This place was on the pricier side for Indian food and due to the small amount of meat in each dish, not sure we would come back.

Imagine if you will, service so incompetent, so devoid of anything close to positive customer…read moreservice that you wind up leaving a restaurant angry about the experience. That sums up my visit to Pariwaar Delights this week. Pariwaar certainly puts on a good face. Sandwich boards outside promise delicious food. The interior is beautifully decorated with modern lighting, furniture and unusual cutlery. At first things seemed okay. My partner and I were seated quickly because...well, we were only one of two whole parties in the place (but it was Sunday evening so read into that what you will). We had seen a sign outside for a Mutton Biriyani, but on the menu they only listed goat. So here's where the initial confusion began. Depending on where you are, Mutton and Goat are not necessarily the same thing. Mutton can refer to sheep while Goat is well...goat. In some restaurants however, the two can be used interchangeably. So when we started to order, we mentioned the mutton and the waiter (who barely spoke above a whisper and had a deer in the headlights look the entire time) kept saying "goat". We went back and forth three times. He could have easily just said "Here goat *is* mutton" but he never did. After that back and forth, we ordered several dishes including the Indian Masala Wings as an appetizer and the Goat Mandi. This is important to my tale. Within 10-15 minutes some of our food came out including garlic naan, sesame naan and chaan masala. All of this was good, but as we ate we began to wonder where our other dishes were. So we ate and then we waited. We waited a half hour. During that time, the waiter never checked on us. Indeed, at times both the waiter and the host/cashier just disappeared into the kitchen for five to ten minutes at a time. When I finally got their attention, I asked them where our Goat Mandi and Masala wings were. For some bizarre reason, they thought we asked for the Goat Mandi to go (we never said the words "to go" when we ordered) and they claim we never ordered the wings (I asked for the wings three times). I told them we'd take the dish to go along with our leftovers. At that point I just wanted to get out of there. I'm not even going to go into detail on the food. Overall, the food was good but definitely overpriced. These were Manhattan prices in Hoboken. It's not worth having to deal with horrible service and okay food.

We came here shortly after their opening after waiting in great anticipation for about a year. I'm giving one extra star just for the benefit of the doubt because they just opened, or maybe I ordered the wrong things. The menu is not very vegetarian-friendly. Samosa chaat was lacking in yogurt and tamarind sauce. Very heavy on the chickpeas. Paneer makhani biryani was just lots of dry rice, dry paneer, lacking flavor. We barely touched it. There were items on the menu we asked for that they didn't have. Their prices are a bit high for basically fast-food quality. There is a 4% cash discount btw. The owner seemed very nice and earnest. I think they should include some more universally enjoyed Indian staples on the menu just to get more people in the door, and then people will venture into the mandi and biryani. Best of luck.

In a world where some UES people won't travel to the UWS, my main strategic advantage is willingness to deal with long train rides and walks in search of unique cuisine. I've even impressed my LA friend because why would someone in Los Feliz go all the way to Culver City? That brings me to Chef of India. I lack the expertise to convey the intensity of the Chilli Masala Idli but urge you to try this flavor powerhouse. The restaurant's own description doesn't go into much detail, noting "chilli sauce and South Indian spices," but I can respect that they're saving their energy for the cooking rather typing. There's a strong garlic vibe and some onions, but I'm not skilled enough to discern the many other ingredients at work here. I still haven't been to Chef of India in person but it might get the top spot in my Uber Eats Hall of Fame.

The food was pretty tasty, spicier than we expected for "mild", but nothing unbearable. Definitely the least boring butter chicken I've ever had. The chicken was slightly overcooked though, depending on the piece. It came with two sauces, a yogurt-based sauce that was very tasty and cooling for the spice and a much more spicy/spiced sauce that was too spicy for me, but had nice flavor. The roti was fine, nice that we at least had that to dip in the sauces since we didnt have the rice.

Since then, we have consistently enjoyed our experience here. While the Dosas are still the hightlight, they have improved the Idli and Medhu Vada as well (even though the Idli disintegrated too quickly). Dosa Spot has now become our go-to place for Dosas in Jersey City. I still wouldn't go back for North Indian fare but both the plain Dosa, Masala Dosa, and Rava Masala Dosa are all excellent options as are the beverages, from the Buttermilk to the Mango Lassi to the Filter Coffee to the Masala Chai.

