Review Your School As a student at Torrance Adult School, I…read morehave taken English, U.S. History and Economics classes for my high school diploma. Mrs. Hilary has helped me achieve my goals, by giving me the support I needed. I plan on taking art history, U.S. government classes next. Also, I will continue taking child development classes. Thanks DR. Estes, Veronica Nieves counselor for all the support given.

I took the Beginning Excel/Microsoft class and did NOT complete the course…read more I was extremely disappointed in the class structure and most of the students did NOT even know what a desktop was, know how to maneuver the mouse and worst did NOT know how to log in to their computer after weeks. They still needed assistance. This created a minimum of 20 minutes of the teacher trying to assist all these students who were lost. I felt like she relied on other students to help those students who needed help which isn't fair. They should have a prerequisite to this class MUST know basic microsoft, how to use a mouse, how to save/ download documents into a folder, etc. I decided to stop going to the class since the teacher had to focus on these others students and then when everyone was finally on the same page. She would literally rush through the chapter since of course our class was behind. I'm giving it 3 stars since this isn't the teacher's fault or the students. The school needs to do a better job in making some of these courses to having a prerequisite pertaining to that course.

California Healing Arts College - Medical Assistant Program

California Healing Arts College was the best experience! They taught me so much! I really recommend…read morethe vet assistant program to people who would love to work with animals!

I'm writing this to make it clear the negative reviews about this program are not lies. I…read moreexperienced the same issues. During COVID-19 I was in the, veterinary assistant program, I was told there would still be hands-on lab training, just modified. That did not happen. Lab exposure was extremely limited, and the instruction was inconsistent. The second instructor was frequently late, absent, and unprepared. I documented in my graduate survey that she was inadequate for lab instruction which is a serious issue for a hands-on program and no one ever followed up. Most of the "teaching" consisted of reading directly from a textbook, with little to no practical application. It felt like self-teaching rather than an actual program. Cost vs. Value Total cost: $17,506 Out-of-pocket: about $6,130 I was charged $515 for e-books that barely worked and had to go back to campus for physical books. The laptop provided also did not function properly during class. For that price, the education should reflect, it did not. Reality Check I'm currently continuing my education toward my RVT license through a program that costs around $8,000 and is far more structured. This program does not even lead to a license, yet costs more than double. Externship By the time I reached externship, I was not prepared at all. My first site wouldn't even let me participate, and I lost a month. I had to transfer. I didn't actually learn basic skills until my second externship which should have been taught in the program. Concerns I raised multiple concerns directly with Lourdes Valencia over the phone and was told, "you signed up for this." During one call, she forgot to hang up, and I overheard her and another staff member speaking negatively about me. This was extremely unprofessional and discouraging, especially after I had just expressed my concerns. I documented this experience in my graduate survey, yet there was no follow-up. It is very concerning that such feedback was submitted and seemingly ignored. Now that I'm continuing my education, it's clear how inadequate the training was, and it raises serious concerns about whether students are being taken advantage of. Pattern Matters Yes, some reviews are positive, but many negative reviews share the same exact issues. Students (including myself) have documentation of what we paid. At some point, when multiple people are saying the same thing including former staff it cannot just be dismissed. Final Thought My 4.0 GPA was from my own effort, not the program. I did not sign up for an inadequate education. I signed up for what was promised during admissions, and that is not what I received. I am currently in communication with the school and hoping for resolution. Until then: Do not spend your money here if you expect real training and support.
