The staff- to the food was amazing. I have to say this might be one of the best overall Indian resturaunt I have been to. Has something on the menu for everyone, food was delicious, great ambiance. Would highly recommend this! (Note: do not confuse this with the other location, as that one is not great) read more

As a hungry vegetarian, I enjoyed the selection of food and I can eat here. 1. It is near the Path/NJT/Ferry 2. Wide space and many tables 3. Service is very attentive especially for water 4. I was hoping to see Vegetarian Platters but no such thing - all is ala carte 5. I had a paneer and it was good. Rice is separate read more

Lovely restaurant. The staff are so welcoming. We came in around 9pm on a Thursday and it was quite busy. We ordered drinks from their specialty cocktail menu and split the paneer karahi between the two of us. It was fantastic. We ordered medium/spicy which was perfect for us. The decor is modern and open; we had plenty of room to eat. read more

Took the ferry from NYC to Hoboken and found Empyrean Indian Kitchen just a short walk from the terminal--super convenient even though it's not right on the waterfront. We were welcomed with a complimentary rice popper at the table--light, crispy, and a fun start to the meal. For appetizers, we had the steamed paneer momos, which were unique and absolutely delicious--soft dumplings with a flavorful paneer filling and a zesty dipping sauce. For the main dish, I had the Kashmiri chicken kabab, which was smoky, tender, and richly spiced--definitely the highlight. We ended with rasmalai for dessert--chilled, delicate, and lightly sweet, the perfect finish. The vibe is clean and modern, with friendly staff and quick service. If you're visiting Hoboken by ferry, this spot is an easy and tasty stop for some elevated Indian cuisine. read more

The Scarlet Vetter says.....the food here was fantastic! Service was good too. I would recommend!

Food is very delicious And the entire staff is very nice and helpful The rest of their food is also delicious, but the samosas are the most delicious. read more

Despite a busy Friday night packed full of reservations, the host found our group of 3 a spot after 10-15 minutes of waiting! We definitely got lucky since there was a constant movement of customers in and out. The ambiance was nice walking in and sitting down with friendly service. The food was a hit or miss, depending on what the dish was. The good: papadam, samosa. The okay/good: mango Lassi (wish it was a lot colder because it was just above room temperature. Flavor was good though), paneer kali mirch (I wanted more pepper flavor, but this was my first time having it) The not-so-good: saag tofu (no flavor. At all.), paneer kaju makhani (more of a personal preference from party member, but not notably memorable either for me) Would I come back for the food? .... Maybe Would recommend the service? Absolutely. read more

Amazing food but the glass was dirty had little marks and things that i wiped away i shouldnt have to drink like this

4.5*s I recently sampled Empyrean's excellent food again for the first time in a while and could not believe how long I had waited to partake in their delicacies. The vegetarian Samosas were not the largest individually, but the appetizer included a generous 3 of them. The Garlic Tikka included large cubes of tender chicken that had been marinated in garlic, freshly ground spices, and lemon juice before being roasted in the tandoor oven. The dish had always been one of my go-to's, and its flawless execution just reaffirmed that decision. The yellow Tadka Dal was rich and soupy, but could have used a touch less salt. I also sampled a new dish, the Delhi Punjabi Chole, which contained chickpeas cooked in a spiced gravy utilizing Punjabi masalas. The filling dish in savory gravy was divine and a clear new favorite. As usual, the accompanying rice was perfectly-cooked to a light fluff. Lastly, each flaky piece of the bread basket was excellent, no matter if it was a slice of Garlic or Plain Naan, or the Onion Kulcha. I am planning to bring this place back into my ordering rotation. read more

Not a fan of ordering from a QR code at a full service and tipping restaurant. However, the food was very tasty (especially for Hoboken standards), staff was nice, food was reasonably priced, and the restaurant is at a very convenient location-- right off of the Hoboken Path station! read more

