Later post - We came to Amanda's for a snowy brunch and it was the perfect cozy escape. The fireplace was going, adding to the warm and inviting vibe to the space. We sat at the bar and the bartender was great. He was so knowledgeable and genuinely excited to help me try something new. I ended up with an Empress gin cocktail that was as beautiful as it was delicious, and the breakfast burger was cooked perfectly - and I'm really picky! Definitely a spot I would come back to for a relaxed and flavorful brunch.

Booked the Library Room for my city hall wedding celebration dinner and it was the BEST decision. The restaurant is beautiful! The Library room is elegant and beautiful for a special occasion. The staff was lovely and super attentive. We were not rushed out at the end of our reservation which I really appreciated. Lastly the food was divine!!! The polenta dish was surprisingly a favorite at the table. The short ribs were like butter and also a hit! My guests were so impressed. My husband and I will definitely be going back for a date night in hoboken. Overall a great spot with yummy food.

Me and my friends (group of 4) went here for lunch. We ordered 2 smoked salmon egg benedict, 1 steak and eggs, and 1 spinach omelette. The smoked salmon egg benedict was absolutely delightful. The pouched egg was cooked perfectly, not overcooked and not too running. The portion size was just about right. All 4 of us finished our meal and felt full (but not too full). The service was friendly and the ambiance was relaxing. Note that you probably need to make a reservation, and they charge extra for credit card (but no extra fee for debit card)

I loved this place so much! I recently took a trip to Argentina and I felt like I was back there as soon as I stepped in. The food was phenomenal and so were the drinks. Hoping to return again for dinner in the near future!

One word. Exceptional! Booked for a bridal shower brunch for 20 and Juliet made this remote planning from Charleston, SC nearly effortless. She and her husband Jose, servers Santi and Isabella, were stealth-like and lovely to deal with, kind, helpful in every way. The food was delicious, good variety of choices, spotless venue and perfect in every way for our party. The table settings, linens, gleaming floors. Just beautiful. Run to this gem of a place. Thank you, Juliet. With highest regards, JM

A return to this location confirms it is a great spot for a very nice meal. Friendly attentive service and fantastic food. While our meal was limited to a few items all were great. The meatballs, empanadas and linguine with shrimp are all packed with flavor with the pasta cooked just right. We sat outside, enjoying a last blast of summer for the season. The inside ambiance is casual with live music to boot! The Aperol spritz is made just right. Overall we thoroughly enjiyed our meal. Tha k you and we'll be back!

Frankly, I am saddened to post a review of Amanda's with a 2 Star rating. My wife and I, combined with extended family members, have been patronizing Amanda's for years and have now found it's operation to be sub-par. Last evening's expeience on Valentine's Day marked the turning point in my decision to dine at alternate restaurants if, in fact, our travels take us to the Hoboken area. Again, I never would have thought of posting a negatve review for Amanda's given the wonderful memories of this establishment. Residing near the Montclair area, I gave us approx 3/4 of an hour to make our 7PM reservation at Amanda's using my private vehicle. All was going well until we encountered heavy congestion prior to the turn off into Hoboken. This did not surprise us yet we wanted to extend the courtesy to the restaurant to avoid being charged for a late arrival. We began calling Amanda's from the car which is where my disappointment began. Using the car's auto dialing and speaker system, we could hear it ringing and we could hear the line being picked up. However, after we identified ourselves, the call was abrubtly dropped. We called back and then found that a pre-recorded message responded to our call indicating that credit cards would not be accepted that evening due to a system problem. At that juncture, the call was dropped on their end once again. Despite the heavy traffic, I managed to arrive in front of the restaurant by 7PM. Parking was not to be found along the entire length of Washington St until we stopped in front of Amanda's! Unbelievably, one spot had opened up at which time I backed into it as quickly as I could; we were on time for our dinner reservation! Entering the restaurant, we politely waited in a short line for the hostess to recognize us. Once she did, I handed her our printed reservation at which time she entered it into her "system". With both of our coats in hand, we were shown to our table. (Our coats were still on my lap at this time. I asked staff to take our coats which was done with receipts given to us. Typically, guests coats are taken at the podium to avoid having to carry them into the dining room.) Now that we were seated, we both needed a drink from the bar. Numerous "servers" hustled back and forth behind us yet no one stopped to take our drink order or to acknowledge our presence. I finally got the attention of one of the servers and mentioned that we would like to order a drink from the bar. Our drink order was taken at that time. Once we were served our drinks, a significant about of time had passed yet we had not been approached by any of the very young "servers" seen hustling about the dining room areas to take our food orders. At this time, it became very clear that management had not trained the staff properly as one could see the chaos occurring right before our eyes. Although the keyboard musician was very good at the piano, it did little to distract us from the lack of professional service and calm that Amanda's had always been known for. With regard to our food order, for Starters, my wife opted for the Focaccia, the Ceasar Salad for me. Our Mains, The Short Ribs for my wife, the Sirloin Steak for me. My salad was quite good. My wife's short ribs appeared good. I must say that my sirloin steak was grilled perfectly. However, it was not served with any complementatry vegetables or starches whatsoever and looked quite bare on the plate all by itself. Frankly, I was very disappointed when it was presented to me. It should be noted that the restaurant was full to capacity with tables placed somewhat close to each other. We had always perceived Amanda's to offer an intimate and romantic vibe yet on this particular evening, that ambiance was not to be had, especially noted on Valentine's Day. Historically, I would have stayed quite longer following dinner yet given the dramatic changes that are now seen at Amanda's, I wanted very much to leave. Getting our check would be yet another annoying chapter to this dining experience. I mentioned that I would be paying in cash. I was presented, instead, with a torn off sheet of paper with hand-printed menu items. (A photo of that "check" is attached.) I found this procedure to be quite amateurish and inconsistent with Amanda's past operational standards. I proof-read the "check" and asked the server to sign and date it, indicating it PAID. He did not do that and asked me to keep the piece of paper instead! Hopefully, Amanda's new Ownership and Management will read this review and endeavor to focus on hiring service professionals who have the abilty to project what Amanda's represents. Clearly, we did not experience that on this particular evening. What became of the ORIGINAL Amanda's??

