I'm a regular here, because they consistently offer great bargains. Even my Kansas in-laws were impressed when they found men's shirts discounted to $3. Clothes move off the racks very quickly in this shop. Some of the items are very pricey -- jeans that sell for $250 new cost half that here, but it's still too much for me. Still, if your taste and your budget don't match, you can come here for trendy accessories as well as high-quality designer suits and bags. I stop by regularly and check their markdowns, which are frequent. My most recent prize is a tailored navy Ann Taylor suit, on sale for $20. read more

I called on the phone asking about selling some high quality menswear and other assorted items. The guy on the phone was not very warm and inviting. He said I'd have to leave my stuff there for 4-5day to look at it and they'd get back to me with their interests. Please..days? I have about 12-15 items. Bought a pair of Joe's Jeans for the summer here for 18 bucks! Usually good quality, but it's worth going to the basement for most of the cheapie buys. I also bought a nice Banana Republic wool peacoat here (not super worn) for 30 bucks. Good to go when you have some function to go to and want to look and feel suave. eliott's was the place where i started to swear off buying non reduced clothing. you do have to be picky here, however, because you can find similar mdse. for considerably less elsewhere. that being said, some designer label finds have been stellar for me. a $45 louis vuitton satchel that needed a little repair, a coupla dkny jackets and a great suede coat, a diane von furstenberg still originally tagged skirt, all hovering around the $30 mark. i also routinely buy my suede and leather skirts and cashmere sweaters here, esp. after the slash reductions. it's not unusual to find clothes that have never been worn. sharon, the owner, has always been amazingly friendly to me, unlike her sons who routinely run the broadway store. i mean, they always look like bored boys who would rather be watching sports on hdtv. but a visit to elliots is still always something i look forward to. read more

Great store. Sharon is the owner and will go out of her way to make you feel comfortable. Always has a smile and quick to say hello. Greg, her husband, is an old world greek who is a sarcastic sonofagun, but he is helpful and funny to talk to if you know his personality. Great store, great selection. I wish the mens selection had more summer clothes right now, but Sharon said she is getting a ton of designer items next week. If there is something not there that you want, just leave your name and they are quick to call back when it arrives. I picked up three Armani suits that looked brand new for 150 each. I would have paid thousands for new and i did not want to settle for second best for some lesser label. Great store, great prices, and a very friendly and sweet owner i was shocked to see some of the negative reviews from a few disgruntled shoppers. You need to remember that some shoppers or customers are not always playing with a "full deck." I'm kind of surprised to see negative reviews of this store because my own experience has been so overwhelmingly positive but if that's how people feel, ALL THE MORE FOR ME THEN. Granted, I'm more likely to shop the Broadway location because that's where I consign but I like the Lincoln Park store too. I get fantastic deals on beautiful clothes every time I shop at either location. Clover Canyon, Marc Jacobs, Eskandar, Ted Baker, Brunello Cucinelli, Nanette Lepore, Missoni, Loro Piana, Alice & Olivia, Armani...get into my closet! No one working at either store has ever been anything but nice to me, ever. I don't take it personally if they don't accept everything I drop off because the point is for both myself and the store to make money, and if they don't think their clientele is going to be interested in a given item then there isn't really a reason for them to take it---and I'd rather have it somewhere else where it would have a better chance of selling anyway. I consign at a few places around town, including Trends which was mentioned in someone else's review, and it's very rare for an establishment to take everything a consignor brings in. Sometimes it's not the right fit for their customer base, sometimes it's out of season, sometimes they have a ton of (for example) blazers and don't really have any room for more, sometimes a particular style of garment isn't doing well so a store is reluctant to take more black pants/wild prints/pointy-toed pumps/whatever but that's what you brought in. Sometimes it's a brand that they accept but not the right piece for their clientele. I would rather work with a selective establishment that picks the merchandise best suited to their customers than one that just takes anything and everything, from both a consignor's perspective and a shopper's perspective. I'm looking forward to shopping here again next time I'm in the neighborhood. Maybe next week when the weather is nice! read more

I generally like this place. It IS a consignment store so you do have to be picky. Some of the clothes seem overpriced but there are great bargains to be had- especially downstairs in the clearance section. Its true the people working here are not very talkative/super friendly, but that's ok with me. Sometimes I want to be left alone to shop in peace. I go here from time to time- sometimes I find great items at great prices and sometimes I don't. I think its worth a look. read more

