    May 2025 Drink Menu.

elNico is a pretty aesthetic rooftop bar inside The Penny Hotel. Upon entering, I really liked their decor and colorful space, which was still light and airy. The outdoor space has a pretty nice view of the NY skyline, but it was closed for a private event the day we came to check it out. My friend and I came here just for drinks, so no review of the food. I had the Millennial Pause ($16) while she had the Fortune's Fool ($16). I wax so intrigued with the description on the menu, but unfortunately the drink fell a bit flat for me. I didn't taste any corn in mine nor the banana in the other. The drinks were pretty standard despite being pretty. It's a nice rooftop in the east side of Williamsburg, but not too special. It seems that their outdoor is dog friendly, which is a plus for me though.

I kicked off my Mother's Day weekend with drinks at El Nico in the Penny Hotel, and it was the perfect start. The space is absolutely beautiful--bright, colorful, and full of great energy. It's the kind of place that instantly lifts your mood. The bar staff was so friendly, and the drinks (I tried the espresso martini) were on point. A special shoutout to Iñaki at the bar, who recommended the Mezcalrita--it was so good, I drank it all night! His service and vibe really made the experience even better. Whether you're celebrating something special or just looking for a gorgeous spot to unwind, El Nico is a must-visit in Williamsburg. I'll definitely be back!

Easily booked a table for dinner on a Friday night in early April, but I'm sure that gets harder to do during the summer. Great chews and views - and drinks! I tried: + Wonderful nothings + fortune's fool + Barbarella + mambo no. Vibe + Ceviche + short rib barbacoa + gringa al pastor taco + Quesabirria + Tetela + Churros The best cocktails were the Wonderful nothings and fortune's fool, and the food highlights were the quesabirria and tetela. Ceviche was my next favorite. Barbacoa was great, but needs tortillas or something because it's just a giant hunk of meat. Al pastor taco is also worth getting. Great service, too. Would come back even just for drinks! Maximum rooftop vibes if you sit outside on the terrace.

I met up with friends here. The experience was great. The drinks were fun. The appetizers were yummy. The service was very good. The ambiance was amazing. It was raining the day of my reservation so I was prepared to be disappointed but I really enjoyed my time at this rooftop restaurant with live DJ. The only thing missing was a dance floor!

I made a reservation at ElNico days in advance for a party of 6 to celebrate my birthday. I noted a food allergy for one of my guests and confirmed the reservation the day before. From the start, things went downhill. One of my friends arrived early and was told we'd be seated outdoors, but when I got there, the hostess seemed confused and asked "table for two?" despite me repeating my name and time. We were sat indoors, and she forgot to give us menus. When we finally got someone's attention, we were moved to a different outdoor table, not the main rooftop, but a side area. Service was completely unorganized. We had multiple servers, and our last waitress was rude, impatient, and dismissive--especially when we reminded her of the allergy we had noted. She acted like it was an inconvenience. The food was bland and underwhelming. The tacos were bite-sized but were packed with flavor. The drinks were disappointing. Three of us got the Jamaican Sunset, one had a passion fruit margarita, and I had a guava cocktail that tasted like straight smoke. It was undrinkable. When the server asked how it was, I told her honestly I didn't like it. Thankfully, the manager kindly came over and took it off the bill. Still, for what was supposed to be a special birthday celebration, it was a major letdown. Beautiful decor, but the service, drinks, and overall experience missed the mark. I won't be back.

This was a very nice rooftop. I went to an event called vibes n vino. For the first hour or 2 they only served wine during the event and later on opened the bar for other hard spirit options. The indoor outdoor rooftop was not open since it was too pretty cold at the time of the event. I'm not sure what the vibe is like outside of this vino event but it was really close the metropolitan L train station, literally a few steps away. A bit out of the way for me to go back but it was cute. And the bathrooms are color themed so you walk inside and it may be completely pink, yellow, red, etc. Really interesting and funky. My eyes were struggling to adjust lol

The place was really packed on Saturday. Im not exactly sure if they were short staffed or if the service was extremely slow. We ended up just having one round of drinks and chips, salsa and guacamole. The drinks came about 20 minutes in but the guac took about 45 minutes so after that we just decided to leave and eat elsewhere. Also the guac is topped with chive oil which gave it an extremely strong onion flavor on top of the raw onions that typically come in guac.

