I've been coming here for about four years and the technical work is consistently excellent. My favorite tech is both talented and a pleasure to talk to. The Bad: The furniture is in "gross" condition. The pedicure chairs have large stains and dried wax on the footrests, but the tech stools are the worst--the vinyl is ripped to shreds. My tech actually has to cover the stool with a towel so the torn material doesn't scrape my skin. The Verdict: For a place that brands itself as "Austin's Original Upscale Nail Salon," the lack of maintenance is disappointing. This is a premium-priced salon, yet the equipment is falling apart. Dang. I loved this place until today. The services themselves were great, no complaints there. But I was about 10 minutes late and so they couldn't do the full service I booked--the embellished pedicure with paraffin wax and extra massage. That is totally fine with me to not do the service, but they still charged me for that service even though what I got was a pedi with extra massage, which is $10 less. I mentioned this to the cashier and she just said she couldn't do it cause she was late and didn't change the charge. I don't see why I should be charged for a service I didn't receive--I am fine with not receiving it because of the time, but I don't think I should have to pay for something I didn't get. read more

I had a terrible experience here. I received a gift certificate here for my birthday and brought along my daughter for mani/pedis together. I have psoriasis on a toenail, and the nail tech was rude and kept asking if it was contagious. I get asking once, but she kept pushing it. I assured her it was an autoimmune disease and not contagious, but she continued to hammer me. She said another client has psoriasis on her foot, and it is disgusting. She was rough with filing my nails, and when I asked if she could be more gentle she raised her voice and said she already was being gentle. The rest of the pedicure passed in hostile silence. When I thanked her at the end of the service, she glared at me and said nothing in return. I have never had such an appalling and condescending service experience -- unbelievable, especially at such an expensive establishment. read more

Not one to leave reviews but so frustrated with the lack of attention and customer service/professionalism. The front desk employee was watching a movie on a laptop/ipad and eating her lunch while I was checking out and in return did not ever hand me back my credit card back after the purchase. I am annoyed because it's a small shop and I was the only one in the boutique side - so I would have appricated if she could have paused what she was doing while I was checking out. This was a MAJOR inconvience for me as I was going out of the country the next day and did not realize the card was gone until I was no longer in Austin a few hours late. I get mistakes happen however, let's try to stay professional while clients are in the store?! I worked at a boutique just down the street on bee cave last year and we were able to eat in the back if really needed and management requested no phones in the front..... Pretty simple! This review is long overdue, and I couldn't let more time go by without sharing my two cents. In sum: Embellish is the rare business that shines across multiple fronts. On the most fundamental level, you will absolutely receive excellent manicures + pedicures here. They've got an array of long-lasting polish colors from quality brands (OPI, Smith & Cult, CND Vinylux), applied expertly by personable nail technicians. I've visited Embellish Westlake on many occasions and have been seen by multiple techs, all of whom were best in class anywhere I've been, in Austin or elsewhere. The store's ambiance is sweetly charming, veering on the girlish side with pinks + browns and crystal chandeliers. The entire place (including restrooms) is very clean, as are the tools used by the nail techs. And the complimentary drinks and M&Ms are too good to pass up. Given all the above, it would've been reasonable to post this review ages ago; however the catalyst for doing so now is because yesterday while at an appointment, I received an extraordinary level of customer service from the store manager, Rhonda, who went above and beyond to ensure my experience was delightful. Thank you, Rhonda, for your kindness and generosity. I was already planning to return in a few weeks, but now I'll be certain to do so when you're also scheduled so I can thank you again in person. Great location near my home and office. I treated a friend here for her bday as it seemed a little more high brow than my typical nail salon. Our techs were very sweet, but honestly- I prefer the massage chairs and foot spa. These were the most expensive mani/pedi I've had besides at the Belagio in LV. Sadly both my friends and my shellac are peeling and chipping on day 6. We are both very careful and wear gloves to do dishes etc. my gel nails at PKN last me two weeks or more for much less expense and I get a massage chair. Cute boutique and nice staff, but their polish doesn't last. read more

