Went back to Luna after an awesome yelp event here and honestly I will be making this spot a regular in my rotation. Tried the land and sea pasta, shrimp with fettuccine in a mushroom sauce. It was so good!! On Mondays they have a special on personal Detroit pizza and it's really good!! The service was also next level!! Our server was very attentive but also gave us space to enjoy our food. Love the decor here - the moon, the lights, it's very cozy read more

The Full Moon Pancakes are the star of the show thick buttermilk pancakes, fresh berries, housemade strawberry butter, and a lemon zest elixir syrup that I'm still thinking about. Get these. Non-negotiable. The bottomless mimosas kept the vibe going but fair warning...no one tells you when your hour is almost up. You're deep in conversation, laughing, living... and then suddenly it's "check please?" A little heads up would go a long way! Everything else on the menu holds its own too. Solid brunch, cute spot, great energy. Just set a timer. read more

Stumbled across Luna because the restaurant next door was a 45 minute wait, and SO GLAD we did after I read the menu. Wow!! And I mean, Wow! They had me at Braised Short Ribs with a side a Gnocchi. I saw that and had to get a table. Greeted by Leidy, the beautiful and gracious hostess, we asked for her table outside because it was a beautiful evening, and Leidy was very accommodating. Also, we were able to watch the soccer game from the two flatscreens in the tent. We had the sweetest and personable server, Kelly, who was very patient with us. Both she and.Leidy had some excellent recommendations. Glad we trusted them. We're not big on alcohol, so we had mocktails that were crazy good! I had the faux mojito (best one I've had yet!) and my friend had some drink that was made with Granny Apple puree. Yu-ummm! We'll definitely be going back for these! The food: Started out with meatball appetizers with pesto and red sauce, which came with parm toasts on the side( yeah, such good toast!) I'm super picky about meatballs, but man, these were really tasty. I love it when food isn't salty and they did not disappoint. I did find the Red Ssuce to be slightly sweet, which we're not crazy about, but this sauce was actually OK. It did not have too much sugar in it. I just wish they wouldn't add any sweetness to the tomato sauce at all. But, yeah, it was good. My friend had the burger, which was stacked and sooo juicy & tasty! As I mentioned, I had the braised short ribs with gnocchi. Excellent! Those short ribs were yummy! Both Kelly, our server, and Leidy checked on everyone's table. And then, the owner, Julian, came out. He was so cool! Nice guy! For dessert, shared a nice, warm bread pudding with vanilla ice cream on the side. I loved it because it wasn't overly sweet...perfect! ( I had to bring the rest home because I was stuffed) All in all, it was a great experience, nice hang, food was exceptional, service was great, so we'll probably be regulars from now on. Thanks to Razza, for not taking us. I feel we got a better deal at Luna! I give this place way over 5 stars! And thank you to the super nice fella bussing the table! Very amiable! PS...How could I forget! The Truffle Fries!!! Get them! read more

I was in Jersey City for work and came across this place. Walked in and the ambiance is beautiful. Server got me seated at the bar. Service was quick- they got my drink and food order and food came out quick. I tried their espresso short ribs and it was BOOM! Absolutely blew my mind. Ribs were super moist and espresso sauce over polenta made it taste delicious. Hands down one of the best dish short ribs dishes I had in a while. Highly recommend this place and will be visiting again when in town. read more

Nicely decorated place with fun music playing. I had trouble choosing what I wanted to eat and the waitress recommended the Detroit style pizza without hesitation. It was a great recommendation! Crust was authentic and fantastic with the crispness and chewy texture. The toppings were fresh and fantastic! Pepperoni was spicy, peppers and onions were cooked, but still crispy and the sauce was nice and tangy. Really, really good pizza! read more

We went on a weeknight to celebrate our anniversary. The weather was beautiful so we sat outside. Luna is in a lovely neighborhood and the outdoor space is very comfortable. Our server and the rest of the staff were friendly and accommodating without hovering. I had a cocktail to start which was really tasty. We started with sourdough bread; it was delicious. I had the homemade PAPPARDELLE RUSTICA, which was recommended by our server. My spouse had spaghetti and meatballs. The food is very tasty and plated beautifully. I had the apple crisp, which is lovely, but more or a buckle than a crisp. That's my only quibble. We had a really lovely evening and I will go back. read more

This was a nice casual Italian place. We were seated in the back room upstairs and that was far more intimate and quiet than the busy front. It was about half full at max but didn't feel deserted. I liked the exposed brick decor. We had the cacio e pepe spaghetti and the Land and Sea pasta (Mushroom and Shrimp). I liked the variety of mushrooms in there although I have to say that the cacio e pepe was superior. I tried their mocktail margarita and I was happy with the slight jalapeno kick. It was all simple and casual but everything went right, servers were prompt and polite, nothing went wrong. Would go back! read more

