Really good spot for lunch and for groups. Plenty of space either I side by the bar our outside patio which is heated and covered. The fold was outstanding. The chicken naan sandwich was so flavorful. The steak & egg frites were cooked perfectly and the drinks were delicious. We got lucky with parking right in front as it is st. parking so heads up.

(Dined 04/01/2025 TU @ 5:45pm and once before): Ten-hut... I might like this corner eatery a ton! In my quest to explore the various cuisine scenes throughout Jersey City and specifically the Heights, a dear friend and I headed to The Hutton. I first came here last summer for their wonderful happy hour https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=VGSLt33b-GUKId8TCwUR8w but wanted to try their regular dinner menu for my first real meal on this latest trip. Would this eatery hut become a favorite of mine!? PURCHASE The Hutton Mock-A-Rita w/Passion Fruit ($8.00): It had a nice fruity albeit artificial tropical flavor of unknown ingredients, I was pleasantly surprised. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=prQzduM_xkqxILi1FJczpA [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 3.0 of 5.0 STARS] Spice Rubbed Onion Rings w/Goat Cheese ($15.00): A 5-piece portion of large rings, these were hot, lightly browned, crunchy, and had a tendency to crumble when bitten into while the onion ring (not sweet Maui) also broke apart. The goat cheese was a nice touch but unnecessary because the nice seasoning added much to the flavor. However, I was very disappointed in the small portion size. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=yB3yw512PN1Wvo_nh20M9g Jerk Fried Calamari w/Pickles Tartar Sauce ($16.00): A decent portion size, each squid ring was nicely breaded, soft, and seemingly dashed with a cajun-like seasoning. The pickled tartar sauce was amazing and could've eaten that on its own! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=49CjwLuvIs32wcb7dZH9pg Athletic Brewing Co. Atletica Mexican Style Copper Lager Non-Alcoholic Beer 12floz Can $8.00): Dark amber copper color, light malty aroma, light body, light malty watery flavor, clean crushable finish, and malty refreshing aftertaste. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=HG6WnB0NeyFaFCUXGp40bw Fish & Chips Fried Cod w/Lemon Preserve Tartar Sauce ($26.00): I seeked out this favorite dish of mine to try wherever I dined. Two meaty, short, lightly battered pieces of cod emitted steam when I cut into them. Moist and with a hint of spicy seasoning, I liked the flavor, and the tartar sauce added an extra zest to things. The spud sticks were thin, crispy, crunchy, and a pleasure to eat with or without the provided dipping sauces. For the price, I only wished for either another piece or larger portions. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=8lWkDAvDk73D2gCAZHBy1w Pomegranate Sorbet ($12.00): A baked crispy crunchy sweet crumbled granola-like base topped with a smooth scoop of frozen goodness, this was a lovely way to end the meal. I found myself wanting to lick the plate clean! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=aHJbdWcyvhLVSugfgpymOQ SERVICE Welcomed by a friendly gentleman behind the bar, he advised us to sit anywhere (we opted for a high table near the main bar). We were quickly greeted by a young male server with menus. Minutes later, we placed our order, our drinks arrived quickly, and within ten minutes all of the food appeared. We were checked on while empties were cleared away. Once we were ready to leave, we waved over our server, paid up, and mosied on out - all was chill and easy! PARKING (Street; N/A this instance) This was an easy flat 20-minute walk from my friend's place. Otherwise, there appeared to be plenty of spots along the main drag of Hutton St. and all surrounding roads - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A homey neighborhood pub and restaurant with a snug main bar area https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=sFg8QDQSirbuwErg1kwImA that led to a smaller dining area and eventually a large outdoor-like back patio https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=KKN-10ofPQvPnn0QgLC8tg with plenty of seating and various decorations hung on the walls. A good amount of natural lighting came through the many windows and doors while various electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were several TVs throughout but no background music. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=AOsh-MQRo8HvceCGANBtwA ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL The Hutton was a chilled neighborhood spot and would definitely return! It was laid back with minimal local beers on tap, happy hour, tasty food, elevated prices, a good place to catch a game, and the service was adequate. And, I always loved supporting small businesses whenever possible. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $94.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Their truffle gnocchi are to die for! I have tried a couple of different things on their menu and everything was good, I just LOVE their truffle gnocchi. Sitting outside is nice, even in the winter because they have heaters on the patio. They even have a hot toddy for the cold days The staff is always very friendly and attentive, love this place!

What an amazing find! We were in the area and happened upon this hidden gem. They have a huge outdoor seating space in the back, street parking available and at the time we went it was crowded...yet. I had a delicious frozen margarita and my hubby ordered a beer from a nice selection. But it was the food menu that totally wowed me! What an eclectic blend of appetizers and main dishes. American food blended with curry and Caribbean flair. I was blown away and will definitely be back to go through that menu.

