I had 3 excellent Energy Saving Pros experiences in 2017. I purchased a 27 year old 2 story tile roof home in Loomis in the summer of 2016. Last winter I noticed water was pouring down along the side of an eve completely missing the gutter. UGH! Who to call? Well, I drive by Energy Saving Pros on my way home everyday and had seen their trucks at Del Oro HS installing their solar. So I stopped in and it turn out they fix roofs. The next morning Isreal, their roof foreman and his wingman, were in my driveway 8 am sharp. It appears the prior owners of my home had some roof "fixits" pre sale and the valley flashing wasn't done correctly (few inches too short). Isreal - fixed it on the spot (15-20 min maybe) and ESP didn't even charge me. While he was up on my roof I asked him to take a look around. He took pictures of cracked tiles that would need replacing and showed me how my valleys were starting to fail - paper underneath showing signs of prior moisture. After reading ESP's positive reviews, I decided to have Isreal come back and do the needed repairs-maintenance. Photo's of the before and after made me see I made the right choice. His customer service was just as impressive as his handy work. Two Thumbs up. After a full summer in Loomis AND my first experience with PG&E (ouch$$$)...it was time to look into solar/insulation/roof vent I started interviewing some of the better rated solar companies around (yelp / word of mouth). I had a few reasonable estimates... but after meeting Rachel Trousdale with Energy Saving Pros I knew I was dialed in - She didn't try to oversell me and she really took her time explaining the whole process. NO pressure. A big plus was knowing an experienced roofer like Isreal would inspect the roof post installation which he did. Solar installation started right on time a month later. Ray was my install lead and it took his crew maybe 8 hours to install my 18 solar panels and a roof vent. I was up an running that afternoon. The electrical conduit was even painted to match the house perfectly- nice touch (might be standard with all solar companies but that attention to detail impressed me) . Once they left - you wouldn't even know they were there. Again another two thumbs up. Finally I had ESP come back once more - this time to upgrade my sorry looking ceiling insulation. The job was clean -- absolutely NO mess - they got into all the hard areas and delivered on the quality and quantity of product. Again... another Two Thumbs up. I have produced 1.05Mwh in past 68 days (February was a very solar friendly month). Not too shabby. Finally Last October I had a coworker, who lives in Rocklin, interviewing local solar companies at the same time I was. Like me he wanted an install before the end of 2017 to get in on the tax credit. He has a much bigger house and energy needs than I (28 panel system) so... a much bigger investment. I told him to add Rachael at Energy Saving Pros to his call list. I really didn't want to bias him either way in case they didn't live up to his or my expectations. After she ran the numbers he too decided to go with their product. He has been just as impressed. We compare our energy production almost daily on our phone apps. What can I say? These guys are PROS! I did not know much about solar until I started interviewing different companies back in July of 2014. Each company was a little different. I should lease, buy, high priced, low priced, U.S.A. made, foreign made, this warranty, these watts, those watts, on and on. It all seemed to be a foreign language to me. One thing was for sure, like many of the reviews I have seen, they all seemed to be like "used car salesmen". Then, in early August I called Energy Saving Pro's and made an appointment with Greg Hovde. When Greg showed up at our home, after the initial pleasantries, he went right to work. I was used to the hard sales approach, but not to the in-depth knowledge Greg shared with us. Nobody could give me a clear understanding of how the solar process works. How much solar I really needed and what I should expect on a seasonal basis. What to look for on my PG&E bills (NEMS), how to read them. The different panels and inverters there are to choose from. So on and so on. Basically, he took our hands and walked us through the process better than anyone we had talked to. What we really appreciated also was his knowledge regarding our HOA requirements. We were sold! Our decision was not based on price alone. There were several others with larger price tags. We were confident that we had made an intelligent decision based on references, 'gut feelings' and information from the 7 other proposals we had received prior. Greg pretty much took control of the HOA review of my solar proposal. (We have a tough review board.) Within the 2 week review time, we passed and were approved to schedule installation. That never happens with our HOA! I have a very difficult home, with many different roofing planes. I was amazed at the skill and knowledge of the installers who had to figure out how to put this all together. (I was watching every step of the process!) I don't know how they did such a clean job of wiring given the lack of attic space they had to work with!! In 1 day, I was up and running! Last week, I was reviewing my solar performance (love it and I am addicted to watching !) My software allows me to see each panel and I noticed one panel was not producing. That was 4:00pm on a Wednesday. The next morning at 9:00am one of their installers was on my roof trying to determine the cause! Wow! I really thought that it would take several days to get this resolved. Happy to report it was only a software glitch, and I never lost production from the panel. I was impressed how seriously they took my call and how quickly they responded. I can call these guys with questions and they always help! They don't forget you when they have completed the job. We