set cost $65. She, too, has ceased visiting this salon. Having worked diligently for my earnings, I refuse to support businesses that do not operate with honesty and integrity.

The price for a full set and polish is $55 or $65. How has it doubled in price? Another thing, she did French tips but had one nail on each hand a solid color. The tech said she didn't want to polish that one nail on each hand, really?!? So they put a white color acrylic nail on. I'm planning on going in there and talk to Them face to face with receipt of our past visits and pics of the nails and ask them to explain. Ugh

I was referred to the place by a friend of mine who likes the services provided. First, the…read morefriend's had a manicure two days before and the polish became all scratched, she went in for a "fix" and I went along for a gel manicure-pedicure. They did "K" first, but charged her for a full "new manicure" rather than give her any form of compensation for the flawing. Then, on my Gel Mani-Pedi, I paid $72 plus tip. The next day the gel polish starting "lifting off" the ends of my nails halfway down the entire nail. I have NEVER had this happen in over two years of "gel" polish from any other salon. My friend who referred me called them and they told her I should call and they would make an apt for fix. Then opened today at 10 am and I called and called up until 10:45 with no one answering the phone, I left three messages to call me back. Now getting close to 11 AM I decided to go to the salon to see if they would either help me or make an apt. I stood at their door, I could see people in the salon and NOT ONE PERSON MADE ANY ATTEMPT TO ANSWER THE DOOR WHICH I WAS NOW KNOCKING ON. Again, no one answered so I moved over to the large window which looks into the salon and I knew that everyone in there could see me. I made gestures pointing for someone to come to the door, then when no one came I made gestures like "go to the phone"! Again no response, I went back to the locked door and began knocking. Finally, a brunette with a Page Boy haircut came to the door and started yelling at me that I needed to call and make an appointment. I told her, "How can I make an appointment when you don't answer the phone?" Again she was yelling at me to make an appointment. I said, "I will never do business with your shop again" and then I left. I found another salon on my phone in the car, made an appointment, and went there for another manicure to fix all the "Gel polish" which had peeled off. I also called my Bank and will dispute $47 of the $72 charge plus time as I had to pay $47 for the manicure I just received to fix this. VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE WAY THIS PLACE OPERATES AND THE WAY IT DOES NOT WORK OUT "ISSUES."

Prose Nails - Did someone say CHROME? Chrome can honestly be such a tricky technique, it's a challenge to create a smooth look, but Prose NAILED IT!

tl;dr: *Significant* lack of quality control, did not read or take time to accommodate my requests…read moreor have a conversation about what was reasonable vs. I wanted to help decide what would be best. Full review: A friend recommended this nail salon--their Instagram and website looked great; I was excited to try them out. Called and made (2) back-to-back appointments--pedicure and manicure, said I was open to either regular nail polish or gel, but I wanted to talk to the tech to decide about a broken (natural) nail and what we could do about it. I also mentioned I had my own bottle of polish that I was hoping, but again, not insistent we use (regular, not gel). I asked for art on the manicure, and asked for no leg massage on the pedicure. I'd seen Prose has a membership program and I was interested since wedding season is coming up. Once I arrived it was a little awkward since my tech wasn't ready/available yet, but I figured that's normal and shrugged it off. The person who greeted me immediately handed me their gel options and when my tech (Bill) came out later and saw my regular polish bottle, told me we couldn't use it (it was glitter--I applied it over the gel after the appt). I wasn't surprised they pushed gel--nearly every salon I've been to does. The tech gave me a leg massage during the pedicure--so obviously either no note was made or it wasn't read prior to my service beginning. I could've said something and didn't, so I'll own that. The UV light kept turning off before the polish could cure, so I had to keep holding my foot up higher to try to set off the motion/proximity sensor or whatever was keeping it on. I noticed after the appointment the tech cut my two big toes at different lengths so more below-nail skin shows on my left toe than my right. I always leave my big toenails a little long before a pedicure so I don't make this exact mistake, and allow a professional to do it right--that didn't help me this time. For my manicure, the tech did fix my broken nail with a nail extension, but cut and shaped my middle finger nails into different shapes--the one with the extension is visually much pointer than my other natural shape. If he hadn't cut all but 1 of my finger nails down to match them, I would assume this couldn't be avoided but obviously it was just a lack of quality control/care. I could tell by this point that he was not going to be very good at the nail art and I'd wanted to ask to remove that add-on entirely so I could do it myself later or go someplace else for better service, but didn't. I told him I just wanted my thumbs done w/ art. We couldn't fit both of the nail stickers I'd brought and wanted, so we just did one on each thumb. Obviously w/ nail stickers, more topcoat has to be applied to cover and there are bubbles in my left thumb nail--fine--I've had that happen before. He applied too much oil all over my cuticles, told me to rub it in and then rushed over to tell the receptionist what services were done. The oil smelled good, but I hate the feeling of oil on my hands--to be fair I didn't tell them this, but he also didn't need to put SO much on that I could feel myself unintentionally rubbing it into my steering wheel on the drive home. Paying took a while since the receptionist had just arrived and seemed to be a little new to her role, but I'll admit that really isn't much of a irritation--I care more about the lack of quality of the mani/pedi. I will note that there was no tip option--if I missed it that's genuinely my mistake because I still would've tipped 10% or so--I don't believe in not paying gratuity. I accidentally provided a 5-star review when I was trying to get through the iPad process to pay (the iPad and the receptionist were not moving very quickly), so that was my mistake. I asked for a printed receipt but was told they'd email it to me (they did). I noticed once I got home that he didn't push the cuticles on my fingers back, so now I'm trying to decide if I should leave them (they look stupid), or push the cuticles up and then try to overlay my glitter polish to try to smooth over the look. I also have nail stickers that might cover this issue, but that wasn't the design I had in mind. My expectations were high, but I could've settled for good/average. I have all the tools at home to do nail art stickers, I just hate trying to get a good base down on my non-dominant hand, and a professional pedicure is always better than what I can manage at home. I fully regret calling and scheduling this appointment at Prose, but I am glad I know they aren't the right salon for me *now* instead of later this year when I need service done before wedding season.

I'm there 1-2 times a month, and each time I leave, my nails feel like they got the absolute SPA TREATMENT. Prose Nails is slightly pricier than your average nail shop, but SUCH a value, and their membership option makes it so convenient and fun!
