I did buy some cute items from here, but they were def overpriced. I love supporting smaller businesses, but the prices have gotten a little out of touch with reality recently. The thrift stores in Cali and NY have more appropriately priced items and a better selection/quality, despite much higher costs of living. The thing that's really pissing me off is the attitude of the employees - unfriendly and pretentious. The last several times I've come in, the music has been obnoxiously loud. Ok cool, didn't know I was walking into a nightclub. I didn't walk in with a headache, but I'm def walking out with one! Not having an actual full sized mirror in the fitting rooms is very annoying. This NEEDS to be fixed. I don't want to walk where everyone sees me to check my outfit out. Some items are a bit see thru, I really don't want the entire store seeing me half naked. read more

Disclaimer: I didn't shop here! Nor do I shop much in vintage stores to know the price range. This review is mainly regarding the aesthetic. I think this is definitely a store to walk into a browse as they have so much 2000s and 80s styled stuff. They scent the air with incense burning in the back room. There's cute hippie earrings, woke stickers, cute pastel chokers and hats of all kinds of brands as well as jackets n vintage clothing (seems more like pop styled though). The workers are dressed fashionably to match the store style too and will generally stay out of your way unless you need help. My favorite vintage store I've been to thus far. They have an atypical curation based on quality and timelessness. Most vintage stores in the city rarely provide a unique take on fashion, finding pieces that will sell easily and could easily be found on amazon. Kokorokoko has serious taste behind their choices. They care about each piece as it fits in its respective style, not trying to create a store that caters to that simple, overdone, 90s Pinterest style. The staff is very friendly; every time I've been they hold my items in a fitting room while I shop. Large collection of random nick-knacks that are perfect for gifts. And never forget to look at the sunglasses before you leave :). Pricing is a tad high, but soo worth it for the quality you receive. read more

This used to be my favorite vintage thrift store. Ive bought many things from here and have also left behind a lot of things due to the fact that this place OVERPRICES THE HELL out of their stuff. I say this because I just bought a $68 dollar belt that I found on amazon for $15. Thats so not cool of you guys, if you can't outsource cool stuff for your thrift then maybe you should try harder. Not to mention the service needs work, the employees are always gawking at you the entire time you're there when the place is the size of a car garage. Never stepping foot in here again. After faxing paperwork at Copy Max, which sits a couple stores down, I was drawn to a couple vintage 90's items sitting in the window while walking pass, which prompted me to stop in. Dropping in to Kokorokoko was a reminisce to some of my late childhood years and memories in life in the 1990s. Memories such as when we had "The" original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. When Hulkamania ran wild all over the World Wrestling Federation! As Hulk Hogan use to say - "Whatcha Gonna Do, Brother?" Those times when it was okay for guys to wear mesh shirts, plus stone wash jacket and jeans, yes! And how could I forget the boom boxes w/cassette tapes playing true funky music, and of course when LA Gear shoes was "it" because they lit up, as well as LA Gear and Tommy Hilfiger clothing brands being at their peak! Hehe, get my gist? I'm a 80s baby! And if you want to relive those 80's & 90's memories, Kokorokoko sells tons of vintage items & clothing that will help you reminisce. I'm always intrigued by places like Kokorokoko along with thrift stores, so I'm quite positive that I will return in the future to see what updated vintage items they have to offer. Probably the coolest thrift shop I've been to. It's a bit on the pricier side for sure but everything's dry cleaned so you can wear it right out of the store if you want without that yucky thrift shop smell. They have a lot of name brand stuff, if you're usually interested in consignment but without the stuffiness from a hoity-toity place. They have cool stickers/buttons and everything's very colorful and in-fashion! read more

I will start my review off by stating the store was very clean and not extremely cluttered like most vintage stores tend to be. As someone who loves vintage t-shirts I naturally gravitated to the shirt rack upon entering the store. I was a little disappointed that almost every shirt seemed to be a diy bootleg or a newer reproduction done on vintage blank shirts. I can only assume these shirts are made by the store itself. Of course when shopping at an overpriced vintage store you might expect it to be overpriced, and I did, but I was a little shocked that they were trying to charge $70+ for items from the early 2000's in poor condition. That's fine, it's a business and it might seem like I'm being harsh but the manager/owner's (I don't know his actually job title it just seemed like he assumed one of these 2 rolls) behavior makes my critique justifiable in my opinion. My girlfriend had 2 items in her hand, one of them being a post card. He came up to her and said "I'll hold on to this by the register until you're ready to check out" and grabbed it out of her hand before she could say anything. Maybe he was trying to be considerate by allowing her to use both hands to shop, but it seemed aggressive and inappropriate to both of us. Only a bearded male wearing a shirt ironically reading "legalize it" featuring a cartoonish bundle of marijuana cigarettes would act so strangely to his customers. Also someone should probably tell him they already legalized it. read more