Great spot for a drink and a plate of pasta! Vibe: SUPER CUTE inside and outside. The patio was perfect for enjoying the warm weather and was covered just incase it rained. The inside was even cuter!! Lots of lights, vines and a moon projected on the wall. I felt like I was in nature and very welcomed. Service: it was also very good! Very attentive and was opened to our questions. Food and drinks: AMAZING espresso martinis. Mic drop. I could have 3 of those. For food, we got a side of sourdough that came with a tomato dipping sauce (so yum and nice surprise), the crispy Brussels (in the sides), meatballs (appetizer), the cacio e Pepe and the cavatelli with pesto and chorizo. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the Brussels were SO FRICKEN GOOD. The meatballs were also so moist and full of flavor...especially with their super umami tomato sauce. The cacio e Pepe was my favorite, very creamy and decadent without being too heavy. The cavatelli is where I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5. The pasta was cooked well, but the dish was lacking some salt. However, when we added parm cheese, it was perfect. Also, we were slightly disappointed that it was shaved chorizo and not pieces. Maybe they can update the name so it doesn't mislead people. Would come back to try other pastas soon!!! read more

We went on a whim late to grab dinner, and they did not disappoint. It was close to closing, so we were happy to sit at the bar. The food was delicious. I had the shrimp & polenta as a starter and it was delicious- my only problem was the lack of saffron gravy...mine had next to none. For my main, I had the crab ravioli, and it was 10 outta 10 across the board. Excellent. O also shared the Arugula & Pear salad with my cousin and it was DELICIOUS! For dessert I had the apple Crisp and it wasn't good at all, I think the apples should've been peeled, the skin made it tart and not delicious. Overall, the service was great, friendly staff and great location, the vibe was chill but upscale simultaneously. I definitely recommend going. read more

First time here. The staff are very pleasant and welcoming. Since the weather was nice we were able to sit outside. We had the meatballs appetizer... very good. We were in a short ribs mood so we ordered the short ribs and a double burger which was really short rib on a bun. Both were delicious. If you're in the area, definitely check them out. read more

Luna is a delightful gem in Jersey City! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for a casual meal or a special date night. I tried their happy hour meatballs that were $12 and the truffle fries that were $8 and both were super good. The staff is friendly and Can't wait to go back. read more

Short rib raviolis were very tasty although could have been warmer. Apple crisp à la mode was delicious too.

Definitely recommend!! Very nice and laid back-cozy environment. The food was surprisingly a lot better than what I had expected, as, it was my first time here and by coincidence bc my kids had practice nearby and happened to just stop by for a quick bite. Their house salad is absolutely amazing and so tasty!! Very friendly staff and their drinks are very good too! Their food in general was definitely very flavorful. They are not so big in portions but it's just the right amount. Prices were reasonable. Parking is not so convenient but w patience you will find! read more

Just a great place to hang for an easy dinner. Love that is mostly locals. Gabriel behind the bar is wonderful. Seems to know everyone and if he doesn't he will by the time you leave. Talked to him about my swallowing issues, and as great as the calamari is he said the 1/2 off mussels would be perfect. Well yeah!! They were!! Nicholas is good to just converse with. As a lone traveler I told him I like to sit away from "taking up space" and he related to that right away. Even thanked me for doing what I do. Really? Too nice. Luna is a must visit spot in Jersey City. Hope you have Gabriel when you are here. If you are at a table Nicholas is great at what he does and makes a business traveler feel comfortable. Luna has it all - Classy brunch, boozy brunch, tasty italian dinner, happy hour, mussel deals, you name it. The decor is great, seems to be an old bank vault in the back, lots of floral decor, lights, etc. Even a top section with tables for two, very cute. Sausage Egg n Cheese - WOW. The picture on the website's menu made me unsure about ordering this one, but definitely do not regret ordering (the menu's picture doesn't do it justice)! This is a sausage egg and cheese sandwich, where the sandwich bread is french toast, served with syrup and potatoes. The sausage (from dark pines I believe) is flavorful and delicious. They do NOT skimp out on cheese - You get a really nice cheese pull! Definitely a great dish if you want a little bit of everything for your brunch dish - Eat with a fork and knife!! Espresso Martini - The hype is real here; Definitely the best espresso martini I've had around here. The hint of vanilla really adds to it! read more

