Grilled Octopus
Bruna S.

Great place, cool ambience, delicious food and friendly staff!!! Its already a good combo but to make it better I just learned that Sundays they have kind of happy hour menu, loved it!!! Been there a couple times when they open an this last visit just reminded me that I should go more often!

Short Rib Gnocchi

I came here to have a nice weeknight dinner by myself. Madame came highly recommended, plus the short rib gnocchi sounded like something up my alley. I made the trip over and was given a spot at the bar. The atmosphere is very lively and the staff was very kind. My dinner and wine came out pretty quickly. I enjoyed the flavor of the short rib sauce , but the gnocchi texture itself was a little too "cloud-like" for me. Just a personal preference. I'd like to come back and try a different dish one day.

We started with cocktails, oysters, and mussels. Later, we ordered grilled octopus and burgers as well, followed by another round of Old Fashioneds and a crème brûlée for dessert. Every single bite wowed us. Everything exceeded our expectations. The octopus was incredibly tender--like butter--and the burger was honestly one of the best we've had in years. We'd definitely love to come back. Lastly, the bartenders and staff were top-notch--super friendly and welcoming!

What an enjoyable (if loud ala booming music) little bistro find. We came in for a Friday evening meal, and with a prior reservation we were seated immediately. Every member of the staff was kind, efficient and pleasant despite the bustle. Loved the "see no evil; speak no evil" classics wall art! My Escargot was excellent! Highly recommend the Coconut Shrimp as well - hot and crispy! I thought the best of the mocktails was the Phony Negroni this evening- beautiful slightly bitter smoke flavors abound! The unexpectedly BEST dessert was the Chocolat Pot de Crème - so unusually done and bursting with flavor! Reasonably priced and fun!

Duck breast with parsnip puree

07/20/2025 It's almost like walking into a speakeasy... Down the stairs into the dark bar/restaurant... but no secret panel or book to tug on. We started with their Moules and frites! Ok, so I have always said (in my opinion) that McDonalds has the best fries. Well, now... Madame's fries blew away McD's fries! Normally I try to stay away from 'deep fried' foods, but I couldn't stop eating these perfectly seasoned skinny fries. SOOOO good! The short rib Gnocchi (confit tomato, smoked ricotta and herbs) was enjoyed by 3 of us. Lots of gnocchi as well as short rib meat. Excellent sauce. My sister in law decided to go with the duck breast (parsnip puree, shaved Brussel sprouts and pomegranate) which she enjoyed very much. A little Espresso and dessert made for a wonderful evening with great service. Oh! Great cocktails made for you by some seriously talented bartenders.

Bartenders were super friendly! They made some great drinks. I went with a fellow Yelper! We had an awesome time. The guy bartender I think his name started with an "O". We will definitely be back to try entrees of their menu!

THIS PLACE WAS A KNOCKOUT!!!! Oh my gooodness I loved every second of it. The waitress Ashley genuinely was the most professional and knowledgeable waitress I've ever had. The ambiance was chic and clean. The food and drinks were 10/10 No notes!

Such a cute spot with great cocktails. The bread service and escargot are a must order. Wait staff were friendly.

Wonderful service! And Foie Gras, and live music, just a great place to meet friends. Eat delicious and unique food, and hear fabulous music. LOVE MADAME. Enchante and Merci

I went yesterday with my friend for both of our birthday. Whatever we tried to order they said they are out of ingredients even they just opened. I think after escargot we both had diarrhea right away in restaurants. I guess maybe dont go sunday?

Short Rib Gnocchi

Amazing short rib gnocchi! Gnocchi had a light fluffy texture which paired great with the bold flavors of the sauce!

Does anybody know what's on the second floor at 7 and 9pm on Saturdays?

I believe you're actually referring to white eagle hall which is a music venue On Thursday evenings there's live music…

Do I need a reservation for brunch?

No you don't, you can just walk in. But a reservation helps if they happen to get packed

There are multiple stairs leading to the speakeasy downstairs. There are accessible bathrooms down there but even just having opened - the bathrooms were not that clean. They smelled and had garbage on the floor. All staff were attentive and helpful and provided drink recommendations. The drinks err on the side of Tiki drinks mostly but there's some interesting whiskey and bourbon drinks too. We had some small apps to eat and all were good! And the portions were plentiful. We had fries and the hushpuppies. Loved the sauces that came with each. The space was not crowded for a while but started to pick up around 7:30 or so. I feel like a reservation may not be needed here. The upstairs restaurant was also so empty when we left! Not sure why as it looked nice. The noise level at 143 was not bad either even when crowds started to show up. Overall a nice option for drinks and apps in JC!

Food: Before we even ordered, the table next to us made sure to tell us the food tasted of expired oil. We ordered the Island Dip and were served a bowl of soupy beans with only 4 plantain chips to share. The beans indeed tasted like old oil and the plantains quickly ran out leaving us with nothing to eat the dip with. The vibe was lacking as a whole as the waiter was clearly stretched thin. I can only imagine the stress!