The space inside was small. Although it's small there are a lot of products they have inside. They have different kinds and designs of cups. This cap was for boys only. They also have a jacket, sweatshirt, shirt, pants, shorts, underwear, bag and many more. Their clothes are hanging on the edge of the area. While there are tables and hanging clothes also in the middle part. I didn't find any clothes for myself. But if you're a boy you can choose clothes here since a lot of their products are for men. They have a dressing room if you want to wear your chosen clothes. They have a mini counter where you can pay your purchase. The staff looks nice and good. I'm with my sister and she's busy talking to her friend about their work. While they were talking I excused myself and told my sister that I would go to this store. Their exterior design was not inviting but you will be curious about what products they have inside. When I enter inside I'm amazed how they have a lot of different products. They have an inventory of caps, bags, underwear, shorts, and clothes. I went to the inventory of caps. I planned to buy my boyfriend a cap because he loves wearing caps. I choose a color pf black and white with a design in the middle. It was cheaper than what I expected. I thought it would be expensive because of its good quality. Besides the cap I also bought him a white shirt. It has a design in the middle. The quality of its fabric was cotton so I bought it because it will be comfortable to wear. read more

This store is interesting! It was our first time to visit the store and we regret we did not go here sooner. It is the usual thrift store but unlike to the other thrift store we've been into, this store is clean and well-organized, as in everything is really organized and you could see easily and clearly the items that you might like. Most of the items are the vintage clothes in 20's and frankly speaking some are mot in a good condition but most of the clothes are still good and beautiful. We liked their selection of jeans and shoes. The prices are fair and reasonable too. We will not hesitate to be back again some other time. read more

This is one of my absolute favorite vintage shops to go to. It's retro and unique; it has a personality of its own. When you first enter the store there's a bunch of tables with very cool Knick knacks such as old retro sunglasses, jacket sacks, garbage pail kids stickers, among other very cool finds. Regarding the clothing, it's moderately priced but a lot of the clothes are in really great condition for having been used. Definitely worth checking out! I found this store while walking down the street. At first I entered this shop for window shopping but when some clothes grabbed my attention I bought it. This was a vintage look. The price was cheaper so you will save a lot of money. If you're a fashionista you can choose this place. They have different sunglasses. I like one of them so I bought one pair of sunglasses. I also bought an over sized shirt which was perfect for my baggy pants. The staff was nice and friendly. She knows a lot when it comes to fashion. So she helps me to find what is good in me. The only problem for me was that some of the clothes were not high quality. So I will give only four stars for this. read more

This is small and quaint little shop. I would not call it thrifting , however, because of their high prices for basic items. Most of thEir collection is made of cheap items being resold for higher prices and printed tees sold for 35+. I suppose the price is what you pay for an item that may be hard to get.. but the items are not that rare oR apecial to be thhose prices. read more

I am absolutely IN LOVE with the decor of this cute little vintage shop, it really brings me back! Every time I'm in the Wicker Park area I make a mandatory stop here if nothing else just to browse the items and enjoy the really nice decor of this place. Though I really do enjoy how awesome this place is decorated, I usually tend to browse the items for sale (more than I make purchases), get fashion ideas for my own wardrobe, to then go home and search for them online and find them at cheaper prices most of the time. I would love to give Kokorokoko a complete five star review, but I'm only giving a four star review because of how expensive this place is. I am very into vintage clothing, toys, housewares, ect., but this has to be one of the most expensive places I've been to that sells those items. I'd really love if Kokorokoko catered a lot more than they do to the punk/goth/new wave fashion that was such a huge part of the 70's, 80's, and 90's. It's kinda easy to find a bunch of neon colored things from back in the day (which is really cool), but where's all of the alternative clothing, jewelry, and accessories from those decades? Don't get me wrong...I have found some fingerless gloves, studded bracelets, patches with punk bands, a few punk pins, and really overpriced vintage punk band shirts, but that's not enough for me. I'd like to see a nicely sized section of those kind of items here. If those types of vintage items were carried here in a much bigger volume, I'd be here frequently and be more than willing to dish some extra money for these items. I love how they have really cute free Kokorokoko buttons at the register, and that they carry hard to find Sailor Moon items when they can! I don't really like how almost all of the non clothing items that are displayed here are not for sale, and that a good portion of the store is just vintage trading cards. Trading cards are cool, but I think it'd be cooler to have more of an array of different items. read more

Seems like their strategy is to cannibalize places like Goodwill/Salvation Army and then market the stuff to zoomers as "y2k" at the most expensive "thrift store" prices I have ever seen. Awesome place! Full of heart warming nostalgia. I visited in search of 80s clothes for a fundraiser I was attending. I was immediately asked if I needed help from a super friendly staff member. After showing me a couple items she decided to ask one of the owners for some additional ideas. This woman was amazing! We started putting together some amazing silk shirt - stone washed jean combos, threw in some flashy sweaters, and she kept offering other beautifully ridiculous combos that nailed the decade to a T! I can't say enough good things about this place, including the staff and the owner. Truly a gem that has all the history you hate to love having lived through. Thank you Kokorokoko!! read more

