First time customer today and I was terribly impressed with both the quality and freshness of the product, the appearance of the bakery and the courtesy and professionalism of the owner Jason Torrance. I have visited and tasted at 4 Mesa cupcake bakeries this week (tough assignment right?) in preplanning an event next month. Hands down Cups and Cakes is the winner. My mother and I drove about 20 minutes to try out the only cupcake store in the area that is open on Sunday's - we were very happy we did! This shop is under new ownership and the second we walked in the door we were greeted by one of the owners who was quick to answer our questions and tell us all about the shop. The cupcakes were large and well frosted and at only $3 a cupcake (discounts for larger quantities) they are reasonably priced compared to other shops. We ended up buying 6 cupcakes. Our favorites were the Orange Dream and Peanut Butter, but they were all delicious. This place was just eh. My sister ordered cupcakes for my birthday from out of state, googled their hours , arrived at the store and a paper sign taped to the door said 'summer hours 11-6'. Closed early Ok well that's nice we had a birthday party planned. The next day when I made it into the store after the party, there were barely any cupcakes on display, the cakes in the window were the same exact ones they used to shoot their Instagram logo. Nothing special at all about these cakes either. Just blah. When I mentioned the sign no one cared and when I asked to see some cakes they had nothing to show, just told me to go on Instagram. Good luck I don't see this place staying open long. The fact that the cupcakes I had chosen are the same exact ones shown in pics from 2016 is kind of sad. read more

As soon as you walk in the smell of cake and batter it's so intoxicating. So, happy to have a cupcake and bundt cake bakery in the neighborhood. I just love the selection too. We tried the salted caramel cupcake and it was moist and delicious, not much icing either... nice touch. I love the small tables outside to enjoy your treat after dinner...so inviting. So, I came back in November to purchase a special bundt cake for a birthday and they were closed due to some permit issue......which was a bummer. Honestly the frosting was way too sweet. The frosting as also super stiff, I wish it was a little creamier. The cake wasn't overly moist/flavorful. I really wanted to like them because they were beautiful, but the buttercream had too much powdered sugar in it for the amount of frosting on the cupcake. Mostly everyone wiped off half the frosting. I think the mint chocolate ones tasted like toothpaste, and I usually love mint chocolate flavors. Just average, I guess. They were very pretty, though. It's not like they're bad, they're cupcakes, they're just not as good as I was hoping. So very disappointed with the cake! First of all I could not get the cake I wanted because the decorator could fashion a red cape. When the cake was picked up the color was not superman blue it was some shade of turquoise blue. The superman logo was generated off the computer in sugar paper. I paid 10 extra $ for the custom superman cake and got nothing more than I could do myself at home. Lesson learned, an expensive one, $45. We came into town for a week as we do each month throughout the winter months and we're so excited to see a cupcake place nearby! I bought a half dozen to bring to a gathering. I have to say, I have been to a few shops that tout that they have won Cupcake Wars but these tasty treats were better than them all! They were all so moist and delicious! My favorites were the chocolate mint Oreo, the chocolate peanut butter and the vanilla raspberry. The seasonal pumpkin was also amazing! I really liked the salted caramel, but just know that the cake is spice, not caramel, but if you like that be prepared for some drooling! The family that runs it was just the sweetest!
