I went there for a drink before I was viewing an apartment. A lot of Jets gear but the bartender was pretty fine. I'll be back soon .

If you had any question that this place is an Irish pub, you will receive the answer with a big Irish and Jameson flag draped proudly as you enter the bar. In addition to their Irish heritage, The Shannon is also a great sports bar and dance club. We love that leashed and friendly dogs are allowed, but only before the night life begins, so get there when they open to enjoy a drink from their full bar, play pool, watch the game, bring your own food, and meet some super cool people. There is a space up front with one bar and a back room with another bar, so plenty of space to enjoy some dog friendly fun! We love that there were a few other dogs enjoying New Years celebrations and it makes us happy that they all met at a local dog park. The staff is great and always checking-in. We heard Sundays are great to bring your dog as it is like an impromptu Yappy Hour! Everything is more fun with fido!

We spent a few hours at this bar and it really brought me back to my good ol' sorority days…read more Remember playing beer pong and doing keg stands in dark, dingy fraternity houses? Haaaaaaaaa. Let's face it, there's way too many bars in Hoboken to choose from. Tally-Ho isn't one of the best in the area, but it's not completely terrible either. If you can't already tell, it caters to a crowd of young adults/college students. I age backwards, so I don't care LOL. We came a little before 11pm on a Saturday and it wasn't crowded yet. As the night went on, it got more and more packed. When I say packed, I mean shoulder-to-shoulder packed. There are two bars - one near the entrance and one towards the back. They have a giant connect 4, Jenga, beer pong, and corn hole. It was dark and dingy in there. There's really not a huge amount of space, so keep that in mind if you're looking for a huge dance floor. We sat at the bar for some drinks. The margarita wasn't very good. It was too watered down and weak. Girl, I need my tequila!!! The Dark 'n' Stormy cocktail was made well; it was refreshing and spicy. They have a limited food menu which mostly consists of your typical greasy/fried finger foods. Service wasn't bad for the amount of people there. It was extremely busy and the bartender did the best she could to handle a large crowd. The DJ that night mainly played reggaeton and dembow, both of which I love. Wish he played more variety of other genres, though. Unfortunately I didn't get to dance as much as I wanted to because there was no room. So I had to settle for doing a few booty shakes and hip swings at the bar. ALSO... closer to midnight, the bouncers got rid of all the seats at the bars, which means everyone who was already seated had to stand all night long. WHY? They said "they turn into standing-only after a certain time". Very silly in my opinion, but okay lol. Would I come back? Ehhhhh, maybe. I won't deny that I had some fun here. If only they had more space... I would try to come a lot earlier before the crazy crowds.

I played there twice, once for a charity event supporting education, health, and community causes, and later opening for Vikas Sapra. Across my DJ years, I was fortunate to play 6 nights at Tao Group venues, including PHD, Avenue, Vandal, and Marquee, 4 of them tied to charitable events. I wasn't skilled or recognizable enough at the time to be booked for prime for-profit nights, so those opportunities meant a lot to me and gave me a window into how professionally Tao ran its venues. PHD had the added advantage of that spectacular rooftop setting, where sunset over New York can naturally turn into a proper nightclub a few hours later. Later, Vikas asked me to open for him on a Thursday, which genuinely meant something to me because I considered him one of the finest DJs working in New York. His depth and breadth of musical knowledge are elite even by global standards; he is an excellent turntablist, and he could move across genres and eras without making the transitions feel forced. He was also among the most polished and professional operators I observed in nightlife, a seriously talented guy who never seemed interested in announcing how talented he was because the work made the case. Unfortunately, it snowed that night, and I eventually handed him an ice cold, nearly empty room that never really got going; I left disappointed and embarrassed, but c'est la vie. Inside the booth, everything still reflected why PHD and Tao Group operate at such a high level. The sound engineer was incredibly cool, the DJ setup was thoughtfully configured, and the lighting behind the booth gave the room real visual energy without interfering with the work of playing. I was probably a little in over my head getting opportunities like that, but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take, and I'm grateful I took mine. PHD remains a terrific New York rooftop and one of those places where the setting, production, and people behind the scenes all make the experience feel considerably more professional than the average nightclub.

I wouldn't refer anyone to this place given their inconsistent practices. Besides, Manhattan has so many more cooler, trendier, and hip places to chill and hang out without dealing with these subjective issues. Plus, what does the name have to do with PhD when it's clear there seems to be no affiliation with this credential in terms of quality or customer service.

IM COVERED IN STRIPPER BLOOD(again)…read more Let me back up an hour. As the self proclaimed third wave feminist that I am, bridging the gender pay gap is a way that I can put my money where my mouth is. Strip clubs and GoGo bars are empowering to women, how else can you make $40 cash in the timespan of a radio friendly pop song. Ajs is the perfect middle ground for everyone, classy enough to put on a suit with your crew of boys and pregame with scotch and arrive there with a uber. Still naughty enough to be the last stop you and your college friends make on a night of binge drinking fourloko and re creating jackass pranks like your 15 years old again. I was the latter. When your hammered on cheap well drinks and redbull a naked woman is the last thing you need, all important decisions are thrown out. 10 dollar ATM fee is nothing. $9 lukewarm corona with no lime? get me a six pack. over priced hookah? fuck it. Im not going to bore you with the details of sitting at the bar tossing dollar bills at the pole dancers and the lame almost telemarketer like conversation to get a lap dance. let cut to the "private" area. the dark lit back corner with curtains, chairs and a bouncer. i have been to countless clubs and gotten countless lapdances in the past so I know the tricks and lingo. I always pay upfront and know exactly what to expect. No amount of "baby stay for one more" or " hey you are so hot papi" will ever get me to stay past what I want. I told her I only wanted two dances and paid for it upfront. Thats when it turned sour. She was grinding on me for less then a verse when she stood up to adjust her bra when I noticed a giant tampon string hanging out of her thong. I look down and to my horror the light grey colored pants has now become a Pollack like art piece of blood stains. we both notice at the same time and she quickly yells "OK DANCE OVER BYE". I told her i dont care about the blood. fuck I take shots of period blood all the damn time like the Domincan vampire that I am. but I do feel like I am entitled to $20 back since she never gave me the second dance and I now need to throw away these pants. The bouncer came over and me asked me leave told me I was causing a scene. well at least let me wash my hands and give my pants a light wiping with paper towels so im not walking around jersey city at 3am looking like Jules from Pulp Fiction after he shot marvin in the face . Still over all not the worst Strip Club experience I have had and besides the GWAR show that happened on me the other girls were entertaining and the music was fun. I would come back......... just at a different time of the month.
