Sushi
Eva B.

I've been coming to Emon since 2007 maybe even earlier when I worked at the studios and it still hits exactly the same. Now that I've moved back to Burbank, my kids finally get to experience one of my OG spots... and they crave it too. The photos say it all. The bento boxes are HUGE. The bean sprouts? Addictive. I genuinely wish I could order a side of them to-go. The salad and tsukemono are so fresh and flavorful they could honestly be a meal on their own. We always go back for the same favorites- you cannot skip the tempura. It's light, perfectly crisp, and never heavy. Everything tastes fresh, simple, and clean. No fuss, just really good food. This time we ordered the tuna hand roll, lemon cut roll, chicken & tempura bento, and chicken teppan. The sushi is fresh and straightforward. I also love the gyu don and their udon (didn't order them this time, but they're always solid). It's walk-up ordering, you can grab drinks from the fridge, and sit down or take it to go. The family who runs it is wonderful, and the music playing in the background? Straight out of my 90s R&B slow jam mixtape era, which makes it even better. Been my favorite for years. So glad they're open on Saturdays now.

Really loved this place. The staff were really nice and helpful when it came to ordering. Also like that there is indoor and outdoor seating. The prices are really good too. My favorite was the Dragon roll, it was so good! The California roll and miso soup were good too. Will definitely be back to try their bento boxes.

The sushi was fresh. It was nice and quiet even though there was a couple of guests. We ordered the food at the counter, to find out later that we could have sat down at the table and to order our food. But over all the service was great. The staff making the food made the food very presentable.

Bento Box - Chicken Teriyaki w/ Shrimp Tempura

Hidden gem! Really solid spot in the neighborhood. I ordered the chicken teriyaki with shrimp tempura bento box and everything was on point. The chicken was flavorful, the tempura was crispy, and the portions were generous. Also tried the rainbow roll, which was super fresh and well put together. Definitely coming back.

Lunch special

I wanted to try this little Japanese restaurant because it's closed on Sundays! So my friend and I went for lunch on a Monday. We were seated right away. You order & pay at the counter and they bring the food out. We each got the lunch special bento boxes which included teriyaki chicken, a little California roll, a little cucumber roll, and tempura shrimp, plus a lettuce salad, a cabbage salad and a bean sprout salad. It was all good.

Stopped by Emon during my Burbank Visit. Enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and wallet friendly prices. Victor's sushi roll is awesome. I love unagi so that Plate was amazing. Free hot tea + refills - No other place I know does this. Prices are great, food tastes very good. Worth a stop if your in the area. Owner is there cranking out each sushi dish. Service is kind and fast. Definitely stopping by again

I stopped by EMON in Glendale for lunch today, and it turned into one of those unexpectedly impressive meals that remind you why community‑driven restaurants deserve the spotlight. This Japanese‑style gem delivers thoughtful flavors, warm hospitality, and a level of care that stands out in the neighborhood. I ordered the weekly bento box special, and it was outstanding from top to bottom. The chicken was tender and perfectly seasoned, the salmon sushi tasted clean and fresh, and the salad and bonchon‑style sides added balance and texture without feeling like filler. Even the tea and water service was attentive and well‑timed -- the kind of detail that quietly elevates the entire experience. The atmosphere inside EMON is warm, spotless, and inviting. It's the type of space where you immediately feel comfortable settling in. Clean lines, calm energy, and a sense of pride in the environment make it easy to enjoy your meal without distraction. A major highlight of my visit was Sung, the manager. He was extremely polite, courteous, and genuinely knowledgeable about the menu. His recommendations were thoughtful, and he helped guide me toward the bento special -- a choice I'm grateful for. Beyond great service, Sung's connection to the community is unmistakable. I watched him greet guests by name, check in with regulars, and engage with people in a way that shows EMON isn't just a restaurant; it's a neighborhood touchpoint. Leadership like that is rare, and it shows in the atmosphere and the consistency of the service. Parking -- often a challenge in Glendale -- was surprisingly easy here. There's plenty of parking available, and the location is convenient without the usual congestion, making EMON an ideal stop for lunch or dinner without the stress of circling the block. And for full transparency: my wife is absolutely going to be annoyed that I came here without her. After tasting this meal, I can already hear the "You went where?" conversation coming. But honestly, that just gives us the perfect excuse to return -- and next time, I'm bringing her with me. Overall, EMON delivers delicious food, exceptional hospitality, and a community‑minded atmosphere that makes you want to come back. This place deserves a spot on your regular rotation, and I'm already planning my next visit.

It was my first time trying this place, and the experience was amazing. The food is really good and great quality, with generous portions at a reasonable price. The service is friendly as well. I highly recommend this place to anyone who likes Japanese food.

