This speakeasy feels like a hidden gem in JC. It's a small space with dim lighting so it's good if you're looking for drinks on a date night. I went for one of their cocktails that I knew I'd like, but on another occasion I'd want to see what they cook up based on a description (aka Dealer's Choice).

Attic Bar: pre-dinner drinks (dealers choice on the left, luxe be a lady on the right)

Can't believe it's taken me so long to come here - incredible ambiance/vibe, both the menu cocktails and dealer's choice cocktails were fantastic with a lot of intention and detail, but the food (Franklin Social) made me melt. I got the Franklin burger, truffle fries, Caesar salad and sishito peppers. The team was very attentive and informative, and really made us feel like they were happy to have us there versus just serving us. Might even come back tonight lol

Check out my photos for what the entrance looks like, since it's not listed and does not have a sign. If youre standing in front of Franklin Social, go to your right and make a left down Mercer Street. Youll see the door on your left, its directly after the windows for Franklin Social. Open the door, walk up the stairs. Juno Attic bar have a hand full of tables, and couches, and a hightop bar area. They can seat maybe 25 people. Its just 1 room, with a 1 stall bathroom off to the side. I came on a sunday night for my birthday, there was only 1 bar tender, and no reservations needed. There were 2 people having drinks and midway through my time, a group of 6 came. keep in mind, they do not allow large groups. if you come with a group, you might not be able to sit with eachother. they do not offer food. their menu is small, but will open your eyes and taste buds to craft cocktails. We were greeted right away by the bar tender, who seated us. we were given water and menus right away. about 3 mins later, we were greeted with a "welcome drink". This was awesome, hello did someone say great hospiltality?! i love free shit, especially high quality drinks. Ask me what it was. i cant tell you. it had absinthe and it was refreshing. my date and i truly had a great time. its a calm place, but the service and drinks were phenomneal. Look, listen...the drinks are $15 bucks, but well worth it. we had a nice buzz. the flavor is impecable. i would never pair these items together. give me a beer and a tequila shot, and im good. We had 1 drink each. and i highly suggest the apples and almonds drink! i could have 5 more of these for sure! service was perfect!

First, make a reservation if you're visiting on any peak hours! It is such a quaint bar perfect for dates night or catching up with a friend. It's not very large so I would come with more than maybe 4 friends. The drinks here are good and they pour well. I ordered Apples and Almond and the Farmer Almanac. My bf ordered Yamabouki (I think that was the name) and the African flower. They're great! The staff here are also pretty nice. It doesn't get too loud where you can't hear yourself think.

Super dark but a picture of our first two dealer's choice cocktails

This was a really fun experience. The Attic Bar has a distinct speakeasy feel with limited seating but a very cool ambiance. There was a diverse group of parties ranging from couples to friends to men out on a guys night. We tried several Dealer's Choice cocktails, which was both a fun experience and resulted in some awesome cocktails. The service was also excellent!

Ask the Community - The Junto Attic Bar

Can you eat here or only drink?

Do they play good R&B music?

How many drinks does a ticket include? We went once before and assumed we were capped off at two drinks then got up to leave and the servers seemed surprised.

After dinner at Franklin Social, we found this bar right next door, which turns out they're under the same ownership.

I think this omakase experience is very intimate and the food was so good! We did the 17 course omakase and I think it was $100. It also came with sake. I had a matcha cocktail that I still think about. It was so refreshing. Every single bite was perfect and made fresh in front of you. Our sushi artist was Alex (I think) and he was lovely! I also love the speakeasy vibes here. Super cute for a date night! I will definitely try to go to other Sushi by Bou locations in the future.

Amazing food, but felt scammed on the bill…read more I visited Sushi by Bou in Jersey city last Saturday night for their 17‑course omakase, which is advertised at 150 dollars per person. My cousin and I were genuinely impressed at first - every piece of sushi was delicious, the fish tasted fresh, and the presentation was beautiful. For most of the meal, it felt like a great high‑end dining experience. The problem came at the very end. The host asked if we wanted anything else, and I specifically asked what our options were and how much they would cost. I was told we could order any of the original 12 pieces à la carte, but when I asked the price per piece, the host hesitated and never actually answered the question. Then the bartender and sushi chef said, "Give them all 12 pieces. Run it back," in a way that made it sound like it was part of the experience, not an extra charge. At no point did anyone clearly state the price of these additional pieces or indicate that this would significantly increase our bill. When the check came, it was close to 700 dollars for two people who started with a 150‑dollar‑per‑person omakase and only had about a drink each. Every extra piece had been charged individually at full price, even though I had directly asked how much it would be. Instead of feeling taken care of, we left feeling misled and scammed. A wonderful meal was completely overshadowed by the lack of transparency at the end. All it would have taken was a simple explanation like, "Additional pieces are X dollars each," so we could make an informed decision. Because that did not happen, it feels like the upsell was intentional and deceptive. The sushi itself was excellent, but I cannot recommend this place until they are honest and upfront about pricing for add‑ons and do a better job of respecting their customers. Transparency matters just as much as good food.

Since we were big fans of those alcohols, we decided to check it out. The walls of the space were covered in colorful murals with Latin American imagery. There were banquettes along either wall with small tables and ottomans scattered in front of them, providing separate, little areas for each group. Large playing cards were fanned across each table with Jack, Queen, King, and Ace cards each having a menu on its backside. There were bar bites, a spirits list, classic cocktails that could be reimaged with your agave spirit of choice (picture a tequila mojito), and even a custom beverages. The creative drinks were not cheap, coming in at around $20 on average, but they certainly were complex! My La Balacara featured Casamigos Mezcal, spiced pear, Luxardo, orange, ginger, chestnut honey, and a chili tincture. I thought the drink sounded outrageous, but, sadly, all I tasted was that honey, the ingredient of which I was least interested. In fact, the smokiness of the mezcal really did not play well with the chestnut honey, leaving it to taste sort of like licorice. I was not a fan. My companion's El Encanto included Casamigos Cristalino, Lillet Blanc, strawberry-lemongrass cordial, guava, and basil, which sounded herbaceous, but really just tasted like a fancy daiquiri. He enjoyed it, but I found it unimpressive. Our drinks were accompanied by a complementary bowl of spiced popcorn, which was delicious. We had come from an earlier dinner, so the snack was as much as I needed. However, the few larger food items that I saw others order all looked great. While I would go back to Perico to try some other items, I felt like I had had better, more affordable cocktails upstairs at Panela.

Now the DJ... not jazz, not chill vibes, not whatever TikTok led me to expect. Nope. Full-on techno/trip hop/drum & bass mashup that was so loud I had to yell at my husband across the table, "HOW'S YOUR BURGER?!" And the bouncer out front - bless him, but communication skills = 0. He asked if we had a reservation, then gestured for IDs with his hands which my husband understood as whip out your reservation... after my husband is fumbling with his phone and showing the bouncer our reservation, the bouncer THEN clarified, and I felt like I was in some annoying game of charades. As an older born and raised New Yorker, the tough guy bouncer act is TIRED! We've seen it. Move on. Other than that? Food amazing. Service with our waitresses was amazing. And the decor was fire with the vinyls on the wall. Would I go back? Maybe. Especially if next time they swap the techno for some Japanese jazz so I can actually hear my husband without yelling.