I went into Elliott's Consignment today with two bags of clothes, a box of shoes and a bag of jewelry. One of the owners (older woman with blondish hair) started looking through my clothes and said, "I don't buy any Limited or Ann Taylor Loft items." Now, most of my items were from there but I did have items from Banana Republic and some other stores as well. She starts getting pissy with me that she doesn't want to waste time looking through my things that she probably won't want to buy anything. She takes one of my bags and tosses the clothes on the floor and starts looking through more of my stuff and makes noise and is tsking and says yeah yeah I won't want to buy any of this and I said it isn't all from Limited or Loft...she didn't seem to care. She tossed my stuff back in the bags and was like well you just threw the stuff in here you didn't even put it in the bags nicely. Um...I knew she would be going through the bags to see if she wanted to buy anything why would I put the clothes in there nicely what would be the point??? Did she want me to have had my clothes pressed and on hangers on a rolling rack...I was aghast! I said to her well I guess I should have brought my clothes to a consignment store on the south side. Needless to say she didn't buy any of my clothes, she didn't even bother to look at the shoes or jewelry I wanted to sell and acted like I was totally wasting her time. The store on the inside looks really crappy and the layout is awful. The owner isn't running some high end boutique in Beverly Hills. I will never go there again. read more

After I moved here I purged out my closet and had a lot of gently or never used things, some still had tags. They were so helpful and told me what would be good for selling, and I've sold a few things thru them and of course had to peruse the clothes and bags, great selection, good sizes and the staff is so friendly and nice, I like to hit here before I head downtown to shop, great finds on designer clothes for non designer prices. read more

Great locations but terrible consignment system. Upon drop off I had to leave my items only to come back after they finally sorted them after about 3 days to see what they wanted to keep. No online consignor system to check balance and when it was time to pick up I called Saturday to pick up Thursday and it still wasn't ready at either store. The lady on Lincoln (Ms. Elliot) was at least apologetic but the man on Broadway was a real condescending jerk with a b@@@@ attitude. Won't be going back if you want a real consignment experience go to Trends Oak Park they have an updated system and flows beautifully. The prices are less but somehow I made so much more with what they sold. read more

One of the clerks that work here is quite rude. He acts like your presence in his store is a disruption to his day and that he's doing you a favor by being there. On top of this, i saw him accuse an innocent woman of stealing when she was simply holding the item while she was shopping. When the would-be patron asked why she was being accused, the clerk was harsh and dismissive, ending with the statement, "if you don't like it, you can leave." Being a former consignement shop owner in Minneapolis, I know the painstaking steps to run a superb store, and Elliotts do more than this. This is a wonderful store with great inventory and competitive prices. To the other reviewer of this store, this IS NOT thrift!!! They can charge higher prices because there inventory IS THAT GOOD!!! They are in a high priced, high rent neighborhood, anyone with a business sense would know this and that they are a bit more pricey than a suburban consignment shop. But like I said, fabulous merchandise, fabulous store at fabulous prices. Make sure you go in the basement to see the $4 racks, some real good purchases. If I could give them negative stars, I would. Horrible. On Thurs Oct 19th, I called first thing in the morning about a bag that was online and asked if it was still available. The OWNER told me it was and that I could make the purchase via paypal and he'd get it shipped out to me. We went over my mailing address, told me he'd send me the tracking info and I made the payment following our phone call. I called back that afternoon to confirm when it would be delivered since a signature would be required. He assured me that it would make it there by Monday or Tuesday at the latest and that everything would be great. Even though I read some negative reviews about this store, I trusted that I would receive the bag as promised with no problems. Saturday rolls around and with no tracking info still, I call the store. I speak to a store associate and explain that I'm looking for the tracking info and how happy I am to be able to shop from them and find such a great store online. She takes my information and says she'll have someone call me back with the tracking info. However, no phone call returned and I get an email on Monday from Paypal that my money has been refunded. No explanation from the store owner, no apology and he WILL NOT answer my phone call or messages. Who operates like this??? Someone who clearly has no regard or appreciation for people willing to shop in his store. As a retail store owner for many many years, I have never and would never treat someone like this. When I'm back in Chicago, I will definitely NOT be visiting this establishment and will spend my money else where. read more
