We walked by Elliott Consignment on our way to lunch at The Crepe Shop. I was drawn to the lovely window display and the Coca-Cola jacket (for my husband). So after lunch, we made a point to come back. The place is small, but clean and organized. There weren't that many customers while we were there, so it didn't feel cramped. I was quite impressed by the men's section. Nice selection of like new, high-end brands and priced well overall. The women's section was ok, but most of our finds were in in men's. Sadly, the Coca-Cola jacket was a size too small for my husband. But I found him a great shirt, while my son picked up a pair of Patagonia shorts and a vintage sweater. My kids bought me a Vans quilted jacket to help when walking in the Chicago winds. (It was perfect as I wore it almost every day!) The girl at the counter was very nice. We paid in cash and Venmo for the additional discount. We will definitely try to make our way back here, at our next visit to Chicago. read more

No idea how "hey how are you, I have some Allen Edmonds shoes I'd like you to look at" pissed him off so badly. "Leave them here, fill this paper out, and the ladies will look at them. I guess I looked confused because then he went with " Look it's how we've done it for 30 years, if you want to come here when the ladies appraise it, forget about it" Gave this place one star because they do have clothes, just nothing you'd want as a Male under 65. read more

From a seller's perspective, I would definitely recommend Elliott Consignment. I have been buying and selling clothes like nobody's business the past few years especially since quarantine drove me deeper into the world of internet resale (hey, we all need a hobby). Selling with this shop has been my best consignment experience in Chicago. Things sell faster and more reliably than I can often sell myself -- actually faster and more reliably than the big online consignment sites in my experience. The 50% cut of profits is honestly generous for the industry and because the shop prices items reasonably and doesn't slash prices willy-nilly out of desperation, the payment usually ends up higher than I would expect, which is always a pleasant surprise. I've had good experiences with the owner as well. He answers all my questions promptly and transparently. He is patient in putting up with my type a personality and graciously offered me extra credit for compensation when store staff made a minor mistake with my dropoff once. Overall, coming from someone who has an ungodly amount of clothes and devotes a substantial amount of time to doing various things with them, I'd highly recommend this place for making the most of those you wish to pass on. read more

The owner, who I believe is the bald guy with a beard, is everything but nice. Never greets, smiles, acknowledges. Zero!!!!!! I have brought clothes over the years and must confess he sold most of them. However, there were occasions where some were not sold but not seen in the shop either. When I pointed out the sale materialized and a credit was given. He did not like to be questioned about it. The last times I brought clothes to him he rejected them all saying did not see a commercial value. We are talking high-end labels like Gucci or Alexander McQueen that we're not even worn. I was walking down Broadway while on vacation with my family when I spotted the CUTEST DVF handbag in the window. My husband, mother and I decided to stop and browse for a little bit. We only had about half an hour left on our parking meter and wanted to kill some time and I secretly prayed that the purse in the window was within my budget. The shop is small, and a little crowded feeling. But it wasn't messy and, for the most part, it was very organized. Trust me you WILL find some gems. There were some jackets that I totally would have snatched up if they were in my size. And some beautiful designer purses as well. I spotted a Doonie & Burke purse that was going to be my back up purse if the first bag in the window didn't work out. We made our way upstairs and I inquired about the purse. The gentleman at the cash register was a complete sweetheart. He told me how much the bag was, and the informed me that it was half off! I couldn't get "I'll take it!" out soon enough! He encouraged me to look it over before I made a final choice. The bag was in almost mint condition! Aside from a few crumbs inside there was virtually nothing wrong with it. Not a scuff or a tear. Simply gorgeous. Overall it was a lovely experience and if I was local I would be in here ALL the time. If you live nearby consider yourself lucky and please stop by! Wide selection, fair pricing, pleasant vibe, and great ownership. My friend and I stumbled across Elliott Consignment while being tourists in Chicago for a few weekdays in February 2018. We both noted the lack of male consignment shops back home in Boston and thought it could be fun to check the place out. We ended up at this shop 3 (maybe 4) times in 2 days, leaving with a couple button down shirts, a jacket, and a pair of shoes. In addition to the purchases, we left feeling welcome and taken care of. Pete gave honest thumbs up/down when we asked for advice on a piece's fit or look, and was a generally quality person. He was easy to chat with, too, whether it was talking shop about the family business or getting some recommendations for food and things to do around the city. Hopefully all of our fanboying wasn't too strange, but regardless Elliott Consignment was one unexpectedly bright spot from our short Chicago stay. read more

