I told you it locks up at whatever % and you recommended to back things up as best I could with it shutting down every 5 minutes. IT WAS LITERALLY THE ONLY OTHER ISSUE I HAD. 2nd phone I even said won't update it get stuck. The only thing you got right is I didn't mention Minecraft. At the end of the day, I'm down $227 and still had the issues. Felt no difference when I checked it in. Frankly, I will rather be refunded that $100 than go with any service. My experience so far is Charged $200+ just to pop out the graphics card and run it a temp for 2 hours is ridiculous. Students beware! So I have an issue with the USB ports on my less-than-one-year-old Dell desktop. Only four of 10 ports are detected and I know I need to get them fixed. I called Bob/A1 because I am approaching the date by which I need to renew my Dell warranty and I wanted to compare the price of fixing this problem versus buying a warranty. Well, the real issue is this: even with an active warranty with Dell, I have to spend HOURS on the phone with them and I still cannot get them to send someone out to fix the computer. They try every trick in the book to deny me service. Even when I bought the computer new -- and hadn't put one piece of software on the computer, there was an issue with the computer shutting down with no BSOD or any warning. I tried to get them to fix that but after 4.5 hours on the phone and seeing where they checked for error logs, I fixed the problem myself -- and it was in their (Dell's) initial software build. So, I asked Bob/A1 for a quote to fix my USB issue and he talked to me for 42 minutes. I don't know yet if I can fix this issue on my own with the generous advice he offered me or if I will need to get a replacement USB card installed in one of my expansion slots. But I DO KNOW, now, with his help, that I will be saving my money for specific fixes rather than throwing away money on a warranty with a manufacturer (Dell). Seriously, Dell's entire business model is based on wasting enough of the customer's time so that they go away without ever getting anything fixed. Bob said he is Dell certified and he said if I spent enough on a Dell warranty I might get better customer service. But he also explained to me what he felt was the likely problem with my USB ports. That was SO MUCH MORE than I got from the person at Dell whose first language is far from English (and I am not being racist since they speak more of my language than I speak of theirs). Still, the help and advice I got from Bob was spot on. And, whether I choose to have him fix my issue now or wait to use him later, I will be using his service and giving him my money in the future, rather than handing it over to Dell. read more

My work computers motherboard went out. It had my payroll software on it and payroll was due on Wednesday! The back up we had wouldn't work. We turned to Yelp to find someone to help with data recovery at 7pm on Tuesday night. Bob replied immediately! I told him about the bind I was in. He offered to do the work that night! I liked the fact that A1 was willing to work on my home office computer. Many companies don't want to be bothered by small single computer jobs. Other companies require that you bring your computer in to them. Since I use it for my business, being without it for a day is a real problem. For anyone choosing a computer repair service, I would highly recommend starting with a call to A1 Computer Consulting. I called A1 after experiencing problems with my five-year-old Samsung laptop. Over the phone, I was able to describe the problems which occasionally prevented the computer from starting. I had found A1 computer and consulting through the YP ad, called him 1/2/17 was trying to solve the issue over the phone but couldn't so had him come the next day. I had an issue with my wifi repeater/hotspot connected to my router. Bob showed up was able to fix the issue with in the hour and 15mins and I was able to use my 1st time client 10% off coupon with no issue. I had my computer looked at and worked on here a few months back, but finally got around to writing this review after much deliberation. First let me start by saying that I appreciate how prompt and professional the whole ordeal was. I had my PC taken to another shop before this, and the service there was absolutely horrible. There were good aspects and those i felt which could be improved about this place. I like the idea of having 16 "free" programs installed (even though you're paying for them either way) however, i don't agree at all with having a time restriction to purchase them under the premise that the deal is too good to pass up, nor do i agree with having to pay for them to be reinstalled in the future. I highly suggest before going to any computer place that you as a customer do your research on whatever symptoms your computer is experiencing, as going to a shop may not even be necessary. After having my computer brought back to me, and paying 300 bucks (100 for the "free" programs, 40 for the "installation and verification" of steam and java and 160 for windows reinstall), i noticed the issues my PC had resurface almost immediately.In any case, the main thing that i felt this place did well was actually go in depth on what could be wrong and run extensive tests, and tell me possible problems and solutions (in my case there were two failed motherboard tests, and i opted not to replace it as it would have cost me another 300 bucks which i did not have at the time, not to mention i was told that those two failed tests did not "seem" to affect performance, and if i was to take my computer in at this time, i would get charged the other 300 bucks again to do the same thing. I understand that computers are complex and there could be a myriad of issues that could cause performance issues, but i highly recommend before you go to a computer shop that you guarantee that you can fully trust them, do your research on what could be wrong, and make sure that you won't be charged to do something that won't fix the issue you're experiencing. 2.5/5 but rounded to 3. read more