wanted to install solar on our home to reduce the incredibly high PG&E bills we had been getting,before the summer started. I did my research on the internet and decided that I wanted to go the ownership route, rather than the leasing route. Next I called seven different companies for estimates. The Energy Saving Pros didn't do the hard-sell, were highly recommended on Yelp, and were able to explain all aspects of the installation.They also had the best salesman, Barry, who was very price competitive and could explain why the recommended system was recommended.. When we decided to move forward with the install, Energy Saving Pros handled all the planning and permits, and ordered all the supplies. The installation was delayed a bit due to weather (winter rain), but it otherwise went very smoothly. Though the whole process the communication with the sales rep, Barry, was excellent and I felt completely in the know. One thing different about my system and others around my neighborhood is that the installers painted the conduit to match perfectly to my house. Other companies are just leaving the metal color unpainted, which shows the level of detail this company has concerning its product. I guess the city of Rocklin must like solar, because the inspection process took much shorter than we expected. From the start of the project to finish, it took about three weeks to turn my system on, with just one day for the inspection . After the installation, we discovered a roof tile of a different color next to our solar panels. I reported this to our sales rep, Barry, and he sent a repair guy the next day that moved the roof tile out of sight under the solar panels. The other problem was the communication between the panels and the internet was lost. Barry again helped with advice and the problem was solved over the phone. I wanted to wait about a month before I left a review so I could give my honest feedback about my experience and their systems. I can honestly say, aside from the issues I had, I am glad I went with Energy Saving Pros. Installing solar power truly has been one of the best investments we have made with our home. While I was running my AC for 4 months last year, we were getting PG&E bills between $400-$600. We contacted Energy Saving Pros for a quote. Barry was here on July 17th at the appointed time. After reviewing various other companies, we decided on Energy Saving Pros because they had planned more panels than anyone else and their Best of the Best ratings in addition to the ratings on Yelp. We signed the contract on July 31 with a projected installation date of around September 1 We were going to be gone on a cruise from August 15 to August 29 returning home on August 30. While we were gone, they acquired the clearance from our HOA and the necessary permits from the City of Lincoln. They informed us they were ready to install the solar system on August 31. Since we had just arrived home from an overseas trip, we asked if they could do the install on September 1st. Six workers showed up at 7:00 a.m. on Sept. 1 and the installation was completed in one day with us getting power from the system by the end of the day. The next morning a man form Solar Pros was here to wait around for the inspector from the city to approve the installation. The inspector showed up shortly and the system was then bought off by the inspector. The only issue that we had was that there was a newly installed circuit breaker by Energy System Pros that kept tripping and it kept our heating and air conditioning system from working properly. It took me about 4 different telephone calls to finally get someone out here to fix the problem. They kept telling me it was fixed but the breaker kept tripping and no one came out to investigate the problem. At this point the only hurdle left was to get P.G. &E. to connect us to the grid, which Energy Saving Pros facilitated. This was completed on September 16th. It only took 2 weeks to get the approval from P.G. &E. Barry was terrific to work with, very available and responsive and on top of things. Now, one year after our solar install by Energy Saving Pros, I wrote the following letter to Barry McGinnis. Barry is/was our go-to-guy at ESP. Here's the letter I wrote: Hi, Barry. Debbie posted this info on Face Book. But I wanted to let you know in an email. Our install finished mid-June one year ago. Our PG&E bill for the 12th month, May 2016, was an astronomical, .... Wait, first let me tell you, we use our TV and computers freely. We also run our A/C as much as we want to - to keep our home comfortable. We don't hold back. We were dreading the 'true-up' bill from PG&E. We had heard from people who leased that it could be in the hundreds of dollars. Nearing a thousand dollars. We were frightened. (Not really :) ) Anyway, we got our whole, entire PG&E bill the other day. The astronomical amount for the month of May was.... wait for it.... ... $3.19 That's three dollars and nineteen cents. But what about the 'true-up' bill? When would we get that? How much would that be? We waited in fear for the 'true-up' bill. It came a couple days later. As it turned out, PG&E included the 'true-up' bill in the monthly PG&E bill. The 'true-up' bill was part of the $3.19. The 'true-up' bill for one year was: ... 