I've been following A&T on IG for what feels like forever and finally visited their Logan Square…read moreboutique. The interior is gorgeous- like Wednesday Adams meets Selena Gomez. I was a bit surprised to not find more jewelers - most pieces that are in the store, you've already seen on their IG. There's not many pieces that you haven't seen. There were definite collections (some by the owner Viviana) but I was expecting more options for the large space. Their bridal case is gorgeous with several of options to get your creative mind going- both for engagement rings and wedding bands. Very cool alternatives to "mall jewelry stores"! Yes yes yes! I walked out with a teeny charm to add to my neck mess and a curb chain earring. The curb chain earring was 14k gold with a CZ at the end with a pricing just under $300. Pairing real with not real was a bit silly to me, I wanted either less (vermeil with the CZ) or more (14k with a diamond... I also still purchased because it was so damn cool. Cool pieces, cool staff, cool interior! You could just as easily shop their IG but going in to shop is fun!

I'm not sure why, exactly; maybe because I didn't know they had jewelry and I am a sucker for pretty sparkly things. Nomadic Ant was at the Lincoln Square Apple Fest and for better or for worse, I stopped at their booth. I left with a lighter wallet. (Well, if I still used a physical wallet.) They have some really beautiful jewelry, and I love sterling. I bought a pair of earrings and two rings that are a little different from some of the other things I have; the two rings have a somewhat botanical look and the earrings have an interesting construction in that they are one piece that slides through your ear. They had plenty of other lovely rings, bracelets, and so on as well and they have them in sizes that fit even my fat fingers. I'll definitely return to Nomadic Ant when I'm in the mood for spending money, and I'm not sure that following them on instagram is the best of ideas but I'm going to do it anyway.

We ended up getting permanent bracelets and semi-permanent rings (along with some other jewelry they had in the shop). For the permanent jewelry, you get to look at what seemed like HUNDREDS of different chains, it was so hard to decide! I loved that the price was listed on each of the chains, so you know what to expect. For a ring made from the chains, it is 1/3 of the price listed. I thought this was such a reasonable price too! On top of it all- it was unexpectedly such a fun experience! I can so see this being a really fun activity for a bachelorette party, a birthday, even just a girl's day out after brunch. The people working were so fun and so knowledgeable, you'll feel like you're in good hands. It's been a few days and I already want to add to my bracelet stack.... She came up with the idea we should get permanent jewelry! So off to Alexandra Marks we went. You can choose between permanent bracelets or anklets and there are so many different chains to choose from and you can even add on fun charms. We all selected a gold tone metal chain and opted for anklets since they seemed more durable. Hot tip: Ask for your anklet to be looser so that it's not as tight and is less prone to breaking! We got champagne to sip on and it was such a fun experience throughout. They also let us know if our jewelry does fall off or needs to be cut off, the store will fuse it back together as long as you call/make an appointment and bring it back to them to fix. We need more stores like that! There wasn't a ton of inventory I'd want to buy. I tried finding a print that stuck out to me but they had limited stock. There was jewelry that was super cute, but I don't have my ears pierced and couldn't justify the price for the rest of the jewelry. The one thing that stuck out to me negatively was that there was a man talking to the employee working the checkout desk. Then when he left the employee turns to someone else there and starts talking about how he smelled bad. I am standing in front of the employee waiting to get my stationery store passbook stamped so I hear this whole conversation and I'm like that's so mean! Talk about terrible Customer Service!!! It really turned off me from shopping here and I couldn't bring myself to buy something and support them. It's a quaint shop but I just can't buy from here if I know the employees might turn around and talk shit about me when I leave.

I had a blast with the friends that attended the event with me. We all enjoyed our night! After the event, we were able to look around Bon Femmes. It's such a cute shop stocked with art, stickers, stationary, cards, and much more. I definitely want to come back and shop some more! It's a perfect spot to get a friend or family member a gift. There are some shops I love and will always stop at, no matter what city I am in--and that's this sort of gem shop. I'm not kidding when I say that I search for fair trade, crystal, or similar terms when I'm traveling anywhere. I am addicted to sterling gemstone jewelry and have been for many years because my hometown had a store that was wonderful for this and helped me build my collection. On The Rocks has lovely sparkly things that are all too tempting! My most recent stop was to see if I could find something with rubies that I liked to commemorate my daughter's birth and I found a cute pair of small earrings that I snapped up. They have earrings, rings, bracelets, cut stones and crystals, and so on. Lots of things for a rock hound or a jewelry fiend to salivate over. They're a little expensive. But it's not a place you buy things every day and they have beautiful inventory so I'm sure to stop in again. The door has steps to get in but they said they have a ramp for wheelchair users to get in, and though they weren't super enthusiastic by offering it as I tried to drag my stroller in but you may as well ask for that if you'd like.
