So so bad. I went in on a Friday to consign after visiting the website, which said 'weekdays preferred' only to be told that Friday isn't a weekday... wait, what?! PUT Monday-Thursday preferred on your website! Returned on the following Thursday only to find the store was closed, even though I was well past the listed opening time. Note that the opening time on the stores answering phone is 10am, online it is 12. I waited until 12.45. And having read the other peoples reviews (which I wish I had read before even bothering with McShanes) I doubt McShanes does pay anyone since they run the business like a scowling teenager, showing up on a whim, bad to nonexistent communication and not bothering to treat anyone with respect. read more

This place was small but had a wonderful selection I came in 10 minutes before they closed and the workers were cleaning up the place but were very friendly! I come over to the store for an emergency I needed a last minute prom dress. I picked this beautiful dress that they had and loved it! The workers were very nice and happy even through they were closing. I called last week about bringing clothes in for consignment and was told not to come in until this week. I then called again this morning to make sure I could still bring in items today. She said yes, but I'd have to leave everything there for a few months. No problem I thought - so I walked over with the clothes in a cart. When I arrived, the owner was NOT FRIENDLY at all - like I was bothering her. She then informed me that I had to leave all the clothing in a large bag I should have brought and had to have written out a list of clothes ahead of arrival - neither of which I had done. When I told her she had not notified me of those things when I called, she told me it was all on her website. She could not have been more RUDE. I left with my items and then checked her website for "rules" for consigners and neither the bag nor the pre-written list was stated there. I took some things for consignment the other day. The manager Ally said she would look them over and let me know what they wanted to keep. Hours later I got a contract with no pricing or an itemized list. After reading the horrible reviews I went back the next day to get all of my items. TERRIBLE FOR CONSIGNERS! I am a former customer at McShane's. I decided to try consignment with the new owner. I took a 75-80-item array of fashionable summer-spring suits, dresses, pants, jackets, etc. When I approached the desk, Allie, "new owner," was unwelcoming and rudely detached, as she did things on her desk. When I asked a few times about their record of my items, she assured me that the women would do that immediately, when they took them to the back of the store. For months, I was told repeatedly that it was not a good time to drop off winter clothes. I went by to find out what summer clothes were still there. When she told me to look for them on the racks, I found 2 items! I asked for a record of my items. There is NO LIST of what I brought in, what was sold, nor the prices paid. Contrary to her initial "assurance," Allie said they don't keep records and that the contract (with no list of items) was my record. Then, she showed me some numbers on her laptop of sold items, which she refused to print for me. When I told her I would take a photo of the numbers on her laptop, she threw me out of the store. In an explosive manner, she accused me of trying to take a photo of her, and said, "Get out!" I said, "I want documentation, not your picture! Terrible business!" I took my 2 items and closed the consigner's account. There is NO record keeping system, documentation, nor source of reliable information for the consigner, and her manner is offensive! They take your clothes, which disappear, without record, so the money made is "untraceable" for consigners. For all practical purposes, clothes are STOLEN! It's an unscrupulous, unprofessional, disorganized "business"! I wish I had seen the negative 1-star reviews (Yelp, Google, BBB), before I consigned there. My experience mirrors that of many others! I would not recommend this place to anyone. It is very shady. Nobody is ever there to help you. When I brought my items over to be consigned, I was told they weren't put on the floor for months, I didn't get a contract, and I had to repeatedly call to find out what was going on. When my consignment period ended, they kept selling my items, but they don't pay you for it and they don't return your calls to come and pick up your items or to get your check. i dropped off many designer items including brand new Prada boots when I went in to pick up items the Prada boots were worn Thief and Liar! I brought in Brand New Prada boots among other items and checked in every few months only for the owner to convince me to leave items a little longer that's because she sold some items and couldn't tell me what sold and also come to find she was wearing my Prada boots. I called her to tell her I was coming in in an hour and when I got there she was closed but all the lights were on and the door was locked. I waited it out then she finally was open When I made it into the store to collect my items I had to rummage through and find them myself which most weren't there. The Prada boots were definitely worn! She offered me $32 for the items that supposedly sold and when I confronted her she threw me out of the store! She also threw my empty ice cream cup at me that I had sitting on the counter that I put down while I was searching for my items. She followed up with a threatening text saying I was banned from the store and she would call the police if I came near the store again! read more

While this may be a great store for the shopper, it is a consigner's nightmare. A consigner doesn't receive any acknowledgment of items, no list or inventory. It's all smoke & mirrors when you finally get a check, if the owner doesn't run out of checks as she told me. You have no idea what sold or for how much. I probably should have read these reviews before consigning with this shop. The owner of the shop is extremely rude. The first red flag occurred when I messaged her on IG and asked if the store notifies when a sale is made. Her passive aggressive reply was "did you read the contract". When my 90 days were up I tried calling the store numerous times but no one answered and there was no way to leave a message. Finally she answered and said that she's so busy and her job is to sell clothes not answer the phone. I asked her if she could tell me what sold, for how much and she said she didn't have that information and would call me on Monday to let me know. She never called. So I called the shop and there was a different employee, who was actually very kind. I told her the situation and she said she would call the owner and call me back. She did and told me that three pairs of my shoes sold, but that's all the details she was told. She said that the owner will write me a check but wasn't sure when because there's a chance they can be out of checks. I was so confused! I told them I wanted to get paid since my 90 days was over. The next day the owner called me and said she would Zelle me the amount. I had 6 other pairs of shoes that I wanted to pick up because there was no way in hell I was going to continue consigning with them. I came into the store on a weekend, there was no one there other than the owner who was on her phone. She didn't even look up or greet me, cause "she was so busy". I had to look for my shoes, she recorded which ones I was taking back. I said thank you and got no response from her. Wow, this place is like Narnia! You walk into one room after another and it just keeps going. Huge selection of items. The organization of it all seemed a little strange. I definitely saw quite a few designer items which kept me interested long enough to peruse the store. This is definitely one of those places that you need to come into knowing you'll have to hunt through everything to find the gems. Prices seemed to be a little high, though it varied greatly depending on the item. Generally saw Vince t-shirts for ~$40 and anthropology tops for ~$34.
