Amazing company. They removed my attic insulation. Sanitized and sealed all the ducts gaps and cracks. And added new insulation. I myself am a licensed contractor that works on home remodels. I was impressed with their attention to detail and how clean they were. Plastic and tarps used throughout. The first crew showed me some spots where rodents might enter. So I went up there and boarded those spots up. Second crew found a few other spots and took care of it for me. My attic is a fortress now. The price as well was much lower than all the quotes I got. They put dropcloths everywhere to protect our floors, and they cleaned up everything very well. I called this company to come and evaluate my attic insulation. Jesse arrived on time after promising to squeeze me into his schedule. He was professional, polite and jumped right into my attic without hesitation! He advised me that my insulation looked good and I did NOT need new insulation. However, he also pointed out several things I could do to improve circulation, keep rodents out and make my insulation last longer. I was SO impressed and appreciative that he didn't simply try to "make a sale" by recommending something I didn't need. As a customer, I felt obligated to buy his lunch AND call his office and report how appreciative I was of his long drive to provide a great service. This terrible company was a subcontractor of a HVAC company that i did like. Gold stars job was just to remove and replace the blown in insulation. I could tell they were unprofessional and untrained from the start. The guy comes right into the house after its been raining and doesn't take off his shoes and didn't put down a drop cloth. So then i had to explain to this "professional" that he needed to put protect the floor.... communicating that was difficult because he spoke zero English. They also drove onto the lawn when they were backing into my driveway. They also threw some of their tubing right onto my flower bed crushing some new plants. Its like dealing with children. Dont use the business, you don't want them in your house. I don't trust the quality of their work. How could I when they aren't competent with driving a vehicle. read more

We had Gold Star do a closed cell spray foam install for us. Dave the estimator was knowledgeable and friendly. Installation guys were professional but interactive. Unfortunately, the day they were scheduled to do the installation, it was unusually cold out, the weather reports had been wrong. Two-part foams like this require the temperature be moderate to fully expand. Because of the low temperature, they had to use much more than they expected and had not brought enough foam to reach the 'nominal' 2inches we were paying for, so they had to come back a second day. The installation space is hard to reach, our property is unusually challenging, and so they were not able to use their normal heated truck+equipment. Because the first day had been so unusual, they actually had to come back a third time. Despite this, they were very clear all the way along that they were committed to installing the full 2 inches and not leaving any unusually low points or problem areas. Although it took almost three weeks to get it all done, the work looks good, the price was competitive with the other commercial installers and was only about 30% more than do-it-yourself, something we'd looked into but decided against because of time constraints getting everything ready for winter. I had an appointment with Gold Star Insulation today at 8am or close to it. They never showed up. I tried to call the office and see what is going on and the office was closed. After that I tried to call the Salesman and it went to voicemail. So i tried to call him on his cell phone phone and it went to voicemail. I called and left a message for the President and it went to voicemail. It is now 9.40 at night and I have not heard from anyone. This company stood me up and wasted my morning... This company should have more reviews than it does. After having an issue with one of their salesman the shop manager took my concerns to heart and met with me personally. All issues aside... The removal crew battled many obstacles and they never complained! The company honored their bid even though the removal took 2 days instead of a few hours. The reinstallation was amazing! The crew worked fast to accomplish the job and they were very careful about protecting my doors, floors and walls. I appreciate all your work! read more

A huge disappointment. I contracted for gold star to remove fiberglass insulation from my rental property crawl space and replace with a minimum of 2" spray foam insulation. After agreeing on a price, I gave them the tenants contact info to schedule a date, discuss details and arrange for the work to be done. I was told by gold star that the insulation would be done, then the spray foam the next day. A key element was that the tenant would have to vacate the premises for 24 hrs after the spray foam application to accommodate for "off gassing". When the workers arrived to remove the insulation, that moved very quickly. The tenant contacted me to report they were complete. When she asked if they were coming back the next day to spray, the one broken English speaking worker said they were finished and would not be back. She thought that was odd since I told her the spray foam would be the next day. I called the company to speak to a supervisor about the lack of communication wi tyre tenant. They said they would call her right back. I also wanted someone to check to ensure ALL the insulation materials were removed from my crawl space. I was told they would have a field Quality Control supervisor contact me. When he called, he had no information about my job and asked me what he was supposed to be inspecting. My main concern was for ALL the insulation and plastic mesh to be removed. I was very clear about that. He went to the house, inspected the work and said from what he could see, the work was done correctly. A few days later and 30 minutes before the foam truck was scheduled to arrive, the tenant was called and told the truck was broken and wouldn't be repaired for almost a week. The tenant cancelled her hotel reservations for her and her two children. That was On Monday. They rescheduled for Friday morning. New hotel reservations were made, the truck arrived Friday morning and the house was vacated. I arrived as the crew was waiting for the equipment to warm up. It came up in conversation that they had a busy week, meaning the truck was not broke, they just told the tenant that when they ran into scheduling problems rather than just own up to it and apologize. It's now Sunday. I went to to house to see the work. The first thing I saw was fiberglass insulation strewn all over the space and plastic mesh all over the ground hanging from the floor boards. Then I saw the crushed air conditioning duct. Instead of crawling under the duct, they crawled over it, smashing it like a pancake. That section of pipe must now be replaced at considerable cost. The 2" minimum foam is nonexistent (bare wood) in some places, and in varying degrees from 0 to 2 inches throughout the area I inspected. I called then to discuss the damaged t and the missing foam. They said they would send he same crew back out to fix it. I asked that they send a competent supervisor to verify the work. They said they would send out he same guy who inspected the 1st time. The one who didn't see the crushed duct nor the trash insulation laying all over. to en the main boss said he would personally check the work to make sure it was done correctly. As far as e crushed duct, hey said they would have a A/C guy repair it. I agreed to all that and waited... On repair day, the spray foam crew was back out. This time, somehow, they found a very large, rotting raccoon in the floor boards. Mind you, the first insulation removal crew didn't see it, nor did the spray foam crew on the 1st trip under the house. They removed the raccoon. They sprayed some more foam. And rather than have a qualified A/C tech repair the ducting, the boss had the spray foam guy run to Home Depot and get hue stuff to fix it. After the second repair trip, with the supervisor on site, his idea of inspecting the work was to ask the spray foam guys if hey we're done. He never looked at the work. So at this point, no supervisor has ever looked at the work. I hired a A/C professional to check the duct repair, and he discovered they used the wrong size ducting, failed to connect the pipe properly and used he wrong tape to tie it all back together. That resulted in a nearly $200 repair bill. I gave up on trying to get the work done correctly. I haven't been under the house to see what they did in the end. They stay in business because people don't want to crawl under their houses and check to see if hey actually completed the work. In my case, they just wore me out. After paying the A/C company to fix their botched repair on the duct, I just left it alone. It might be correct, or not, I just don't have the energy or patience to deal with it anymore. The bottom line is that these guys are clowns. read more

So far so good, gold star has been out twice for an in process insulation on a major remodel. First on short notice the new construction underfloor insulation was done under miserable conditions in 100+ temperatures in the blazing heat the workers just kept going. Then they returned and removed the insulation from the attic as fast as could have been expected again with no complaints just work. Good job Goldstar. Robert in Loomis. read more
