I have liked different Elmers over the years. I think they do a good job for a smaller chain and provide comfortable dining situation with lots of space. This Medford location was no exception, and I was warmly greeted when I entered. Staff was all accommodating. So why three stars? It seems to be the portion size has shrunk recently. I don't know whether this was a bad day in the kitchen, or with increased food cost, if this was their way of keeping breakfast at a certain price point. I'm in Medford for the day picking up a horse trailer. My hotel was only about half a mile from here so I dawdled on over and am I ever happy I did next. I'm a little bit of a Dutch baby aficionado, and this thing was damn tasty, of course I got extra lemons because who doesn't and pleased to see they have one of my favorite bacon on the menu DAILY'S and both did not disappoint. I can't say much about the scrambled eggs as they were not my favorite as they almost tasted like a combination of powdered eggs, but the other two items more than made up for it, and the coffee is decent. I called to place an order for pick up and she said they don't do that anymore. weird. so I asked if I come in physically and order there, can I take my food with me? She said she wasn't sure and checked with someone and came back and said that we have to sit down at a table and "eat a little first", then we could ask for to-go boxes. WTH?! Seriously??? That's the most craziest thing I've ever heard of. So, 1-star for that, and also the previous time my friend went there was a problem with her food, so they took it back, didn't replace it, and still charged her full price for they threw away. what a weird place! read more

We are back in Oregon so stopped for dinner this time. Service was fast and friendly and food was good. I had "honored guest" aka senior meal of wild Alaskan cod over rice pilaf with steamed broccoli and carrots and a bowl of Ivar's clam chowder. We went for dinner but the few choices available didn't appeal to us so we ordered from the breakfast menu. My garden omelet with buttermilk pancakes was excellent. The 3-egg omelet was fully stuffed with diced veggies and cheese, cooked just right. The buttermilk pancakes were light but didn't fall apart with great flavor. If you don't care for the sugar water syrup, jam and honey are available. The staff were pleasant and service was efficient. Place is clean. Food was okay I guess. Nothing like Roosters but it is what it is. The part that was bad was being sat in the bar without even asking us and the traffic of tweekers sucked. My wife and I love both this and the Grants Pass Elmer's. We always feel welcomed and comfortable and the restaurants are always clean and hospitable. I don't remember ever having a bad meal, I was introduced to apple chicken sausages here at Elmer's about 20 years ago and I'm never disappointed. The waiter apologized profusely saying they were down two cooks. The waitstaff should NEVER be put in the position of apologizing for the kitchen! The wait time for breakfast was unacceptable. I went to the new Elmers restaurant for an early (11AM) lunch today and it was disappointing. After waiting in an empty lobby for a more than a few minutes I was greeted and brought to a table. Ten minutes later the server came by to take my order, which was simple; a patty melt and a glass of ice water. After thirty minutes or so the patty melt finally arrived, luke warm and ala cart, alas there were no fries. The server informed me the fries would be out shortly. I was done eating when a small plate of fries arrived with a warning that they were extremely hot (I guess this was to offset the cold burger). During the very long wait for my lunch the manager was buzzing around making conversation with customers and joking with other employees, totally oblivious to actually managing the restaurant. My waiter was obviously stressed and avoided me. One redeeming thing.. the food tasted good. Summarizing: long wait to be seated, long wait for server, very high prices, extremely slow food preparation, cold entree, untimely presentation of side dish, small portions, uncaring management. read more

This is a shout-out to Ariel the Supervisor on duty tonight. He SAVED our experience. Ordered Prime Rib - Medium. It was clearly NOT Medium but Medium well. Couldn't find our waitress. Don't walk run to eat at this location! We walked in, and we were greeted by Matt. Matt is young and energetic and made us immediately feel like family. He was amazing to our twin boys and handed them the cutest kids' menus complete with crayons and masks! He sat us in a booth that was big enough for us, and all our stuff parents will understand the luxury in this! Matt took our drink order ( they have a bar!). Then our amazing waitress, Jill, came over to check on us. We weren't ready to order yet ( remember we have twins). It took Jill checking on us 3x times before we were ready to order, each time she did it with a smile and made us feel like we had known her forever! Matt served our drinks and discreetly asked if the kids could have lollipops ( which was so nice!). Now, onto the food, it is fabulous! I got a burger and it was so big I could only eat half of it! My husband ordered the crab Louie ( it's huge and all fresh crab!). Matt and Jill came back to check on our table multiple times each time they chatted a bit with us, which was so kind considering I'm sure they were very busy. I had the most unbelievably amazing experience at this restaurant ever all due to Juan Leach. He was the first to greet us upon entering with a warm welcome and radiant smile. We made him aware the order was to go. He immediately got the manager to take our order as he doesn't work the register. As we waited for our food Juan went on with his other many tasks. He's one of the best multitaskers I've ever seen. He cleaned the restrooms while wishing departing customers a good night, greeting and seating incoming customers, checking to see if my order was ready. He did all of this with a smile. Holy moly, oh no turn around run don't walk. Disaster zone. The waitress. Keeps giving excuses about the cook being stressed out. We are literally the only two people in here. I got a prime dip sandwich. But it came with no dipping sauce. That took 10 minutes. Plus 20 to even get the food this is nothing like the Elmers in Palm Springs. I stood in the lobby for about 5 minutes before I was noticed, and when I did get seated the waitress was apologizing to two other tables (which were the only customers) about having only one cook and how their food would take even longer. I just ordered a burger (which was good, not bad and well cooked) but took about 45 minutes to get. The waitress was adorable and the two people I interacted with seemed great, but the place felt pretty barren.
