When we decided to get married, I knew a few things as it pertained to a ring: * One ring, no engagement ring and wedding band * No traditional center stone setting * Something unique * Nothing crazy expensive * I needed to talk to Sarah at Bowen Arrow I've known Sarah a long time and had seen some of the beautiful rings she's helped friends buy and design. I had a strong idea of what I liked and disliked. I found a few rings online that I adored, but hated the idea of buying a ring online like I might buy garden hose. I wanted to be able to ask questions, change things to fit me personally, and actually work with someone face-to-face. I have no idea how many times we met overall - my guess is at least 4. Sarah helped guide me in my choices, answered all of our questions, was patient with my indecision, and had the tolerance of a saint when our cats would prance on the table as she pulled out stones. In the end, I got something that is unique, whimsical, not extravagantly priced, and feels very me. The hardest part was not wearing the ring once I got it; it was my call to go with only one ring, but I loved it so much I wanted to wear it immediately. I may or may not have pulled out pics and the ring itself to gaze at it several times before the wedding. I got lots of compliments from friends and family on the ring. I couldn't have been happier with my experience with Bowen Arrow and would recommend it to anyone in the market for jewelry. read more

Sarah made me my dream ring and I couldn't be happier! Working with her has been a breeze and I will definitely be having her make me more jewelry in the future. Anything you think up, she can create and see to it that only the highest quality diamonds are sourced. The turnaround was quick and I am thrilled with the result. I also look forward to having her repurpose some of my hand-me-downs. I couldn't recommend Sarah enough. Thanks again Sarah! read more

Like many women, I love bling. But let's face it, my engagement ring and wedding band will be the most important pieces of jewelry that I will ever wear. So, when it was time to take the next step in my relationship, I knew I wanted to go to someone I trusted to bring together my vision with my fiancés financial investment. I immediately thought of Sarah. I had seen her work and was well aware of her reputation for impeccable service. And most importantly, I knew of her unrelenting passion about her jewelry. We decided to start our engagement journey with Sarah and I couldn't be happier that we did. True to the task, Sarah swiftly located diamonds that matched our preferences and designed a gorgeous ring. The ring came in early and slightly under budget. Woo hoo! And through it all, you would think she was selling her very first engagement ring. Her enthusiasm never faltered. She is an amazing private jeweler and I will recommend her to everyone I know! read more

I had a ring that was beautiful and I loved it, but it was a smidge too small. For the past couple of years I'd worn a different ring, but really loved this particular ring as it had quite a bit of sentimental value. For reasons unknown, one jeweler said they couldn't resize the ring and so it sat in my jewelry box. Fast forward to a couple of months ago when I decided to purchase a new band. I immediately thought of Sarah because I've seen her work and know her dedication to her craft. Sarah was great to work with. She not only sold me a new band, but she was able to resize my beautiful ring that had been sitting in my jewelry box. What stood out to me about this experience was the fact that even though I wasn't making a huge purchase from Sarah, she treated me as if I'd spent a million bucks. She was really concerned with my satisfaction and making sure I was happy with my purchase--and I was! My ring was returned to me resized and clean and sparkling more than when I first got it. I was so pleased that I cried! My new band was equally gorgeous. I'm a fan and will be a repeat customer. So disregard those jewelry store ads. No--he didn't go to Jared. A good kiss won't begin with Kay. A smart shopper who wants personal attention and exceptional customer service goes to Sarah at Bowen Arrow Diamonds. read more

