Insight Shooting Range in Artesia was the complete opposite. From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel welcomed, safe, and comfortable. Natalie especially was super helpful, educational, and easy to talk to. You can tell the staff here genuinely enjoy what they do and actually care about teaching people the right way instead of trying to intimidate anyone. The whole process is smooth and easy. Of course safety is taken seriously, which is exactly how it should be, but overall it's very easy to walk in, shoot, and get out without any stress. Their gun rentals are also very reasonable and affordable. Every time I come here it's always a breeze. Great environment, great people, and honestly one of the few ranges that makes you feel comfortable whether you're experienced or newer to shooting. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

First day was in the office where topics were covered via PowerPoint presentation and Pete allowed us to do dry firing with airsoft guns. Second day was at the range for about 1.5hr where he taught us safe operation (i.e. grip, stance, aiming, accuracy, loading, unloading). Special remarks: Pete's dedication to gun safety and safe gun operation is apparent in the way he teaches. He is passionate about safety and an enthusiastic teacher which made the class fun. One of his most valuable strengths is that he was able to teach in a way that I could understand. (Side note: I am afraid of guns but took this class to combat that fear!) Pete was able to keep the class engaged, provided constructive feedback, and attention to detail. With his guidance and support, I was able to see a significant improvement in my grouping and decrease my fear of guns overall. They have classroom spaces upstairs, which is where my instructor provided a lot of useful, practical information on my firearm: I assembled my AR on my own and learned quite a bit during that process, but he further showed me how to disassemble it completely (I purchased a complete upper so didn't know how the BCG fully operated) and best practices for using and cleaning it. Then we went down to lane 18 for hands-on training. Shot about 100 rounds -- my instructor helped me zero in both my iron sights and a red dot with magnifier I installed on my AR. Everyone there seemed to be expert firearms owners, which is a good thing vs. people who are unsafe and not following safe usage guidelines (I've heard other ranges in L.A. County allow newbies on the range without instruction -- not a good idea for obvious safety reasons). I also like that they have a lounge area where people who are not shooting can still look through thick glass/plexiglass and be safe doing it. Also, they provide a sink and soap so you can wash your hands afterwards (hint: you don't want gunpowder or other after-effects of shooting on your hands should law enforcement pull you over for another reason). You can rent a lane by the hour ($25/hour). No reservations so first come, first served. Will definitely be going back here for more practice. Recommended!

The session was very well organized and Edmund brought all of the props for the various scenarios that were programmed. Edmund, his family, and his team were all 5- instructors. I can't say enough positive things about all of the instructors - everyone brought a great attitude. Every participant received personalized feedback during every scenario. Special shoutout to Edmund and his large bag of extra holsters and mag holders. He even had a 3d printed part that he wanted me to try out. He breaks down fundamentals in a way that's easy to understand without ever talking down to you. You can tell right away you're learning from someone who takes safety and skill seriously. Assisting Instructors Emilio and Julie were both excellent -- attentive, professional, and supportive throughout the drills. The whole class felt structured and well run, but still relaxed enough to enjoy. It never felt overwhelming. By the end of the day, I was noticeably more comfortable handling and operating my firearm -- from basic fundamentals to controlled drills and clearing malfunctions. Everything just felt smoother. Great instruction, great team, money well spent. I'll definitely be back.

Updating my Review .. as per the Business owners reply…read more. The business owner responded with flat out lies about the nature of the issue. I have never threatened bad reviews.. In fact I almost never give a bad review.. this is the very first review I have ever done on Yelp. The business has NOT extended my credits over and over.. The issue of credit extension was raised only when my original contract ended, and they told me that $49/mo alumni would preserve my unused credits. . The issue has arisen presently to this review on yelp because when I went to use the credits I and to my shock I find they are not there. I asked them to restore them and they thus have refused.. only agreeing to give me 60 days to use six months back alumni credits.. The alumni program gives a credit every month.. This is not restoring my credits from the prior program that I was promised the alumni would preserve. Nor is 60 days a reasonable time to use the few credits they are granting.. given the difficulties with scheduling oversold classes. I understand the business owner saying a credits can't be extended indefinitely IF there wasn't some form of consideration, which is what I was led to believe the alumni subscription was providing at $49/mo. Since I started that alumni program they have collected over an additional $1000 without extending the credits as promised. Why this is so hard for them to simply extend the credits I paid for is beyond me.. Perhaps they have scammed so many people that if they begin to accommodate, the dam will break. The scheduling is a REAL problem.. I presume it's because they have OVERSOLD the program and that makes getting into classes very difficult and perhaps that may have been by design.. knowing they would expire out those credits and just keep the customers money without providing service. All I want from this business is to honor what they promised.. It's really not that big of accommodation being requested.. go figure.