Emon in Burbank is outstanding! The staff are super nice and incredibly patient with their explanations, making the experience feel personal. The food was very fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.

Spicy Tuna Don

This is a review SPECIFICALLY for the Spicy Tuna Don. I've ordered this dish multiple times and Emon has consistently delivered a delicious, quality bowl. The sushi rice that they use is amazing flavor wise and texture wise. It's not overwhelming nor flavorless and has a nice chewiness to it. The perfect sushi rice. The spicy tuna also tastes fresh. My favorite meal when I'm in Burbank. They accept phone orders and the workers are always friendly and efficient. Restaurant has limited seating but it's not difficult to find a table.

The place was super clean and the food tasted fresh and well-made. We had the teriyaki combo, tempura combo, and a roll everything was delicious and reasonably priced. So happy to have found such a great casual neighborhood spot. We'll definitely be back!

It all worked so well together. I also got the Hama Chili nigiri and it was super different, in a good way. The red powder was something different I haven't tasted before so I can't describe it. The fish was buttery soft. So fresh and flavorful. And the Baby Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice Cake was easily one of the best crispy rice dishes I've had. The ratio of spicy tuna to crispy rice was perfect and the portions were actually good too, which a lot of places mess up. Every bite was perfect. Everything tasted really fresh and looked pretty too. I want to come back with my sisters and see what they think

We ate here last night, and shortly after I started vomiting and dealing with diarrhea throughout the entire night. It was one of the worst reactions I've had after eating out. What's even more frustrating is that I tried calling the restaurant afterward to notify them and discuss the situation, but I couldn't get ahold of anyone even after leaving a voicemail. I understand things can happen, but food safety should be taken seriously, and the lack of response afterward made the situation even worse. Very disappointed after what had previously been good experiences here.

Our server, Katrina, was incredibly kind, attentive, and on top of everything. My Diet Coke was never empty, which is always a sign of great service. Food Highlights Garlic Noodles with Lobster This was my favorite dish of the night. The noodles were rich, buttery, and packed with flavor. They were sweeter than I expected, but still really, really good. The lobster was tender and added a great contrast to the sauce. Seabass A small plate but a standout. The fish was cooked perfectly and had a clean, delicate flavor. It paired well with everything else we ordered. Lobster Wagyu A fun, indulgent dish. The wagyu was rich and melt‑in‑your‑mouth, and the lobster added a nice texture contrast. Definitely a premium bite. Tuna Crispy Rice Crispy rice is always a crowd favorite, and Taisho's version is excellent. The rice had the perfect crunch and the tuna was fresh and flavorful. Nigiri Chef's Choice (2 orders) These were beautifully prepared and a great way to sample a variety of fish. Clean cuts, fresh flavor, and well‑seasoned rice. A solid choice if you want variety. Overall Taisho delivered a great meal with standout service. Katrina made the experience feel easy and enjoyable, and every dish we tried had something memorable about it. We'll definitely be back.

Making a reservation was very easy, and everything went smoothly from start to finish. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted right away and seated promptly. The ambiance was warm and inviting. The restaurant is a bit dimly lit, but it really adds to the cozy and upscale atmosphere. One thing I immediately noticed was how clean all of the grills were. We chose the AYCE option (around $55 per person), and the pricing for kids was very reasonable. Our 5-year-old was charged a reduced rate, while our 3-year-old ate free, which was a nice bonus for families. The selection of meats was excellent, with plenty of options to choose from. They do have a 90-minute dining limit and a surcharge for excessive leftovers, but that wasn't an issue for us because everything was delicious. The appetizer selection was surprisingly large. We enjoyed the beef fried rice, noodles, a sushi roll, crispy tofu, chicken karaage, and shiitake mushrooms. The crispy tofu turned out to be spicier than we expected, so just keep that in mind if ordering for kids. However, spice lovers will probably enjoy it! The chicken karaage was a huge hit with the kids, especially with the spicy mayo on the side. The shiitake mushrooms were also incredibly flavorful and well-seasoned. We also ordered crispy rice spicy tuna, we loved it too! What really stood out was the service. Every server we encountered was kind, attentive, and genuinely friendly. Instead of simply dropping off food and walking away, they took time to check in, ask how we were doing, and connect with us. That personal touch made the experience feel special. We only ordered water since we had already had plenty of drinks earlier in the day, but they offer a variety of beverages as well. For dessert, we tried the mochi ice cream special--two for $5--which was a fantastic deal. In San Diego, it's common to pay around $5 for just one mochi ice cream, so we were pleasantly surprised. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and are so happy we chose Oku-Niku for my birthday celebration. Great food, excellent service, a family-friendly atmosphere, and a memorable dining experience. We'll definitely be back!