TLDR: Easily one of my favorite places in the city for cocktails. Came in a group of friends on recommendation of Dial A Drunk. We basically ordered everything on the menu. Of what we had, my favorites were the Bidi Bidi Bom Fashioned and the Santo Pepino. I didn't see it on the menu but if they ever bring back the Passion Berry Negroni, that is also a definite must order! Tried a lot of the seasonal menu as well and those were just as great. Food was great as well. Felt like a crime seeing how expensive the tlayuda was but it was quite good. I think the guac is quite good as well. Service was attentive and friendly. Interior is quite cute. Would bring a date or a group of friends here. Overall: I feel like this place rivals many of the 50 Best Bars I've been to around the world!

Such a cute rooftop bar at my hotel. My bf and I loved it so much we went two nights in a row for drinks before dinner. Beautiful view but I wish I was able to step outside to get the full experience. It's winter so covered, but you can still see a lot. Decor was adorable. The bartenders were very accommodating and friendly. He made up his own shot of vodka with grapefruit. Absolutely delicious!

Super cute rooftop with beautiful sky view. Extensive tequila and mezcal bar menu, cocktails were boozy and delicious. Appetizer was really good. - Guac was done perfect, we ordered 3 times! - Oyster was really fresh that we couldn't resist to order another plate. - Scallop YUM. Entree however didn't stand out as much. - Steak has a lot of fats almost too much. - Bone Marrow was somehow served lukewarm and dried that there's was nothing really. I'd say drinks and bites outdoor would be perfect.

Our reservation was for 8:30pm, but we arrived early and Alejandra, the hostess, was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. Even though she was ready to seat us, we decided to hang at the bar until the rest of our party arrived and that was the perfect move. Alkarys behind the bar was top-tier. She recommended the Siempre Reposado, and let me tell you... smooth, clean, dangerously good. If you're into tequila, that's a must. Now let's talk about the food. We ordered the quesadilla, rajas, tamales, tacos, and the queso fundido and every single dish hit. The queso fundido came out bubbling, rich, perfectly melted with that pull you want when you scoop it up. The tamales were moist and packed with flavor, wrapped beautifully and clearly made with care. The rajas had that perfect balance of roasted pepper sweetness and savory depth. The tacos? Authentic, well-seasoned, and layered with flavor, no shortcuts. Even the quesadilla stood out, crispy on the outside with that perfectly melted interior. Everything felt traditional, elevated but still true to its roots. You can taste the authenticity. Service was attentive without being overbearing, the ambiance was super casual and laid back, the kind of Brooklyn spot you pull up to for a real dinner experience, not just a quick bite. Highly recommend this place if you're out and about in Brooklyn. Definitely coming back for the tequila, the queso fundido, and round two of those tacos. I'm gonna try eating at the bar to check out the spot in the front of the house.

I'm genuinely in love with this place -- everything tastes homemade because it truly is. They have amazing weekly specials, too: * Happy Hour on Mondays ALL DAY with classic margaritas for only $10 (so good!) * Tecate Tuesday, perfect if you love an easy, chilled beer * And my absolute favorite: the Carnitas Combo -- tender, flavorful pulled pork that hits every time, available any day of the week. If you're vegetarian or avoid dairy, the Vegetable Burrito is incredible. It's hearty, packed with flavor, and wrapped in their house-made corn tortilla, which makes all the difference. Don't skip the chips -- with a scoop of guacamole on top of the warm chips. Heaven. Brunch here is another level: * Their chilaquiles are comforting and perfectly seasoned * And the eggs with steak is such a satisfying combo The cocktails are unreal -- especially their signature pineapple spicy cocktail. Truly one of the best I've had. Overall, Taqueria Milear is one of those rare spots where everything feels thoughtful, homemade, and delicious. I can't recommend it enough!

