So it's a very specific type of woman who would enjoy shopping here, but if you are that type of woman, the staff are friendly and things are well organized. I myself am more of a vintage girl and was disappointed to hear they intentionally do not sell any vintage designer, which feels like a huge miss. I've been on a consignment/vintage/thrift shopping adventure around Chicago lately to spice up my wardrobe. After hearing about this place on TikTok, I decided to walk on over and see for myself what the hype was about. Upon coming in, Cynthia warmly greeted me and let me know the entire store was 30% off as they're prepping for their end of season blow out sale (I definitely will be returning). As I perused through the store, I found a beautiful collection of luxury/higher end items from just about any designer you could think of. Think: Chanel blazer, LV scarf, Gucci blazer... you name it. I settled on this gorgeous St Johns sweater/jacket that has leather panels and a knit material elsewhere. Obsessed! Apparently they get new pieces on consignment every day, so I will definitely be coming back to see what else I can get my hands on. You must go check it out! read more

I love this store!! I always come in and find luxury pieces that are amazing prices for the brands and quality that they are. Often finding runway pieces, new clothing with the TAGS still on. There are pieces for every customer that comes in and you can even shop online on their ebay, which I love to do when I'm not in town. Love Cynthia's!!! They also have brands like IRO, Frame, etc. that are priced really well. As well as Lululemon and most of it is new. they have a $5-$20 rack which I've found Helmut lang, Prada and a bunch of rag and bone jeans on. Amazing deals and amazing service. read more

A Treasure Chest. I just Spring cleaned my closet and had some designer pieces I wanted to consign. I emailed in the morning wondering if I needed an appointment and I received a quick reply from Cynthia. I stopped by with my bags and she took a handful of my pieces. As I was waiting for her to go through my items I found some great basic pieces. The best was a Lizard Dolce & Gabbana Wallet on a Chain that was brand new. Authenticity Card in pocket in mint condition. Definitely stop by Cynthia's, allow time to go through all the racks that are organized by item and color. read more

Love Cynthia's and Cynthia! FYI: The bad "Do not shop here" reviews are INACCURATE! The sales clerk mentioned in the review does not work at Cynthia's anymore. She was let go after Cynthia found out about her rude behavior to customers. Cynthia is as nice as can be and is willing to work on price with you. Please keep in mind...that poor review is on here more than once, which really screws up Cynthia's rating and it's so untrue! I am a huge fan of the store, especially Cynthia, the store owner. She is SO nice and helpful. I was looking for an affordable wedding dress and found many that I liked....about 4. Cynthia put them all on hold for me and said, if anyone else is interested in any of the 4 I liked, she will let me know. She let me take photos of each dress, helped with finding the look I was going for and she also gave me a great seamstress contact to do my dress alterations. I highly recommend this store. Cynthia's Consignments is wonderful if you're buying gently-used high-end labels at a steep discount. On the consignment side you'd be hard pressed to offer an equally glowing review. Staff are spectacularly unhelpful -- after dropping off the clothes that pass muster, you are issued a card with an identification number and told to call periodically just to check if the items have sold. You have absolutely no input on sticker price (Cynthia's takes 50%) and they emphasize that they won't call you on sales progress. There's even a terse admonition that after two months the clothes will be donated. Close to the two-month deadline, after at least four calls that elicited a chirpy 'Nope, not sold yet!', we dropped by in a mad panic to find that two out of three items have actually been purchased. A pristine designer belt and blouse yielded $30, enough for a taxi ride home and a cup of coffee. Oh well, at least two girls in Chicago are screaming for joy at this unprecedented designer manna. And did we mention the spectacularly unhelpful service? Forget being handed your unsold item(s) -- you are directed to racks which you paw through yourself. You don't even get offered a bag for your pains. On exiting the store, you are told -- unbelievably, by the same spectacularly unhelpful staff -- that spring is coming up and you may want to use the same identification number to bring in more items. Conclusion: if you are desperate to be paid pennies for designer clothing and relish bad service, Cynthia's is perfect. We'll be staying away after this encounter. I love shopping here! I just picked up a pair of pristine PRADA black leather boots for $70.00 and a $2000.00 Leather jacket, that may have been worn once, for $100. The clothing that you will find in this store is amazing - all wonderful brands and labels that you find on Oak Street or NY, NY. Was totally disappointed. Told me all items were fake when I KNOWINGLY WAS AT the Michigan Ave stores at time of purchase. Said the tags were in the wrong place or it didn't feel right to them. NOT professional people. Did NOT do their homework on high-end Designer handbags. Thoroughly disappointed. They lost a BIG sale! So, I love this place. I have been shopping here for about 4 years and the stuff here is solid. It's a rare day that I stop in and don't find something gorgeous to drop my hard earned dough on. Think: wardrobe building pieces. A few things though, they don't do bridal anymore--which is a shame, the gowns were beautiful. I would also like to applaud the doorbell service--it's not because they're snooty--it's a safety measure. And it's much appreciated. Also the staff are very honest with you about what looks good on you and what doesn't on your body type/coloring,etc. It's refreshing to get a real commentary, especially if your not shopping with your girlfriends. Cynthia does NOT sell wedding dresses anymore. Just getting that out of the way because that was my original intention when I came to her shop. However, she does sell a lot of quality designer clothing, and my friend got a great deal on Hunter rain boots. Cynthia was super sweet and helpful! Also, there was a little bird that literally fell onto my head then to the ground as I was walking in, and my friend and I noticed that it could not fly away or move very far. When we told Cynthia, she was already preparing an open box with soft material and water to help the bird rest and recover-- that's how sweet she is. We got the bird into a nook safely out of the way of the sidewalk. In conclusion, I would definitely go back to shop again. read more