I have come to this salon a few times in the past (years ago) and loved my experience every time except for this one. The salon itself is very cute and comfortable, but they had minimal polish color selections today. The first color I chose, the nail technician said was too light and would be too see through to use. I then chose a second color which she stated would have the same issue. I then chose a third with apparently the same problem. I finally hesitantly decided on a fourth color which I normally would not have chosen except for the lack of color choices. Once on my nails, I decided to have it taken off as I did not like the color out of the bottle. I then had to pay to get it changed to another polish color. I left the salon feeling unsatisfied. Edit: thank you so much to Wendy the owner for her thoughtful response! I should have clarified that were not many OPI colors today but that I do appreciate hearing that there are usually many more, as had been my experience in the past. I really like this place. It's quiet and peaceful. I started going here because it was the only place I could find that used the copper soaking tubs for pedicure. I just started doing the gel manicure and it's a real game changer for me! No more worring about my manicure for a whole month! I love Embellish; it's been my go-to nail spot for the last year. When we first moved to Austin I bounced around to a few other local places but my nails were getting super thin and I felt like those shops only cared about getting me in and out as quick as possible. Embellish was not that way! They take their time and are gentle. It's a bit pricier than other local nail salons (about 20% more) but I think it's worth it (and they always have M&Ms for guests so there's that!). They also have a little boutique with cute clothes, jewelry, knock knacks, and cards. It's a great place to find a gift!! read more

It's really hard to get last minute appointments at this place, but otherwise I love everything about it. The staff is friendly and I've always walked out with perfect nails. They have a brand of polish that's super quick drying and usually lasts me a lot longer than OPI. I also love the cute movies they play. Twice I've gone home and rented them to watch with my daughter. It's very clean in here and I like the tubs they use for pedis, although sometimes I feel like I should get up and help lift the basins. We went here for a bachelorette party and I got the embellish manicure/pedicure with Shellac. I was a Shellac newby but I am glad I got it since I work 10 hour days and so far chip-free! The facility was very clean and I had a wonderful experience. My nail tech was super nice and just chatty enough but not overly chatty that took away from the experience of enjoying some pampering! I normally only go here if I have a gift certificate because in my opinion it is rather expensive....but then I don't get my nails done all the time. This past experience was one of the best ones. The lady did a fantastic job and was really nice. I'm very active and put a lot of wear and tear on my hands, therefore I don't always get the best looks when I want to get my nails done. Customer service isn't bad for the most part. They do have a cute shop with a variety of items such as Kendra Scott jewelry and other cute purses, dresses, napkins....great gift items. I also discovered on this visit that they have m&ms while you get your nails done. I've learned that sometimes on your birthday you really do just have to splurge on yourself. That's what I did today. I called to make an appointment (highly suggested) and looked forward to it all week. I walked in. You know how you walk in Those Other Nail Shops and you're HIT with the smell of all those chemicals? Not here. Not at all. I walked in and they had me sit in these big, cushy, wonderful chairs. And not those awkward rolly massagey things, either. Ever watch someone in one of those? We look pretty ridiculous. My mimosa (oh, yes, my mimosa, people!) was delivered promptly, as they put a hot, delicious smelling wrap around my neck. The nice lady came over with a big copper pot and had me stick my feet in awesomely hot water. I sat and soaked. And snacked on M&Ms and mimosas. (Okay, fine...my one complaint is that there were too many orange M&Ms) Usually, I giggle uncontrollably when they whip out that big file thing, but for whatever reason, this one did not tickle so badly. Also? after she scraped down my feet, she took off the file (like a sticker) and threw it away. The other tool--like file and buffer--she gave to me. Much more cleanly than that blue water stuff I've seen at Other Places... I splurged and went for the Embellish Pedicure, which involved a paraffin wax and a yummy scrub. My gams are still soft and feel great. She said usually there's movies on the flat screens, but for whatever reason they were off today, which was fine for my relaxation factor, especially since the music was right up my alley. The place is bright and open with lovely windows. The woman told me it's about twice as big as the one at The Triangle. For that reason alone, I'd be more likely to come back to this one. I don't usually get manicures, but the manicure bar looks pretty snazzy. It's literally like a bar, with high stools. It's very clean. They techs bring out their cart with the tools and materials on it, then wheel them back out of the way. That is way cool! I don't think I'd get the Embellish Pedicure every time, because of the added cost, but I can see me coming back here again. For sure. read more

I visited this nail salon with a female friend over Fourth of July weekend. She asked if there were any walk in appointments available for a manicure but they were booked. The staff at the desk were perfectly nice about this, and it was totally understandable that there was no availability. But on our way out, one of the women who was giving a manicure made a very audible and disparaging (and, for what it's worth, totally inaccurate) comment about my friend's clothes. I am very glad that Embellish was booked when we stopped by. I'd never want to patronize an establishment that would employ someone who would make a gratuitous and mean spirited comment at a potential customer's expense. I won't be back, and I'd encourage others to avoid this overpriced, attitude-heavy salon in favor of one of the many other fine nail salons in the local area. read more