Ordered: Butter Chicken ($21): boneless tandoori chicken tikka in tomato and butter sauce Paneer Tikka Masala (~$19): homemade paneer cheese in a creamy tomato sauce Garlic Naan (~$6) Aya's take: I'm a big fan of Indian food and was excited to try this spot out. I placed a pickup order through UberEats and it was ready right on time. The Butter Chicken looked different than any other I've had. It was more orange and had green spices/seasonings which was unusual in a Butter Chicken. It was also a bit spicy which I didn't mind but it wasn't the flavor profile I was expecting. The Paneer Tikka Masala had delicious flavor and possibly one of the better tikka masalas I've had. All the flavors were nicely balanced - it wasn't too tomatoey or too sweet. The paneer was also firm and tasty. The Garlic Naan was delicious and went well with both dishes we got. They only gave us one order of rice which I wasn't sure was assumed to be split among the 2 orders (which are both supposed to come with rice). It would help if they packaged them separately or indicated that on the packaging. Good try overall! read more

I used to enjoy coming to this restaurant, but unfortunately the quality has gone down a lot. This time, the food was nowhere near as good as before. Everything was very oily, and it felt like they are using too much artificial color in the dishes now, which really affected the taste and presentation. The service was also disappointing. In the past, if there was an issue, we could at least talk to someone and they would try to fix it. There were even times before when they replaced a dish without any problem. This time, no one seemed available or willing to take care of customers at all.Overall, the experience keeps getting worse each time I visit. Because of that, I don't think I'll be going back again, and I wouldn't recommend this place anymore. read more

Friends came to visit us from NYC so suggested this place for lunch. Conveniently located right next to PATH so they were able to walk here. Good food, but kind of expensive. Had the -samosa chaat (4/5 friend ordered, he said it was good. Tried a bite and he was right) -lamb kebab (3/5 for me, was kind of tough and gamey for my taste) -reshmi kebab (5/5 I thought this was delicious! Tender and flavorful, my baby also loved it) -chicken tikka masala (2/5 not much depth of flavor, seemed bland and unimpressive) -side of garlic naan (4/5 good but expensive) -roti (2/5 personally did not like, maybe I don't like roti haha) Service was ok, kind of slow and we were told we couldn't order entree with appetizer? Maybe we misunderstood the server. But overall nice read more

Ordered again from here recently via a delivery app. Steamed chicken momo is still good, paneer tikka (tandoori grilled) was also still tasty, but given the price ($23) I really wish there was more quantity. Mango lassi was good, standard. I ordered the mulligatawny soup because it is basically a healthy daal--it was unexpectedly lemony (they had a half lemon submerged in it too) but pretty good. The shrimp curry was not as I expected given the description of it being made with coconut milk (different than the coconut shrimp curries I'm used to & I didn't enjoy it as much) and at $25 should have had much more shrimp in relation to the curry amount. Like there was more than half of the container still full of the curry after the shrimp was eaten, that I just threw away & I hate wasting. I still like Empyrean well enough, but the taste of some of the dishes are hit or miss, and with how overpriced it is, it's not surprising I don't order more often. read more

Got take out from here the other day and absolutely loved the food! Pros: + Great combination of fusion options + I love really good indo-chinese, so when I see a place that does it well, I have to give them an extra star + Vegetarian friendly + Friendly staff + Amazing momos - They have fried and steamed ones. While the fried ones seem to be more popular, I'm much more personally fond of the steamed dumplings myself Cons: - Not so much a con, but just an FYI. The food can get super spicey. So if you're worried about the heat, just ask them to make it mild (they do a great job!) IG: QueenOfAdventureNYC read more

I ordered from them on my birthday because I got a Door Dash gift card (ordinarily I don't use DD or Uber Eats). I have never dined there on the premises. So I can't tell you anything about what the restaurant is actually like. The food was tasty. And they give good portion sizes. I highly recommend the butter chicken. I was not very keen on the garlic naan. It tasted overly bitter. Other reviews on the app said it was good but I didn't care for it. Perhaps it was a bad batch? The rice was very well cooked. I had enough for leftovers. read more