$7 for Heineken, $11 for lemon fries. The fries were tasty, I enjoyed the lemony flavor to it. The staff were friendly and service was quick.

Couldn't believe how amazing the food was here. I've lived by this place for years before it was turned into what it is today and was blown away. I came here in the middle of the week for dinner with by best friend and had the: Appetizer: - Guacamole dip with plantain chips - cauliflower (can't remember the sauce) - onion rings Entres: - Skirt steak with mash potstoes and chives - Fish tacos Dessert: - powdered donuts - chocolate brownie (...yea we pigged out LOL) .... OMG WOW! WOW!! Is all we could say. Must try and we will be back.

Me and my friends had a wonderful brunch experience at The Hutton! I called in advance because I really wanted the backyard seating and the last time I came they were too busy so I couldn't. Luckily this time it was pretty empty according to the woman who answered and it actually was! I love the rustic and homey decor. I was blown away by the backyard. So cute! I love that it's enclosed. We came during Memorial Day weekend and were immediately seated and helped. A man who seemed like the manager suggested we have the Frośe because we weren't sure what drink to choose. I'm so glad we went with his suggestion because it came with the cutest rubber duck and it was delish and refreshing on a hot day. For our meals two of us ordered the French Toast and one ordered the Marinated Skirt Steak and Eggs Brunch. We shared an order of Home Fries. Everything exceeded my expectations taste wise! The size of the French Toast and Home Fries was perfect. The only downside we had was the size of the steak (as you can see). It was very small so we told the waiter and he sent it to the back. Supposedly they had a new chef who didn't serve the right size and they gave another piece. I love a restaurant who can correct mistakes seamlessly. I'll say it was an incredible steak. I will surely be back!

My friend and I were visiting this area and from our Yelp search, we decided to stop here for Saturday brunch before heading home. In the back area, they had a bridal shower going on - so they do parties! We decided to just sit at the bar and it wasn't too busy. Our bartender was super friendly and quick with service. The mimosas were made just right! We ordered the fried egg sandwiches and oh my God they were amazing! I think I would drive back to Jersey just to get it!

Definitely sit outside if you can! Even if it's cold. The heaters work well enough that you don't need a jacket. Our server Marisa took great care of us. She had great menu knowledge and was friendly and quick. Everything we ate was delicious. I wish the French toast could come in a half portion, though :)

    Hangover Sandwich
    Stephen L.

Pretty good classic American restaurant / bar. I ordered the Hangover Sandwich (not that I actually needed it for that purpose), and it was quite tasty. It came with fluffy sesame burger buns with a fried egg, sausage, avocado, and chipotle mayo. The egg and sausage were average quality, and the avocado was a good refreshing addition. The chipotle mayo was good to have, but I thought they could've added some more of that. The sandwich was $20, which I thought was a little bit overpriced but not bad. The sandwich also came with fries, which were decent although the ketchup tasted a bit old. The place itself has a classic fairly nice American restaurant decor style with a bar area as well as normal table seating. It is in a somewhat residential area though, so you will need to park on the street. I came on a Sunday afternoon for brunch, and there were only two other customers in the whole restaurant. As such, the service speed was fast. The staff were very friendly. Overall, there is nothing all too special about The Hutton, but if you are interested in some good American food / drinks in this area, then I would recommend this place to you.

Nice atmosphere , the food is amazing and very healthy , we had the quinoa bowl and a side of Brussels sprouts , I can certainly say those were the best Brussels deposits I ever had . Our server Dan was so nice and attentive . The place is very cute and we loved the outside patio , adorable decor and the drinks are really well made . My only issue wasn't even with the place , but with a couple that had two kids screaming the entire hour and half we were there . If you can't control your children leave them at home . Not everyone wants to eat lunch with screaming on the background . We left early because I seriously couldn't take it anymore . Hopefully next time we won't have any disturbances. There should be a policy that if you are disturbing other guests you should leave .

Is it near a Path stop?

Hi, It’s one mile from Journal Square path stop. You could get an uber, bus or taxi from there to the restaurant.

    Is there Parking?

    Just street parking!

Are small dogs allowed in the outdoor area?