Every course was delicious, beautifully prepared, and exceeded expectations. That alone would have made for a great evening. What truly made the experience exceptional, however, was our server, Kyle. Having managed fine dining restaurants myself and dined at many high-end establishments, I pay close attention to service. While this isn't marketed as fine dining, Kyle delivered a level of service that absolutely was. His attention to detail, professionalism, and cleanliness were second to none. After every course, he didn't simply clear plates... he thoroughly cleaned and reset the table with a level of care and precision that I honestly haven't seen from a server in a very long time, anywhere. Every detail was handled seamlessly, making each course feel like a fresh dining experience. Kyle elevated an already fantastic meal into a truly memorable one. Restaurants can teach the mechanics of service, but genuine hospitality and pride in your work are much harder to find. Kyle clearly has both. The kitchen deserves compliments for an excellent meal, but Kyle deserves recognition for providing some of the best service I've experienced in years. He's a tremendous asset to your restaurant, and I hope his hard work is recognized.

It was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, though the burger itself was very thick (more round than patty) and could have used a pinch more seasoning. That said, the bleu cheese and caramelized onions balanced everything out. Great service all around and I'll definitely be back to try the duck burger next time.

Or keep the last vestiges of summer alive with the tropical-themed Iguana Assembly, full of rum, tea punch and coconut lime. If you're sober or the night's DD, you'll enjoy the tart and fruity Blackberry Jab with lemon, pineapple, pomegranate, and of course, blackberry. However, save your stomach space for elsewhere. We were intrigued by the unique-sounding dishes (no mozzie sticks here, y'all) and excited to try them. But words on paper didn't translate to tastes on tongue--most things felt off or fell flat. - Duck Poutine: As someone born and raised in the Great White North, my arteries basically pump poutine (or are clogged by them, I'm not sure which anymore). So I was looking forward to this duck confit twist on my national dish. Unfortunately, what I got was an over-peppered cauldron of soggy fries with a few nubs of cheese curds in an oddly seasoned gravy. It might be the only time in my life I've pushed away a plate of poutine. No bueno. - Brussels Sprouts Caesar: This was fine, though I failed to taste any miso in the dressing. Generous portions size. - Spicy Elk Meatballs: Spicy tomato sauce, yes. But the elk again tasted over-peppered. And I'm all for trying new meats, but I'm not sure elk translates well as a meatball--too tough and chewy for my liking, even when drowning in aforementioned sauce. The accompanying swiss chard and goat cheese polenta weren't bad--wish there'd been more of those. Service was decent the first time we visited, but not so great the second time. It's also worth noting that the inside is DARK dark and the menu is via QR code, so prepare to blind everyone with your phone throughout the night unless you were bitten by a radioactive spider with night vision.

And the dressing wasn't loaded with cream, for a change. - Strigoli Seafood Pasta: Light, refreshing, seafood pasta tastiness with a small handful of scallops, crab and shrimp in a lemon-thyme reduction--I just could've used about 30% more of it to justify the $39 price point. Service was friendly and attentive despite the bust weekend dinner crowd and the fact that we were seated on the packed patio overlooking the lovely marina. The weather was absolutely ideal -- warm enough to enjoy being outside but still crisp, with very little humidity. Basically, rooftop weather perfection. The biggest draw here is, without question, the view. The space itself is beautiful, with a nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating, but seeing the Manhattan skyline illuminated at night is what makes this place special. It's one of those views that reminds you why people romanticize New York and the surrounding area so much. They offer a full food menu, although it appeared to be available primarily for guests seated indoors. The outdoor area seemed to focus more on drinks and lighter bites. Just know before you go: this is definitely a splurge spot. Everything is priced at a premium, so prepare yourself accordingly. Unfortunately, the service experience got off to a rough start. Both the security staff and hostess came across as unwelcoming and not particularly friendly. Whether they were overwhelmed or simply having an off night, it didn't create the best first impression. My biggest disappointment, however, was the restroom situation. By around 9:30 p.m., the bathroom was already in pretty terrible condition. Honestly, it was hard to believe it had deteriorated that much in just a few hours, and it gave the impression that it may not have been properly cleaned earlier in the day. Overall, Rooftop at Exchange Place delivers exactly what most people come for: spectacular views, a beautiful atmosphere, and an unforgettable skyline backdrop. Just be prepared for premium prices, a potentially lukewarm welcome, and hope that someone has checked on the bathrooms before you arrive.

I had an 8:30 reservation and arrived 30 minutes prior (according to their strict directions via text). I waited in line for an hour and 15 minutes and only received a wristband as the fireworks were going off and after arguing with the manager Jude. He consistently let walk ins in before dealing with any reservations. We also paid 35 dollars in advance. Once I got up to the rooftop, I was informed I would have to wait longer as they were kicking people out of our table. I asked to speak with a manager and again was forced to wait 35 minutes and witnessed a hostess quit mid shift. I do want to note, while waiting in line, a kind security guard informed me that the manager was letting people in who were late to their reservation. For example, a couple came at 8:00 for their 7:15 reservation and were let in. This was a horrible experience and will never be back. I understand the craziness of the 4th of July but this could have been avoided. Do not spend your money here, there are plenty of amazing places in Jersey City. Check out District! We went there instead and it was 10/10.

I had very high expectations going in, but unfortunately, this experience was a major letdown. The food was just not good. The pasta was bland and needed extra salt and pepper. The restaurant itself is cute, and I do recommend making a reservation. The open/close concept is a nice touch and adds to the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service was also disappointing. Our server seemed confused, and another staff member had to step in when we mentioned the arancini.
