I live in Old Town and am lucky to be able to frequent this sartorial wonderland. In the last two years I have created for myself a fashionable, and designer, wardrobe that I never would have had the opportunity to build without this jewel of a shop! Merci Beau Coup benefits Mercy Boys and Girls home. They are not a typical consignment shop and are not profiteers. Cute, small shop that sells a variety of secondhand clothes for men and women. The quality of the clothing overall is high, and there is a good mix of everyday brands with higher-end designer options. I think shoppers age 30+ would find clothing here to suit their style. The prices are not as low as a place like Goodwill, but I'd say the quality of the clothes overall is much higher. I paid $25 each for two cocktail dresses in perfect condition. read more

It was just after lunch while passing through Lincoln Park on a recent Saturday, and my friend and I decided to pass the time with a little browsing through boutiques. The Mercy Boutique popped up on Yelp when we did a search, and after learning that it not only sells high-end consignments in a boutique-like setting, but that it also supports charity, we decided to check it out. Down a small set of stairs, it's tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the Main Street. Don't forget to check in on Yelp for a special offer, then browse away. The clothing is clean, nicely presented, and the racks are not overstuffed. I saw a number of high-end brands while I was there (most notably a gorgeous quilted Burberry jacket that I'm still thinking of), and clothing for women as well as men and children. There's a small changing room if you want to try things on while you're there as well. They had some cute items, maybe a little more pricey than what I'm used to (but that could be the norm in a bigger city like Chicago), and it would definitely be worth stopping in to see what they have when you're in the neighborhood. Cuuuuu-uuuuuuute! I was pretty excited to get a resale shop in the neighborhood because a) seriously there is no place to buy shoes nearby, and b) you can often times find a lot of cute one-of-a-kind vintage finds at retail shops. Mercy Beaucoup is a clean, well-appointed, adorable shop on Wells Street. Just make sure you look for the stairs for the "garden level" shops on the east side of the street. I was delighted to see that they carried shoes by Salvatore Ferragamo, Tory Burch, and Kate Spade. Their prices are reasonable (very reasonable). Best part of all is that it supports Mercy Home for Boys & Girls and is staffed by friendly young men and women from Mercy Home. Great organization. Super-cute store. And, did I mention that they're having a sale for the summer? 20-30% off. Heeeey-o! read more

What a cute little store! I love how their store benefits children. They only accept donations, so please donate your clothing here to a great cause! They have a special rack with "trendy" clothing that was picked by their college students. When I went, I saw a lot of clothing around the LOFT/Francesca's/J Brand/H&M quality. There was an occasional very designer piece of clothing (Valentino). Prices are fair compared to what I've seen on ThredUp or other online retailers for secondhand clothing. Soo glad I found this boutique! I've been here a handful of times now, and I always left with a few goodies from Mercy Beaucoup. Once I found a Burberry scarf for $50! The people who work here are always very sweet and helpful. Make sure you come towards the end of the week as they get new shipments on Tuesday and slowly unpacked them. But the manager lady told me to check in weekly because you never know what goodies you would find here. I am a little disappointed with their xs and small selections here though. They seem to get taken quickly. I guess you just have to come at the right time to score them. Join their email list to find out sales event. I scored some beautiful Dries Van Noten shoes here for $50 (30% off sale) and a women's suit for $11 (75% off sale) and saw lots of other nice, reasonably priced items. There is a great winter clothing sale going on right now, so I highly recommend stopping in. It's pleasant and not at all overwhelming. read more

My favorite shop in Old Town. Great VERY GENTLY used designer clothing. I've found many deals here including AG and 7 For All Mankind jeans for under $40. My mom also scored a brand new J. Crew cashmere cardigan for $20! They are always getting new merchandise, I try to stop in weekly! read more

I know these types of places are hit and miss in terms of finding things that are worth buying. This time my visit was a miss-partly because there wasn't a great selection and also there was only one dressing room. I waited at least 10 minutes before giving up and walking out without a purchase. Based on my experience it's not worth a return. read more

I found this vintage store and it was perfect. They have an organised space where you can search through racks of goodies were you can score great deals. They are helpful and do not harass you to buy, to the contrary, you feel the freedom to gaze and inspect the pieces you find appealing. read more

When I can both find a deal on a quality item and give to charity at the same time, I'm a happy lady. I stumbled upon this resale shop and was pleased with the quality of items, the prices, and the cleanliness and presentation of the store. There is a chain of events of how I began shopping at Mercy Beaucoup...first I got engaged which led me to join weight watchers (wanted to lose Beaucoup weight for the big day). As I began to lose weight, I didn't want to spend money on full priced clothes that may be temporary. I was between sizes and didn't know how much weight I would lose (or gain back!!). Enter Mercy Beaucoup. I found some great clothes during my weight loss journey - naively thinking these would hold me over until I could buy full priced clothes. I am now stable at a size 4 and cannot seem to shop anywhere else. What first seemed like a temporary "fix" is now a necessity. I always find great goodies whenever I stop by. You simply cannot go wrong in this store. Too many designers to mention and the condition of the clothes is excellent - very lightly used and in very many cases, not worn at all!! I have found wonderful suits, dresses from coveted New York designers, jeans, shoes, scarfs, purses, jewelry. And the best part is all sales go to a good cause - children in need. This is my best friends neighborhood and I found it via YELP for a recent girls weekend. Right near La Fournette and a slight step down from the sidewalk. The clothes were beautiful and well priced. I found many great deals. this has become a real go-to. The prices are well in-line for a consignment shop, but not rock bottom prices as appropriate for the quality of clothing. Highly recommend. It's a small shop, but we could have spent quite a bit of time here looking through the treasures. read more

This place is amazing! The quality and brands are incredible and the prices are really good. I recently picked up Hugo Boss, Armani and lesser known European brands for a small fraction of retail. Everything is in great condition. Everyone that lives in Chicago should keep this shop in their rotation and I would definitely recommend tourist or visitors check out this store out. It is in a great neighborhood. The real hook - the money goes to at-risk children in need. I am not sure it can get much better. read more

What a great shop. I discovered this last spring (2012) while running an errand and have been in frequently ever since. I've found many wonderful things and the best deal probably was a pair of Trina Turk pants that fit me like a glove and with the extra sale going on that day cost me $18!!! Amazing...I live in the neighborhood so I stop in at least once a month just to see if there's anything else for me - more often than not there has been!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I was so happy to find a place to donate some of my nicer things that I just wasn't wearing anymore since I quit work. And I LOVE shopping there. I found a really cute winter coat (wool) last fall in perfect condition for $35! Talbots is the low-end here and the prices are dirt cheap. My sentiment about this shop is reflected in all the great reviews going back to 2011. It's amazing that the quality of the items and management of the shop is consistently top drawer.
