We had researched enough to know that we needed someone who would take care of the hard work of sealing leaks and dealing with other issues instead of someone who would just blow in insulation. So they told us if we need anything in future to call them. Obviously we would have paid for their services again. The first time I reached out to them via email, I was told the guy who helped us no longer worked there. The second time they said they were going out of business. But I've called since then and they're still operating. What a scam.. I recommended them to another customer, who said they also told her the same thing. We phoned and scheduled a "free evaluation" with Brian for rodent sealing our attic (we've had a rat problem that we weren't sure we've completely dealt with). He came within a few minutes of the scheduled time. He spent 10-15 mins in our attic, then another 20-30 mins walking around outside and talking. He didn't think we needed to remove & replace our insulation (which would be necessary to attempt any further rodent sealing). He then volunteered to install wire mesh and steel wool *for free* in 2 trouble spots! He did not see any other possible problem areas. So he ended up spending at least an hour, made nothing, and never tried to even suggest we get any paid work done. If that isn't the definition of honesty and integrity, I don't know what is. read more

We just used these guys for our House in San Jose after meeting them at the San Jose Home Show. A little background, we have an older house and we've done a lot work on it, but the one area we've neglected is insulating under the floor (in our crawl space about 1000sq). We met Nick at the home show and we got our questions answered and he seemed to know his stuff, so we set up an appointment then and there for him to come to the house and give us a quote and see the scope of work. We had a few days so we did our research on these guys (Yelp and the BBB) and they are rated well in both so we were pretty confident. When Nick showed up at our house a few days later we told him what we wanted and he went over what they do. He asked to check out the area, take measurements and all that, so we showed him the crawl space and down he went. Once he emerged from the darkness of our crawl space flashlight in hand (no worse for wear) we sat down and talked numbers. This was the painful part, but we knew that going in (nothing is free). He gave us the quote and allowed us the time to talk about it, without him, which was nice. We decided to go with them as they were going to do everything we wanted; insulate, vapor barrier and netting to hold up the insulation. After we agreed he told us he would send us a contact and that we didn't have to pay anything until the job was done and we were happy with the work. Jump a week or so. We had signed contract in hand and the workers showed up to do the work. Overall it went really fast (they had quoted 2.5 days and it only took 1 full day). After the work was complete Nick came back to check the work and make sure we were happy with it. He checked; he was happy, we were happy and he left happy with payment in hand. The process couldn't have been any easier. Not only is Nick easy to talk with he really knows his stuff. The team that did the work was amazing as well. It's been a week since Ecoattics completed the insulation project, and I am writing to update my review to talk about the post-sales experience. Bottom line: Great company and crew, great work, and highly recommended. We scheduled the job for the week after Memorial Day weekend, and as those in this region will remember well, that was also the first week we hit triple digits -- for the entire week. The crew was more than willing to start earlier to beat the heat, but because the vacuum that removes old insulation is rather loud, I had to be considerate of my neighbors and ask for the vacuuming to start no earlier than 8:00am. Naturally, that restricted how much work the crew could do on the first two days before the attic got to be unbearable. However, they really stepped up. Even after I told them that I was more than willing to stretch out the project rather than rush it or make them stay later, they still got everything on the checklist done as originally planned. I was able to go into the weekend (when the temperatures were highest) with new insulation. Other things worth mentioning: 1) Communications - very proactive and consistent. When one issue cropped up during the installation, Cliff, the CEO, was in touch within 15 minutes (after normal business hours), and was at my house at 6:30am the next morning to discuss remedies. The crew (Jonathan and Sean) also checked in as often as I requested throughout the job. 2) Customer-focused attitude - in the course of discussing the above-mentioned issue (having to do with debris and containment), the attitude was always "we want to meet our customers' standards." There was no defensiveness -- very forthright and solution-oriented. 3) Thoroughness - the crew was more than happy to oblige my request for pictures of my cleaned-out attic so I could keep for my general contractors' future reference when I plan additional work up there. Upon my request, they also provided measurements of the new insulation to verify achievement of the standard I paid for. Furthermore, after completion of the job, Cliff came out again to take a look at the work himself, help me do a bit more cleanup around the attic space, and to discuss wrap-up. I should also mention that they provide a certificate for the insulation work, including the name of the manufacturer, which is immensely helpful for future follow-ups if necessary. 4) Flexibility - again, due to the temperature issues, there was a possibility that the job would have to be extended (which I was completely fine with). But their crew chief Brian came out to add to the manpower and got it all done on schedule. 5) Cleanup - very thorough clean-up of the space after the job was done. I had very little left for me to do -- when they say they leave the space as they originally found it, they mean it. 6) Follow-ups - Cliff made it clear that they are not just going to walk away after completion. He invited me (multiple times) to let them know if additional issues or questions come up. Their work has made a huge difference. My AC unit kicks on far fewer times day or night, and the inside temperature (which I have been monitoring) has stayed very consistent over the last week. In summary, this company works hard, deals with its customers openly and honestly, is skilled at what they do, and cares about follow-through. I have a two story house that looks west and we all know when the temps hit three digits you start to ask yourself what else i can do or add to keep the house temp down. Had a new a/c unit installed and it just didn't perform as I expected it too. Had two ac companies come out and check the system. It's working fine but my vaulted ceilings and duct distribution was not up to par. Called ecoattics to come check it out. They recommended the radiant barrier first and suggested I wait to see if the ducts needed to be replaced later, and that I should do insulation last if necessary, but that my insulation was not too bad. Went with ecoattics suggestion for the radiant barrier, the installers showed up and did a great job, cleaned up after themselves and left. I wanted to give it a few days to see if there was a difference, and today it hit 101 and my ac did not struggle to keep the house cool. There was an obvious difference in the inside comfort. We could not have been more happy with our overall experience with Cliff and Thomas and the work they did. Within a day of contacting Cliff, he came out to take a look at our attic insulation and ventilation. We discussed a variety of options to address the specific issues he saw, and within 12 hours he had sent a very detailed quote covering everything we talked about. This was in contrast to competitors I called that preferred to just give me an estimate over the phone that cost more for considerably less work (just replacing insulation - no radiant barrier or air sealing). He was extremely accommodating with scheduling to start quickly and work around days that we couldn't have them working. Every day of work started with laying out tarps over everywhere they needed to walk inside (including up stairs), and every day finished with them vacuuming everything after the tarps were picked up.
