    Cacio e Pepe

This was a nice casual Italian place. We were seated in the back room upstairs and that was far more intimate and quiet than the busy front. It was about half full at max but didn't feel deserted. I liked the exposed brick decor. We had the cacio e pepe spaghetti and the Land and Sea pasta (Mushroom and Shrimp). I liked the variety of mushrooms in there although I have to say that the cacio e pepe was superior. I tried their mocktail margarita and I was happy with the slight jalapeno kick. It was all simple and casual but everything went right, servers were prompt and polite, nothing went wrong. Would go back!

Luna is a delightful gem in Jersey City! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for a casual meal or a special date night. I tried their happy hour meatballs that were $12 and the truffle fries that were $8 and both were super good. The staff is friendly and Can't wait to go back.

Fantastic service, the waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, and very attentive. The food was delicious. I had mixed vegetables and a crab cake. Dessert was very good too, we had the churro waffle dulce de leche. It's a nice restaurant with a good vibe. Overall a wonderful experience.

My husband and I went to Luna to celebrate my birthday which is at the end of November. The restaurant itself is very cute, with little touches of the moon as the name would imply, but at this time they had decorated for the holidays which really amped up the vibes! I am a sucker for some good holiday lighting and decor. The experience didn't stop at the decor, the food was great. We shared a beef empanada appetizer. The beef was seasoned really well so the empanada could have definitely been eaten on its own, but the accompanying sauce took it to the next level! We had a few choices for dinner that we couldn't decide on so we decided to order two of them and split them, this way we could try a bit of each. My husband ordered the New York Steak which was phenomenal. The menu states it is rubbed in a "hot and sweet" seasoning blend, and it really packed a punch of flavor! I enjoyed it very much and it was my favorite taste of the night, reminiscent of a Korean bbq sweet heat but different. No steak sauce needed, even for my husband who is notorious for asking for steak sauce even at the finest steakhouses. I was skeptical about the diced potato peppers and onions that it came with but they were delicious as well and complimented the steak. My order was the Rigatoni Zingara, they accommodated me by omitting the olives and this was a unique and flavorful pasta. I love that the pasta was fresh, a treat that isn't as common as it should be, and the sauce wasn't overly creamy so you could really enjoy all the flavors put into the dish. We had a great night and our stomachs were pleasantly full. Our waitress and the hostess were very friendly and attentive. We do not get date night often without our kiddo so we appreciated this home run!

Came as part of a food tour, and loved the pasta! This is a small business in downtown Jersey City serving delicious pastas - the meatballs and the bolognese were my favorites. I was also pleasantly surprised that they had holiday cocktails and the cocktails were strong! Very cute and service was good.

Everything was great! I got the new pear ravioli which was so good. A great blend of sweet and savory. My fiancé got the seafood fettuccini which he enjoyed as well. We also split the arancini and coconut shrimp for appetizers and they were both unique and delicious.

Luna has it all - Classy brunch, boozy brunch, tasty italian dinner, happy hour, mussel deals, you name it. The decor is great, seems to be an old bank vault in the back, lots of floral decor, lights, etc. Even a top section with tables for two, very cute. Sausage Egg n Cheese - WOW. The picture on the website's menu made me unsure about ordering this one, but definitely do not regret ordering (the menu's picture doesn't do it justice)! This is a sausage egg and cheese sandwich, where the sandwich bread is french toast, served with syrup and potatoes. The sausage (from dark pines I believe) is flavorful and delicious. They do NOT skimp out on cheese - You get a really nice cheese pull! Definitely a great dish if you want a little bit of everything for your brunch dish - Eat with a fork and knife!! Espresso Martini - The hype is real here; Definitely the best espresso martini I've had around here. The hint of vanilla really adds to it!

We were on our way back from an event we attended in Jersey, and as we were heading back to New York, we decided to grab something to eat before crossing over. Everywhere we stopped had a pretty long wait, but then we found Luna--and there was no wait at all. We were wearing hats and were asked to remove them in order to be seated in the dining area, which wasn't a big deal to us, so we took them off. The place is small and cute downstairs. It looked like there was an upstairs area too, but we didn't check it out. After we were seated, the waiter came by, handed us menus, and took our drink orders. We got some waters and a beer. After that, it became a little difficult to get the waiter's attention whenever we needed something. Eventually, he came back to take our order. We both went with the double cheeseburgers--one with no onion. The prices were reasonable and seemed fair for the type of food and the nice atmosphere. All the tables were taken, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. When our food came out, it looked delicious. The person who brought it over--I think he was the manager--said, "Here are the double cheeseburgers, no onion." I asked, "Do both have no onion?" and he said yes. I let him know that only one was supposed to be without onion. He quickly corrected the mistake and even asked if I'd like the onions grilled. He took it back and returned with the fixed order. We started eating, and wow--the burgers were juicy and really delicious. As I was eating, I ran out of beer and was almost out of water--same with my friend. It took a while to flag down the waiter to get refills and to ask for ketchup (there's none on the tables). It was also a bit of a wait to get the check and close out--we had to keep trying to get the waiter's attention. Overall, though, we really enjoyed this little spot and would definitely come back if we're in the area again. We left full and satisfied.