Empyrean Kitchen - Door dash order of butter chicken and rice (naan not pictured) - Indian Near Me - Hoboken, New Jersey

After ordering from another spot in the area that did not deliver on the quality or flavor at all, I was still in a desperate need for my Indian food fix. We ordered via Doordash and the food was still steaming when it arrived. The Tikka Masala Paneer was one of the best that I've had. Honestly, it hit the spot so hard I may never order from another place again. The portions are also very generous. I think my order is solidly three meals. It came with a side of rice, and I also ordered garlic naan on the side. Next time I'm ordering two garlic naans, so I have enough for the next meal. X had their lamb biryani and he said it was very good. Also a huge portion. He's eating that for the next three meals! read more

Loved the food - tasty and very good portion size. Drinks were tasty. Nice ambience. Service is good - attentive with a smile! My husband and I had been here for an early dinner after work. The bar staff offered to make us a custom drink as our second drink order. Food was piping hot and delicious. We ordered veg momos, kofta curry, veg biryani and tadka daal. The portion sizes were such that it covered our lunch for the next day :) Would definitely recommend to friends and family. read more

Amazing food!!! Service is quick and wonderful. Restaurant itself is very cozy and comfortable.

A late night dinner hunt and then you arrive at the right place to satisfy your hunger. This Indian kitchen is delicious with fine cocktails. I always have a habit of ordering the cocktail with the weirdest name and this time it was "The Gujju Misunderstood Smash". If you're a whiskey lover then this one is the drink for you with a hint of ginger, fresh mint and cucumber. My friend ordered "Somrus mango martini". A drink with its own taste, not a fan but it was okay! Coming to appetizers, ordered delicious steamed veg momos. Try this for sure if you're visiting this kitchen. For the main course ordered Tandoori roti and Paneer Kaju Makhani. Tried this combination for the first time and it was tasty. If you'll order medium it will be a bit sweeter however, you can go for the spicy one. The rice is provided on the side with curry! The ambience is perfect. Service was excellent and friendly. They make sure you get what you like and keeps on checking with you in case you've issues with the food or need anything else. Thank you for the hospitality. Kudos to the cooks for serving the delicious food! read more

It was a great restaurant. Food was great!. Service was decent, venue was shady outside but good from inside

I didn't like the mojito, but they had good service and replaced it. It had too many jalapeños. Large selection of food and plenty of vegetarian options. Flavor is average and prices are a bit high. Indoor seating is a bit dark. I got the Kaju Paneer Makhani and wish I chose something spicier. I thought it was odd that after asking the server how spicy my curry would be, they told me that none on the menu are spicy. Overall the taste of food didn't blow me away, but it satisfies an Indian food craving. Menu: https://empyreankitchen.com/main-menu.html read more

Empyrean Kitchen - Butter Chicken - pretty good but not the best I've ever had. - Indian Near Me - Hoboken, New Jersey

do you the angry feeling when you spend money on food that's completely shitty and inedible - this place will make you feel that.

Ordered some momos, paneer and veggie, steamed and fried. Perfect. Their momos are better than restaurants who have prime dish as momos. Highly recommend for taste and location. Might require reservation but staff is friendly. Must try. read more

