There is something about the flavor that makes me crave it. We don't live that close but my family and friends can only go so long before we have to go. It's calling me back today. First time trying Emilio's. Place is very small inside but was packed with people. Happened to find 2 seats at the bar next to a great couple to chat with during our visit. When you have pizza, you must have beer. Boyfriend and I started with a beer and shared an Italian Sub and medium pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, and onions. The sub was full of toppings and very flavorful. Honestly I could have eaten the whole sub by myself. The pizza had a crispy cracker crust that stayed crisp even with all the grease on the bottom. Great distribution of toppings and also very flavorful. We were watching salads come out of the kitchen to others near us. Looks so good we will have to stop back so we can try one. It was a really nice homey feel as soon as we walked in. Everyone seemed to be regulars and know each other and they made us very welcome. Made it to Emelio's to give them a try and I was not disappointed. Got a medium pepperoni, mushroom and onion pizza and a Super Italian sub. The pizza crust was a very thin, crispy cracker crust that supported the pizza. The sub meats were plentiful and had great flavor not usually found with most other sub shops. One other note is that there pizza passed the next day's cold pizza test. We also saw others that had the salad that looked very good, will have to try that's on the next visit. As for the decor it is a great little neighborhood bar, light on seating so it is packed when they are busy but the staff did a great job keeping up. read more

Not sure if I'm just biased or what but I actually love this places food. The antipasto salad is delicious and one of my favorite menu items. So, that place on Georgesville with the green awnings that looks like some rough and tough biker bar, is actually a place that houses some decent pizza on the west-side. I have yet to eat inside this location, but we always get pickup from here. Delivery is..... iffy. Some days they have drivers... some days they don't. The pizza is the Ohio standard cracker type crust, square cut and greasy. Oh boy, my arteries! They have those nice little pepperoni's that like to curl up, and the rest of the ingredients aren't too terrible, either. The sauce is slightly towards the sweeter side, as opposed to a full robust. There's this pepperoni salad that everyone freaks the eff out about, but I can't seem to understand why. It's just a chopped Italian salad with cooked pepperoni. Try at your own whim, but it wasn't a life changer for me. Emelio's is one of the few pizza joints in the west corridor that hasn't cheapened out to feed masses, and has stayed fairly consistent, so with that, I can gladly say, I'm a fan. On our crusade to check out as many pizza places as possible in the Hilltop area, we hit up Emelio's. It's tucked under a green awning on Georgesville, right next to the intersection with Sullivant. Definitely an unassuming restaurant, with the dark divey feel of a bar that hasn't been updated since the early 80's. We went on a Friday night, and the place was almost packed-- only table seating for about 30 people, and all but one booth was full. The bar seats were full as well. Prices here were affordable. No craft draughts, but no surprises there. The menu is simple- pizza, subs, salads, and garlic bread for the sides. We had a pepperoni and pineapple pizza, which was pretty tasty. The pepperoni made it a bit greasy, but that's par for the course I think. Their crust here is SO THIN. Like, almost crackery in consistency. I tend to like a thinner crust, but was surprised at how wafer-like this pizza was. The sauce had a nice balance. Our server was really friendly and accommodating, but the restaurant itself was a bit loud. There are a lot of tvs crammed into a small space, so the combined volume was more bar level than restaurant level. The pizza is different and delicious though, so it's worth a stop! read more

I've been coming to Emelio's for more than 15 years now. I figured it was time to write a review. Hands down this is the best pizza and salad in Columbus, maybe even all of Ohio. The pepperoni "cups" perfectly on the pizza. Even the salad has cooked pepperoni. The pizza crust is thin and crispy as you would expect cooked in a traditional stone pizza oven. I grew up on the West Side of Columbus and I'm partial to C-Bus pizza. My parents raised me on Minelli's. It wasn't until I starting working at The Columbus Dispatch that I tried Emelio's. It easily became my favorite pizza. We would order every Thursday like clockwork until we moved away. Now I try to slip in on the weekends to enjoy some pie. I highly recommend eating in, as you should do with any pizza place. The ride in a cardboard box steams the pizza. Great pizza can hold up but there is still a degradation factor. Emelio's is great! The Special Salad is a must with it's cooked pepperoni and torn provolone. They use the absolute best pepperoni! I suggest you order a Pep and Cheese. Do yourself a favor, try it the way they make it first before deciding to ask for extra anything. The balance is already there! I have had the Works, to me it doesn't stack up to the Pep and Cheese. Our work Christmas party was at Emelio's last evening. Walking through those doors was one of the best decisions I've made in 2017. I have finally found an Italian joint in Columbus that is comparable to all of my favorite places back home. The food was spot on. Our meal was catered, and we had Italian sausage with peppers and onions, meatballs in sauce, tossed salad, hard rolls and pizza. The restaurant had an old time dive bar feel with some wood paneling and sports decor, and just a few benches to sit and little private back room where our party was. The vibe was actually quite pleasant and homey. This is a no frills type of joint that gets right down to business, serving up killer Italian food and strong drinks. Pizza was excellent. It was a thin crust and the toppings were great. We ordered a large "all the way" and a large cheese pizza for the kids. The pizza was very tasty. Not the run of the mill generic Domino's and Pizza Hut stuff. This was great pizza. The salad was also fantastic. They use a house italian dressing on the salad. The salad was easily big enough for 3 to 4 people. We had 2 adults and 4 kids. We ordered 2 pizzas, 2 salads, 4 beers and 4 sodas and the bill was only $63.00 and we had leftover pizza to take home. The service was excellent. It is an old school bar type building and atmosphere but our family felt very welcome and everyone was friendly. Bathrooms were clean and bar was packed with people.