AMBIANCE: Walking to the restaurant from the subway, it's located on an unassuming block at the corner of 4th St and Havemeyer in Williamsburg, front of store doesn't particularly stand out. Walking in they've decorated with creative, crafty (in a good way) touches--the multitude of ropes draped from the ceiling add dimension to the ceiling and the bar back wall is composed of wood pieces forming a multi-colored herringbone pattern. Textured glass pendant lights hanging from the ceiling throw mini geometric patterns across the dark walls, and vibrant canvas artworks add pictorial interest along the walls. FOOD: YUM. I can see why this place was jam packed on a Saturday night, and reservations are needed. Strong recommendation for their tasting menu at $58 pp, what a delightful meal! 8 sharing dishes and 3 desserts were perfect for a party of five, and drinks are separate though you can add a cocktail pairing for $47. For each main they provide a serving per person, and the desserts are shared. I came hungry and was so full by the end of the meal--everything was delicious! - grapefruit guacamole w/house-made chips: the grapefruit chunks were "meaty" and surprisingly went really well with the guac, it added a different citrus element than the usual lime. Comes with a small bowl of maybe 6-7 chips and we asked for two chips refills since the chips to guac and salsa ratio was low. - spicy faroe islands' salmon tartar: tasty and I liked the latin flavors and corn, snow peas, a touch of wasabi. Flavors of the sesame-soy-truffle-lemon vin and crema got a little muddled. Relatively more "generic" dish of the evening though I was here for it! Any dish with fresh tender salmon, I can't complain. - blue crab and carrot tostada, generous shredded crab salad on top of freshly crisp blue corn tortilla. Topped with pumpkin seeds, dill, cilantro, and saffron-orange aioli. - three cheese & artichoke 'queso fundido': served in a very hot ceramic pot and super melty and delicious, eaten with the fluffy grilled pita and green apple slices + salsa. One of the top picks of the evening. - roasted bone marrow and chorizo, served as tacos with fresh blue corn tortillas, and added a sprinkle of pickled onions--does that sound amazing? Bc it was AAHMAZING. - spicy chipotle-guajillo shimp 'diablo' (not spicy): served with pumpkin tortillas and three accompaniments on the side--mushroom chile crisp, horseradish crema, celery 'salsa macha". Part 2 to make your own tacos was another hit! Our entire table agreed if they sold the sauce for the shrimp we'd all buy it. - heritage pork osso bucco 'carnitas' with Fall-spiced black mole, sour cherry mostardo, calabrian chile pesto: cue drooling now. This part 3 of the tacos was served on pumpkin tortillas; the meat was practically falling off the bone, tender, juicy and flavorful. - buffalo-style com 'elote: sooo good too! A little messier to eat since it comes drizzled with spicy hot sauce butter, feta, lime aioli, cilantro, though totally worth it! - Desserts: --green tea matcha churros: comes with two little pots of spiced mexican chocolate & passion fruit sauce. Warm, sugary and crisp without being too sweet. --pumpkin spiced-vanilla flan: topped with sour cherries, cocoa nibs & toasted seed 'trail mix", if you love flan you'll love this, so smooth and creamy with a bit of crunch and tang from the cherries. --pistachio tres leches cake with cream cheese frosting, raspberry, using an olive oil cake: we all agreed this was probably the best tres leches we've ever had. The pistachio nuttiness and the creaminess from the milks paired well. SERVICE: Very friendly and attentive service though it was very loud in the restaurant and they had to really shout. There was a delay in the middle of our meal I think bc kitchen was slammed, after the entree we waited about 35 min for our desserts. Considering they limited the seating to 2 hours and about half of our party arrived 20 min late, and accounting for the long wait pre-dessert, they did us solid by extending our table time by about an hour in total. Also great that they brought the first dessert out with a candle for my friend's birthday.
