I had hope!! I heard The Embassy was under new ownership and I wasn't too thrilled with the Diner under the previous ownership so I decided to give it a try tonight. Flags everywhere, parking lot crowded and decent music playing as you walked in, I took this all as a good sign! But, I opened the menu and the stage was set for a bad experience! All dinners include Soup OR Salad and a bread basket!! No veggies, no potatoes, no coffee or tea. I should have just walked out but I decided to give it a try and ordered the Filet of Sole Francaise and the Matzoh Ball soup. The waiter brought me 2 rolls and my cup of soup. Rolls were not fresh and the soup was very salty. Dinner was served and taken back shortly after. I couldn't eat it. The fish was doused in a heavy sauce that had so much lemon added I couldn't even taste the fish. The manager came over, offered me a different choice but I just wanted to leave. No, I'm sorry for the awful dinner, he just told my waiter to charge me for the salty soup and I was handed a check for $4.53! This might just be worse then what was before. NEW Ownership is doing it right! The inside is all redone and clean. There's way more TVs inside so you won't miss a thing. The food is def better so that's obviously a huge plus. The lot is always packed now so you know things have changed. The flags outside are an awesome touch to atheistic of the diner but the inside and nicely decorated. It's like a closer Oconee diner with the same family dominating awesomeness. If you're in the area trust me this is the diner to check out. I came here at the recommendation of coworkers who said that the food was great. We had the Thanksgiving special for $34. It's great that they provide so much for your money. an appetizer, such as shrimp, fruit salad or spinach pie; soup or salad, potato and vegetable, turkey and dressing with gravy and so on. We ordered cream of turkey soup which we've had and loved at other nearby diners. The service was great and very prompt. A basket of crackers and rolls arrived very quickly. But the rolls were cold where I expected them to be hot. Well that just made more room for the other things because I wasn't going to have a second roll. The cream of turkey soup was very thick and not great. Once the main course came out, I realized that the soup was very likely made with the thick turkey gravy as a base, which was an interesting yellow color. I don't really want a bowl of thick gravy when I'm looking for a creamy turkey soup though. The turkey itself was very good and came draped over dressing and was coated in the yellow gravy. The cranberry sauce was kind of a thin paste, I had hoped for whole berries and didn't really know what to do with this. Drink it like a soup? The consistency was more like a drink. The candied sweet potatoes were good but the broccoli was inedible. It was obvious that it had been heated from frozen but it didn't even taste good. I ate one bite and pushed it aside. The coffee, which came with the meal but that we had to ask for after we had gotten the check, was undrinkable. It tasted bitter and burnt and as though it had come from the bottom of the pot. I ended up having to throw it away. For dessert they only offered ice cream (and only vanilla, chocolate or strawberry) or pudding. The rice pudding I got was good. I know it's a diner and I shouldn't have expected too much but I won't go back. The MAGA stuff all over was also off putting but I decided to try to overlook this hate hoping that the food would be good. It's not worth it. read more

Went there for lunch first the first time. The diner was decorated beautifully for St. Pats Day, but the best part was the food. They have probably the best turkey club on Long Island, real turkey not deli meat , ample amount of crispy bacon, fresh tomato and lettuce and perfectly toasted bread. Bigger on the inside than outside with a decent amount of parking, the seemingly thousands of flags in and around this diner show it's run by Americans and wants to cater to people who say they love American. There's plenty on the menu for even picky grandma to find something to eat. I had the matzah ball soup and it was very good, albeit way too hot. I envision a bubbling cauldron of it in the kitchen with cast iron ladles. For my main meal, I had a chicken gyro wrap and it was quite tasty. Decent sized portions. One thing, even though it's a diner, the prices are as high as most mid scale restaurants. Our waitress was very nice and the bus staff were quite attentive. I've been coming to this diner for 30 years and haven't had a bad experience until today. I was visiting with my elderly grandpa who requires a walker to get around. We went in through the back handicap entrance, and no staff assisted with moving the several tables needed to get him seated. We were eventually seated and placed our orders, the waitress didn't return even once to check on us after the food arrived. We also received no refills on any of our drinks. The food was good, as always, but I was very shocked to see how poor the service was. When it was time to leave I asked 2 different staff to please help me because there were people seated and blocking the path to get him out, one smiled and pointed to the door like it was funny that I had to figure out how to get him out. The other staff member just ignored me and walked away. Extremely disappointed with the direction things seem to be heading for this diner. read more

Just ate here, the food and the staff are still decent, but this diner has embraced the Fox News/MAGA movement and is all decked out in it. I'm cool with the American flags you see all over from the street but this goes way beyond that. Everyone is entitled to their political beliefs, I respect that; but, nearly every monitor had Fox News going (the few that didn't had local News 12 on). I wasn't expecting to sit and eat my breakfast while the My Pillow moron hovered for five minutes just above my wife on a monitor. I don't want to see Tucker Carlson or Hannity while I am trying to eat. I don't want to see them and the crud they peddle ever. The presence of Roger Stone and Trump on every wall didn't make my breakfast peaceful or enjoyable. So yeah, my party didn't exactly feel welcomed or wanted here. We came for eggs; we got tripe. A few months ago, Embassy was great. Then they got really busy. Now they rush the food and the quality is not the same. And prices are high. You can easily spend $80 + for dinner for two (at the diner!?!) and it's not worth it. Did take out the other night - one panini sandwich and a twin cheeseburger deluxe - $55 and the burgers were burnt dry - one slice of tomato for 2 burgers, one thin slice of cheese that you can hardly taste (used to be a CHEESE burger), and a pickle slice (not whole pickle) We felt ripped off. It's tough to talk about Embassy Diner because of the COVID-19 crisis and because I wasn't sure what Nassau County/New York State laws required of the diner. All of this notwithstanding, the diner failed to properly communicate with us on our visit. I came in with a group of coworkers. We had just gotten off of an overnight shift. We wanted to do breakfast together and though I had found two other area breakfast spots (with outdoor dining to boot), the leaders of our gang insisted on this place, noting that they served alcohol after 8 am. Apparently, the night-shifters often met at this place after-work (I was the new guy and didn't know about it until that morning). So we all set off in our convoy of cars. The first of us to arrive (at around 07:45) asked about the drinks (e.g. mimosas etc.) early on and didn't really receive an answer from the hostess/management. Our server took our meal orders, then came back and took our drink orders. Moments later he came back and said that unfortunately we could not have drinks at that time. It is a big deal in the grand scheme of things no, but it seemed like we were duped into ordering food and committing to eating it before we were actually given an answer on the drinks and that left a bad taste in everyone's mouth, so-to-speak. Our food came out relatively quickly though we had to wait on the last plate (etiquette dictates that you wait until everyone has received their dish). The location of the diner is also convenient. Our server initially had their mask below his nose but he pulled it up in time for us not to react and ask him to pull it up. In another oddity, I paid for the entire group's bill (to avoid him having to sort out multiple cards) and he asked aloud what tip I wanted to put on the bill. If anything, usually you add whatever tip you wish to provide on the paper merchant copy of the bill after your card is charged the base price. It was such an awkward moment. There isn't much else to tell here. Bottom line: This place requires you to take the risk of indoor dining (no outdoor dining) and then seems to play a little bit of a game as far as capturing your business. So buyer beware. It's probably not worth it. read more