I had definitely the best Pedi I've had in Texas here a week or so ago. It was booked for me by a friend who chose the 'embellish pedicure' for us - and I had no idea what the Salon was going to be like - but I was delighted by it! Letty transformed my horrid post-beach-vacation runners into baby soft fancy shoe worthy feet in seemingly no time. The leg massage was entirely lovely. The hot wax treatment is always my favourite part. The comfy chairs, snuggly warm neck pillows and magazines, movies and soft drinks made us feel very much at home. They even have chocolate out if you're having one of those sorts of days! A great range of colours - My feet looked brilliant immediately. And seven days, five long runs and a couple of swims later they still look lovely. I'll be back for sure immediately I need a touch up, can't recommend Letty enough. read more

This shop is very cute on the inside and offers adorable boutique items. They also offer warm neck wraps to enjoy while you are in their comfy recliners. However, I went in three weeks ago when I was visiting Austin for a pedicure and my big toe nail was cut incorrectly. Unfortunately, a week later I went to the doctor and found out I had an infected ingrown toenail. I also find it interesting that they don't offer dip powder nail services. That's all I've used on my hands for years and everyone in Dallas does it...so I feel like their services are limited. Since they can't provide me with the manicure I am accustomed to and the pedicure resulted in a $170 doctor's appointment and antibiotics, I will not be returning. read more

You'd think that because I was Vietnamese I'd be brilliant at doing my own mani/pedis. The exact opposite, in fact, I think it's rare when I actually don't screw up my nails. Which is why I usually go to Embellish for my nail-needs (I've been to this location and the one at The Triangle). I don't get my nails done often, but when I do, I go to Embellish. There are many reasons as to why I go to Embellish, to name a few: 1) Most of the technicians are NOT Vietnamese - not that I'm hating on my own race, but I know how Vietnamese women are, and they are catty and gossipy and I don't feel like getting my nails done and knowing that I'm being judged with my lack of Vietnamese-language knowledge. The technicians here are sweet and have the right balance of being conversational but not talking too much. 2) LOVE LOVE LOVE the decor of this place. I love how pink and girly and fun it looks, and I love how comfortable the seats are. I like that it's also a boutique, it adds a little something else to it. 3) The basins for your pedicures - those fancy electronic massage with the bubbly jacuzzi chairs might look very high-end at other salons, but in fact, most nail salons are very bad at sanitizing those jacuzzi's after each client. It's really easy for bacteria to build up in those jets. The manual basins that Embellish uses are actually the most hygienic way to get a pedicure. And that water they use (pomegranate? rose? who knows and who cares) is heavenly! This is a great place to bring a big group of your girlfriends too. I don't remember the Bee Caves location, but the Triangle has classic romantic movies playing in the background (Sabrina, Roman Holiday, etc.) which makes your experience so much more... girlier :) read more

Then decide to tell me over there is the desk. I felt the girl that helped me was snotty and on the rude side...and in that snotty voice she told me its by appointment only and the only appt she had was for a polish change. My bridesmaids and I went to Embellish for our pre-wedding nail doings. I'm happy to report that one week hence, my French pedicure is still holding up marvelously despite many days of walking around Disney World in flip-flops. The manicure isn't faring as well, but I wouldn't expect a non-shellac mani to last more than a week. The nail techs did a beautiful job on all three of us - as far as I know, we were all very happy with the results. I found the mani-pedi a bit overpriced, but again, it was about what I expected from this kind of place. Surprisingly, the boutique section had some very reasonable prices on clothing, etc. My real complaint was that the manager and my nail tech ended up having to deal with a... situation... while we were there, which disrupted the serenity I wanted from the most important nail appointment of my life (all involved knew what the occasion was, but didn't fuss over the three of us like I thought they would - disappointing, though I'm sure they get zillions of bridal parties in there. They just didn't make me feel very bridal). A previous patron had lost her cell phone during her appointment, and the manager was continually coming over to my nail tech/our area and asking whether anyone had seen it, despite the fact that our nail techs were busy and kept saying no. Apparently there was some accusation of stealing, which caused my nail tech to spend every second I wasn't looking directly at her to bitch to the girl doing my friend's pedi about this customer. Very unprofessional. All in all, I had a so-so experience that resulted in a great nail job. The Disney movies were a nice touch. Booking an appointment was hell for more than one person at a time, though - call FAR in advance for either location. read more

