I would give a minus 5 star!! Bad business! I signed contract for 3 years and within the first 60 days with so much problems and not functional . I contacted them and they. And out and charged more for services and still not helpful . I wanted to cancel and threatened me. I did not want hassle so I said ok I will pay for remaining contract of 3 years and even spoke with the owner and the son and the billing person and emailed and that no more service when the 3 yr ends . They did not stop billing me so I cancelled and reported to my CC company . They said I owe them a two years extension because I did not notify them withjn 60 of end of contract. But I told them that I had told all three of them withj. The first 3-6 months I do not want any more and will end . They tries to offer me a less cost service . This is a very well run security company. The founder, Paul Keast has close to 50 years of experience. This followed a successful career in law enforcement . I know Paul for over 35 years because I hired him as a consultant. His son Corey has grown up in the industry and is very sharp technically and a big asset. I was with them for over 15 years b/c they bought out one company I had service with on month to month. Last year they contact me to changed billing under the new owner company name. Now I told them my last day will be end of March 2025. They told me I am responsible until end of June due to billing update document I signed last year. Don't trust this company, last year when someone call me about the billing change, I was told that they need it document signed to be able to bill under new company. TL;DR One star is too high a rating for this operation. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY My business was broken into. I came into my building to find my alarm was still set. I called ERS and they informed me that someone would come out to look at the system. No one ever did. Thankfully when I signed up, I opted to only contract with them for a year. This break in occurred only a few days after the anniversary. They informed me that the contract was evergreen and renews if not cancelled before the end of the contract. Long story short, they harassed me, and sent me threatening letters from a shady paralegal. They even spent $150 to file a small claims suit against me for the additional year of service. Great company and most responsive. We had our home residence security alarm system installed and monitored with Emergency Response. We love the home automation system he set up for us. We have worked with several alarm companies over the years and this one has been a great experience. The owner Paul has been very fair, honest, and always gets back to us when we call. Very knowledgeable about all aspects of security and fire systems. We purchased medical emergency alert systems for parents. They took the time to recommend the most appropriate system and worked with our schedule to install the system. I had to call to ask some questions about the notification paperwork and was promptly answered. Very pleased with our choice to use this company. Our company used Emergency Response Systems Inc in Riverside for over five years. They basically monitored our alarm system. We never had a break-in and had very few false alarms, so they didn't have to do much. Unfortunately, we ran out of money and went out of business. So naturally we called them and canceled the service. Easy right? Nope, they still want their pound of flesh. Apparently, it is not so easy to cancel a monitoring agreement with Emergency Response Systems Inc even after religiously paying them for more than five years. They have a sneaky 2-year renewal clause in their agreement. They have a 3 or 5 year initial term and then a sneaky 2-year (fine-print) renewal term which you have to cancel 90-days before the end of the current term. They employ some very suspect business practices. To add to their shady business practices, if you cancel prior to the end of the current term then you owe the remaining months on the current term - no discount here. They basically stick it to you everywhere they have an opportunity. If you cancel and don't pay the remaining months, then the threatening letters start. You get the idea; we'll sue you for the $400 you own us blah blah blah. If you don't respond, then they start to threaten the employee who signed the agreement rather than the company that went out of business. It's amazing they think that these tactics work in this day and age. I would suggest never doing business with them. We were a good long paying customer and you see the way they treated us in the end. BTW: When we canceled the service our account was current and we owed them no money. Also I gave them several chances to do the right thing but when they started to threaten former employees with a lawsuit that's when I knew I had to tell our story. read more

I feel the same as other yelpers. It all went down hill when they merge. I was not notified to the change until i began to see my bills with another name. They have small print in their contract! Read everything. My bill went up and convince me I would save more if I got rid of my other landlines and use a cell signal(something like that) nevertheless, I'm paying more now and my phone lines since i made the change have suffered(might be the phone company). The company I originally signed with merged or was absorbed. The new company is nothing but a front. I had an upgrade done (which I paid for) nearly 2 years ago and found out they had given me a 2 year contract, I was not told, it was in the fine print. I changed alarm companies and found out that I was still under contract with emergency response. Needless to say the 2 year contract should have been made absolutely clear, it was not, now they are calling and mailing bills to me which I'm not very anxious to pay. STAY AWAY!!! This is a small business w/ what seems 3 employees, (Owner, his son, and an office assistant). The Owner, Paul Sr is a ex-cop with a chip on his shoulders. The customer service is very poor. Phone calls returned weeks, not hours. We paid 3 yrs straight in 11/2011. We received a bill 9/15/14 for service from 10/1/14 - 9/30/15. We ignored it since we were paid until end of Oct or early Nov 2014. We tried to close the account , (TODAY), and pay a pro-rate of 14 day. He said no, he wants 12 pmts of $68.50 per month paid 1 time, (NOOO WAY!!!) We tried to cancel and he would not accept a verbal request and said we are bound by his contract. Our contract was only for 3 years and it covered the cost of all equipment. Now he is saying that the equipment is his since we have not been under contract for 3 years. Now we knew he did not know what he is talking about. We are still waiting for a copy of the original contract showing 1) when we started and 2) if there were any hidden clauses showing automatic renewal for 3 years. He threatened us with small claims court. I do not think anybody should use or renew with this lame company. Try VIVENT Alarm. This company is using the same exact equipment as Vivrnt, and is less than $43.00 or $42.99 per month. read more