You know how sometimes you put things off because you think it's going to be this long, involved process? And then it takes no time at all and you kick yourself for being the valedictorian of procrastination? Yeah, that's what happened with my most recent experience with Sarah. I wanted to design a necklace to honor the memory of my parents, who have both left this earth for greener pastures. I didn't just want a random necklace - I wanted it to be special and symbolize how I'll remember my parents. Something simple enough to wear every day but tasteful enough to wear on special occasions that I would have wanted my parents to be there for. I had an idea in my head of what I wanted for - no joke - about 2 years, but I kept putting it off because I (oh so wrongly) assumed that custom jewelry design was going to take forever and basically be a pain in my ass. I could not have been more wrong. I finally went to see Sarah, and after describing what I had in mind and even drawing it (and being certain I wasn't articulating myself clearly at all), she knew exactly what I meant. The whole design process took less than an hour. Yes, you read that right. I put it off for two years and it took LESS THAN AN HOUR. Clearly, I was the only one holding up this process. Sarah is a genius and pretty much read my mind and guided me in the right direction through design, diamonds, chains, etc. And the price was not even remotely close to heart attack inducing, which just goes to show that custom work is affordable for everyone. Did you hear that? Let me say it again: CUSTOM WORK IS AFFORDABLE FOR EVERYONE. The entire process was so easy, and in the end I have a necklace that I adore and that I have gotten a million compliments on. I wear this necklace nearly every day, and it keeps the memory of my parents quite literally close to my heart. It is something that I will cherish forever, and I will always be grateful to Sarah for that. If you're looking for a jeweler who can read minds and give you something better than you ever hoped for, you need to see Sarah. She is the bee's knees and she is officially my jeweler for life. (Note to my future husband, whoever you are, Sarah knows the exact ring I want and could probably help you out. Just sayin.') read more

I found Sarah through Yelp and I am so thankful. I was proposing and I had no idea about rings and diamonds and was really scared to walk into a retail place. I met with her and I instantly felt relieved that she was genuine and cared about making it an amazing, perfect ring. I had a picture and slight details of what I wanted and she put together an amazing ring at a great price and my fiancé absolutely loved it. We couldn't be happier. Sarah was so nice and professional/knowledgeable and so cool and down-to-earth. I would highly suggest her to anyone! read more

My partner and I got a jade stone in Beijing that came to be meaningful for us, so we decided to have it set in an engagement ring. I asked around a little, but came upon Sarah through searching online for Chicago jewelers. She had a bunch of atypical designs on her site that grabbed my attention. I tried to do a little research for how I wanted it set, but I was pretty clueless. We met and discussed what would work best and walked away knowing way more about ring settings. Sarah was super knowledgeable and incredibly kind. I was pretty all over the place and she handled me very professionally. We left the consultation thinking we were all set, but after receiving the first rendering I knew I wanted to go in a completely different direction. It was SO helpful to see the rendering, without that, I would have maybe not loved my ring! I am super picky, so I knew it was going to be a challenge. We talked about a second rendition and Sarah came back with the new rendering and we were sold: she nailed exactly what we wanted. She came by my workspace the following week with the 3D mold and that solidified everything. It was so much simpler of a process than I imagined. We also really wanted the ring complete in time to announce to our families over Christmas, which was weeks away. I thought for sure that was impossible seeing as it likely was her busiest time of year, but she facilitated everything with days to spare. I can't begin to explain how many compliments I get on my ring on a daily basis from a ton of super genuine people. She really helped us make something special that was all our own rather than the same engagement ring I see everywhere. It's almost one year later and I am still as obsessed with it as I was when I first saw the final product. It was the perfect kick off to planning our wedding day: we couldn't be happier. I was also thrilled to be supporting a local business! Especially for a city like Chicago where there is talent all over the place, it just seemed like the best option. We couldn't have received better service. I highly recommend Bowen Arrow Diamonds & Design! read more

My wife and I live 8 hours from Chicago but we received Sarah's name from a friend who used Bowen Arrow for his wedding and engagement bands. We emailed her initially for a diamond pendant for our daughter's golden birthday and everything was done over the internet in a matter of days. Sarah was able to get exactly what we wanted by using just a few pictures and it was extremely reasonable! A month ago, for my wife's and my 10-year Anniversary, I reached out to Sarah for a matching second wedding band to go with her original ring. She was able to match the other band PERFECTLY with a custom made design and it ships overnight. It looks AMAZING, and my wife loves it. Again, the process was convenient, easy, reliable, and extremely efficient. I love working with Sarah and have passed her name on to all of my friends and family. I have not had the opportunity to meet Sarah since we live so far away, but she really knows her way around jewelry based on our many emails and correspondence back and forth. I always do a lot of research when it comes to reaching out to someone online and it's really hard to find anyone as experienced, friendly, and caring as Sarah is. I am so glad I took the referral and will be getting ALL of my jewelry from Bowen Arrow in the future. read more