20 cents. TWENTY CENTS !!!!!!!!! Our PG&E bill for May 2016 was $2.99. I'm trying to think of ways to say, "Thank You, Barry." But that's all I can come up with. "Thank You, Barry." You are the best. Barry has been nothing but professional during our meetings. He was always willing to explain and answer any questions I had with the purchase and install of the solar system. Joseph and Scott (electricians) were great. Both were very courteous and their customer service was top notch. Scott was the first to arrive during the install. He made sure I was aware of what was going on with regard to the inverter install. His work was excellent. He made sure the inverter and wiring was not a visual nuisance in our garage. Joseph took the time to explain how the inverter and solar system worked. He went above and beyond. He provided me with his cell phone number and asked that I text him when our system went live and if there was an issue he was willing to come back to the house and ensure the system was functioning correctly. After thoroughly interviewing 4 different companies and many options for the type of solar for my home, I can say that I am absolutely thrilled with my final decision to go with Energy Savings Pros (ESP). I highly recommend ESP!!! First, the "analysis" stage of the process: The professionalism of Greg H, my consultant, as well as the financial analysis (graphs and charts) were the best. Even the pamphlet came in a nice folder that I was eventually able to use for all of my ESP paperwork. I was also swayed by Kelly Brother's endorsement - if the financial adviser for KFBK thought this was a good idea, that's saying something! Second, they gave me options to make my house even more energy efficient (without over-doing the sales job). They assessed my older A/C and gave me an honest opinion (even if it didn't make the company more $), and were able to include my Attic Insulation and a very reasonably priced Attic Fan on my whole deal so I could get the tax credit on that, too. Third, the installation was smooth and they were flexible to work around my schedule. They also went to the trouble of painting the piping so it matched my house - who does that? Thanks, ESP! Fourth, the follow-up was thorough (made sure i was comfortable with the app that I used to check my grid status, as well as setup notifications so I wouldn't have to look at it all the time (at the beginning, it was fun to look all the time, but eventually the novelty wore off). And finally, since I compared so many companies, I can say I know I got a GREAT deal. I have had solar installed on my last two houses so I understood most of the issues I would face with my new home purchase. I was concerned because the roof was challenging for solar installation--steep and convoluted. SolarCity said "no way". They were persistent, guys at home depot sent 3 salespeople out. Two said "no way" and one said maybe 5K. (I used them about seven years ago in the Bay Area and know they were picky). Energy Saving Pros got 11K up there. SunRun said "no problem " but you must sign a contract BEFORE WE SEND ANYONE OUT TO LOOK AT THE HOUSE. Sungevity said my HOA was too difficult to deal with. Then an acquaintance mentioned Energy Saving Pros. I called and Kelly Roberts promptly came out. She also noted that the roof was challenging but that they were up to the task. I did a little more shopping and decided to go with Energy Saving Pros. We negotiated a competitive price and I signed a contract. In a week or so the HOA was cleared and the permit was obtained. Kelly was in constant contact with us as to the progress. About a week later the crew arrived and began the installation. Ray (the crew chief) keep me up to date of all of the issues they, and I had during the installation. They were all courteous and professional. It was clear that they knew their business. We decided we wanted solar 4 years ago but while going through a complete remodel it was not the very first priority on our list so we pushed it out until everything else was done first. The time had finally come and based on how long and tedious many of the other projects had taken I was dreading ANOTHER house project! I started the process with Jack and new from how quickly and organized he had our plan and quote ready that I had no need to shop around. He was so nice and very on top of things! Next we worked with Tracy who gave us all the details we needed and options that were best for us for the financial side of the project! We took much longer than we probably should have to decide and I never once felt pressured or in a rush. I expected the paperwork process to be equivalent to buying a house but it was literally all digital which is music to a busy, working moms ears who's husband travels! So easy! Next was Install day which came literally within a week! To top that off the install took less than a day! The crew we worked with for the install showed up right on time! I was on a time crunch that day and he made sure to have everything done that he needed my signature for well before I needed to leave! The crew was so nice and polite and were working non-stop in 96 degree weather...on a roof all day!!! They didnt leave one thing behind and painted everything they put up to match my newly painted house! I couldn't believe it when he asked for paint! 5 stars would be an understatement! This was by far one of the easiest most enjoyable projects I've experienced yet on this house and I'm so so happy I chose this company to work with!! read more

I normally don't take the time to write a review but this company was so impressive I felt the need to let everyone know. Like most people I started with a search on the internet, found numerous solar companies and then began getting bids. This is actually a great way to compare prices, quality, warranties, and companies. After getting 6 different bids and interviewing with 2 others I felt well equipped to make a decision on which company I wanted to work with. That's when I noticed the reviews on Energy Saving Pros and on their sales consultant Barry McGinnis. Decided to give them call. Why not, one more bid could not hurt. This guy was amazing. Called me the next day and was in my home the following day with all the history of my electrical usage and a complete professional cost estimate on the solar system. None of the other companies even came out to see my house and where the panels could be installed. His bid was reasonable, but after he looked at the other bids he made sure his bid was the