We went here for a quick Lunch on Saturday Afternoon. We have heard about this restaurant for a long time but hadn't tried it out. We came around 3 PM and didn't know that the kitchen will close at 3:30 PM and reopen at 5 PM. We felt a bit rush as the waitress ask us to order. They were trying to be helpful but I felt a little bit off about the experience. Fortunately, we looked through the menu beforehand so we knew exactly what we want. The food is ok, 4/5. We ordered Chili Chicken, Garlic Naan, and Goat Rogan Josh. The Chicken was crispy outside and tender inside, and the sauce was good. The Goat Rogan Josh is a must. The meat was tender and flavorful. The naan gave out a buttery fragrance, which was amazing. However, the taste was not as good as expected. The naan paired well with the Goat curry dish. We felt that the food was not at the level of other good Indian restaurants, hence, we only gave this restaurant a 4 over 5. Would recommend ordering these dishes. The table service was excellent. The staff was very attentive and thoughtful. They also served complimentary Papadum (lentil Crackers) with 2 different types of Chutney (tamarind) before the meal, which was a win in our minds. The vibe and the service fix with a high-end restaurant, which the price is higher compared to other Indian restaurants. However, the portion was small which made the food even more expensive. Would recommend this place for a date or important events. read more

Best Indian food I've had in JC/Hoboken area in a while (outside of Journal Square). I will happily keep coming back. read more

My son recommended this place to us. The food is good. We ordered quite a few different dishes and they are all good. The place looks nice and the service is great. For those who love their food spicy, it is often hard to know the scale to let the servers know how spicy you desire. We have tried Indian medium in one restaurant prior and it ended up way too spicy for us. So we told the server of this restaurant we will go for an Indian mild. The food was not spicy at all. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you love Indian food. read more

100% my favorite Indian restaurant in the area! I love love love Indian food and this may just be one of the best meals I have ever had... the chicken tikka Marsala is sooooo flavorful and complex in its spices. The chicken is delicious and the curry is outrageous!!! The butter naan is really good-- 1 to 10 an 8. The rice was good but could have been warmer and fresher but all and all good! My friend ordered the butter chicken and loved it. We also ordered the fried chicken mo mo's! They were super yummy but just a little too crispy. I would definitely order them again but I would order the steamed mo mo's. The service was great! The waitstaff is very attentive and welcoming. I cannot wait to go back!!! I highly recommend this hot spot .. read more

Good enough for the Hoboken area. I really wanted to like it, but I thought the flavor and quality was lacking especially with the price. I definitely think this place is popular because it is one of the very few indian restaurants in the Hoboken area. I just wish the flavors weren't disappointing. We ordered the steamed chicken momos and were told that they would take long, however the dish didn't. They came in a little dry and I am convinced they maybe microwaved them to speed up the heating process. I think the best thing we got was the chili garlic naan, which was the perfect crunch. We also ordered the chicken tikka and it was average, I've definitely had better masalas in the past. Overall, I give the food 2/5. I don't think I would come back here unless I was really craving for Indian food and couldn't travel to JC. We came in walk-in on a busy Friday night and they even were able to accommodate us, which I really appreciated. Everything came out really fast. I give service 5/5. The restaurant is clean inside and very modern, however a little cramped which I give 4/5. read more

Five stars to the food and service. Came here as a group of 9 including 4 kids on a Saturday night so of course I didn't expect much. The table we got was spacious and the servers were courteous. Special shout-out to the owner on the Kala Khatta Margherita that he made on a friend's request. We really think it should be part of the menu. Shout out to our server Nandini for an excellent service. Definitely going to visit again even though it's quite a drive for us. read more

i don't understand the ratings. We ordered an cauliflower appetizer, garlic naan, lamb seehk kabob, butter chicken bao, chicken tikka masala, and chicken rogan josh. the flavor never barely moved the dial on any of these. Cute place in Hoboken for a dinner date with friends. Sushma was our server, she was professional and friendly and shared good recommendations when requested. For drinks I had the Indian Jaljeera, it's a refreshing drink with lemon and salt tones, was pretty good and the presentation was fabulous. For appetizers we had Fried paneer momo and paneer tikka. The appetizers were tasty fresh and flavorful, they knocked the ball out of the back on that one. However they did drop the ball on the entrées. We had the salt paneer and the paneer cut hi, both up to the flat in flavors, we didn't enjoy it as much and hence the rating. We will come back to this restaurant but only for appetizers and drinks. Overall a decent option in Hoboken for an Indian meal. read more