I visited Amanda's for brunch this past Sunday. The last time I went to Amanda's was for Restaurant Week dinner several years ago, so I was excited to try it again. We had a reservation for 1:30 pm but luckily they were very accommodating and were able to shift it to 2 pm since my friend was running late. There were some open tables so I guess they weren't totally full for brunch. Amanda's has a very nice atmosphere inside and the service was very friendly from start to finish. I tried one of their special brunch cocktails - the guava belinni and it was very tasty. For our meals, I had the banana pancakes with a side of sausage. The dish came with 3 large pancakes; they were a little well done but still tasty. They are on the sweeter side with the dulce de leche cream. The sausage was tasty but kind of pricy - it was $8 for one medium sized piece halved. My friends each ordered eggs benedicts dishes - the smoked salmon special and the regular dish. We all enjoyed our meals. We ended up staying well after we were done to chit chat and they were very kind and did not rush us out. I will look to make a dinner reservation there sometime soon.

Great patio and for sure good for girl power pics.

Just the right amount of elegance and simplicity for my friend's bridal shower, Amanda's is perfect. My steak and eggs were perfectly cooked, so to say the least food gets a 10! Amanda's staff were attentive and service moved flawlessly! ! In the heart of Hoboken's downtown and fast pace nightlife, Amanda's is a breath of fresh air.

Eggs Benedict with mushrooms. Burger with bacon and fried egg.

Best eggs Benny I have ever had, seriously!! I was so grateful they were willing to swap the meat for mushrooms because I would have hated to miss out on this dish. Service was great and very friendly and accommodating. The place is huge and has a more elegant feel, which isn't usually my go to, but it was beautiful with interesting art.

    Salmon, delicious!!

My boyfriend and I stopped in to Amanda's last night for dinner. We sat at the bar. It was a couple min after 9:30 and we didn't realize the kitchen closes at 9:30. Our bartender Josh informed us but said he would see if they would still make us dinner since it was 9:38. And they said yes! We are so grateful for the staff at Amanda's! Josh was friendly, patient, and attentive. We started with wine and beer. We ordered the soup of the day, the salmon (comes with spinach rice), mussels, and side of mushrooms. Everything came out quick and was hot. Timed perfectly. The salmon was moist and flavorful. The sauce was delicious and the spinach rice was good too. 9/10 The mussels were delicious. The marinara, delicious. Definitely recommend. 10/10 The mushrooms were good. Not much seasoning. 7/10 The soup was very good! I loved the broth. Very flavorful. Had sausage but I can't remember what it was. 9/10 Service was superb! We will come back and try the chicken thighs and something else. :) A little pricey but it's good quality and good service.