I don't get the hype. I'm a thritfy girl. I rarely buy anything full price. I scour sales. I love vintage stores. Cheap, cute finds at amazing prices. But I was not impressed with Kokorokoko. The decor is kitchsy, very cool, but I was turned off once I walked in. It smelled like Salvation Army, the goods looked like Salvation Army goods, but the price tags were not Salvation Army prices. $16 dollars for a necklace? $22 for a tank top? $30 for a pair of shoes? (adorable yes, but they've been around the block a time or three ) I'm sorry, but if I'm spending over $20 on a shirt, it better not look worn and torn. I love vintage, but I don't dig dirty, scuffed or well worn clothes. I can find great deals at retail stores for these prices. read more

Kokorokoko is the best of the best vintage in Chicago. Seriously, I absolutely love this place! Every time I come in, I am tempted by something: a colorful 80s crop top, a 90s Bulls jersey, a floral romper, a funky oversized sweater...the list goes on and on...My latest find was a purple jumpsuit on sale for Halloween! Sure, the clothes here is more expensive than a thrift store. But the staff has done the sifting for you, and curated this fantastic selection of unique and great-condition items. The staff is very friendly, and very nice about suggesting ways to style an item or recommending other pieces. Kokorokoko is awesome! It's a must-visit for lovers of 80s and 90s fashion! read more

First off, the name is the bomb! We were in Wicker Park going from one resale/vintage store to another and was not really impressed. We had a friend that was visiting from out of town that told us his friend recommended Kokorokoko in Ukranian Village. It was a pretty good trek all the way there but it was definitely worth the distance! I walked through the white wooden door and this place immediately took me back. I saw a rack of snapbacks right away (I am a BIG sucker for hats) and copped a Chicago Bulls 3-peat for only $10! I loved the ambience of the store. They were playing great house music! I saw hammer pants galore and peeped out vhs tapes of MTV grind (you know this show if you're a 90's kid). I go to the back of the store (it's a little cozy store) and saw racks of windbreaker jackets and sweaters. First think I saw was this huge poster of Prince with his jewels covered up by some skimpy speedo. B.U.M. equipment? Man I am totally reminiscing. I found two jackets that I fell in love with. I found a Cubs Starter windbreaker that was only going for $33, but then I found a Members Only jacket for $26. I ended up picking the Members Only cuz the Fiance liked it better and it was more versatile. I went to pay for my items and I guess the Members Only jacket was priced wrong. I saw the same jacket in black priced at $33, but they still honored the $26 which I thought was really cool. I am a yelp newbie so I am in this check-in on my mobile phone crazy mode. I checked in and there was a special check in for 10% off your purchase which I thought was really cool because that had never happened before and the lady at the register (Sasha , one of the owners) was really excited about it too! She said that no one ever uses it, so that made me feel special as well. I definitely had an amazing experience at this store and highly highly recommend this place to anyone that loves to go vintage shopping. These guys go out and hand pick their findings, so what you get is unique. The prices are very fair and the store is well put together. Anyone that hates on the store must be uptight, so go bring your first world problems elsewhere. =) Two HUGE thumbs up with a soda on the side. read more

I really hate throwing another middle of the road review into the currently boiling pot of enthusiasm for Kokorokoko, but unfortunately this place simply doesn't cut it on multiple levels. Obviously the whole 80's/90's focus of their wares is fun and I can see where it's enjoyed - certainly one can see young upstarts who follow Salt N' Pepa for fashion tips chapter and verse really enjoying what's going on here. What doesn't really work are their prices versus the quality of where the tags are being affixed. The shoes are piled haphazardly into a pile and look as if they'd need a few spins in the washer and dryer before having odor eaters put into them - scuffed up, worn down and barely up to par next to comparable pairs one may find in a thrift store. The clothing tends to face the same issue - the prices don't match the tatters in some of these pieces (which by the way DO NOT give them either character or retro cache. What they keep here for sell is for the most part, tacky to the extreme. Sure it highlights the eras Kokorokoko is attempting to highlight - but it's certainly not emphasizing the best parts. We're talking a pre-American Apparel day glo nightmare where flat tops are fashionable and the most quirky thing in hip hop is a jovial guy wearing giant clocks providing comic relief to otherwise serious and foreboding lyrical rhymes. These clothes are suitable for costume parties where you want to look like a character from Juice or Krush Groove. The staff on hand are great and extremely helpful and friendly while the store itself is again, in keeping with the 80's/90's theme a very fun and enjoyably set up establishment. I was in Chicago for a long weekend on a girls trip and decided to go off by myself for a little vintage/thrift shopping. I just so happened to stumble across this gem thanks to the great reviews on Yelp and figured I had to stop in. This is by far the best vintage shop I've ever been to. Most "vintage" places in my area are just a bunch of polyester and floral print, but this place had a fantastic selection of t-shirts, jackets, shoes, purses, sunglasses...really anything you could think of. It is all well organized and clean. I got a sweet leather map printed bag for $22--I've had it less than a week and have already gotten tons of compliments. My only complaint is that it is a little pricey--come on, $28 for a tshirt? But lets be honest, I'm probably going to pay it anyway. read more
