This review is LONG overdue. After looking online and at a couple of different 'big box' type jewelry stores for an engagement ring and just not finding what we wanted, we decided we wanted to go the route of having a custom ring made, and so we ended up at Holtzmann's. Pam and Pat Holtzmann are the most phenomenal folks around. When you're in their store, you feel like family. They are super friendly, and made you feel comfortable from the get-go. They are both super patient, and they really take the time to educate you on different stones, and different aspects of design to help make sure that you're creating a jewelry piece that will last a lifetime with proper care. We ended up having my engagement ring and my husband's wedding ring made by them, and then after having my husbands wedding ring made, I ended up wanting to make a more feminine, mini-version of his ring to be able to wear myself as well, and they helped us make that too. The quality of the jewelry pieces we received is outstanding, and working with Pam and Pat was the same. We valued getting to work with them so closely on pieces we plan to wear a lifetime! Although we had rings made, Holtzmann's specializes in all types of custom jewelry. We happened to pop into the store at the tail end of another couple leaving who had the most beautiful custom bracelet made, and at another visit saw someone picking up a necklace that they had redesigned with stones from a different necklace they no longer wore anymore. All of those jewelry pieces were amazing too. 10/10 recommend for whatever your jewelry needs are!! read more

We showed them our Pinterest board, and they came up with a plastic mold that I got to try on. After a couple of revisions here and there, they gave us our ring and we love it! The good: Came here for a resizing and the cost ended up being cheaper than was quoted ($45 instead of $50), which is always a plus. We hadn't purchased the ring at their store and they were still accommodating. Service the second time around (see not-so-good) was much friendlier and more attentive. Their hours are more flexible than other stores nearby as well, which is a plus. The not-so-good: They recommended us to get a 5.5 sizing, even though we hesitated and stated that we should go lower. Eventually we took their recommendation and the ring unfortunately still does not fit (needs to be 5.25). Additionally, the service was rather dismissive the first time we were there - other clients seemed more important to them. read more

Pam and Pat are the best! Needed my rings fixed so brought them in, and Pam took them right into the jeweler. She called me from his office to share what it would cost (not bad at all!) and had the rings back to me within days. Whenever I come with my daughter in the stroller, they help me bring her up the stairs into their store. Pat and Pam were so nice and helpful. I had two chains that needed small repairs. They got me into the shop in between appointments that day and helped me out. They offered to pop them back together on the spot (easier but not necessarily permanent), or they could laser solder them and have them back to me in a few days (much more secure option for the chains). They called me back earlier than expected, and a bit cheaper than quoted. Also, since it's COVID times, they were meticulous with keeping the store sanitized. One client at a time, everything wiped down, hand sanitizer at the ready. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone who needs repairs or to buy jewelry. read more

Holtzmann's is fantastic! They are a small family owned jewelry store. My husband's family has been going there for years so this is where he went to purchase my engagement ring. We went back there to purchase our wedding rings as well. We received friendly, attentive service and excellent value each time. I couldn't find a wedding band in their store that I specifically liked, and they did everything to help me get a better idea. Pat even let me try on his wife's wedding bands to see if I liked that! After doing some searching on my own, I found another style elsewhere which they were able to custom make for me. The ring is gorgeous!! The BEST part is that for my wedding day, I was able to borrow a few beautiful pieces from the store!! It made me feel even more special on my wedding day. It was like being a celebrity!! I am a big fan of Patrick and Michael there. My wife used to work down the street and had been "shopping" there for years So when it came time to pop the question, it was an easy pick. What I was surprised by was their pricing was very competitive. We also ended up buying our wedding bands from there as well. When the wedding day came around, they really went the extra mile for us. I recently had a ring resized here and they did a great job. I wasn't entirely sure what size I needed, and the gentlemen working fitted my finger and assured me of the size. After I got the call saying the ring was done (2 days early) I headed there a little nervous it would be too small. I was happily surprised the ring fit perfectly, and I was happy I listened to his expert advice. It ended up only being $25 to resize the gold ring. They polished it up and it looks great. I love this place. Patrick and Michael are so friendly and helpful! We've had two really great experiences with them getting custom jewelry made. My husband stole an old diamond ring out of my jewelry box and took it to Holtzmann's to see if they could match the stone and make some earrings for me as a surprise. I don't know all of the details that went into it, but I know that my husband was very happy with the process and I am extremely happy with my new beautiful diamond earrings. So when I decided to have a necklace made with a stone my father had given me, I knew I was going to Holtzmann's. I thought I knew what I wanted, but I ended up changing my mind about the design twice, and they stuck with me through the whole thing. I have been in here a few times with my husband looking for a wedding band to match my original ring. I wanted to wait until I had experienced their customer service, selection and special orders to write a complete review. For starters, I walked by the storefront every week and looked at all the sparkly things thinking to myself "this is a really nice place in Lincoln Park, I probably can not afford one thing in there." I have walked by this quaint store a couple of times and always saw the nice jewelry on display in the window. I am not much into jewelry myself...nor is my boyfriend, so I never ventured in. Then I was walking by this past fall and remembered that it was our 13th Anniversary...and maybe I should get something nice for him!
