I hired them to perform a minor roof repair, but they didn't show up to do the work when scheduled. Brian came out and provided an estimate, I agreed, they promptly sent me a contract, I promptly signed it, and they gave me a date and time that the work would be done (the following week). Alas, on the scheduled day and time, nobody showed up, and nobody contacted me. I called the office, and Jada said my job was not on their calendar. After she gave me multiple excuses for why Brian failed to show up "for my estimate", it was clear that they had scheduled another estimate and not the actual repair work, and then they didn't even show up for that. I wish there was an excellent rating I could give this company! I had two holes in my roof from downed branches. I was panicking because of the unexpected rain anticipated in a few days. I called several roofing companies and most were too busy to come. When I called 5 Star, they said they would try to get to me that day. The owner Michael came out that very day and went up to inspect the roof. He showed me photos of the problems he could see on my roof. Some will be addressed later, but he replaced the broken tiles to ensure the approaching rain would not be an issue. He was personable and extremely reasonable. We discovered an active leak in our roof this year. After speaking to some neighbors, 5 Star Roofing was recommended. I telephoned them and they dispatched Brian right away. He thoroughly disassembled the suspected area, and after much detailed inspection, found the problem, and subsequent damage. He was able to make some temporary adjustments to block further damage from incoming rain. As soon as they were able, they came back and made all the necessary repairs. First time was better, however they lost the payment check ( so we had to go through that), had issues with the inspector, and our roof is wavy in an area. Communication was difficult, at best, for the second job. Slow in responding. Also kept moving out the job. I had to push to finally get a date. Made a change order during the job, and it was never communicated until I received the invoice. The invoice was not sent to me for over a month past the work completion. read more

After they were finished, the perimeter was scrupulously cleaned, and they even borrowed a bit of touch up paint to cover some chips caused by the removal of nails from the old shingles. I selected this company because a friend had a roof replaced by them and said they are great. Called 5 Star and Michael came out and gave me a quote. I thought the price was rather high for the simple roof replacement I needed but I agreed and signed their contract. During the installation, some problems were found and I asked Michael if they could fix them. He enthusiastically said yes to the few things that needed fixing. After the roof was completed, I gave them the check for the full amount, that's when things went south. They would not return my emails in a timely manner, promised to call but never did. After tracking him down, he lied to me and said those things were already fixed when in fact they were not. Then after I called him out on this, he said that 5 Star can not fix the issues because of some code problem. If Michael knew that he could not fix the issues, why did he say yes? Seems like he will say anything you want to hear until you write him the check. If you have to use this company, have them adjust the contract to include any "little" things that may come up or any other concerns you have. If they won't adjust their contract, go someplace else. read more

Hired to repair minor damage to 3 skylights that did not leak and install snow ramps. After paying $6200 all three skylights leaked and one was cracked. Work was rescheduled over 6 times causing much inconvenience getting access to our cabin site. A tropical storm was rolling in and I really needed someone to fix a gutter and flashing issue on my two story roof which was causing water damage. I would leave zero stars if I could. I had a roof installed 6 months ago. The owner self admitted that he fired the crew that did my roof after they completed my roof. The shingles they used are all wavy/ buckling they even forgot to install drip line on the edge around the back of my house and had to come out three times to attempt to remedy the situation. I have no idea how my roof passed inspection. A month ago 5 Star Roofing sent me an email telling me they were going to replace my roof and I haven't heard back from them since even though I've tried to communicate with them. But since then we asked for a quote to repair some roof leaks and replace one of the cutter spouts that has caused our garage to flood. After the last storms, we had some water seepage on our 2nd floor bed room, which is close to a roof line/window sill. I had no idea where the water was coming from. Our roof is very steep and the access to our house is difficult, meaning additional labor/effort was required hauling materials and making the roof safe to work on. We recently had a new roof done on our home. I had 3 companies provide bids for the job. 5 Star Roofing came out as the best. Michael came and did the bid and was very professional and knowledgeable about the products he uses for the job. He explained everything in great detail and was very open to answering questions.
