Emon was a hit when I ordered it for a large office lunch. The service was friendly and neat. When they saw I was alone with a large order, multiple people came from behind the counter to walk the food out to my car. I ordered the shrimp and vegetable tempura bento box. The portions were huge, especially for the price! I enjoyed it all, except the salad was way over dressed and the sprouts were super soggy. Everything else was great. I've passed by her several times and finally had a chance to give it a try and was not disappointed. The food was good and the price is more than reasonable. I had what is called the today special with salad, chicken teriyaki, 2 pieces cucumber roll, 4 pieces of California roll and I chose to have the shrimp tempura (there are options you can choose beside the shrimp tempura) and I wanted to try the sushi so I had a yellow tail roll. For a small place the service was quick and the people that work there are super friendly and helpful. I love everything about this place. It's clean and cozy, though we typically order for takeout. Service is great and always friendly. Their prices are far more reasonable than nearly all the other sushi places in the area, and their sushi is FAR superior. Also, their udon noodle soup is my absolute favorite! My friend and I both got the bento box with the chicken, beef and tempura shrimp. We called in to order and service was proficient. The lady that took my order said it would be ready in 20 min for pick and sure enough was ready when I got there. The food was delicious so much flavor and authentic home made. Super fresh with ingredients. The dressings were very unique flavor. This is an experience kitchen, one-of the best meals we've had in a long time We give it a 4 star because we did not eat in. My friend just moved into the Ava apartments across the street so we popped in her to get our grub on after unpacking. Fortunately we got in during a lull. Had we waited another 15 minutes we would of been the people standing outside in the heat waiting for tables. You order at the counter and they bring your food to youyour table. The lady brought mine out first, without the rolls and apologized they were coming up. My friends ordered a rainbow roll and udon soup. My rolls came next, then the rainbow rolls. Lastly came the soup. I mean, I'm happy to get my food when it is fresh and got, but it is a little peeve when everyone is served at different times. I felt weird eating while they were waiting, but I like my food hot. The food was delicious! I would never generally order meatballs at a sushi place, but these were exceptional! The place was clean. Stumbled upon this Bento Mom & Pop shop. I was craving my normal Bento with Beef Terriyaki, Tempura and Cali Rolls. Their Daily special is exactly what i was looking for! Well for $1.00 more I upgraded to Beef instead of Chicken. I would highly recommend this place for Bento Boxes! Such a good deal! Staff was extremely nice, I ate outside in there outdoor seating. Cute, small restaurant with mostly two or four top tables. The staff there is really nice and you get your food really fast. I've gotten the udon combo which comes with a few pieces of inari; I've also gotten the Curry bowl. Both were good and I find myself often craving the former! My friends also really enjoyed their rainbow roll, chicken teriyaki set, and tempura set. So yummy and pretty reasonably priced! Judging from the Yelp photos, it seems as if they recently renovated and the change is really sleek and nice Parking can be a bit crazy depending on when you go since it shares a parking lot with Vons. I've been a regular at Emon for over a decade and am thankful I have a go to place when I'm craving Japanese for lunch. This place is walking distance from my office but when I choose to drive, there's a parking lot available in the complex. Keep your eyes peeled though, it's a hole in the wall so you might miss it. I love their daily lunch specials, usually a combo bento of some sort. Their curry rice and tofu salad are also yummy! You pay at the counter and find a seat. Perhaps the best kept secret in the valley for amazing Korean and Japanese food... Their bento boxes are to die for...and their homemade (!!!) potato salad and kimchi are worth coming in just for these. All the food is so fresh - try the noodle soup! The Korean short ribs! Stopped in for lunch with my coworkers and was pleasantly surprised how good my first experience went. Emon is clean and well maintained. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The service is great. My food took longer to get to me than it did my coworkers but they set me up with free bowl of soup for patiently waiting which is extremely thoughtful and to me it speaks volumes of how considerate and attentive they are toward their customers. This place has been around for many years. I went to it in the early 1990s and recently tried it again. It's a family business close to the Warner Bros studios. It's small with pictures on the walls of various celebrities that have visited. The staff is friendly (some of the same family members from before still working) and the business is kept clean. It's some of the best fast food type of Japanese cuisine I've had. The teriyaki chicken and beef give that zing to your taste buds. I always have the Emon combo and I am always satisfied. It has the tempura shrimp, bean sprouts, salad, rice, a slice of orange and the teriyaki chicken and beef. Good place and food away from busy downtown Burbank. The only thing is it's closed on the weekends. I take it the family has to rest and prepare for the week. read more

If you're looking for a fast lunch and you're not too picky, their bento boxes are fine. Sadly, I am a colossal food snob. I was staying in Hotel Amarano across the street (great hotel!) and Emon's prices were reasonable enough that I figured I'd have their teriyaki/tempura bento ($13) and then order the "mixed sushi" to take back to the room and have for dinner ($16). There was only 1 guy at the 3 outdoor, socially-distanced tables. After he left no one came to covid-wipe his table and I got the impression that's not something they bother with. The bento box came out REALLY fast. About the amount of time it takes to fry up some tempura veg. The tempura was nicely presented and well-cooked but the oil was old and I ended up only taking a few nibbles before giving up. The teriyaki chicken was easily scooped out of big pan 'o chicken that had obviously been sitting there on the warmer for hours. It tasted VERY much like they had made a large batch at some point and defrost it as needed. After a few bites I abandoned that as well. It really bothered me that even with only one customer, they weren't putting in much of an effort. It wouldn't have taken a lot of time to slap a marinated chicken thigh onto a grill. This was NOT that chicken. So I guess you get what you pay for. I left unsatisfied and took my mixed sushi back to my room. Everything looked as expected. When I saw they only included 2 soy sauce packets I rolled my eyes but I needn't have worried because I didn't need more than 2 after tasting the tuna. The hamachi (California yellowtail), salmon, and albacore were all good and fresh because they're locally sourced. The tuna was from those flash-frozen blocks that have been hit by carbon monoxide. "You could put it in the trunk of your car for a year, and it wouldn't turn brown," according to an industry insider in an article on the subject. Candy-apple red but it didn't pass the chopstick test - gently pressing the chopstick and seeing if it leaves an impression. Fresh tuna will be firm. Ten minutes later and there was still the same imprint. But I'm an idiot so I took a bite. Blech. Old fish. I noticed that a lot of the happy reviewers at the soups and other hot dishes. I'd stick with those if I were to ever come back. Which I won't. p.s. The entire reason that I ate at Emon was because it didn't appear that my hotel offered food.
