(Drank/Snacked 07/08/2025 TU @ 5:30pm): We finally made time to scale these alps! In my quest to explore the various cuisine scenes and things to do throughout Jersey City and specifically the Heights, my friend and I finally visited The Alps. Opened since early 2024, we've walked by this place numerous times but usually it was earlier in the day before they opened, and we simply never made it back any time after 4:00pm. This time, we made a concerted effort to check them out. Was the wait to climb this alps to enjoy some libations worth it!? PURCHASE Snack Mix ($5.00): A mix of peanuts, Fritos, Chex, and a secret sauce (no sauce on this visit), this was a fun way to absorb the alcohol and kept our mouth dry which led to more drinking - bravo! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=p_ZAYlA9pLX-aMTdWqFVCQ Leaping Langosta Cocktail ($16.00): Crafted with mezcal, mango liqueur, Thai tea, honey, and lime, it was a fruity smoky sweet elixir that deserved to be sipped - yummy! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=t8gu0ZMjPsusQTYzyiZ9VA The Alps Martini Cocktail ($16.00): A classic and simple cocktail with a hint of citrus, this was refreshing. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=9avrUyAQ_gN6VfuiYtWl8g Cheese Plate ($24.00): A rotating selection of cheeses, olive oil crackers, pickled vegetables, nuts, etc., this was a menagerie of finger snacks probably better paired with wines than beer and cocktails, the blue cheese was really potent, but we liked the variety. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=S0NfvN9DYqm0jEMf336WMA Tuesday Night Special - Secret Wine Tasting (COMP): This was a fun promotion where you won a bottle of the secret wine if you were able to identify the varietal and region. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=ci5zDoMHkEZL-Z-pgVsfVw Pipeworks Brewing Co. Lizard King Pale Ale Beer 16floz Draft ($9.00): Bold amber color, citrusy fruity hoppy tropical aroma, light body, citrusy fruity hoppy tropical flavors, smooth finish, and citrusy hoppy tropical aftertaste. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=QvcUswXrwsx8YXAfHWUuog SERVICE We strolled in as the only customers at the time, grabbed a couple of stools at the bar, and were warmly greeted by the young gentleman (Adam) behind the bar who took care of us the entire time as the place slowly filled up. All of our orders arrived quickly enough as we watched him craft our cocktails with care. Sadly, this night the kitchen wasn't fully working, so nothing cooked. Being the sole employee at this time, he did an awesome job - thank you! PARKING (FREE; N/A this instance) This was a moot point since I walked the flat 10-minute distance. No parking lots in sight, there seemed to be plenty of spots along the main drag of Palisade Ave. and all surrounding side streets - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A welcoming cocktail bar https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=8y2L7pqcuAvZUlE53CxiGA with a friendly front area while there was a more private loungy living room https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=XJYlUcTQf6QG3Dg8jFYgIQ back area. You went from sophistication to 60's man-cave. Very good natural lighting came through the front windows while electric ceiling lights filled in the rest (the back room was dark). There were no TVs while low-tempo music played in the background. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL The Alps was a chill evening out as we enjoyed tasty craft cocktails, craft beer, snacks that tied us over (we were disappointed that the kitchen wasn't functional as it deprived us from a full experience), and exceptional service. The prices were a tad elevated, the kitchen menu https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=qQ0avaTEtrONyz7nSbP_2A was extremely limited, the beers https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=jigldaXx2eXCa3724iY9uQ and house cocktails https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=DJGR-7Dzu-gIgp_VvAF6Jw menus were decent, and their spirits menu was off the chart. Plus, I always preferred to support small mom & pop businesses. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $75.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Great place! We wanted a good cocktail & THIS PLACE DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Adam, bartender extraordinaire, mixes very satisfying libations & the food is excellent! I had The Philadelphia Collins, the misses had The Marcelino. Both excellent recommendations by Adam. Food: Cold Peanut Noodle Bowl & Croquette Melt (a very complex taste compendium!). Both excellent. 5 Stars!

Came by the Alps for the first time on a weekday. The place was nice. It gave me Brooklyn vibes with semi fancy decor and down to earth bartenders. Its definitely a popular neighborhood spot as the bartenders seemed to know people as they came in. The place has a few bar snacks however they often have local food spots from the neighborhood come and take over their kitchen and sell food. I went during one of those times which gives it a dope spin on the bar! I also tried their black bean hummus thats on their bar menu which was really good! It comes with plantain chips and was a good size for a few people to nibble on. Now their cocktails were pretty amazing. They had a decent selection of spirits to choose from. They also Had a nice wine menu which I will be back to try. The espresso martini was a winner!

Awesome date night vibe. The bar area is quiet with cute little quirks like trapper keeper menus. Bartenders are all very friendly and welcoming. The food is all vegetarian with a decent selection of vegan items as well. Picadillo pies are our go-to when we come here.

I recommend this place for drinks and vibes. The menu was off putting. Nothing seemed appetizing so I actually went somewhere else to eat. The drink menu is expansive but admittedly a bit expensive. The decor is very cute. The crowed is typically late 20s and 30s. The staff was attentive and friendly.