My husband and I went to Luna to celebrate my birthday which is at the end of November. The restaurant itself is very cute, with little touches of the moon as the name would imply, but at this time they had decorated for the holidays which really amped up the vibes! I am a sucker for some good holiday lighting and decor. The experience didn't stop at the decor, the food was great. We shared a beef empanada appetizer. The beef was seasoned really well so the empanada could have definitely been eaten on its own, but the accompanying sauce took it to the next level! We had a few choices for dinner that we couldn't decide on so we decided to order two of them and split them, this way we could try a bit of each. My husband ordered the New York Steak which was phenomenal. The menu states it is rubbed in a "hot and sweet" seasoning blend, and it really packed a punch of flavor! I enjoyed it very much and it was my favorite taste of the night, reminiscent of a Korean bbq sweet heat but different. No steak sauce needed, even for my husband who is notorious for asking for steak sauce even at the finest steakhouses. I was skeptical about the diced potato peppers and onions that it came with but they were delicious as well and complimented the steak. My order was the Rigatoni Zingara, they accommodated me by omitting the olives and this was a unique and flavorful pasta. I love that the pasta was fresh, a treat that isn't as common as it should be, and the sauce wasn't overly creamy so you could really enjoy all the flavors put into the dish. We had a great night and our stomachs were pleasantly full. Our waitress and the hostess were very friendly and attentive. We do not get date night often without our kiddo so we appreciated this home run! read more

We were on our way back from an event we attended in Jersey, and as we were heading back to New York, we decided to grab something to eat before crossing over. Everywhere we stopped had a pretty long wait, but then we found Luna--and there was no wait at all. We were wearing hats and were asked to remove them in order to be seated in the dining area, which wasn't a big deal to us, so we took them off. The place is small and cute downstairs. It looked like there was an upstairs area too, but we didn't check it out. After we were seated, the waiter came by, handed us menus, and took our drink orders. We got some waters and a beer. After that, it became a little difficult to get the waiter's attention whenever we needed something. Eventually, he came back to take our order. We both went with the double cheeseburgers--one with no onion. The prices were reasonable and seemed fair for the type of food and the nice atmosphere. All the tables were taken, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. When our food came out, it looked delicious. The person who brought it over--I think he was the manager--said, "Here are the double cheeseburgers, no onion." I asked, "Do both have no onion?" and he said yes. I let him know that only one was supposed to be without onion. He quickly corrected the mistake and even asked if I'd like the onions grilled. He took it back and returned with the fixed order. We started eating, and wow--the burgers were juicy and really delicious. As I was eating, I ran out of beer and was almost out of water--same with my friend. It took a while to flag down the waiter to get refills and to ask for ketchup (there's none on the tables). It was also a bit of a wait to get the check and close out--we had to keep trying to get the waiter's attention. Overall, though, we really enjoyed this little spot and would definitely come back if we're in the area again. We left full and satisfied. read more

This place is absolutely beautiful inside with great vibes. It has both a cozy and intimate vibe to it. They have plenty of outdoor seating as well. Went here with a friend after the Water Lantern Festival. Here are my thoughts... Atmosphere - sat in outdoor seating area, comfy seats Decor: fresh white flowers lining the wooden outdoor area, with ambient table lighting Music: none outside Food: Mussels (the white wine sauce was lacking flavor, the bread was the best thing about it), Penne Vodka (needed more salt and a dash of pepper), Rigatoni Zingara (same issue with Penne Vodka) Drinks: wine- standard Chianti; we also asked for water and it was served in a plastic cup which we thought was a bit odd Service - super friendly, attentive Good for - quick bite None of the food really stood out as amazing. Felt like each dish was missing something. We had to ask for all the spices we could in order to doctor our meals. All in all it was just okay. read more

Luna provides good food, a lovely ambiance and an excellent staff that is pleasant and very helpful.

I got takeout from here, and everything was delicious. Most importantly, they were able to make everything in our order gluten-free, which was important for our party. The Bolognese was extremely delicious. My only caveat is that it is quite expensive for pasta - each entree ended up being close to $30+ read more

Drinks were flavorful and strong. Cacio e pepe was weirdly watery, bland, and overcooked. Rigatoni was also soft, definitely not al dente. Lava cake didn't have lava in the middle but instead had chocolate poured around it? Finally, the service was poor, but then the server deliberately "guided" (watched) us through paying our check so we had to give a 20% tip and so he could give himself 5 stars. He provided virtually no service, and we had to wave him down whenever we needed anything. We were also a little annoyed that after we sat down, the hostess told us no hats were allowed even though we saw three people adjacent to us wearing beanies. It's not that fancy a place to warrant an aggressive "no hat" rule. Overall disappointing, do not come here expecting good pasta. read more