Sat at the bar with my friend to catch up with each other. Love the chill vibes here and the espressos were up to par! Would definitely visit again.

Not a bad spot. Service was great. Easy to get a table. Food wasn't bad. Pappardelle was very good. Mountain and sea pasta was just Marsala sauce with shrimp. Meatballs were okay. This place was overall good.

Luna is a solid Italian restaurant in Jersey City. The restaurant is clean and has a beautiful indoor and outdoor setup. Inside, you will find string lights and a view of the moon while you eat. It's the perfect spot for a date night or get together with friends. I loved this special added touch of the moon! The food is fresh and the wait staff is quite accommodating. I enjoyed my pappardelle pasta with shrimp and vegetables. If you're in the Jersey City area, check this Italian spot out!

Does this restaurant have gluten free pasta substitutes?

Yes, we have Gluten Free pasta that can be substituted for any of our home made pasta. There is a fee for the substitution.

Will you have music on Friday, May 26th? Do you need to make reservations?

They don't have live music, but there is music. I also do recommend making a reservation, especially for a weekend.

    Can you accommodate 100 guests?

That would be considered a total buyout. You would have to speak to a party coordinator at lunajcparty@gmail.com

Is this place good for groups?

Depends on how big your group is, but I would say, judging from the size of the restaurant (has big tables and two floor) it is a good place groups (4-6 people).

While I can't comment on the wine list personally, I know they are well-known for their extensive selection. After placing our order, we were delivered the sesame pizza bianca, which is a complimentary starter bread with dinner. The bread was a nice size and light and airy with a perfect crust and a delicious, crusty sesame seed bottom. The prawns were our starter and came three to a dish. They were sizable, though since they are served with the head and tail, there isn't a ton of meat on them. That said, they were flavorful and juicy with a nice sauce and just the right amount of spice that didn't overwhelm the fish. The snowdance chicken was the star of the show! It was incredibly juicy and tender with perfectly prepared skin, so I was happy to learn they keep this on the menu year-round. It was topped with some spinach that was solid, though nothing special. We also ordered a side of mushrooms which came with a creamy sauce and fish roe intended to be mixed at the table. The roe wasn't fishy at all but added a great element of umami to the flavorful, well-textured mushrooms. Overall, the service was very professional, though I thought the pacing could have been improved as the dishes came out a bit slowly. I would also recommend ordering at least two dishes per person, as the three plates we shared between two people felt like just a touch too little food. I'm already looking forward to going back--I'd try the winter chicories salad or the veal sweetbreads next time, but I'm open to exploring everything since the quality is so high. I noticed a side dish listed on their online menu that wasn't actually offered in person, so it might be worth double-checking if you have your heart set on a specific item.

I made reservations after seeing their special hot chocolate on social media and had a wonderful meal! Started off with the hiramasa which was fresh and went deliciously well with the citrus-y and sweet cara cara orange, as well as the aji peppers! The castelfranco chickory salad was fresh, crunchy, slightly creamy and slightly tangy - basically everything you need in an appetizing salad! Their house sesame bread was fluffy and chewy with a good amount of sesame flavor without having too many seeds. For mains, the farfelle was very interesting and tasty! The pasta was al dente and the sauce was addicting! At first I was wondering if it would resemble a nut butter, but it was creamy with very prominent walnut flavors and interesting texture (perhaps from the blended walnut skin component?). The addition of burrata and other cheeses was perfect for a cheese-lover like me. The pork chop was flavorful, well-seasoned, and juicy. The leek and cabbage mixture soaked up all the sauce and I wish there was more! Their special hot chocolate with an espresso martini marshmallow was fire!!!! Hot chocolate was decadent, not too thick, and not too sweet. The toasted marshmallow melted quickly but definitely had coffee and alcohol flavors. The amount per serving doesn't appear a lot but appropriate considering how rich it is. The mascarpone dessert had a great balance of fluffy cream, extremely crispy phyllo, and crunchy nuts with a touch of chocolate and vanilla! For drinks, I was really curious about the bi lemongrass but they ran out. Staff recommended the semiplume, which felt like a beer, tea, and sparkling wine all at once! Loved the floral aroma and bitter tea notes. My partner's cocktails were also well executed. Staff were nice and friendly. We got seats right by the kitchen so staff often checked in with us, including the chef!! Vibes were intimate with the dim lighting and minimalist decor. Definitely want to come back to check out their chicken and other dishes!!