The space was not large, but they really made the most of it, offering a decent number of tables with reasonable space between them. My friend and I were quickly seated and immediately greeted by a charming server that opened our bottle of wine (it's BYO) and offered us still or sparkling water. I had read in other reviews that you had to pay for water, so I was not surprised by the $6 bottle of Saratoga that wound up on our bill. In addition to our engaging server and the happening atmosphere, the food was similarly incredible. We decided to order a load of things to share, so that we could try a greater variety. We started with two appetizers that were seasonal Spring additions to the menu. The Hamachi Crudo included five thickly-sliced, tender pieces of Japanese yellowtail sitting in a broth of rhubarb aguachile and topped with white strawberries and basil seeds. It was an unique blend that we would not have expected to work, but boy was it delicious! The sweet toppings infused a load of flavor into an otherwise mild fish. We also enjoyed the Fava-mole, a creamy puree of fava beans studded with balls of hand-pulled mozzarella and pea tendrils, all drizzled with zesty ramp oil. I had not been sure what to expect from the dish, but it offered fresh, bright garden flavors. We also decided to share a pasta course and an entree. The Fettuccini was tossed with spring truffles and maitakes in a light, yet heavily aromatic, wild mushroom cream sauce. It was one of the best dishes I had had in quite some time. Then, as we were waiting on our seafood entree, we received a second pasta, courtesy of the Chef. I had mentioned that I had heard rave reviews about Flour from a server at Heirloom Kitchen, a top NJ restaurant. Apparently, our waiter had let the Chef know about that glowing praise, and the kitchen further verified that positivity with the generous gesture. In fact, they wound up sending out the Linguine with white clam sauce, razor clams, and wild ramps, the other dish about which I had been most curious anyway. Well, it was another winner! It was garlicky, herbaceous, and rich with flavors of the sea. Speaking of seafood, we next received the Branzino 'Bahn mi', a perfectly cooked piece of Mediterranean sea bass with Vietnamese sausage and pickled vegetables. The branzino's crispy skin and flaky, moist interior were excellent, and we loved all of the other smoky and briny flavors on the plate. After all of that excellent food, we would have loved to try one of their appealing desserts, but we were just too full. Between the ambiance, welcoming vibe, and delicious cuisine, our Flour experience was simply divine! It has now became one of my favorite restaurants in the area, and I cannot wait to try their pizza at some point as well.

They were both delicious but I'd go back just for the salad alone, had a nice kick and sooo much cheese on top, YUM! Main plates: we shared 4 diff pastas. The Mexican street corn, spicy rigatoni, cavatelli, and fettuccini. They were equally good but my favorite was hands down the fettuccini and rigatoni. Everything was so creamy and well seasoned. The ambiance: low moody lighting. Cool plates and attentive and kind service. I'd def recommend for date night with your lover our group of friends.

Although there is a beautiful outdoor rooftop bar, I dined in the main dining area because the menu options are different. Braised Short Ribs: The tender, juicy meat was smothered in red wine sauce. The mashed potatoes and carrots were the backbone to this plate (Ironically, there wasn't a bone with this entree.) Lava Cake: Although it is in the shape of a muffin, it still has the taste of a warm chocolate cake. It blends well with vanilla ice cream. This dessert would have been better if the ice cream was firmer instead of melty. Although the blueberries were a nice decorative touch, this type of fruit did not go well with the dessert. Overall, the meal was pretty good and when the weather gets warmer I am really looking forward to dining on the upper level to get breathtaking views of the city while sipping cocktails. #metropolis #metropolishoboken #hobokennj #rooftopbar #lavacake #braisedshortribs #downtownhoboken

Well - the tables were soo close together that I felt like holding hands with the couple next to us and eventually - I could smell their farts. And no - I did not fart; it was not me. Fair warning - prepare for an intimate dining experience with your fellow connoisseurs. Have fun. Happy Farting.

There was only one other family dining, and the space stayed empty the entire time. The service was genuinely great. Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, and a really cute, cozy space. I especially loved the Christmas décor and overall vibe--it felt warm and inviting. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the prices. The house salad was $13 and honestly one of the most basic, smallest, and most boring salads I've ever had--very underwhelming for the cost. We also ordered quesadillas, a cheeseburger with fries, and grilled cheese with tomato soup. My son enjoyed the burger and fries, and the quesadillas were flavorful, generously filled with chicken and veggies, and came with sour cream, pico, and guac. The tomato soup was tasty, while the grilled cheese was just okay. One small but appreciated detail: canned soda. Cold, crisp, and not flat which is always a win. Lunch for 3 came in just under $100, which felt high given what we received. One frustration was being seated in a tight corner right next to the kitchen even though the dining room was completely empty. We were so close I could literally see into the kitchen and count items on the shelves. On top of that, the hostess repeatedly walked by calling out "corner," which became distracting and honestly a bit irritating. Overall, I liked the vibe, but the food-to-price ratio missed the mark for me. It wasn't bad--just alright.