Professional, trustworthy and talented are a few of the ways I would describe working with Sarah, owner of Bowen Arrow Diamonds and Design. Being a first time buyer, Sarah walked me through each step from the very beginning of the engagement ring process, making it comfortable and stress free. She patiently answered every question I had and remained accessible to answer any question that arose. Sarah treated me like family and made me confident in the BIG decision I was making. Together we were able to create the engagement ring of my fiancée's dreams! I would highly recommend Bowen Arrow Diamonds and Design to friends, family and anyone in the market for an absolutely stunning engagement ring or any other beautiful piece of jewelry. You will not be disappointed in your decision! read more

I learned about Bowen Arrow by chance. There were several patrons at my local restaurant talking about work they had done. I interjected because I was looking for a custom engagement ring. I wanted my future wife to have something unique beautiful and made with only her in mind. I contacted Sarah. The process was easy and she made me comfortable in how to select a stone and how we'd design the setting. The result was stunning. I have a fiancé who flaunts her gorgeous engagement ring. Sarah also made it possible for us to obtain a copy so it could be worn under circumstances you might otherwise wear it. Great job Sarah. I highly recommend her. read more

I was referred to Sarah by a friend of mine who Sarah made her engagement ring. So, I called Sarah and we set up an informal appointment to go over what we wanted and set expectations of her services. What we wanted was no easy feat in the jewelry industry... we wanted to have our wedding bands redone for our 15 year anniversary (easy enough), but we wanted fancy blue diamonds as our feature stones (not so easy). Sara let me know right away that blue diamonds were not easy to source and naturally colored diamonds were practically a different market than regular diamonds but she was up for, and excited for, the task. It took us about 4 months to find two blue stones that we liked and worked with our settings (Sarah previewed many more before we picked), another month to send the stones away from GIA grading and then finalizing the setting to then production of the rings. We met with her about 3 times in between to preview stones and finalize the settings. The process was fun, informative but also nervous when picking a stone with so many factors when it comes to colored diamonds. Sarah was patient, answered all our questions, and always had our best interest as the bottom line. She was very easy to reach via email, text, or a phone call. She worked within our budget and our rings came out stunning. I would never again buy jewelry retail. We got a much better product, at a better price, with the level of service you would never get walking into a retail store. Pics of our rings attached. Thank you again Sarah, you have us for life! read more

Bowen Arrow Diamonds & Design - Natural Fancy Blue Diamond Wedding Bands in Platinum. - Jewelry Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

This review is a long time in coming. I've been known to stalk Bowen Arrow Diamonds' FB page and instagram accounts. I would dream of the day I would own a piece of jewelry from this magnificent designer. Then one day my dream was realized. My family asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I immediately sent links to my family so they could start planning. I knew my dream was well within reach. But then my hopes were crushed. No one mentioned the links and no one hinted at Christmas. I was a sad, sad girl. So imagine my surprise when on Christmas morning I opened the most gorgeous necklace I have every seen. The yellow gold was so buttery and perfect. And the opal is beautiful. I've never owned opal jewelry but this one is so stunning. I immediately fell in love with it online and it certainly didn't disappoint in person. I get compliments all the time. It has quick become on of my favorite pieces of jewelry to wear. I should also mention that around the same time I decided to purchase my sister a "grown up" pair of earrings for her 30th birthday. She loves rose gold and diamonds so I figured I'd get her something in that combination. I was having a hard time finding something that was in my price range but also didn't look cheap. Either the diamonds were too yellow or the rose gold was too pink and looked fake. I went to Sarah and in a matter of 10 minutes she'd found the perfect pair of earrings for me. I was thrilled and my sister was thrilled with her bday gift. I really recommend working with Sarah. She's attentive, whip smart, and amazing at her job. I felt comfortable talking with her and letting her know my likes and dislikes. My meeting with her was totally impromptu but she was prepared and such a pro. Now if I can just kick my boyfriend into engagement ring buying gear I'll be a happy camper. read more

Sarah was a pleasure to work with. I purchased my engagement ring from her and she walked me through the whole process. I did NOT purchase from a local seller in Seattle (where I live) because of Sarah's great customer service and extreme patience. I had 100% trust in our decision, together, and was not disappointed when I opened the box to view the final ring. My wife and I even purchased our wedding bands from her and once again we were extremely happy. We wanted a pretty intricate scroll engraving and she delivered. Thanks, again! read more

