We ordered Gol Gappay, lamb biryani, Gosht Karahi, and a naan. The Gol Gappay was interesting. Crispy shells filled with chickpeas and potato, with a tangy, salty, savory flavor. Adding a little yogurt balanced it out nicely. Definitely something different. The lamb biryani was around the low teens price-wise and came in a huge portion with plenty of meat. The lamb was slightly dry -- felt like it may have been prepared earlier and kept warm -- but still flavorful and within expectations for the price. The standout for us was the Gosht Karahi. Tender but slightly chewy lamb, very savory and well seasoned, with lots of large chunks of meat. It looks a bit pricey at first, but considering how much meat you actually get, it felt like a solid value. We packed up half of it and still thought the leftovers were more generous than some restaurants' fresh servings. The naan was massive. Good flavor, although it didn't have that super fresh-out-of-the-tandoor smoky char. Funny enough, reheating it in the air fryer at home made it even better. One thing to know: every dish here runs large, so this place is better with a group. There are parking spots in front, but not many.

Inedible Signature Dish, Shockingly Unprofessional Service, and Zero Empathy…read more We visited this restaurant based on strong recommendations, hoping for a memorable family dinner. Unfortunately, after paying a $221 bill, this turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. While the karai was a redeeming bright spot, the signature nihari was completely disappointing--resembling a heavy, generic spicy curry rather than traditional nihari, and ultimately left uneaten. However, the food was secondary to the appalling level of service. In all our years of dining out, we have never witnessed staff physically clearing plates and food from a table while guests were still in the middle of eating. It is a fundamental breach of basic hospitality and respect. Compounding this, we were dining with our children, including a child with autism who was having a genuinely difficult moment. Given that management is reportedly well aware of these parenting challenges, the complete lack of patience, empathy, or professional grace from the staff was deeply disheartening. A $221 bill should at the very least guarantee a baseline standard of customer care and human decency. Regrettably, due to the total failure in service and professionalism, this was our first and last visit.

We tried the fried liver which reminded me of weddings and engagement parties etc in South Asia. The halwa in the Mughal breakfast was a brighter red color than we are used to and toning down the color won't hurt but the taste is spot on. The potatoes in pickled curry (achar aaloo) was fresh and just the right amount of spicy We even tried the stuffed naan with ground chicken (keema) which was neither dry nor soaking in ghee (perfect!) Cute neighborhood and generally pedestrian friendly block. There is paid parking two blocks or so from the restaurant. The space is not very large but adequate and you don't feel crowded. The service is quiet, efficient and courteous. Good job guys !

    | Deeply Disappointed -- What Happened to Baithakh?…read more Baithakh used to be one of our favorite go-to spots in North Brunswick. We've always enjoyed the food, but unfortunately, something has definitely changed since our last visit -- and not for the better. We ordered several dishes, including the Baithakh Seekh Kebab Roll, Crispy Fried Chicken Burger, Beef Paya, Beef Nihari, Peshawari Mutton Karahi, and Chicken Malai Boti. To our surprise, nearly everything was a letdown. The Beef Paya and Peshawari Mutton Karahi were both swimming in oil and severely lacked flavor, which was shocking considering how good they used to be. The Fried Chicken Burger had decent seasoning, but the chicken itself was tough and rubbery -- almost inedible. The Chicken Malai Boti was okay, but even that wasn't as tender or flavorful as we've had here before. Maybe they've changed chefs or recipes, but the quality just isn't the same anymore. Baithakh had never failed us before, but this visit was a major disappointment. Sadly, we're giving it a 2 out of 5 stars. We hope they find their way back to the standard that once made them great.

However, over our last three visits, we've noticed several concerns: The taste of the food has changed, and some dishes were not properly cooked. The karahi gosht is no longer prepared the way it used to be, and the portion size has also been reduced. The seating arrangement feels too cramped for the space, making it difficult to move around comfortably. When concerns are raised, the standard response is simply, "we will let them know," without any visible follow-up. We genuinely enjoy dining here and would like to continue visiting. However, the inconsistency in food quality, along with pricing and portion concerns, has been disappointing and is making us reconsider. I would greatly appreciate it if the owner could give attention to these issues, particularly ensuring consistency in food quality and taste.

We came for halwa puri, the classic breakfast of Pakistan and one of the few bright spots for vegetarians in a nation that takes pride in distancing itself from anything veg. The achaari aloo sabzi was absolutely excellent, and the puris were not overly oily. The chole didn't leave that much of an impression on me. We also ordered the mash dal, which was superb. This is probably the most coarse south Asian dal dish, with an appearance similar to bulgur if prepared correctly. It was a treat to try this dish common as a roadside nashta in Pakistan, but rarely prepared in the states. The anda parantha was a disappointment - I was expecting a typical desi omelette, but the paratha was served with two very plain eggs over medium. This should probably be more clearly disclosed in the menu.

The Paneer Tikka Roll is my personal favourite , the paneer is incredibly fresh, soft, and perfectly spiced every single time. It's wrapped in a flaky, house-made paratha that makes a huge difference. Beyond my usual, the Gappa Chaat is a must-try if you're with a group; it's tangy, crunchy, and beautifully presented. The ambience is vibrant with cool murals, giving it a modern street-food feel that's great for a casual date or family dinner. The service is fast and the staff is always welcoming. I was the only lady there and as I have written in earlier reviews no women come here. The chicken was fresh and tasty but I could manage only half and had it packed. Now the naans here are not the delicate fragrant ones at fancy Indian restaurants. These are thick ones with or without ghee smeared on top (to request) meant for the lumberjack. Here these are in the form of cab drivers and delivery men who need sustenance and no froo froo cuisine. The gender neutral restroom is in my opinion the "Black hole of Calcutta." For men, it may be passable but for women absolutely verboten to enter. At a pinch, go to Kalustiyan where there is a restroom up the stairs. Ideally only should buy something before asking to powder one's nose. Service at Lahori is fine.

I love tasting new restaurants and wanted to stop by this place . Fantastic location . Right in the heart of Lexington Avenue . Lots of other restaurants nearby. Lots of space inside to sit and eat . Even though the ambience is not that great , it's ok for a quick lunch .. service could be better. All guys go inside the kitchen and hardly come out . Wish they had a bell or something in the counter outside for the customers to call them . Sometimes you keep waiting for many minutes before they come out . For the price , food was good . They have many food items on display and we chose some curries .. quantity was good . Naan , white rice and 2 non veg curries for 13.50$. Not bad. ... goat curry was good . Perfect Lahori taste . Chicken curry was average . Could have tasted better . My only issue is presentation. The y just mix all curries in rice and they are smashed all across the plate . Wish they give these curries in separate containers so we can enjoy the flavor of each curries . Another thing is they just reheat these curries . They are precooked . Sometimes with that , we wouldn't know if it is fresh . It tasted fresh though. Overall a good restaurant but giving them 3 stars . Will visit again and check and improve my ratings if needed