I recently bought some shoes from these people on grailed last week. I constantly asked them if they shipped my item and they claim they did. I checked the status of my package on USPS every single day and till this day it is still on "USPS AWAITING ITEM" which means they have not even received the item from them and i asked for my refund of $143.33. and because i gave them a bad review they dont want to give me my refund which i find very funny. well here is another bad review. I have contacted paypal and filed a claim and will get my money back that way. Simple as that. All i asked them for was my refund and they do not want to issue me my refund. I have called them multiple times on different days and they did not answer my calls at all. They deserve this bad rating for the poor customer service i was given. I hope they see this and they know they can't say anything at all because they know that they are in the wrong ‍. Way to treat you're customers! read more

~Resale of men's jackets experience only~ I stopped in with a few men's coats that I wanted to sell (one leather, one vintage suede, one winter and a duck hunting jacket (never used for hunting). A gentleman named Pete was running the store and explained the process: fill out the contact form and within 24hrs you will get and email stating how many items they will take. They will display the items on shelf for 90 days with possible month-by-month extensions if needed/wanted. If they sell, they take 50% of the value they sold them for. If they do not sell then you can pick them up or choose to have them donate the items. (That also pertains to items you drop off but l they choose not to try and sell on the floor.) Friendly and fair. I expect I'll have an update to this review within 90 days.... read more

A very clean, relatively upscale resale store. In my book, it's great, as my husband and I drop off clothes here all the time, and there aren't many resale stores that take men's clothing as well near us. It's easy, you can do so at any time, they never make you feel bad or make you stay to go through them. You receive an email afterward letting you know what they kept and that you can pick up the rest of they'll donate them for you. Fair warning - they keep very select few items as it is a higher end resale store, however you get top dollar for the items. Also, you have to be diligent about calling or stopping in to see if you're owed any $. I actually haven't done a whole lot of shopping in the store since I don't normally shop resale, however, I do believe it's a great spot to find some really nice designer items at a much lower cost! read more

I walked in the store today and didn't see anyone. I continued to look at items in the store and not until I made my way to the back of the store did I see a man sitting behind the counter. He didn't speak to me until I spoke to him. I saw a Louis Vuitton hand bag behind the counter where he was sitting. I asked him how much it was. His response to me was "everything behind me is expensive, but there are some other purses over there." My purpose for going there was to look for designer shoes and pursHe never offered to help me or ask if I was looking for anything in particular. Maybe he wasn't in the mood to sell anything today. Needless to say I will NEVER go back. For your information , I visited both locations the same day. I think this place is great and because I've had such success with drop offs/selling my items, I don't have any other consignment shop experience to compare to Elliott. I go through my closet 2-3 times per year, take in a bag or 2 and every time, I get cash back for items they have sold from my previous lot. I have not purchased items here, so I can't speak to their selection or prices. They usually keep a few nice BCBG, Tahari, Theory, Michael Stars and jeans like Joe's and Seven from my bags. I also like that they send me an email to let me know how many items they are keeping to sell and I LOVE that they donate whatever they don't sell to goodwill...saving me time that would otherwise require multiple drop offs. read more

I heart this place! You can get great designer stuff at a mere fraction of the cost. When i consider how much money I have wasted buying crap that just acts as food for my closet I am pretty sure that this was a godsend from the lords of cheap ass fashion. I've been to Elliott Consignment in Lakeview a few times, usually with my boyfriend, since their men's section is much larger than other consignment stores in the area. I dropped off some items to sell last weekend, and decided to take a look around the women's section. So glad I did! Some of their inventory does skew towards an older demographic, but I was able to find two 100% silk items (a dress and a shirt) and an awesome pair of printed pants all for just under $75. All of these items look brand new too! While places like Crossroads might have trendier items, the quality at Elliott is much better and still very reasonably priced. read more

Ok, sorry...the staff at all of the Elliott stores just IRK me. I thought maybe it was a one off thing, but after repeated trips into these stores (Lakeview and Lincoln Park locations)...it seems, they are just really unhappy, uninterested and/or snobby people. First of all, I waited approximately 5 minutes at the counter while the guy finished a PERSONAL phone call. No one else was in the store. Customer service, heard of it peeps? Also, the inventory is crammed and outdated. I am assuming there is stuff in there that has been sitting at least a year...outdated, out of style, etc etc etc. This can be overlooked for a price, but when the prices are high...eh. I can find better thrifting. If you have time/energy to rummage in the clearance basement, perhaps it may be worth checking out, but I'd skip this place altogether and just head south to Buffalo Exchange. The stock is better, cheaper and the service is by FAR better. Boo. Hiss. They need some happiness up in here. read more