I had a design in mind that I wanted to have made and Sarah made it come to life! She was quick to respond with emails and pictures of what it would look like. My fiancé purchased my engagement ring through Sarah and we were so pleased with it we went back and bought our wedding bands through her as well. Her designs are unique and beautiful and the customer service is awesome! She is upfront about prices, options and what makes the most sense for the types of wear and tear your rings will be exposed to. She kept us updated through everything and is super-quick to respond to questions and emails. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking into purchasing a ring, especially those who are new to diamonds and jewelry (like me!) she answered all our questions so we could choose the perfect ones! read more

I was very nervous about buying an engagement ring, as this was my first time purchasing jewelry and I knew virtually nothing about the process or what to look for. After reading tons of questionable internet advice, I found Sarah and she (very patiently) answered all my questions and brought up considerations I would have never thought of. Within a few weeks of our first meeting, I had the perfect custom designed engagement ring. I couldn't be happier with it and my fiancée absolutely loves it. If you're looking for the perfect engagement ring in Chicago (or anywhere else), look no further than Bowen Arrow! read more

I'm so glad I chose Sarah to help me find the perfect engagement ring for my fiancé. While the process of shopping for an engagement ring can be stressful and overwhelming, working with Sarah helped make it manageable and enjoyable. Sarah was reliable, responsive and always trying to make things easy for me. In our first meeting, she spent a lot of time asking questions to get to know me and learn about my fiancé and our relationship: how we met, what we like to do together, what jewelry my fiancé liked and didn't like, etc. She truly cares about her clients, and I could see that in how much effort she put into getting to know me. She helped educate me on the "four C's", and together we came up with a general idea for what I wanted. After that meeting, we met in two main locations, one in the Loop and one in Uptown. The two locations made it very convenient to find a time and place that worked for me (in my case it was either after work or on the weekends). With demanding hours and traveling a lot for work, this flexibility was really helpful. The process of choosing a diamond can be daunting because there are so many things to consider. Sarah helped me figure out what was most important to me and then narrow down to a smaller selection of diamonds. As I went through the process, my priorities changed, and Sarah was patient with me through that--she was always willing to go back to square one every time if it meant me being happy with the diamond choice. In the end, Sarah helped to get me to a place where I felt totally confident with my final decision. Lastly, Sarah is extremely warm and friendly. I expected that many diamond brokers would just want to make a sale, however Sarah was down to earth, thoughtful, and understanding. Sarah was transparent and honest about the entire process. I never felt as though she was trying to sell me on anything, and she just wanted me to be happy with the final product, whatever it took to get there. She clearly loves what she does, and that shines through when you work with her, from designing a beautiful band to finding the perfect diamond for it. She gets so excited about her job and how she can help to be a part of such an important purchase, and together we built the perfect ring for my fiancé. Thank you, Sarah!!!! read more

Sarah did a FABULOUS job with my ring. My fiance designed the most perfect ring for me and she made it come to light. I have loved hearing the story. With it's unique design, my beloved wasn't sure if it would be a reality and Sarah made it just that! There was a problem with my ring, which Sarah assured never happens, but she was so quick to fix it that it's forgivable. We will definitely use Sarah again to design more jewelry! read more

Sarah is amazing to work with! I wanted to have a handcrafted engagement ring made for my girlfriend before I pop the question and I happened to find Sarah's shop - Bowen Arrow Diamonds & Design. She responded quickly to my emails about her experience and provided several examples of her previous work; she proved to me that she knows and loves the jewelry business primarily because she likes working with people and helping people with those sentimental moments. We worked together over the course of 6 weeks and she always had clever unique ideas to really personalize my engagement ring. I felt completely secure in trusting Sarah even though we had never meet in person. Her attention to detail was amazing as she understood my constraints and helped me focus on purchasing the one-of-a-kind engagement ring that I know my girlfriend will love. She made me feel comfortable with my purchase and was always patient and never pushy. I highly recommend her for anybody looking for a beautiful handcrafted piece of jewelry. read more