Knowing that, we were still craving some dosas after a fun and productive weekend. The Onion Rava Masala Dosa is my go-to and I could not resist trying that alongside the mango lassi. The mango lassi wasn't too special, but it helped quench the thirst a bit. The dosa itself has its good and bad moments: 1) The masala (potatoes) , which was atypically on top of the dosa, was honestly pretty tasty. Great quantity too. 2) The chutney was good, but perhaps a pretty large quantity. I had a hard time finishing it. 3) The sambar was good and the right quantity. However, it did have a pretty good kick to it. Fortunately, the chutney helped offset that. 4) The dosa itself was a slight bit disappointing, but with some important caveats. I felt the batter needed the onions marinated in it a bit more. Felt like the onions were kinda added to the top of the batter, leaving an uneven taste across the dosa. It did feel a bit dry at times due to the lack of onion. Red onion - while sometimes a necessity - doesn't hit the same as white onion with these dosas. I wasn't able to finish the entire dosa. Now the important caveat is that this is a mall outlet and you don't have the luxuries of other South Indian establishments, especially in the suburbs near me. As a result, I don't think this is a bad place to grab dosas or get your South Indian fix. It just won't be my absolute best dosa place.

Lahore is a Pakistani restaurant which is honestly not common to come across (compared to Indian restaurants). The interior is nicely decorated and we were seated immediately. We got 2 appetizers, Aloo Papri Chaat and Gol Gappay. The Aloo Papri Chaat was cold, loaded with textures and flavors, and even some slight sweetness. It was enjoyable but not sure I would gravitate to this again. The Gol Gappay was beautifully presented with a similar flavor profile to the Aloo Papri Chaat. It's great for sharing and more of a playful appetizer. I've never had Karahi before and although maybe not the traditional version, we opted for the White Chicken Karahi. It was mild, savory and creamy. It took ~30 minutes to prepare as the menu states and they don't skimp out on the chicken. For the price point, I would say the portion is reasonable. The chicken was tender, buttery, and aromatic. My only complaint is that it wasn't served with anything so we had to add some Basmati Rice and Tandoori Roti on our own dime. I think it should come with at least one complimentary side dish considering it's an entree. We ended with a Kashmiri Chai. It's a pink-hued tea that actually gets its color from the chemical reaction between the green tea & baking soda. All this time, I thought it was rose! It was garnished with pistachios and had hints of cardamom and cinnamon spices which I enjoyed. Good try overall!

It's unfortunate that I have to post this as I feel despite us voicing our concern (multiple times) in person with the staff and also on the phone when ordering take out, the staff is not trained and do not take certain dietary restrictions seriously such as food allergies. After having a child who suffers from peanut and egg allergies, whenever we have dined or ordered from here as of lately, we have politely asked for certain food not to be served together and prepared properly. After expressing this, the staffs answer is rude and with an attitude and us being told "ok i'll just put it in a separate plate" after it being cross contaminated and served. Then during a take out order when we called to alert that there is an allergy, to please ensure the food is properly handled and packed separately from egg-containing items, we were told (specifically by Jaspreet) it is already prepared and packed, so the best that can be done is taken out and packed separately instead of adhering to the urgency of the matter and re-preparing the food. Our child broke out in hives due to their negligence in the past and I fear that their inefficiency to understand the seriousness of this matter will one day result in legal action being taken against this establishment if God forbid someone else has a reaction or worse a Fatality. My post isn't intended towards the quality of the food, it is more so to be heard and create awareness on this matter as it seems this establishment can care less towards your health needs. Update: We were contacted by ownership (Ishrath) and accused of being in the wrong and were met with disrespect and advised not to come to this establishment anymore as they cannot meet our "crazy demands." We should have been heard out, which was explained to co-ownership (Sobia) a few minutes after my review was posted, that this wasn't a personal jab towards the establishment however has happened to us on multiple accounts, specifically from staff member Jaspreet the past two times in a matter of two weeks. There was no apology on the matter, just defensiveness in a "sweet tone." This is more so a validation that despite us voicing our concerns multiple times in person, it has fallen on deaf ears and it is unfortunate that we have had to go to such extremes as posting this to be heard. Since my post, we see the attempt to have our post buried, and quite frankly hope it made a difference, albeit they have lost our business however we know the restaurant will still thrive. Still wishing them the best of luck and hopefully prevents any future consequence on this matter.