This place definitely gives you an upscale cocktail bar feel right in the heights of Jersey City. The inside is very sleek and gives off a great cocktail bar vibe. The gimlet here is a must order. One of the best gimlets I have had. The black bean hummus and croquettes also are delicious. It is a little on the pricier side but the atmosphere is great and the service is very prompt

This place exudes cool. Exquisite selection of wines, cocktails, and craft beers and a very solid food menu for small bites. The kicker is the atmosphere though as the space is beautifully designed! A much needed addition to the neighborhood. Already been here twice and it's only been open a week! Go here!!!

Went opening weekend. The place was full but a nice full. Ordered cocktails and they were great. I do plan to go again.

An event space review:…read more So, I've never been here for like a regular Saturday night and I've never actually hosted an event here but, I've been to this space for a few local Hoboken events and I've also been here for a private tour and the end result: It's aesthetically amazing. I've recommended at least one friend to get married here (and they are) and as far as event spaces go this one is damn fine with a max capacity of about 200 people. Mutli room all with beautiful wood floors, dark leather couches, dim lighting, brick walls. Wow. Definitely Prague in the 1940's. Definitely one of the hipper locations I've been in Hoboken. The cocktail list is extensive and is of the "mixologist" type. They are pricey $11-$13 or so but, that's how much fancy cocktails cost these days. Womp womp. I really can't talk about ambiance on a regular night since I've never been but for an event space, this place is truly dark, romantic and a super cool spot in Hoboken definitely a must stop and see when planning a special event, wedding, bday, fundraiser. (I have no clue on pricing/rental so good luck).

RUN away - no attention to detail, no designated event manager, and if something goes wrong, you…read morewill receive no apology or explanation. Their glaring incompetence was shocking and unacceptable. We booked our October 22, 2022 wedding in May 2021. The event managers at the time were knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions and concerns, so the decision seemed right (sadly, they both ended up leaving before our wedding). After that, getting any answers from the venue was like pulling teeth. From March 2022 to May or June they had a new event manager named Kevin who was entirely non-responsive so I started including the restaurant group manager Adam on emails. Eventually, Kevin disappeared. In July 2022, I met Adam in person. He assured me that he would adhere to all the promises made previously and we went through a list of questions I had. I asked to schedule a tasting and finalize the menu/pricing for our October wedding and he explained that they should have a fall menu by mid-August. It seemed like we had turned over a new leaf and were moving in a positive direction. Mid-August came and went, and I reached out asking about the menu which Adam indicated would be ready by September 2-3. From 8/30 to 9/7 multiple emails were sent without anything being scheduled. Somehow, my wedding planner got contact information for another staff member from another wedding planner and was able to get us in for a tasting on September 22. We did not receive final menus, alcohol lists, or pricing until literally the week of our wedding. In multiple forms of communication, the venue assured us they had enough tables for our guests and that they could provide freezer storage for our custom ice cream cakes. On Friday 10/21, I personally delivered the cakes out of a cooler bag to a member of the Kolo Klub staff and told them they were ice cream cakes and they needed to go in the freezer. She took them into the back herself and made me wait in the hallway so I did not see where they were stored. Come wedding day, we had issue after issue. There were not enough chairs set up for the guests for the ceremony so people were standing all over the back of the room. The venue had promised they had enough tables to seat our guests, yet two tables were sat around coffee tables. The bartenders were all making the specialty cocktails differently. During the speeches, there was loud music BLARING from the Pilsener Haus downstairs so people could not hear the speeches. The buffet took forever to be re-filled. And finally, the venue RUINED ALL FIVE of our custom ice cream cakes AND DID NOT TELL US AT FIRST OR APOLOGIZE. These were gorgeous, custom cakes from Torico in Jersey City that looked like amethyst geodes. I only found out because I asked a server to have the cakes taken out so my photographer could take pictures of them before they were cut and I was told something like "there was an incident and there were no cakes." As you can imagine, I was irate. The venue had upheld ZERO of their promises and now had destroyed our desserts that we paid for out of pocket and hand-delivered. I had NO WEDDING CAKE. There was no manager or head staff member on hand handling this situation and no apology. There were no proposed solutions of how they were going to provide dessert for our guests. In fact, my brother-in-law went out to a bakery and purchased cookies with his own money. I demanded to be repaid the money I spent on the cakes, and my brother-in-law insisted a staff member retrieve cash to compensate us, which thankfully happened. At some point what looked like a supermarket ice cream cake appeared. I am not sure if the venue eventually sent someone to get the cake or one of my other relatives got it. It has been two months since the wedding and I still have received no apology or information on what happened, despite a staff member saying "someone would be in touch." If I could do it over, I would never have hosted my wedding here.

Area for a setting up a photo booth & cocktail tables (or whatever you like). My friends bridal shower had a dessert table, full bar, photo booth, and cocktail tables. Upstairs: Big space to set up tables, chairs, couches etc. Plenty of room for a dancing area and food. My friends bridal shower had rented couches and glow in the dark cocktail tables.
