I love this little place. Great spot to grab some quick, inexpensive Japanese fare (as long as you can find parking - the shared lot gets full quickly). I love their tempura and their beef teriyaki. The Tempura is light and crispy. The beef teriyaki is delicious but I sometimes wish they used a better grade of beef. This place is a hidden gem. I found out about this place 6 months after I started working in Burbank. It definitely gets packed on weekdays during lunch hour. Their prices are a bit on the higher side but they definitely do have great lunch specials! I've only tried their Shrimp Tempura Udon and Spicy Tuna Rice bowl. I was in the Burbank area and actually just typed in "teriyaki" in the Yelp search. Once again this is why I am a firm believer and a fellow Elite Yelper of Yelp. Emon is a moms n pops fast food teriyaki/Japanese restaurant right across from Bea Bea's. It's a fairly small restaurant, but the portions are however large if you decide to order the bento box or Emon's specials. Mind you, the bento box beef teriyaki and shrimp tempura was about $10, it was huge! The best part about Emon was that i walked in with my son (who had already eaten dinner) and the server (probably the son) gave my son a small child's cup of water and an extra plate of a small rice and slice of orange. It was nice of him to bring out another plate of rice to share! All in all a nice fast food teriyaki experience. When you walk in there are items on the board but do look at their menu for more items to choose from. Be careful when you maneuver around the kitchen to head to the restroom also. read more

Great little find in Burbank. The food was good, i tried the chicken curry, spicy tuna roll, and gyoza. I really enjoyed the curry, it's a little spicy but really tasty and comes with a side salad and bean sprouts on the side. The gyoza and spicy tuna were good but nothing special. It's ok Japanese fast food. Came here to try the spicy tuna don, like many have reviewed well. But it's over my lunch budget at $11.95. So I opted for the spicy tuna roll and chicken teriyaki bowl instead. The bowl was not great for me. It had way too much teriyaki sauce, so it seemed too salty for me. Then the chicken tasted like it was fried or cooked in the same pan as fish. It had a fishy taste. I would be a little forgiving since Japanese food is synonymous with fish, but chicken should taste like chicken. The spicy tuna was ok. I don't think the raves on yelp were done by real sushi eaters. I must be missing something? I've eaten here before and had udon. I shall stick to that. read more

Really did not enjoy the takeout I got today. It's a shame, too because they are right next door to my postal annex so I am there all the time but I have been a few times in the past and haven't been that thrilled so I rarely go there. But alas, today I was starving and had no other options so I popped in and got the albacore salad hand roll special ($5) and seaweed salad ($4) to go. The hand roll was okay - the seaweed outer wrap was rubbery and nothing tasted fresh. The seaweed salad was rancid and I had to throw it out. I am not a person that wastes food, so it really killed me to have to throw it out but it made me want to throw up. It even smelled off. And that sucks because I love seaweed salad when its good and HATE it when it's rancid. Next time, hungry or not, I'm skipping this place. Robert and I are surrounded by high ticket celebrated Japanese restaurants in Toluca Lake but this "humble" (and really friendly) neighborhood mini-mall place always comes through with the most wonderful never-fail versions of tempura, sushi, UNAGI (simply the best, plumpest, yummiest!). And their miso soup is comfort in a cup! Every time we bring in from the high-ticket places there is always one(or more?) items that make us regret our decisions (salmon skin salad anyone!?!?) . But EMON rocks! Every time. We've always only done take-out (comfort food IN the comfort of home.) But when things are eat-in again they have a bright, clean atmosphere. read more

This place has been here for so long that it might as well be an icon in Burbank. It was recently remodeled and still has all of the Hollywood celebrity pictures on the wall. I usually get the curry rice with chicken and it is very good. Other dishes, such as the shrimp tempura are great as well. Service has always been good. This is a great little sushi spot in big lot shared with the market, etc. They have big bento box lunches, but I usually come for the miso soup, spicy yellowtail roll and albacore salad hand roll. Food: For lunch, I ordered the beef teriyaki and tempura combo and a beef curry. The beef teriyaki was good although I would've preferred it was teriyaki steak versus bulgogi beef. The tempura consisted of 2 HUGE shrimp tempuras that were delicious and not too oily. It also came with a slice or orange and bean sprout salad, and green salad. The beef curry was delicious- something that I would order again. I only wish they separated the curry and the rice. Our order came with a generous amount of beef curry that smothered the rice. It was the Japanese style curry, not the Korean kind. And they also threw in a complimentary order of edamame. The place is small, and not the easiest to find but the food is good. read more