Walking into Embellish, my first thought was, "Wow! This place is adorable!" - and it is! The other thing I noticed was that all the pedicure chairs were full - I was glad I had made an appointment for my eyebrow and upper lip wax. I was immediately greeted by a friendly girl working at the front, who offered me some cucumber water (delicious!). Although I was a little early for my appointment, the esthetician, Katie, came out to greet me and took me back to the waxing room immediately. She was very friendly and talked just enough, but not too much. Now for the actual eyebrow wax. While Katie did not totally mess up my brows, they weren't done well either. After I got home there were a large amount of stray hairs left over that I ended up having to pluck. When I pay more for an eyebrow wax than I usually do, I expect to see results equal to that payment (they charge $15 for brows, $10 for upper lip.) However, I was completely disappointed that the job was not as well-done as it could have been. I could have gotten better results going to the mall to get them threaded. The last thing I'd like to mention about Embellish is that the boutique is great! They have beautiful, well-priced jewelry, clothing, and accessories. They would get 5 stars if I was just rating the boutique and not the waxing services. However, I want to rate the entire place as a package, and I think the main thing that was lacking is the experience and training of the esthetician I had. read more

This is a review that I've been wanting to give for some time, so here goes. I had been going to the "drop in/strip mall" salons forever and finally got fed up with communication issues and rudeness from my last nail shop (you can read my review) and decided to try Embellish, which is also pretty close to my home. I love it. First of all, you can make an appointment, and THEY HONOR IT! No sitting and waiting for an hour, nope, they get you in and out in an hour. The setting is calm, peaceful, with a neck wrap and wine/water/soda if you care for that. The techs are super knowledgeable, as friendly/talkative as you want them to be. There's nice background music playing, TVs show movies with captions. The polishes are clean and new. Embellish uses pedicure basins that are like big bowls, so they are clean- no hidden machine parts that can harbor bacteria. You get a new packet of tools that are sealed, and they offer you the file and block to keep if you want it (I keep the files in my car, at work, everywhere!). The prices are within $5-$10 of the strip mall nail salons, and the quality, ease of communication, and convenience are WELL WORTH IT! Thank you, Embellish! I love this place. Granted they are more expensive than your standard strip mall spot, most of the girls do a great job. The girly interior is fantastic as well as the boutique. You can shop while you wait for your appointment :) They have always started appointments on time as well which makes me VERY happy! There are no chemical smells, they listen to how you want your nails shaped, and they take their time. Plus, you get to have whatever you like to drink and watch a girly movie. I cannot say enough good things about Embellish!! As a runner, I am vey particular about how I keep my toe nails (since I want to actually keep all of them) so it is so nice to go to a place that understands exactly how I want them. It's definitely pricier than your average hole in the wall, but that's because it's not a hole in the wall. It's like going to a spa without the spa price and hushed voices. All of the staff is really friendly and the owners have always been so helpful when they are on site as well. I feel I should preface this review by saying that I pay for a pedicure every once in a blue moon, so things like price are not huge deterring factors to me. That said, I got an embellished pedicure here over the weekend. For $50 (not including tip), it comes with the basics (trim, shape, cuticle work, callus smoothing, foot and leg massage) plus an exfoliating scrub and a paraffin wax treatment. It's definitely not a bad deal, and I had a great experience. I was expecting the Bee Caves location to be all pink and Legally Blonde-esque like its counterpart in the Domain, but this location is more subdued. It was a little hard for me to find the front desk at first, as it was in the back of the store behind the boutique area. Once I checked in, I was directed to pick out a color. Color in hand, I headed over to my chair. I soaked my feet in a giant copper tub of pomegranate foot soak and Ashley went to work on my pedicure. She did a great job, and it didn't hurt that someone came by to ask me what I would like to drink (wine, mimosa, cucumber water) and if I wanted a heated neck wrap (which smelled very yummy). I'm also one of those people who doesn't like to chat during hair cuts and pedicures, and Ashley respected that (I think the book I pulled out was probably a clue). She occasionally asked me questions as they were necessary, but for the most part, left me alone to read my book. Overall, I'm really glad I came to Embellish to pamper myself, but if I had to get regular pedicures here, I would have a hard time justifying the expense to myself. read more

Embellish is my go to pedicure place here in Austin. The reason I won't go anywhere else is that the service is consistent and I've never left disappointed with my nails. I love the recliners, warm aromatherapy neck warmers, blankets to cover your thighs if wearing a skirt it dress, wine, coffee and snacks, sanitary emery boards and tools, clean appearance, overwhelming polish selection... Basically, everything about Embellish is on point and I appreciate all the special touches one receives here. Perhaps it is slightly more expensive than other places in town, but it's worth the few extra dollars to me as I know I will receive stellar service and be able to fully relax for one hour. read more