best. He came back the next day with the contract and 14 days later I had a solar system installed and running. As a retired Real Estate Appraiser I understand value when I see it. Just call this company and ask for Barry. It's been 1 year and time for an update. Does solar really work? Is it worth the cost? My results after 12 months were better than I expected. We obtained quotes from other solar companies to see who would best meet our needs. The clear winner was Energy Saving Pros and they exceeded our expectations. I must say Aaron responded to the many questions we had and made a very professional and low pressure presentation. We provided Aaron with our energy usage data and Aaron provided us with data showing the energy output and cost effectiveness that we would benefit from. This supporting documentation was what we needed to make an informed decision. The panels ESP provides are the best quality and carry 25 year warranty which is standard with ESP. We also negotiated a very reasonable price with them. Awesome!! We just had our system installed in January by Cam's crew who were also very professional. No Jack of all Trade workers here. Each technician specialized in a necessary task. I asked if they could install an FM antenna on the roof for me and they gladly did it with a smile and no charge. It doesn't get any better than this. SMUD came out on Feb 13 and installed the new SMUD meter which was the last phase of the project. I called Aaron and told him SMUD had arrived and asked him about throwing the switch and starting the system. Aaron was at our house about 20 minutes later and started the system for us. It was a very cloudy and rainy day. I thought no way the panels would work with no Sun. Wrong. The panels put out 10% of capacity even in the rain. I was impressed and very happy. This is a long-overdue review, but there is a method to my madness. In May of 2018, I had a ductless mini-split system installed in my home that did not have any HVAC. I have to give a major kudo to Mike who, as the lead HVAC point of contact for the company, gave me a quote without the sales gimmick. Additionally, his quote took into consideration a concern I had: future, potential modifications to the exterior of my home. The team of Zack, Owens, and Jeremy performed the work professionally in the amount of time originally estimated. They also added a splash of kindness to their demeanor, which I appreciated, given that they were in my home. There have been a few instances when I had a follow-up question, to which Mike made himself available to answer. On a few occasions, Kevin came out, and I really appreciated his willingness to explain any observations he had. One last comment, which is probably more in regards to a ductless mini-split system. As mentioned earlier, my house did not have any HVAC. This installation was going to add a benefit to the home, and I expected my energy bills to increase. In tracking my expenses (I'm an analyst), I found my average monthly electric bill increase slightly while my average monthly gas bill decrease ~50%. The net result, surprisingly, is that my total gas and electric bills year-over-year are coming in lower than without the ductless mini-split system, yet this system makes the home more comfortable. Start to finish, the best experience for a home improvement project! I had wanted solar for years, but it was just too expensive for us. I recently discovered that the cost had stabilized, but utilities were skyrocketing. My neighbor went to an educational/informational class about solar, researched all the local companies, and narrowed his choices to three. This was the easiest experience EVER! First of all, we were paying $500 PG&E bills in the summer and our house was kept at 80 degrees. Our family was not only hot, but uncomfortable in our own home. We knew that something had to be done before next summer. We started to interview companies early November and no one was really looking at our house. Until we met Barry at Energy Saving Pros, he had a complete plan for our house. From our pool pump, adding an attic fan, adding attic insulation and of course getting rid of PG&E by going solar. And the amazing thing, he was cheaper than everyone else. Barry took his time with us making sure all of our questions were answered. My husband was very reluctant about going solar and Barry took his time to answer all questions. My husband did not want to pay anything to PG&E. Our particular roof required special brackets and handling. Barry knew exactly what we needed because their company had installed/worked with metal roofs many times. Deciding to get solar is the EASIEST part of the process. All other decisions after that is where your life gets very complicated, difficult, and confusing. I honestly don't remember where I heard about ESP originally, but once I heard that name, they kept coming up over and over again. I can't begin to tell you how incredibly happy we are with our decision to work with this company...and ESPECIALLY Barry! We have had our solar for about 2 1/2 years now, and there hasn't been one day that we've regretted the decision. Barry was professional from beginning to end, and I have NEVER had customer service like we had with him. In fact, I own my own business, and I try to model my customer service after the way Barry treated us. I remember we were having conflicts with the city coming for the inspections. They (the city) didn't show up once, and rescheduled one day at the last minute. When I told Barry that I had already rearranged my work schedule to accommodate the inspection, yet again, he said, "Don't worry about it, I'll make sure I come and wait for the inspector so you don't have to". Barry made a VERY daunting process much more pleasurable than I could have ever imagined, and the only thing he could have done to make it even better would be to have done it for free. HAHAHAHAHA.