I have been consigning clothes here on and off for years. My last two experiences have not been great. When I went into the shop I noticed one of my hundred dollar, retail, Barbour shirts was in the 75% off rack. I told the girl to pull it from the floor. A day or two later I discovered it sold and I got a whopping $5 bucks for a shirt that was in very condition. Not happy about that I asked when they decide to lower the price and was told there is not set time. After this I brought in a brand new $300 dollar Barbour coat. I asked how much is will be priced at and he said $168. I asked if he could make a note not to discount this because I don't want to "give it away". He said have too many items to keep track of and just check in periodically. Less than 2 weeks later it was sold for 35% less than what was priced at. I asked the gal about this and she said she would have the owner contact me. He never did. Years ago they did lose or misplace some of my things and they made good on it and paid me anyway. read more

Very friendly store with some great finds. A nice pair of Born swede shoes for $25 and luckily, a great pair of grey herringbone Gucci slacks for $30. There's a "beware of dog" warning, but I've never seen one in the store... As a basic room of thumb I go for clothes close in size and have them altered. Having the Gucci slacks let out cost $15 at Barry-Regent cleaners; which is a wee bit south and on the west side of the street. read more

Pretty sure these guys ripped me. Of course I cannot prove it - however I dropped off a $200 coat here to sell on consignment. They claim to have sold it for $28. Looking around the shop - each coat I looked at was $80+. A pair of ratty second hand shoes were nearly $90! Finding it very hard to believe that they actually sold my coat for as low a price as they claim. Update: well I no longer feel AS ripped off, because I had a fantastic laugh at the owner's response - Which I feel at least partly compensated. 1) The owner purports to have a crystal-clear memory of the particular transaction ("She seemed happy"?) - but went on to describe me as a 'she' - despite cropped hair and a beard haha. 2) Coat was in flawless condition. Light-years ahead of most of the crap in the store. 3) Folks can go into the store and look at their prices and judge for themselves. I think I saw some shoes that pre-date religion. read more

I definitely won't say that I love this place. Currently, I'm running one great find for about every three visits. Its strange to me that they mix in the mass produced-strip mall store items (GAP, etc) with the big ticket designer items. My best, best, best find was an ivory silk calypso-celle wrap dress that ties like a million different ways, and retails for a few hundo...but i got for under 60! Weeee!! I bought it to wear to the rehearsal dinner (yes I'm the bride [yes I'm wearing white]) as soon as I saw it, because I didn't want it to get snatched up by someone that wouldn't appreciate it as much as I do (don't ask how far in advance it was [okay, it was eleven months in advance]). The saleslady was nice enough to show me all the different ways to tie it, but she seemed bored out of her mind when I walked in, so chalk it (and my wonderful find) up to pure dumb luck. read more

This place is an amazing treasure trove of wonderful deals! Does it take a little looking? Yes. Is it a little crammed? Yes. Is the men's stuff better than the lady's selections? Yes (so I am told by my female counterpart shoppers. That being said, I love shopping here. Am I able to buy something specific I may be looking for? Of course not. It is a consignment shop. Part of the thrill of the hunt is finding great deals. And sometimes taking the gamble and item will last and be marked down before it is snatched up. Do I win all of the time? No. Missed out on a gorgeous Brooks Brothers Tuxedo that I swear must have been worn once. But I waited patiently for a Brooks Brothers Blue Shadow Stripe to fall and it did. At a certain point (I am not exactly sure when) the shop will take further reductions off their initial selling price. First 25%, then 50%, to a final 75% off their original selling price. Considering the suit I wanted was originally almost 90% off the retail price, and would need zero alterations as the pants were hemmed perfectly for me, it made sense to grab it then. But I rolled the dice decided to wait to see if the "drop" would be in my favor. 50% off was my target. Imagine my elation when I stepped in as I was passing by one day to find it down 75%. I am quite chuffed I was able to pick up this dapper suit for the price of a pocket square. Indulge yourself next time you pass by and take a peek. Juts stay out of my suit/shirt sizes. I found a small B. Makowsky handbag here, and I just about fell over when I saw it was $125!!! What?! That's really about how much the smaller B. Makowsky bags are at Nordstrom's NEW and their employees don't sit on laptops and ignore every customer who walks through the door. Plus, I was looking for summer sundresses in the basement, and the selection is fit for someone my mother's age, not to mention wayyyy too much winter stuff. I excitedly called the Lakeview location after seeing a few pairs I wanted to place on hold. I had the pleasure to speaking with Alyssa over the phone, and she was incredibly kind and accommodating. Once I got to the shop there was a treasure trove of shoes to choose from. Alyssa and Leslie went above and beyond helping me through many boots, dress shoes, and sneakers. I dropped the shoes off and got an email within 24 hours advising as to status - they kept both. They don't alert you when items are sold. You are responsible for checking on status. I was paid in cash this afternoon after calling to inquire about my account - both pairs sold in about 6 weeks. It's not fast money, and it's not particularly great money but it's a good way to get things out of your closet that you don't wear. read more