I would say not during covid. Maybe when things go back to normal

Since we were big fans of those alcohols, we decided to check it out. The walls of the space were covered in colorful murals with Latin American imagery. There were banquettes along either wall with small tables and ottomans scattered in front of them, providing separate, little areas for each group. Large playing cards were fanned across each table with Jack, Queen, King, and Ace cards each having a menu on its backside. There were bar bites, a spirits list, classic cocktails that could be reimaged with your agave spirit of choice (picture a tequila mojito), and even a custom beverages. The creative drinks were not cheap, coming in at around $20 on average, but they certainly were complex! My La Balacara featured Casamigos Mezcal, spiced pear, Luxardo, orange, ginger, chestnut honey, and a chili tincture. I thought the drink sounded outrageous, but, sadly, all I tasted was that honey, the ingredient of which I was least interested. In fact, the smokiness of the mezcal really did not play well with the chestnut honey, leaving it to taste sort of like licorice. I was not a fan. My companion's El Encanto included Casamigos Cristalino, Lillet Blanc, strawberry-lemongrass cordial, guava, and basil, which sounded herbaceous, but really just tasted like a fancy daiquiri. He enjoyed it, but I found it unimpressive. Our drinks were accompanied by a complementary bowl of spiced popcorn, which was delicious. We had come from an earlier dinner, so the snack was as much as I needed. However, the few larger food items that I saw others order all looked great. While I would go back to Perico to try some other items, I felt like I had had better, more affordable cocktails upstairs at Panela.

Come for to drink, eat somewhere else…read more For those looking to make their liver work, the Monsieur Edouard is spicy and smokey, while the Craig St. Michael blends scotch with rum for a drink that's guaranteed to knock you on your behind. Or keep the last vestiges of summer alive with the tropical-themed Iguana Assembly, full of rum, tea punch and coconut lime. If you're sober or the night's DD, you'll enjoy the tart and fruity Blackberry Jab with lemon, pineapple, pomegranate, and of course, blackberry. However, save your stomach space for elsewhere. We were intrigued by the unique-sounding dishes (no mozzie sticks here, y'all) and excited to try them. But words on paper didn't translate to tastes on tongue--most things felt off or fell flat. - Duck Poutine: As someone born and raised in the Great White North, my arteries basically pump poutine (or are clogged by them, I'm not sure which anymore). So I was looking forward to this duck confit twist on my national dish. Unfortunately, what I got was an over-peppered cauldron of soggy fries with a few nubs of cheese curds in an oddly seasoned gravy. It might be the only time in my life I've pushed away a plate of poutine. No bueno. - Brussels Sprouts Caesar: This was fine, though I failed to taste any miso in the dressing. Generous portions size. - Spicy Elk Meatballs: Spicy tomato sauce, yes. But the elk again tasted over-peppered. And I'm all for trying new meats, but I'm not sure elk translates well as a meatball--too tough and chewy for my liking, even when drowning in aforementioned sauce. The accompanying swiss chard and goat cheese polenta weren't bad--wish there'd been more of those. Service was decent the first time we visited, but not so great the second time. It's also worth noting that the inside is DARK dark and the menu is via QR code, so prepare to blind everyone with your phone throughout the night unless you were bitten by a radioactive spider with night vision.

Every course was delicious, beautifully prepared, and exceeded expectations. That alone would have made for a great evening. What truly made the experience exceptional, however, was our server, Kyle. Having managed fine dining restaurants myself and dined at many high-end establishments, I pay close attention to service. While this isn't marketed as fine dining, Kyle delivered a level of service that absolutely was. His attention to detail, professionalism, and cleanliness were second to none. After every course, he didn't simply clear plates... he thoroughly cleaned and reset the table with a level of care and precision that I honestly haven't seen from a server in a very long time, anywhere. Every detail was handled seamlessly, making each course feel like a fresh dining experience. Kyle elevated an already fantastic meal into a truly memorable one. Restaurants can teach the mechanics of service, but genuine hospitality and pride in your work are much harder to find. Kyle clearly has both. The kitchen deserves compliments for an excellent meal, but Kyle deserves recognition for providing some of the best service I've experienced in years. He's a tremendous asset to your restaurant, and I hope his hard work is recognized.

It's tucked right around Franklin Social and one can confuse it for another apartment building, but instead you're moved up to the top floor where it feels like you're back in the 1800s, in a good way. A speakeasy, but on elevation. It's first come, first serve for most parties. There's one table for a party bigger than 4, but most are for couples. Very cozy tables with comfy seats and candles dimly lit to make it very cozy for a wrap to a date night. The cocktails were elegantly thought about too. Love the history behind the name and the drink menu was expansive, yet understandable. You can definitely get whatever fits your palette here with cocktails. We got the beauty in green & mint condition cocktails and loved both of them. We'll definitely come back, though likely keeping it to ourselves!!

I would 100000000% recommend getting the Dealer's Choice; the creativity and balance were outstanding. For a Monday night, the bar was surprisingly busy, yet the bartender handled everything with ease. The service felt personable yet intimate, and it really elevated the entire experience. I'm so glad I made the decision for my partner and I to come. And listen... I will absolutely be back, especially for that Hey Sweetie with sweet potato syrup. A masterpiece.