Guests were asked to place the full order upfront, allowing the kitchen to control pacing. This resulted in smooth ticket firing and appropriate spacing between dishes, creating intervals to enjoy drinks without feeling rushed or delayed. Hospitality: Service was attentive and organized. My first visit was for my birthday a few years ago where we ordered a steak dish that was so incredibly fatty that it was inedible. We told our server and they offered to bring us out another, which was also still SO fatty. The experience left a bitter taste in our mouths but we were comped the steak and offered a $100 gift card to use on a future visit. We were in no rush to return and it took almost a year for us to visit again. On this visit I don't recall anything being bad but nothing stood out. Our third and fourth visits ended up being yesterday (Valentine's Day) for last minute brunch and dinner reservations. We were appreciative that they were able to squeeze us in last minute. We weren't too keen on a pre fixe menu, but everywhere appears to have a set menu on the holiday. I ordered the shakshuka which lacked depth of flavor and was very disappointing. Probably the worst shakshuka I've ever had unfortunately. The salad and bread that came with it were both good. My husband ordered the steak sandwich (the other 2 entrees he wanted to try were both sold out). The sandwich was very flavorful but needed to be served on a crustier bread. The skillet pancake had good flavor but was so incredibly dense and could've used more bananas. Valentine's dinner was the straw that broke the camel's back. Out of everything that was offered, the only dish worth mentioning was the lobster pasta. It was spicy, pasta cooked al dente, and a fair amount of lobster chunks. We received our salad promptly but our pasta second course came out before the seafood starter course. We brought it to our server's attention and it still took a long time to receive it. Then we had another long wait for our main course. The steak was okay, mashed potatoes were good, but the peppercorn sauce absolutely ruined the meal. There were too many peppercorns in every bite. Also the Nutella flan they offered for dessert was a far cry from a flan. It wasn't good. I would've preferred their regular desserts as an offering. Service was very lackluster. Overall, I'm very disappointed. I really wanted to love antique given that it has been voted best restaurant in Hoboken, but the service and food are both subpar.

The service was still professional and friendly, but the food left something to be desired. Though it was a Thursday evening, the weather was not great, so it was not overly surprising that the restaurant was not very crowded. Because of that fact, the gracious hostess offered us our choice of a few different tables, from a larger booth to a two-top near the window. We opted for the booth that would give us a chance to look out into the restaurant AND to still see the Manhattan skyline. We decided to order some drinks, and I opted for an Espresso Martini, which was not typically something I would have gotten before dessert, but I wanted the extra caffeine! Plus, their version included a caramel cold foam, which enticingly made it extra creamy and delicious. In fact, it was definitely one of the best espresso martinis I had ever had. We were deciding to skip any starters, so we asked for some bread while we waited for our entrees. The plate of focaccia was decent and hit the spot, but we were charged $2 for it, which was not a big deal but also not appreciated. For my entree, I went with the Lobster Bouillabaisse. The broth was flavorful, but there was not much of it. In fact, the dish came with three sweet rolls to dip into the soup, but I could have lived with less given the limited amount of liquid in the bowl. The included blue prawns were good, but the Hokkaido scallops and lobster were chewy. There was also supposed to jumbo lump crab, which seemed to have been replaced by gritty clams. There were also leeks and Yukon potatoes that were sliced in small cylinders and looked fairly similar to each other. The potatoes were bland, cold, and under-cooked. Overall, it was not very impressive for $48. My companion's Prime Filet Mignon was of an unknown size on the menu, but arrived looking smaller than the typical 8-ounces. It was also over-cooked. He did like his mashed potatoes, though. For dessert, we decided to get the Apple and Pear Bread Pudding again, since that had been excellent last time and would hopefully be a redeeming feature of the meal, which it was. The sweet, caramelized brioche had been infused with cubes of fruit, baked, and drizzled with a sea salt caramel. We replaced the designated companion creme fraiche gelato with a scoop of passion fruit sorbet, which was less of an appropriate pairing, but more of an appealing variety to us. While Drift truly offered a stunning space with incredible service, they really could improve their culinary preparations.