I did not experience the rude customer service some others have mentioned. I went in looking for a wedding dress and the woman smiled and offered to help but gave me my space while I looked around. While the service suited me just fine, I found their selection of wedding dresses to be quite limited. On just two racks, they seemed to all by $500+ and some had stains. I didn't find any that appealed to me and so I left after only a few minutes. read more

If I ever were in the market to buy a wedding dress (instead of in the market to sell one) I would definately sniff out what this place has to offer. They had some gorgeous designer gowns, and considering how much they marked mine down (never worn/altered) there must be some deals in there. I agree the service is laid back and you do have to be proactive to check on your stuff, this is a small shop with a small work staff. When my gown had been there longer than they agreed to, they actually proactively offered to keep it because they knew they could sell it - and they did. I've had several people say selling a gown on eBay is quite difficult and Cynthia's took the headache out of it - even if I had to call a few times to check in. read more

I don't know where to begin. I love love love Cynthia. She knows exactly what I'm looking for. If she hasn't seen me in a month or so and she sees my sister, she makes sure to let her know to let me know I should stop in and she is NEVER wrong. She has the best stuff. I have also consigned with her and she is fair and efficient. She literally sparkles. Sometimes I go in just because I have nothing better to do and want to say hi. I absolutely adore this place. If you're debating consigning your stuff they have a really simple and explanatory contract, it is super easy. If you're looking for something fancy without a crazy price tag, she probably has something for you. And I've been a consignment store shopper for awhile now, her store is extremely organized unlike some others that give me and I assume everybody else clutter anxiety. The best. 10 stars. Every time I visit Chicago I try to stop by Cynthia's! I'm a total sucker for consignment fashion, and this store is one of my favorites ever. They have a really curated collection, so I always find a surprising steal! Seriously, the designers they sell are HIGH fashion. Every time I visit I feel like I'm sneaking around a celebrity's closet. Last time I was there I saw the most incredible Chanel booties in perfect condition... unfortunately they were too small for me but I still dream of them. I shop every spring and every fall there and always find incredible deals. I got a pair of really show-stopping Gucci pants for almost nothing recently and wore them every chance I got this winter, I got a three piece suit (jacket, skirt, and pants) that looked brand new and was the perfect thing for meeting with clients, and I always find shoes and boots that have never even been worn. Actually, a lot of the clothes still have the original tags on them! Cynthia is there on the weekends, she has a great eye, knows my taste and can always find me something I love that fits perfectly. I have left a few things there on consignment and they all sold, I definitely did better than I would have on ebay. I recommend this place to all my friends, for those of us who can't afford to shop at Barneys, now we can look like we do! read more

I would not recommend this consignment shop to someone looking to get a decent value for their clothes. The staff is not friendly and it takes a long time to sell anything there. I think the location isn't right for getting a lot of people in the door. I would think about selling your stuff on ebay instead! I went here to look for a wedding gown. The selection is pretty small, but the prices are right. You'd probably have to be lucky or diligent to find something here. I lack the patience, but I think a good bargain shopper could end up very happy. I am very surprised about JH's service gripes. I received excellent service. If you are expect bridal boutique service, you should probably go to a bridal boutique. This place is definitely hands off, but the saleswomen was helpful, polite and answered questions cheerfully. I did have to pull the dresses off the rack and carry them to the dressing room myself, but it was only three feet away. Some of the actual bridal salons I went to had less service. read more

I did not purchase anything here because the dresses and handbags were marked up too much for their condition. You could probably go to the Coach outlet and pay the same price for a new purse. First off, Cynthia is wonderful - very nice and helpful and treats her customers and consignors with respect. She works on Sunday so I recommend going that day and NO OTHER DAY because the rest of her staff are condescending, rude women who have no idea about fashion. They don't know how much an Orla Kiely skirt retails for? Or who Isabel Marant is? Or APC? I am a well-dressed, thin, attractive young woman who has tons of high end designer clothing mainly bought in LA, NYC and London and these ladies look at me and talk to me like I'm an uneducated vagrant. Cynthia, I do not understand why you continue to employ these horrid individuals after all the negative Yelp reviews. They runied my day today when I brought in some items. I don't think they believed that I could possibly own clothing worthy of being sold at their store, even though I came in wearing Tory Burch pants, sweater and shirt and a $600 Steven Alan coat, Costume National boots, Persol sunglasses, an Agnes B scarf and a Miu Miu bag. I guess maybe they aren't familiar with any of those brands because judging them on how they are dressed, they look like they should be working at Dress Barn. To top it all off, the way they said bye when I left was the absolutely most snide, sarcastic "goodbye" I have ever received in my life. I have a ton of great clothing that your store could be making money from, but no longer. It is back to Ebay all the time for me so I don't have to be treated like I have a fungus on my face. I get it; you work in a customer service retail job and I in a law firm and I'm younger and prettier than you. But get over it.. New York is such a better city to consign in. People actually know who proper designers are and how much they actually should be priced at! I have also have consigned with Cynthia's and I feel I got a pretty good return $ for my stuff. Cynthia is very friendly and helpful.
